Freeplay located along College St. near Spadina offers unlimited play of arcade and console games. There are also drinks and food available for purchase as well. The space covers two floors where there are bars available on both the first and second floor. There are tables on the second floor if you'd like to sit and grab food and drinks. There is a $5 cover charge you pay when you enter. They also have coat check ($2) and bag check ($2) available as well. Staff do ask for ID at front desk since I assume that many university students hang out there. Once ID is checked they stamp your hand. My work decided to hit up Freeplay on a weeknight for our team gathering. We figured it would be a good way to let loose after work. We were able to reserve some tables on the 2nd floor prior. Upon arrival at Freeplay, we all paid the $5 cover charge (cash only) where our IDs were checked. Making my way around the space, there were many retro games available to play, which was pretty cool. Food and drink wise, Freeplay has a large selection of craft beers and ciders as well as a cocktail list. Food wise, they have burgers, pizza, fries, etc. (think pub food but more limited). They do have daily specials depending what night you go. The night that we went, the special was a burger (with fries). Service wise, staff come around to grab your order where you do pay after making your order. If you plan on grabbing multiple rounds of food and drink you can also start a tab as well. Overall, there are many older arcade games that bring back childhood memories. Can't go wrong with unlimited play for only $5! Even for a Thurs night after 5pm, the place was busy with customers (mainly students I believe). Great place to have a great time playing arcade games!

Had a great time at FreePlay. You pay one price and you get to play as long as you wish. People under 19 must vacate the premises by a certain time in the evening. They had various video games, driving game, shooting games, pinball machines (I wish there were more), basketball hoops, game, a Wii Station, and an area upstairs towards the window where you can watch movies on a small TV. Some of the machines needed servicing as some games stopped responding to controls. Also, we're not sure how clean the machines might have been, as one of our eyes were burning from possible dust while inside.

What a cute spot! Only $5 admission for unlimited play! The spot is adorable inside with lots of nostalgic vintage games such as old school nintendo 65, jumbo jenga, street fighter and more. It's two floors with lots of game options to play with. I had a great time here with my friends as it kept us entertained before our dinner reservation. The only reason this is not a 5 star review is because their shooter are so sweet, it tastes like pure syrup. Think they can definitely do better with their bar menu by having actual bar rail drinks that are easy to sip on, and a crowd favourite. However, they had many cans of sippers that looked super cool/ colourful and as pleasing to the eye. Come here to play games, hang out but skip the shooters!

If you like the 1980-2000 era or want to feel some childhood nostalgia? FreePlay is a great place to visit for some retro arcade games while enjoying food and drinks! It's definitely a fun vibe with music from Duran Duran to Britney Spears to TLC, etc. Games consist of Pac Man, Wii, Sega, Nintendo Maria Smash Bros, Basketball, Foosball, Dance Dance Revolution, and many more. I've been here twice, both for events - one for Yelp Elite and another a corporate social that I organized. Make a reservation as it gets busy after 5:30 pm. They open at 5 pm. They have 2 floors with seating and washrooms on the 2nd and a bar on each floor for drinks. Food is typical pub fare with my favourite being the fried mac and cheese! Staff are pretty easy going and friendly, good casual venue space. Please note it is not accessibility friendly though as they have a lot of stairs and washrooms are quite small.

This place was awesome! For $5 you can kill some time with classic arcade games and video games from all eras. Some of the machines seem a bit out of order but since you can play all you want, it wasn't a big deal.

FreePlay is a thing on ig. BBQ oh yeah.

