I have never been more impressed with a business! I took my 2007 highlander here because it was having electrical problems. Having read online about potential issues I was preparing myself for bad news when I made my online appointment. The positive experience started when they called me that day and said I could bring my car in same day if I did not mind leaving it with them. This was great because it move my repair up two weeks! From the beginning their were upfront about expectations, troubleshooting electrical could be time consuming. Rather than keep charging until they fixed it, we agreed to a regular check in after every few hours of labor t give me an update on progress as well as keeping me updated on the costs in case I needed to call it quits. The communication was excellent from start to finish. In the end, their technicians found the problem and fixed it for far less than I was anticipating. They also provided a detailed summary of the work done and items they noticed during their inspections and repairs. No pressure to do more than I signed up for, just informational and very much appreciated. I will only be bringing my vehicles to Matt's in the future! read more

Exemplary service!! I can't tell you how impressed I have been with the service at Matt's. Daily follow up calls by Brianna or Megan, always making sure I am completely appraised of what is going on. The link with the detailed inspection report on issues they found was supported by lots of pictures. Special shout out to Alex B, my service technician. Matt's is a great place to go if you want to avoid the dealer but also want the confidence that your mechanic is competent. Matt is honest and doesn't overcharge and I would bet they are cheaper than going to a dealership. I had a problem with my cars power and couldn't pinpoint the cause. It wasn't showing up on any fault codes. I was scared going to the mechanic would cost a bunch, but Matt and the guys found the problem, got a great deal on the part and only charged me for a half hour of labor. Which is nice because some places won't do that, even though I knew it was a half hour job. I left happy and so did my car. Hope this review helps someone someday read more

Two issues with Matt's over Mini service 1) they diagnosed an oil pan leak that would have required significant dollars to repair. Took the mini to the dealer and they did not see the same issue and did not recommend repair. I know of other Mini owners on Whidbey who have had their oil pan repaired for the 'leak'. Seems like diagnosing something that doesn't need remaining is a common small shop tactic and the owners at Matt's are doing this. 2)Took mini in for an electrical problem that I had diagnosed and asked them to repair the defective part. They did diagnostics and wanted to do and did much more repair work than I asked for them to do. Round and round with them and they finally ended up replacing the part I originally asked them to replace and 'graciously', they said, didn't charge me for the other work they did. Small shop diagnosing nonexistent issues and overcharging, or trying to overcharge. Not recommended. read more

If you are looking for an honest and knowledgable mechanic, look no further. My family and I stumbled upon Matt's Import Haven when our 6 yr old Volvo wagon died. Matt and his expert crew were able to diagnose the problem and make the repair quickly and at a very reasonable cost. The staff is very friendly and always make sure you are completely satisfied. This place is a joke ! They wanted to charge 1/2 hr labor to change the air filter that takes 2 minutes ! Then the air filter was going to be marked up almost twice as much as the dealer! They didn't replace it as they did not have the filter in yet and wanted us to bring it back the next day to finish! When I saw what they wanted I just said remove it from the bill ! Went to Napa and got one for $25 and was done , not close to $100 for air filter replacement!!! read more

Surprisingly bad communicators (since their Facebook page here tells you the opposite and their customer ratings are so high). 1. Website allows you to set an appointment onliine, but doesn't say that you can't do that if you're a new customer so I had to call in to make the appointment that I thought I had already set up. 2. I ended up having to schedule my appointment 8 days after the day I had identified on their website with no explanation. 3. I was sent an email calling me by the wrong name. Apparently, the employee (Scott) who logged my appointment on the computer didn't ask me for me my name and just used the 'incorrect' one that showed up on his phone (this was never apologized for - just explained). 4. I arrived when I was told to come in (8:30am - when they open) and asked specifically how long it be before I know the result of my inspection so I can then know how long it take them to do any of the repairs. After a long wait, I'm finally told 10am with no explanation. I found out later someone had been taken in before me because I was listed as a "drop-off" appointment. I had never requested that type of appointment and nor was I told what kind of appointments were available (and this was only brought to my attention by Matt, who basically said in an abrasive way that I was a drop-off appointment not a waiting appointment so I shouldn't wait around AND that the car would now not be ready until 11:15am). 6. After killing as much time as I could, walking around Clinton, I returned about 11am. No one greeted me when I returned nor gave me any information. 7. At 11:25am Scott came in and half-jokingly (I assume) told me there was a long list of things wrong with my car. This gave me the impression that there was something seriously wrong with my car. Turns out there were only many minor things. We also spent several wasted minutes minutes discussing the gas cap evaporation issue when all I was saying was that the fact that the check engine light goes off when the problem isn't actually rectified is not that helpful. 8. Some of the repairs that they listed seemed to contradict some of the work that had been down my other mechanics. So this made me a little skeptical of their work. 9. Scott then told me that I would set up another appointment to fix any of these repairs. I was NEVER given the impression that I wasn't going to get my car fixed that day. Scott argued with me that he had told me on the phone that there had to be an inspection first to know what repairs need attending to. I agreed he said that but he never told that those repairs would be done on another day, and I had told him on the phone I had limited days off to bring the car in. He told me that this was how it normally works and that I should've known this. To this, I told him how patient I had been all that morning in light of all the things I had previously mentioned and he offered no apology or anything that showed he was concerned that he had inconvenience me . As a potentially brand new customer, I was amazed that they would want to leave such an incredibly bad impression on me. Even with their reputation (as stated in all these other reviews), I find it hard to believe that I am the only customer who has had this experience. I'd recommend you find someone else to get your car serviced. read more
