I did the self service wash yesterday and my card was charged twice. $7 and an additional $38 dollars. When I ended the wash it said about 28 which was already high and so okay, dang. But when I was charged 7+38!?! What in the world!!!Mind you I washed my motorcycle, so it shouldn't have been that long to even accumulate that high of a charge! Don't know about anyone else but this is the most expensive self service I have ever gone through. It's cheaper with my car which makes no sense. I'm super upset at how much this cost me. I have been a customer of Freedom Wash (Carwash) on Sam's Drive in Chesapeake for quite a while now and I'm very pleased with the results and service offered. The only drawback was the upgraded wash that they were working on for quite a while. Going from 2 service lanes down to one could be a hassle at times but now that that is complete, things are back to normal. Occasionally they need to perform routine maintenance and when they do, they go down to one lane but that is very infrequent. I can usually zip in and get out quickly with my vehicle clean. Tried to pay with a credit card--swipe system doesn't verify properly. Tried three brand-new cards, none worked. The sign says $7 to start with a card and $4 with cash (which really means tokens, not quarters). So I head to their token machine--one's broken, the other gives out their own tokens, not actual coins. Fine. But then only some bays accept tokens. Others are card only. Why even have tokens if half the bays won't take them? If you're going to require custom coins, every bay should accept them. Add to that the pathetic water pressure and I'm out nearly $30 just trying to get a halfway decent wash. Now I've got leftover tokens I'll never use at a car wash I'll never return to. I brought my truck through and paid for the second most expensive wash and my truck came out worse! The dirt on the hood ran the whole way down and dried when I came out because the amount of time you get never gets the car clean. And only one quick swipe pass on the soap with the lame cloth rags never even broke the crust of dirt - and my dirt was everyday dirt I didn't go 4x4! read more

This place has turned me off from automatic car washes. There's been no rain for days and none in the forecast for a week so I decided to wash my dusty car off. I took my brand new car through their auto car wash and did the cheapest option (9$) because honestly I only needed a rinse. Drove through and maybe I drove through too fast but the rinse part did not wash all the soap off (water pressure seemed low). So the dryer was blowing soap around I went to the self service booth and rinsed the car but also decided to scrub my tires since it said 6$ for 8 mins if you use a card and I had time left after rinsing. By the time I scrubbed the tires and rinsed, it was still running up time past 8 mins. MAKE SURE YOU STOP THE TIMER IF YOU USE A CARD. Then I got home, tires still dirty. Car a little dusty. SCRATCHES in my new car's paint. Some scratches are more faint while others are pronounced. most of the scratches were on the hood but a few were on the sides and probably in back, too. Brand new car SMH. Made me want to cry. Oh and the attendant that ran up to ask if I needed help? No mask on. We're a year into the pandemic and you're coming up to my *open* window with no mask? Came to freedom wash to self wash my car and there was plenty of openings. When you pull in the self service wash, it will allow you to use tokens or a credit card to pay for your wash. I like how this had a credit card option, you just pay by the minutes used and when you hit "done" it will charge your card for the amount of time you used. The car wash itself had a ton of options to use- I used the foaming brush feature, wax coating, and the Rainex- my car looked so sparkly after a wash and dry! I only spent $6 too versus the $20 you spend on a dry through wash. I would recommend this car wash to anyone in the area looking for an easy way to self service your car for a cheap price. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because online it states you get to use the vacuum for free with a wash and I didn't not see that in the self service section. read more

I'm not one to leave reviews but this was the worst car wash I have ever been to. If I could give it 0 stars I would. The car wash itself was terrible did not clean the outside of my vehicle whatsoever. The directions of the car wash were also very confusing. Then I moved to the vacuum which are advertised are free however are not, and only give you a 8 minute time slot if you pay with cash. Every car wash I've ever been to offers free vacuums so it was a disappointment to pay on top of the car wash itself which was not cheap. We weren't able to vacuum the inside hardly at all or wipe anything down ourselves. I went to wash my car here at 0630 in the self-service wash bay. In the bays, there are many leaking pipes and drains that are constantly running. I understand cycling water to avoid freezing but constant running water because a pipe wasn't installed right in several places is a big waste of water. The self-service station was $3 if you were using cash and $6 if you use your card for the same amount of time. Be careful if you're using your card, it won't stop at 10 minutes, it will just keep charging more and more to your card. The tools were in ok condition but water pressure was very low on all cycles. The high pressure rinse selection didn't work so I had to use a very low pressure rinse to get everything off which of course took longer and then costs more using the card option (or simply run out of time and be stuck with soap and waxes left on your paint). I was hoping for more and the price was high for malfunctioning equipment. More efficient to buy a Karcher and do it yourself at home. I won't be coming back. read more

My car was still covered in soap afterwards! It got stuck in the channels where my roof rails are, and the employee had to bring me to a self-service bay to manually rinse it out. So I got a sub-par wash and ended up with a wet car (didn't get the blow dry after the power wash). My wheels are still filthy - I usually go to Auto Bell and pay the $8 for them to dry it at the end, which ensures the wheels are actually clean. With the $9 wash I got today, my car came out in worse condition, and I paid more! Plus, why does an employee have to literally walk you through an automatic car wash? I've never heard of such a thing. Apparently the answer is because the car wash does a crappy job, and he has to finish cleaning your car at the end. read more

