So it was time to head to EFix, glad to have this new business close by rather then heading into Silverdale or Poulsbo! Mike took my call ordered a new battery that took less than a day to receive. Once I came in, he was able to swap my battery out in half an hour. I also had another issue with my lens and he identified the problem instantly and was able to clean and re-glue my lens that was loose on my old iphone. She walked me through how I could get a postage paid certified mail label to her. I emailed her the label and the document and she reached out to the gentleman, met him at his house and notarized it. She also brought it to the post office to be mailed back to me. She only charged me $50 and the signer didn't have to be inconvenienced by trying to find a notary himself. I knew I wanted to replace the original wall with something that reflected local scenes but had no idea of how even to articulate what I wanted. Fortunately, Ben Brager had endless ideas of what that wall replacement might look like and with the patience of Job emailed me design after iterated design until all the elements came together for me. Large herons, shore birds, cat tails and grasses growing out of the water the birds are wading through. Not only is it a beautiful work of art, it is also up to code so that nothing can fall through it to the stairs below. The metal design was pleasing enough as it was but Ben was able to use acid washes to bring different color finishes to the piece. When I first saw the panels I fumbled and mumbled and bumbled suggestions as to how the colors might work. Ben politely nodded and then set out to make it even more beautiful than I could ever have imagined. As the light moves and changes during the day, so do the colors of the heron panels, bringing them almost to life and creating an ever new scene. Throughout the process from the inception of an idea all the way through to installation, Ben could not have been nicer to work with. I honestly do not have enough superlatives to describe my experience with Monarch Metals--Ben, Pam and Todd-- and would urge anyone who has the inklings of any project large or small, indoors or out, to call them.
