Stopped by the Cactus Club Cafe in Toronto after the Blue Jays game. This is a great spot for late night drinks/food. When you arrive you have the option to sit on the first floor or upstairs on the rooftop bar. I believe this is the only multi-level Cactus Club Cafe I've ever been to. We opted for the rooftop bar which had a high energy, upscale, and stylish vibe to it. We ended up sitting at the bar as it was very crowded. I ordered a frozen Aperol Spritz which was excellent and I could drink a few of these. For food we ordered a burger and fries which was good but nothing to write home about. If you are looking for a late night spot for drinks and food the Cactus Club Cafe is a solid choice. read more

July 8/2026: Dinner after the theatre with my Al! There was a bit of a wait before we landed a table at the upstairs bar. The place SEEMED quiet but shortly thereafter the place got JAMMED! Initially it was slow service but it picked up shortly. We had several different servers so no single server is tagged here. I will say that it's a hip, nicely equipped restaurant. We decided to do an appie meal. We ordered Sichuan Chicken lettuce wraps ($25.50)..this was the best of the appies. The next was the Crab Dip ($20.75), it was hot but not overly tasty. 3rd was the Hot Chicken Bites with pickles ($16.00). They were ok but not hot in temp enough. The final was the Chili Citrus Calamari ($21.25). This was the worse of the dishes. Simply put, it was cold. The server removed this from our bill. We go here whenever we don't want to cook. The food, service, and ambiance is super consistent. The food is tasty and good happy hour out of most happy hours in the area! Great for lunches, especially during patio season when the third floor roof is open. At night, it's moody and dark, lit by candles on the table and the tvs at every corner with sports playing or generic videos. Dishes that I always get are the creole blackened chicken, avocado kale salad and truffle fries. The sunset soda is also a great, cheap and low calorie drink. We had a great time at this restaurant. The staff are friendly, and the service is relatively fast. We had the late night happy hour menu sushi rolls with shrimp, and the burgers and fries. Overall, a decent place with a solid happy hour deal, although I wish it extended at least until 6 PM. I also wish their happy hour would be more expansive and include more food options as I've had better happy hour experiences. While the food was okay, the customer service can benefit from improvement. Going into the restaurant (10 minutes before we arrived) we checked the booking page and they had plenty of tables available but upon coming in, we were told that they don't really have any tables. I mentioned the website and was told that sometimes "it's wrong". After all back and forth, they did place us at the bar but it took a while to get the order in and the staff were barely checking in on us. If you are ever in Downtown Toronto, I definitely recommend trying Cactus Club! It's one of my favourite places to eat at in the city, and the food never misses. Service can be a hit or miss depending on the time of day you go, as they are usually quite busy. When its comes to the food all I can say is, that it is AMAZING! Good thing we had reservations. Despite how busy it was we were seated right away and our server Sarah was an absolute gem. Our drinks came out quickly and well made. They have a great wine list and we took advantage of it. So, ambience - check. Service - check. But it was the food that blew us away I started with the Wagyu carpaccio that emma's to die for. Just perfect with the crostinis. The my wife had the avocado bowl with salmon and I had the mushroom striploin. Both meals just freaking delicious- these folks have it down to a science and the food was off the charts. The tuna and avocado were fresh and it was really flavourful. The calamari was sliced thinly and lightly battered, seasoned well with an almost five-spice taste. Really enjoyable. I ordered the spaghetti portafino which I was so pleasantly surprised with. I didn't know I'd enjoy it so much. It had lots of prawns and a bit lobster but the texture of pasta with the fennel chilli crumb really completed the dish. My friend ordered the crispy tofu bowl, which I forgot to snap a photo of, but he swears by it and orders it every time he's there, so it must be good. We came after a ball game on a Thursday night. The place was filled but there were spots at the first floor bar. The food was excellent, small bites at larger prices, but excellent. The drinks... I could write a book. One of our drinks was the peach Bellini (which one of the reviews recommended and they were not wrong). It's small but mighty. This drink is premade in a machine and hard for a bartender to mess up. I ordered a Long Island. It came like lemon seltzer water. Absolutely no alcohol, perhaps they thought I ordered a zero? I sent it back. The next... a vodka martini. That's as basic as you can get. It still came wrong. The top of the martini was watered down, the bottom pure vodka. I used to love the food at this place. Went for dinner recently. Not happy hour. Ordered from normal menu and got this salmon aburi. The pieces were ridiculously small and clearly cut in halves. Usually these are in rectangular shape from when I started eating here in 2016. Price has gone up but the portions are deceivingly being reduced. Not to mention front of house is so disorganized. Kept everyone waiting in the lobby and not really asking anyone if they need help. Everyone thought everyone else was in line but they were just waiting around. Probably won't come back unless for happy hour. The bar tenders were super nice but saw loads of them playing around with the cucumber and lemon with their bare hands after touching payment machines and money, jokingly shoving the garnishing in each other's faces before returning it to the container to be served to customers. They were poking fun at how poorly the garnishing were cut by the kitchen. Definitely didn't order a drink after seeing that. read more

