Decided to stop by King Taps after attending an orchestra at Roy Thompson Hall. It never disappoints! King Taps is usually quite busy, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. We ended up sitting at the bar since we were walk-ins. It is also a very low light restaurant, especially at night. so it might not be the best place for older adults or those who are visually impaired. Service was good, however, we were somewhat forgotten at times since we were tucked away in a dark corner. We ended up ordering the Truffle Fries, the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka pasta, the Korean Chicken, and the Vodka Pie. The truffle fries were crisp and plentiful. We added sausage to the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka pasta, and it was delicious paired with the pizza. The Korean Chicken were bite sized and flavourful as well. However, The vodka Pie haunts me in my dreams. I think I crave this pizza about every week. The pizza at King Taps has one of the best crusts I've ever had, and the vodka sauce is to die for. King taps is not my usual happy hour choice but we wanted a change of pace and the leafs game was on. They always put the leafs game on when they're playing which is Mae's them a reliable game spot. Over the past couple of years I felt their food quality has slowly declined but today was different. Way exceeded my expectations. We started with a corona zero and ranch water (passion fruit flavour) we were both really happy with it. The didn't skimp on the tequila. We started with the Brussels sprouts which is always a great choice from here. Crispy on the outside and not an overwhelming Brussels sprout taste. This is likely because there is a generous sprinkling of grated parm and a great amount of dip. We tried the crispy tuna sushi. The tuna was beautifully marinated, so flavourful. And the sushi was nice and crispy. The vodka pie was a seasonal item and when we saw it listed, we knew we needed to try it. The sauce- amazing, the press was nice and flaky and light and really tasty. And the soccer Sada added nice saltines and flavour without being too overwhelming. Huge selection of beer on draught. I counted over 20 taps, so you should have no problem finding a beer you like. Service was friendly, not too fast after sitting down, but didn't have to wait too long to order either. King Taps is a gem! We are visiting from the states and we're looking for a place to watch the Argentina futbol game. Found that KT takes reservations so we booked a table for dinner and the game. We were seated right on time and Abbey, our amazing waitress, greeted us straight away. We ordered drinks while we looked at starters. Ultimately we decided on the burrata and prosciutto and it was excellent. Schmeared fresh burrata on toast points and added prosciutto...divine! Eventually we added a margarita pizza which we also loved. They are Neapolitan style so crazy thin, light sauce and fresh mozzarella. The crust has a lovey chew to it. Just a great pie! Later on we added the sticky toffee pudding. It's spectacular! A lovely cake with a caramel tuille on top and a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream with a lovely caramel sauce surrounding it. If you're looking for a quiet date night, this most definitely is not the place for you. King Taps is the type of place you want to go out with a group of friends for a drink after work. This place is loud and crowded always. I find it always hard to track down your server because of how dark and crowded this place is. In terms of food, they have some good bar food options including Mini Macks and Truffle Fries. For mains I would suggest getting the Spicy Vodka Rigatoni. 6/10 recommend! read more

Came here for summerlicious. We had the baby gem Caesar salad and Brussel sprouts to start. Both were very tasty with lots of parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs on top, but were small "side" servings instead of appetizer size servings. For our mains we had the salmon fresca and the $16 upgrade to the 12oz rib eye steak (base is 8oz sirloin). It's a bit odd. Everything tasted good, but the salmon, steak, and even broccolini were very tough and hard to chew. I even had to use a knife on the salmon. The steak was requested a medium rare, and was more so between a medium and medium well. Desserts were the pretzel brownie and the caramel duo. Caramel duo was extremely sweet, brownie was warm and delicious. It was $45 per person, plus the one $16 upgrade. Interior inside is lively, casual bar environment, with pretty loud music playing. Kind of reminds me of the Warehouse, or Jack Astor's. There is outdoor seating as well. Service was very slow. We ordered as soon as we were seated and had our mains 50 minutes after we ordered. Our desserts were also delayed, and we were there for 1h45mins in total. They also gave us the wrong menu, then didn't give utensils. They looked fairly understaffed, as I saw the same 2 waitresses running around. The other tables nearby were also waiting for their mains. The table next to us had the main redone as the chicken was left out the first time. The summerlicious items are the same as the regular menu, with the apps smaller serving sizes so it's a good way to try lots of items. If you're looking for a lively place to catch up with friends this may be a good spot as some items were good. For us, the long wait times and tough/overcooked steak and salmon means we will be opting for the many other options nearby instead. For over $100 before tax and tip, I was expecting a bit better. read more

