We absolutely love water works, and will miss our weekly sessions there! My daughter began weekly private swim lessons at age 3 and is now a better swimmer than most adults I know, thanks to her instructor, Maxim. The way he interacts with children, motivates them while keeping classes silly and fun, is truly impressive. The company itself is also incredibly helpful. My daughter had a broken leg that prevented her from swimming, and the team helped us put our lessons on pause without forfeiting her recurring slot with Maxim, and even refunded us for her missed lesson the weekend prior. We've been incredibly happy with our time at Waterworks, both the customer service and professionalism of all the staff, as well as the skills Maxim helped our daughter learn. read more

The administrative/customer service side has honestly been a nightmare. If keeping the same schedule and instructor is important to you, really understand their makeup policy before signing up. Instructors do cancel or become unavailable, kids do get sick, but actually using your makeup credits can mean having to find a completely different time or instructor. We accumulated a lot of credits that became incredibly difficult to use without disrupting the recurring schedule we worked hard to secure. We spent hours on calls trying to work something out and eventually had to escalate it to management and management doesn't care. For Regional Center/SDP families especially, I would ask a LOT of questions before committing your budget here. The administrative experience and lack of flexibility have been incredibly frustrating. read more

I showed up for my daughter's class today and her teacher was not there. They did not send us a notice today (although they usually do) or have any replacement instructors available. We drive from far and my experience with Waterworks has been really frustrating. I really wanted Waterworks to work out for us; however, it's been almost a year now and we've had over 10 instructors. Our classes were on Sundays and they were often canceled or rescheduled because my daughter's instructors either called out or didn't show up. Perhaps people call out a lot on Sundays? My daughter takes a while to warm up to people so with the new faces and high turnover rate, after a year, she still does not know how to float. It's VERY DISAPPOINTING. Their customer service is great but there's such a high turnover rate at Waterworks... I do not recommend for kids who take a while to warm up to new people. read more

They have 4 pools for different levels and types of training, they get people of all ages and also they have a pool just for people with disabilities, here you cam find a huge staff from coaches to office people helping all day, the have tons of restrooms and play areas for little ones. Well, though exemplary service and amenities. Waterworks truly feels like a cut above. My son has been coming here for 2.5 years and my wife and I have been so pleased. My son's instructor Ms. Chelsea is excellent and his swimming has improved leaps and bounds since his first class when he was six months old. In addition, the number of pools, classes, showers, clothes dryers, etc. makes every visit stress free and convenient. In addition to the table stakes mentioned above, it's the small details really separate Waterworks. My son's instructor remembers his birthday and lets him get snacks or a toy. When they need to service the pool they provide time estimates and distractions to help the kids. They have food and drinks on site. They have great options for parties. They have all kinds of special events and gatherings. And--above all--they listen. You will note any many reviews, people have complained about the inflexibility of cancellations, and they have improved a lot. We have been going to Waterworks in Irvine for over 3 years and we have had great coaches. Our current Coach Matthew V is the best so far. He has a lot of enthusiasm, is dedicated to teaching the kids how to improve, and is a good balance of firm but not too strict teaching style. The lessons are pricey but the covered pool is nice, especially in the winter, and the staff is always helpful. My son has been taking lessons at Waterworks for about three years, and in particular he has had private lessons with Andrew for the better part of two years. It took us a minute to find the right instructor, but once we met Andrew it was apparent my son was in good hands. Andrew (or "Coach", as my son likes to call him) understands my son's sensory needs and ADHD and uses that knowledge to keep him simultaneously safe, engaged, happy, and progressing as a swimmer. Andrew always has something positive to say about my kiddos progress while also noting areas that he wants to see improve/work on over the next series of lessons. My son likes to know what's on the agenda for each day and when it's a swim day he always whispers a little "yes!" to himself. I know that joy and confidence comes from the fantastic work that Andrew puts into each lesson. My kid looks forward to being at swim because he looks forward to being in the water, and especially, spending 20 minutes with Coach Andrew. My daughter is 6, non speaking autistic, and a literal ball of energy. We tried first going to some of the other run of the mill water schools that you must know and it didn't go well. Everything from very little staff to small schools, and honestly those other schools didn't seem to want to try with my daughter. Jump to waterworks, who works with the regional centre, so they have experience, is quite different in the feel and energy. Everyone who has worked with Penny has been amazing. Special shout out to the main lead, who was the first person who ever made me feel like my child was meant to be in the pool doing this. I remember the first person time I saw him in the pool with my daughter's old instructor, and he just took over and really got my daughter going. Currently my daughter is with Matt V, who is an amazing instructor, and one of those people that always seems like he is having a good day. My daughter really gets on with him, and Matt truly took up the mantel to try to teach this kid how to swim. There are constantly parents coming up to Matt to tell him how their kid finished in swim competition held at waterworks, they want to show him their kids achievements because you can tell they feel like he had something to do with it. Not only that but the kids love him, they also constantly want to show him how well they did and get his approval. Matt is great with my daughter, constantly pushing her to do better and not allowing her autism get in the way of learning how to swim. It's fun to watch. We love this place, the staff is great, always saying hello and goodbye. They have lots of pools, so when and if your child has an accident and they have to close a pool down, they all just switch to another pool and yeah it's more crowded but everyone can still swim. I love this place, my wife loves this place and most importantly my daughters is welcomed and cared for when she comes through those doors. Irvine Waterworks has been amazing for our family. My son started in the Parent & Me classes at 18 months with Tianna, and we've been with her ever since. When he was about 2.5, we transitioned him into private lessons, and Tianna has been incredible with his progression. Now at 4 years old, Luca can freestyle, backstroke, and is even learning breaststroke. There was a stretch between ages 3 and 3 1/2 where he stalled a bit in his growth, but Tianna never gave up. She stayed patient, consistent, and tried new techniques to help him find his rhythm again--and it worked. We recently went on vacation, and another family even commented on how confidently he swims--diving under the water without hesitation and effortlessly retrieving the little toys I'd toss for him. So thankful for the team at waterworks aquatics. From the enthusiastic and helpful front desk crew (especially Asia!), to the well trained instructors, we've had nothing but a completely positive experience here. My 11 yo son started with some major water anxiety, but instructor Joshua worked patiently with him, developed his confidence and gave him the skills he needed to not only overcome his fear, but also actually feel comfortable and relaxed in the water. Roland worked with my 10 yo daughter and took an already enthusiastic student to another level. He celebrated with her and also gave her the tools to grow in her swimming. Kylee is also the best! Coach Christine had coached my oldest son since he was 13. She knew how to pace their relationship from being strict and instilling a good attitude and stroke sense at a young age and later transitioned to being able to support him in times when he needed it when he hit a plateau. He is now 18 and able to get into mid major D1s /2/ but chose a wonderful D3 with lots of merit scholarship (which literally paid for all the lessons and more)! But more importantly, throughout the years my son had at times wanted to give up due to injuries, but Coach Christine helped correct his stroke so to prevent further shoulder injuries, and she was their to emotionally help him when he needed it. Not all kids may get this treatment, but one thing for sure is Coach Christine truly cares for all her kids and that's why she is invested in them and is there in rain or shine, weekdays or public holidays. She never slacks off and always tries her best to be flexible for the older kids who have other school and meet obligations... We still have a younger son who started even younger with her, and his IM is his strongest stroke thanks to Coach Christine, who has carefully corrected his stroke from a young age. He is not a strong kid, but because his strokes are very clean, he has a good chance against many older (even college) kids. The combination of Coach Christine and also a good swim team coach who does drills is how we felt helped our oldest son succeed and is able to continue in the NCAA.
