We booked Ron and his team for our wedding this past August. He provided DJ services, decor, and lighting. First and foremost, Ron provides top notch customer service. He is very prompt in his responses, provides photos and examples of his decor and lighting. Prior to booking him, we met and discussed pricing etc. He sat with us and went over everything, recommended certain items that would work with our venue, and was overall so fun to work with. We had dj Ron at our wedding this past Saturday and we are so amazed on how well his proformance was. Everything was set up so elegant and lovely. The pattern lights were my favorite. He gave us his opinion on how they should be angled at our hall because he is experienced at DJing there. Ron is an easy guy to work with and he was very enthusiastic about our event. Everyone was on the dance floor at all times. He worked around our schedule. Even though we made one with him I wasn't ready at some points due to me needing touch ups or whatever the case may be. We booked Freelance Event because it was recommended to us for our wedding. The Day of Coordinator (Sofia) mentioned that DJ (Ron) knows the Hidden Acres routine and is a great DJ that enhances the environment. If you take anything from my post please take this advice. We booked him and we were presented with a URL link for us to upload our songs. I made multiple Spotify links with the titles Appetizers, Dances, etc all clearly labeled and to be played when those events begin. We requested via email AND text message for the DJ to not play the whole song and only parts. The DJ ignored our requests and played the whole song so the mood would die down during our dance portion. I went up to him multiple times throughout the day to remind him. When I would go up, he would be off talking to Sofia or EATING. In addition, we requested for the father/daughter and mother/son to be shortened and he kept playing the song AND recording for his Instagram to post. While dancing we waved at him THREE times to tell him to end the dance. NOW for the most irksome part. Like I previously stated, I made playlists for each section of the wedding. For the dance portion, HE DIDN'T PLAY OUR PLAYLIST, he played his. We have a more reserved family and did not want to play "Get Low" and we explicitly talk about not having it at our wedding. BUT HE PLAYED IT and he played the EXPLICIT version at a brunch wedding. Like read the room. Additionally, for our walk-out portion (where people through roses and we exit) he couldn't find our song. So, we had to play a random one. It was highly disappointing because we spent countless hours trying to find the perfect music for us and our guests. Maybe this company has other great DJ's but my experience was not the best (Ron) and I would advise others to ensure that your event goes as planned. Though our guests won't remember all the errors that occurred, we as a couple will. We spent countless time and money to create such a memorable day and all detailed should have been reviewed on their end prior to the event. There is no excuse for the MANY errors that occurred at the wedding. Communication is a FOUNDATIONAL element to running a company/business and Ron has missed the mark. I just made a yelp and wanted to share my experience! I hired this company for my weddings August 22, 2014. I met them at a bridal show and the prices were unbeatable. We had a great time at our wedding in general, the set up that the company did was great, however I had a few problems. When I had my first meeting, Ron said he was going to be our Dj. On my final meeting Ron said his brother, who I met, was going to be the dj. The day of my wedding it was 2 totally different people that I've never met before. I had a special presentation for my fiancé for his bday segment that I talked to Ron about and he made it seem possible. The day of our wedding it did not go as planned with the "unknown" dj. The song that was suppose to be played after my performance was not played! It was Happy Birthday by Stevie Wonder so instead I just had the guest sing Happy Birthday altogether. Then he played it after, which was pointless. Also the dj kept saying our name as "STEVENSON" our name is pronounced "STEPHENS" how could he mess up our name now it's on our wedding video smh!!! I text Ron about the service and I never got a response. And I have proof. My problem is, just don't throw anyone in to Dj if I didn't meet or know anything about them! As I saw many other photos of weddings they services, Ron is always THERE! Photos of the setup and all but I guess we were different to where we couldn't get that same treatment smh!!! Here is the message I sent Ron, I still have it today and he still hasn't responded "Hello Ron, Lijuan and I had a great time, the setup was GREAT, we loved it...however there were a few flaws with the service. I thought your brother that I met the last meeting was going to be our dj. I was highly upset because the Dj that we had did not provide what YOU AND I talked about for the birthday part, He did NOT play the "section" of STEVIE WONDER THAT WE DISCUSSED. It messed up my vision because I had to have EVERYBODY SING THE "REGULAR" happy birthday, also they skipped over the BRIDE-Son dance and I had to make sure that was the FIRST THING we did after dinner, HIS concept of the money dance was NOT A GOOD IDEA, normally the bride and groom both dance together and guest showers them with money, well the dj wanted to have a separate line "girl and boy" to dance with us one on one, FIRST OF ALL, WHAT GUY IS GONNA BE COMFORTABLE TO DANCE ALONE WITH THE BRIDE ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY HAVE A GUEST, THEREFORE THE MONEY DANCE WAS A FAIL UNTIL I JUST SAID EVERYBODY JUST GET UP....I just wish YOU were our dj like you said you would be when we had our first meeting or it would have been your brother that i had met, because I was comfortable and knew it would be great but NOPE IT WASNT because that was most important to me" I am more so not satisfied with the lead on and miscommunication!! I wish I could give Ron more than 5 stars, for really going above and beyond. We had, of course, hired him to DJ our wedding, and in that role he nailed it. He was always courteous and professional in communicating with us before our wedding, and made getting our wedding music right a breeze. We gave him a few songs we definitely wanted played, then gave him leeway by describing broad genres (ex. 80's music, 90's alternative) for him to run with. He kept the party going and our guests loved the music and kept on raving about the DJ. The thing is, Ron didn't just excel in his role as a DJ. Unfortunately, our venue completely let us down. The venue was unprepared, causing our ceremony and reception areas to be moved, and the whole wedding delayed. DJ Ron rolled with the changes with a smile, which helped keep me calm. When our venue wedding coordinator just vanished (before the ceremony even started), it was Ron who stepped in and filled the role. He kept the reception moving and did the things the venue was supposed to be doing for us. For example, during the cake cutting, it was Ron, not the venue, who got us our silverware! We had a beautiful wedding. The MC for the night did help make it a fun night and kept it entertaining. I just had a few things to comment about. We had a great 2 hour meeting going over everything for our wedding. Going over music, color of lights, special monograms, we paid extra for. Come to the day of, lighting was off, no monogram on dance floor, and they didn't even have our first song. (I had to address these issues and they were later fixed) We spent hours/days on our music list and maybe "a few" songs were played from our list. I had my decoration coordinator go up to the MC and ask about playing the game for centerpieces and make the announcement about sign in book, and MC never made the announcement or played game. This time, they get 5 Stars! October 2014: I hired this company to DJ a family party. Everyone I dealt with at Freelance Sound & Lighting was friendly, nice and professional. The DJ arrived on time and kept everyone who wanted to dance on the dance floor. Our DJ was dressed nice (no hip hop clothing or pants falling off). With my prepayment and contract agreement I provided a list of types of music I wanted to hear. I got everything I requested except one genre. Since no one knew about this but me, my guests were more than satisfied. I'd give them 4.75 because of the one genre not played, but since I cannot, I must go with 4. For the record, due to most of the communication taking place the week of the event, I feel there wasn't enough time for the DJ to prepare for all my various music requests. My advice to all, give specific names of songs or band names you really want to hear. I stated play some 80's KROQ music / Richard Blade style, had I listed names of bands and songs I would have likely got everything I wanted. Partially my mistake. Prepayment and signed Contracts are required. I do recommend this service provider and will be using them again. read more

I don't ever really put reviews up but here we go. This DJ service was part of our wedding package back in March. They were ok but it honestly felt like our wedding was an after thought for them and not a priority. I reached out to Ron over a year before our wedding and was told that I would have him as our DJ and that we would meet again in person before the wedding. About a month before our wedding the venue told us to go in for a final detail appointment. With us living in LA and our venue being in the San Bernardino mountains we thought it would be good to meet with Ron while we were out there. So I called him and he said he would be meet us at the venue for the detail appointment. Well he never showed. When I called him he said he must have forgotten. So we have a video chat as our last meeting before my wedding. We went over all the details we wanted and didn't want. Honestly we didn't really care about any of it except one thing. We didn't want to do a garter toss. Well a month later on our wedding day we find out at the reception that Ron couldn't make it. He didn't even bother to call us. We ended up with Ann (she was amazing. Everyone loved her. She got everyone dancing. It was great). The problem was that it felt like all the things we discussed with Ron were not communicated to Ann. We were really clear that we did not want to do a garter toss. I didn't even have a garter. Well Ann announced it was about to happen. I told her multiple times that we didn't want to do it and that we didn't even have a garter. She still went ahead with it. She gave my husband one of the bouquets and told him to put it under my dress to grab. Which we didn't do because we thought that was ridiculous. We were both so confused and embarrassed. It was very annoying. All of our guests could see we were visibly upset and confused. I felt like that ruined a part of our night. Overall the wedding day was no where near perfect with rain and many other complications so I felt like this made it a little worse. The communication with freelance was terrible and it created a situation that was very avoidable. I see all these events they do that everyone is so happy about and I wish I had the same experience. read more