Came in for a business lunch the other day and enjoyed the meal. Service wasn't too slow (though not sure I'd say it was quick either). I got a pizza, a couple people got the peri peri chicken, and some people got power bowls. All the food looked quite good. Plates were all cleaned. The pizza is too large for one meal I'd say which is great because it meant that both I and the other individual with pizza each left with 2-3 slices to take home. It's a classic medium crust pizza - thin in the middle with a fluffy ring around the outside. The soppressatta was good and I liked the parmesan dip as well. Only odd thing was that the roof patio is outside which is awesome in the summer, but they don't fully enclose it in the winter so you get a balance of heat lamps balanced with cold weather. Ii went there after work on a chilly evening. It was quite busy but what stood out to me was their patio was full too. I was wondering why and then i choose to take a seat at patio and no wonder why it was popular even on a chilly evening. They have heaters outside and not only that, generally you will find people going there directly after office and women dressed up in skirt or dresses, i am not sure whether this is every season but they have blanket/ cover ups at each chair. I first noticed that what is this blue color thing and why everyone is having it, bt later i realised why. First time at King Taps. We made reservations to watch the first World Series game. Service was impeccable. Our server was amazing, actually everyone we encountered was great! Friendly, helpful, and engaging. Amazing staff! I was starving. After a conference I ran that day and really didn't get to eat much I just wanted something filling. I ordered the 8oz strip with truffle fries, Caesar salad and peppercorn sauce for the steak. The steak was overdone, but I still ate it. They forgot the peppercorn sauce but promptly brought it out. Food took long to come out but it was expected. It was packed for the game. The steak being overly done had a grainy texture, the peppercorn sauce was ok, it made the steak palatable but it was hard to finish. The truffle fries were also ok, the sauce that came with it was just average,It really didn't add much to the fries and that truffle taste wasn't really there. What was ridiculous was the amount of cheeses dusting over the fries, it was a mountain of cheese, falling all over the sides and extremely messy. The parm, the salted fries and the sauce made for an overly salty bite. Now the Caesar salad was just inedible. It was basically overly sauced, with an insane amount of Parmesan and then topped with that crushed croutons nonsense. It was salty and messy to eat. I left most of it. The main reason why I didn't complain, ask for a refund or anything was the amount of time the food took to get to us but also, the restaurant was busy and to be honest I was so hungry and light headed from not eating the entire day, I just needed food in my stomach. I finished the steak and left the fries and the salad. I couldn't really give this place 1 or 2 stars. It was a wonderful place, they have an upper area, lower area and a really nice patio and the staff was amazing. My friend ordered the stinging bee pizza that was delicious. King Taps is the kind of place you walk into and immediately want to hang out for a while. They've got a huge 25+ selection of beers on tap. The menu is surprisingly extensive for a bar, with lots of options that go beyond basic pub food. We didn't end up eating this time, but the burgers coming out of the kitchen looked incredible, and I'm already planning a return trip just to try one. Overall, it's a great spot to grab a drink, sample a few different beers, and relax. I'm definitely looking forward to going back and finally diving into the food menu. This bar and restaurant is conveniently located close to many offices in the financial district. It's very spacious with multiple floors as well as outdoor seating and patios. I came here after work with some friends on a Friday evening. We made a reservation just to make sure we could get a spot. The server was very nice but it took over an hour for our food to arrive at the table. We got a few drinks. The margarita pizza, some chicken burgers, and bang bang shrimp. The food is pretty mediocre, would say that the only thing that was above average was the pizza. Portions are okay and prices are pretty average for downtown as well. There was a live DJ as well. The washrooms were very busy although the restaurant was about a third full. Overall not a bad experience but the food is not the best. The buzz is this place has awesome pizza but went for brunch! Solid spot. Had their version of a Huevos rancheros. I'll admit I've had better but their version has a spin where the ly use a soft tortilla bread under the eggs. I liked the flavour - it just could have had more something. We did NOT make one, and had to initially sit at the busy bar...someone was smiling down on us though, because we were able to get a table after all upstairs and it worked out great!