This place has been good to me. The monthly wash club is a good value and you even get free vacuum tokens when you use the automatic wash. Once, the machine damaged my windshield wiper and the attendant accompanied me to a nearby auto parts store and paid to have both of my wipers replaced, even though only one was damaged. I took my car there today. I followed all instructions and lights. After the wash I pulled over to wipe down windows. I found that the hood and top of my car had a 18" stripe down the center of the car that was still dirty. It looked as if the car had never been washed. So I went down the street to Carl's wash. The women said they get a lot of vehicles like mine. After going through their was, the car was clean! I can not recommend Freedom Wash. like never use them again. Ok it's now a couple of years and I need to update my post. After my first post, the owners offered my a month's membership for free. I got it and it took 3 trips to get the machine to read the bar code sticker on the sunroof of my car. The car wash works, but if your car is really dirty, it might take 2 or more trips through to get your car clean. On most weekend days, an attendant works the drive through and scrubs your grill, hood, and trunk. When that happens, the car gets really clean. Overall, I'm very satisfied with freedom wash. I've used all locations and they work well. I bought a monthly membership and use it a few times a week. You should give it a try. read more

Very convenient. I signed up for the monthly membership. Includes everything except the RainX and tire shine. About as good as a automatic wash as you would expect. I still have to clean my rims after, but that's probably because they have a lot of nooks and crannies that the water jets and brushes can't reach. I do try to get my money's worth every month. 2nd time using this location, they are 0/2. Pulled in and as expected the place was busy (forecast sunny and warm), all of the bays were occupied except 2. In front of the 2 bays (parked in the vacuum station) were two vehicles (unoccupied), a Service Truck and a personal vehicle. So I parked and waited for about 8 min, and during my observation there was a group of 3 guys chatting it up outside (near center structure), obviously not involved in anything at the moment (at least for the last 8 min). So my vehicle was small enough to maneuver so I made a hard left then another 2 point hard right and squeezed into the one bay. Rinsed my vehicle, then noticed one of the 3 guys walk out to the Service Truck then back to the center gathering. When I noticed the same guy walking back to the truck again I asked if these bays were unavailable, he said no, I then asked your service Truck, he said yes and walked away to go talk about the topic of interest. So based on this accepted type of behavior, I can bring my friends up to Freedom Wash and PARK in all these open spots (not use them) and then when a customer drives up to ask if the stall is available to use, my reply will be No and then walk away. Sarcasm to make the point. Both of your Pressure wash Techs could have parked in spots that did not impede the use of the bays especially on a busy afternoon, instead they did not care. Customer Service is also perception. Had these two cars been actively engaged in work that involved the TWO bays then cone the bays off or park them somewhere else. read more

Loved it. The new automatic on the right side was amazing. Instructions were very clear with the L.E.D lighting that changes color to let you know when to go and when to stop ,even when the presoak is spraying on the car when entering. The drying time is very very generous and the rinse after the wash made sure no remaining soap was present. Soap coverage was amazing I was not able to see out the windshield the entire wash. 10/10 read more

We've been frequent patrons but this will be our last time giving this establishment our business. The automatic car wash broke down and rather than give us our money back we were given this IOU. We were offered tokens only to realize they were for vacuuming only. When we ran out of cash using the sprayer management would not exchange the vacuum tokens so we could have enough cash to get the remaining soap off of our vehicle, citing that the automatic car wash was for that. When you are driving late at night it's nice to know a car wash is going to work. Our family have been members for several years now. We've tried all three locations over the years, yet still like the Chesapeake one best! It's situated near all our normal stops like Sams, Dollar Tree, Walmart, Chick Fil A, Lowe's and even the Main Post Office. Best of all its always clean, open 24/7, well lit, and right off i64 on Battlefield Blvd. I have one suggestion...make the right lane strictly for members. Other than that...it's all good! read more

I've only used the automatic car wash, not the self service, and it does an okay job. Like most it focuses on the sides and the back/front of the vehicle, so the hood was noticeably dirtier towards the middle. If you're looking for an easy, affordable "okay" wash, the monthly basic unlimited is a good deal. In my opinion, it's it's not worth it to upgrade or add features. Best feature is the free vacuum coin, and they're generous with the time! One coin provides plenty of time to vacuum the entire inside of a full size SUV..drove away and it was still running. read more

Beware of Freedom Car Wash - Chesapeake VA I used my credit card the other night to rinse of my truck and didn't turn the dial to STOP and PUSH THE STOP button. I was under the impression I was paying $6 for a quick rinse, when in fact I was charged $20 for not pushing the STOP button. The company stated they do not offer refunds. I don't usually use automatic car washes and I obviously should've stuck to that. A few weeks ago I attended Freedom Wash on Battlefield blvd in Virginia. I spent my $16, which is ridiculous for a 2 minute car wash, and left, just to later find out that my gas door cover was ripped off. I returned to the location to find it sitting in the car wash. I understand that stuff happens and was sure that freedom wash would be responsible and do what's right. I filled out an incident report and a few days later they called and had nothing but excuses and were very rude and refused to reimburse me. The car wash was alright, left some dirty marks on the car and I found it to be pretty pricey since I paid 14.99 on something that was suppose to be $20.00. I found that to be quite crappy. Didn't realize you could get a token for the vacuum and I ended up paying for the vacuum as well!