The food was delicious, and worth the price, the service however, left much to be desired. My partner and I went to this location this past Monday at 7, while it is a busy time of day, Monday's are generally more relaxed. Our waitress left us for a good 15 minutes to decide on drinks after she sat us. While this was not an egregious time frame, we were also left with our empty plates for an additional 15 minutes. This combined with a dirty stack of dishes left next to our table the entirety of our meal. We were sat in view of the bar and witnessed MANY workers pass by without clearing the plates. We had made our reservation a month in advance and specified it was a Birthday (also did not receive a "birthday" dessert either, as is usually expected at a restaurant when celebrating), while under no circumstance a customer should be left next to an un-bussed table for an hour, it was especially disappointing given the day. I would recommend a person order take out for the food rather than eat in given the lack of care I witnessed from the waitstaff. I was really excited to go here, but I unfortunately will not be coming back. I can't justify paying the price of the food combined with service that simply was not up to par, for any establishment. If the staff can't handle a Monday at 7, I can't imagine what the weekend looks like! read more

Wonderful experience at Cactus Club! We came around the winter holidays for lunch on a weekday and were seated on the second floor. Weekday lunches here definitely skew toward a Financial District workers crowd. It was pretty busy but we had a reservation which saved us time waiting. We had a very pregnant person in our party, so was glad to see an elevator in case she needed to use it. The whole place has a very cozy vibe, despite being such a huge location! Our server was wonderful and gave us some recommendations as well! The food we got was all delicious and perfect! Portions were good, tasted good, and looked good too! We asked for the appetizers to come out first, which took about 10 mins. The rest of the food took about another 10-15 mins to come out. The ambiance was nice I went on a midday on a Wednesday and it was packed they were playing good music and it wasn't to loud. The food was AMAZING the sushi was really good very balanced not to much rice I would've liked a larger portion of ginger considering the amount of sushi, the salad was good nicely dressed not soggy very fresh and the toppings complemented eachother well, the drinks were delicious if you aren't into sweet drinks I'd skip this one but over all very good. Finally the blackened chicken this is my go to dish when I eat out and when I say this is the BEST I've had the chicken was so juicy and flavourful seasoned so well the mashed potaoes were so creamy and light the asparagus was a nice side and went well with the dish. The atmosphere is great. We sat on the rooftop balcony. This is a great meet up for dinner, friends and celebrations. The music is a little loud for easy conversation. But the urban music was great! They were playing a good mash up of popular hits. Our waiter was so pleasant, and helpful. We had plenty of drinks. The Bellini was a popular choice if you like sweet drinks. As for food; the tacos were a favorite amongst our table. I found the tacos to be over battered, but that's a personal preference. I have been to other Cactus Clubs and have usually had a really good experience. We have been to this location twice and have had issues both time asking for a plain burger. Both times were very clear - no toppings, no condiments just burger bacon and bun. Last time they brought it out with everything on it and then brought it out again with everything scraped off so still remnants of condiments on it so we had to ask for a third try. We joked about it going into this visit and again were very specific. The burger had to be brought out four times before it was correct this time. Server said the manager would come and talk to us but then he was "too busy". Calamari wasn't warm (minor issue) but the rest of the food and drinks we ordered were good. If you have specific instructions or need something special from the menu I would avoid this location. read more

Very nicely lit, feels like a classy atmosphere, and everything flows nicely... from the structure, to the lighting, and service. Only negative is it's a bit too noisy to be able to chat with your company, but still a great ambiance. Service: 4/5. Very friendly waiters and waitresses, only giving a less star because we had to wait a bit longer than expected for the waitress to come and ask for our bill. However, she was very friendly and great during the meal itself. Food: Creole Chicken 4.2/5 - I really enjoyed this dish. The butter is so tasty, the same as what's on the creole steak and prawns.