Ok I'll jump on this juicy FTR! Just because something's a hit on UE or ig doesn't mean it's too cool for Yelp! Very hip spot in a great location. Steps from UT and across the street almost from Kensington FreePlay is a games bar but also a fun place to order food from. Maybe dine in too but that will have to wait until they open up. When I walked in the place had a buzz in the air and that was only from the staff!! Someone walked in with boxes of canned beer which is always a good thing. They feature a large selection of craft beers but the main food partner to the bar is the Montreal Smoked Meat. Sammies are the main on the menu along with the typical sides, but they also sell poutine which goes together like bacon and eggs, especially in 100% of Quebec. There are two different cuts of Smoked Meat, and I opted for the Old Fashioned vs the regular. OF has a higher fat content which adds flavour and juiciness. Whenever I go to Quebec I get this sandwich as it's always good. The combo is great value with the vinegar Cole slaw, many kosher pickles and a Pop Shoppe glass bottle drink. I got the signature Black Cherry. Yum, I was in heaven! The meal was filling! There's options for a snack size , as well as the Beard of Zeus 2 pound version, awesome! There are two other restaurants/ chefs operating in this co-op of a kitchen, but I've only tried Montreal Smoked Meat so far. The others look equally as impressive! What a hit!!

I've had such an amazing time there with my friend, I relived my childhood memories by playing some nostalgic games. Strongly recommended

Spent the weekend in Toronto (arriving from Chicago) for a retro gaming tournament (nhl '94) held at FreePlay Toronto and it was a tremendous experience. My only wish that I am hoping that we could perhaps improve for next year is the amount of time alotted to us to play through the tourney. Perhaps some goodwill was established this year that may be taken into consideration for next year. Atmosphere -- I really enjoyed this ambience of the arcade. Reminds me a lot of Logan's Arcade in Chicago with the exposed brick and rows of arcade machines. While the pic may seem like the venue is very narrow, I was surprised how wide and deep each floor actually is. It was kept relatively dark in the interior which is great since glare is kept to a minimum. Also, the temperature was perfect inside which is always important for when a place starts to get crowded. Service -- honestly, I think Chicago has a lot learn from Toronto in terms of service. The staff was all tremendously friendly and helpful. Most notably, Mai is exactly what a place that promotes a fun environment needs. Not only is her warm and energetic personality extremely welcoming, she is incredibly responsive and attentive. I wish I could have fedex'ed her directly to every and any restaurant in West Loop back home. haha Thank you FreePlay for an amazing weekend and I look forward to visiting next time I'm in Toronto!

Visited Freeplay for their J-Pop on the patio event, but severe weather canceled the original plan of a DJ and Japanese street food on the featured menu. Regardless the owner still played Jpop for us on the patio speakers and we ordered their regular offering of Montreal Smoked Meat sandwiches. These taste about the same as ones from Montreal! If you are like me and like extra fatty meat, then select the "old Montreal style" option. It melts in your mouth. The regular style is leaner but still well flavored. Size wise they have snack sizes for the light eaters and if you are especially hungry, you can get the Zeus size sandwich for an absurd stack of meat. I don't eat bread and there weren't non-bread options but they accommodated me with a deconstructed version. Their 80+ beer menu is sure to please beer needs out there looking for craft brews or imports you can't get at the LCBO. They also have a selection of nerd themed cocktails. I got the Dark & Yoshi which was essentially a dark and stormy. While the food is good, the main attraction is the arcade itself. We went pre-indoor opening so only got a brief tour but there are lots of arcade cabinets, tables set up with various retro consoles to play, a stage area for stand-up comedy/music, and even Instagram photo op areas. I will definitely have to come back in the future to play some games now that they are allowed to host people inside. The owners also plan to keep featuring rotating food guests so there's always something new to try here.

One of the bartenders was a guy, and he was just very straightforward, did not smile at us, and honestly, when I asked certain questions about the menu, he responded with comments as if I should know what the menu means. I just didn't like his attitude at all, and it really threw me off, but because we had a voucher through the hotel, it's the only reason why we gave it a go for the first night and didn't end up going back the remainder of the time that we were there.

That towering slice of chocolate cake, in particular, is a masterstroke of marketing and pastry craft in equal measure; it draws the eye, earns its reputation, and very nearly steals the show. Where LOUIX LOUIS gives one pause is in the cuisine's ability to fully match its surroundings. The cooking is accomplished and reliably pleasant, yet seldom rises to the level of genuine distinction one might hope for at this price point.
