I woke up today craving 3 Golpes. My cousin looked up this place we got in the car and went . This place was the highlight of my morning ! The place is small fits around 40 people tops a lot of foot traffic and they have a full bar. I ended up eating pernil and arroz con gandules and my cousin had the 3 golpes. There was so much food to choose from everything was freshly made . It did not disappoint. To drink I had passion fruit juice and she had lemonade not AMAZING . HORRIFIC, service, the people act like they are doing you a favor to order your food. 9 employees all seem busy, restaurant is small, but they are all busy to greet you it help order food. The hot food comes out cold. When I asked the owner for the owner he said he wasn't the owner, when he was. Mied to my face. Had previously ordered a delivery with them the driver was banging my door down within three minutes. I genuinely wanted to like this place, but my experience was disappointing from start to finish. The staff was surprisingly unkind and insisted they would be fined for serving my meal in a to go container, which was odd considering the entire restaurant is currently under construction. If anything, eating out of a takeout container felt much safer than eating in a space with exposed floors and construction workers actively carrying materials past our table as we tried to eat. To make matters worse, the food arrived cold, and the inside of the restaurant was even colder. They refused to split our bill and still charged us an extra percentage fee for dining in even though the place does not even have a finished floor at the moment. Between the environment, the service, and the unexpected charges, this was easily one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences I have had and I hope management takes these issues seriously. read more

Although the food is good, the customer service is disgusting. The women in there have no hospitality and they are racist. I'm afraid every time I go in there and it's simply because I don't speak Spanish. The owner does not care. We both love Dominican food but were disappointed with this restaurant (its actual name is Dominican Restaurant2). Service was slow, the only person who seemed to care that we were there (and waiting, and waiting) was an older woman who was cleaning and drying the forks, knives, etc. & who told the waitresses that we were waiting a long time for water refills & our food. We almost felt like we were not welcome. The Mofongo con pollo was dry and lacked flavor, even with the tomato sauce that was added on top, but the chicharrones de pollo were crispy and fried perfectly. Prices are moderate, portions are large, the menu is extensive, the place is clean, has multiple hot trays behind the counter & it appears that it does a brisk business in take-out. I was craving bandeja paisa last and Freeport Dominican Restaurant delivered!! I mean that both figuratively AND literally. They partner with Grubhub so ordering directly through their Yelp page was super convenient. When the food arrived, I was so surprised when I saw how big the platter was. It literally arrived in an aluminum tray and for only $16.20, it was steal! With tip, tax and the $1 delivery fee, was about $22 in total. The food looked so darn good and it made me feel even more ravenous that I didn't even bother breaking out a plate. Heck, I felt like I was even wasting precious eating time when I went to my kitchen to grab silverware! If I had to pick two words to describe the meal then they would be... absolutely scrumptious. If you have never tried bandeja paisa before that I highhhly recommend you order it from Freeport Dominican Restaurant. It's basically white rice, beans, chicharrón, chorizo, beef steak, fried egg, plantains and avocado... a delightful hodgepodge of dominican perfection. Always a pleasure ordering and picking up my food here. The ladies that work the food bar are friendly and service with a smile is the motto for each day. The food is made fresh everyday and is always delicious! And believe me, I've tried many things on the menu. It's a sit down restaurant and they serve beer and liquor. Before COVID, we have enjoyed dining in as well. They also have a counter where you can sit and enjoy a plate while talking with the friendly man behind it. I love Spanish food since I'm Spanish and my boyfriend is Dominican. We decided to try this Dominican food by us. The tostones, rice and salad with were good. The mofongo was too dry for me, it came with a sauce to pour on top but it was still a bit dry. We had it delivered! It was really good! The oven roasted chicken family dinner was enough for three people. We had garlic shrimp, pernil, chicharron, plenty of rice, beans (black and red) and beef empanadas. Everything was delicious! I don't know how the restaurant looks because we did delivery so can't comment on appearance or COVID-19 but I can say if you are in need for some Dominican food this place is a definite must! read more

When we moved to Wantagh I was dieing to find a great Spanish food place & this one fit the bill. It's so yummy! We always get boneless chicken cracklings with white rice & beans. Also yellow rice with pigeon peas. We generally can only order on weekends because they don't deliver to our area which is the only reason I gave them 4 stars.
