My son, Cory (5yo), was at the tail end of needing a floaty to be in the pool when we came to Coach Nav's private lessons. He had always been comfortable in the water, which was a good sign, but I never could quite get him to use the proper strokes and positions while swimming. It's amazing how well our kids will listen to anyone but their own parents, but Nav built such a positive and playful relationship with Cory that the 30 minutes looked like so much fun. After only two lessons, Cory was swimming across the pool while alternating on his belly and his back. For the remainder of the 10 lessons, they played games that involved diving and changing positions, learning the dolphin kick to prep for the butterfly, regulating breathing patterns, and practicing what to do if you accidentally fall into a body of water. My son is confidently swimming without any flotation device after one session, and it's all thanks to Nav's teaching method and experience. We'll be back for my daughter next year! Gosh! Where do I even begin? My 4 yr-old son was very scared of water/ the pool/ swimming. Day one started with not even wanting to get in the water and tears. We had tried another big, reputable swim school in Irvine before finding Nav but the cold disposition of their teachers and lack of personal interaction and evaluation just created a massive block in our attempt to make our son water safe. Coach Nav is the best of the best!! He makes learning to swim fun and rewarding and had my son asking everyday if he could hang out with Coach Nav. This is a huge deal considering my son would cry and hide during swim lessons when he had other instructors in the past. My son is autistic and has to work extra hard for even the simplest things that come easily to other kids his age.
