I used to buy Sabor Dominicano a lot a few years back, It was always a great experience and food was delicious, unfortunately I can't say the same anymore. The rice was dry and tasteless, it had a consistency as if it was from the day before and I picked up at 4:30 pm, chicken was ok but the beans were watery and tasteless as if tgey just open a can of beans and put it in a plastic container, and last but not least I walked in and there was a lady at the register paying and a gentleman been served at the counter, staff did not even made eye contact, I waited a little bit by the pick up station and girls were going in and out of the kitchen without making eye contact or even asking if I was been helped, one more person came into the restaurant and I decided to speak up and ask for my order and they were not even sure if it was my order because they kept asking among themselves (4 waitresses) who has prep my order, at the end one handed it to me and said this is your check it to make sure it is what you order because I don't know. This is my last time going to this place, it is definitely not what it used to be and if they don't take care of the complaints but mostly their staff, food quality and customer service I don't think will be in business for a longer period of time which is a shame because they used to be the #1 Dominican restaurant. read more

Very much enjoyed take out tonight. Purnil, garlic shrimp, plantains, San cancho soup, rice and beans, white rice, avocado, salad, oxtail, all the goodies. Food wasn't too over seasoned which I appreciated. I'm happily adding whatever spice I want. The staff couldn't have been nicer and the dining room looked incredible. The French dressing was great! I decided to give this place another try for breakfast. The meat that we ordered was extremely dry even with sauce, my boyfriend struggled to eat it and I refused to. The tostones tasted fine we had to add salt. The fried cheese tasted great and mangu needed salt as well. I ordered double fried cheese since I don't eat eggs. Unfortunately the food was cold. This is strike three. Previously I enjoyed their food and the price was right. Last time I ordered from Doordash, and I received mystery meat which was dry and cut up, the item was suppose to be pork chop, a hard pass on this, went into trash. I ordered Dominican cake and they sent carrot instead, again this is a problem. Now tonight, using Uber Eats, I order a large boneless chicken chunks for $16.99. I look in the bag and I don't see the beans and white rice that I get when I order the small boneless chicken chunks. After a phone call, I'm told that, get this, with the large order you don't get the beans with white rice, so in essence, I just paid more to get less. Very last time they will be getting my money. Horrible!!! They gave me bean sauce for my mofongo. The pernil has absolutely no flavor, not even salt. The beans taste like there's no salt as well. I also asked for yellow rice, they gave white. Average Dominican food. I wanted to give this place one more star because their mofongo was sooo good. However, the rest of the food was just average. We came here on a Tuesday at around 4 and we ordered a mofongo made of chicharrón, skirt steak with rice and beans, and sautéed steak with rice beans. The food was just average, don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad at all but it definitely didn't give me a wow effect. The prices here are also average. The skirt steak dish is about $19 and the reg steak was $15, the mofongo was around $10 but it was larger than average. I would def recommend this place if you're looking for a good mofongo. I would try their dessert and homemade juices next time I'm around. Overall the place is def outdated and could use some remodeling. It has more of like a diner feel, the owner did say he was in the process of doing some remodeling, hopefully we will get to see this next time we visit. read more

This food had absolutely no flavor. I understand that many restaurants want to decrease their use of salt...but would you please add a bit of sazon or sofrito?! Great Dominican Restaurant with a big menu and good prices. Just make sure when you do decide what you want that you have a back up order just incase the don't have what you originally want. First I ordered the Stew Feet which they didn't have so then I ordered the Stew Oxtail which they didn't have. Then I ordered the Arroz con Pollo with a side of plantain. Both were delicious and portions were enough for 2 people. Being i've been to several Latin spots in Freeport El Sabor would have to be my favorite. Friends brought me here. Funny, I've lived in this area when I was younger for many years and have not tried this spot. The food was pretty good. It was kind of like going to a Spanish friend's house and their mother cooked for you. It just felt kind of homeish but in a diner setting. IDK how to describe it... I went to el sabor this morning around 11am for lunch. The young lady that had her hair up in a bun was not very welcoming or helpful. I had asked her what they had on the menu for lunch and she gave me a lot of attitude. I would have understood had I been aggressive with her or mean, but I just asked normally. I had to ask her several times because she wasn't as responsive. I then decided that I would stay to eat there instead of taking the food out. She seemed really upset at this. I asked her for a glass of water and she just brought me a bottle. At that point, I didn't even bother correcting her because I was nervous that she would have an angry outburst and I did not want the bad energy. The food lacked flavor, the pollo al orno was very very dry. I honestly wouldn't have even giving a rating at all if it wasn't because her behavior was uncalled for. I have worked in the restaurant business for a long time, and people like that should not be waiters. Your problems should stay at the door when you come in to work. The customers should not have to deal with your own personal issues. The decor is really nice at the very least. I can care less about the money, its the fact that you arguing with me over $14 lol. Like really man, as a business owner you prefer $14 over a costumer that may possibly come on the regular. I have been patronizing this establishment since my daughter was a baby and she is now 29 years old. They did have a new management take over and the prices are higher but the quality of food is still the same. Most of the regular staff are gone sadly because they knew me by name and spoke English. The younger staff may speak English but do not have proper etiquette in serving which is understood with new management.I've never seen nor smelled any roaches or mice that everyone seems to be claiming is crawling around during broad daylight in the centers near food trays. It is always very clean and there's never a wait. I think the new management changed the tipping for the workers so no one really seems to want to earn a fair tip anymore. I come for the food and familiarity in the neighborhood and can overlook rude staff members. Hope management reads this and trains their staff better. read more

This is sort of like a Dominican diner. It has a huge menu of Dominican as well as not Dominican entrees. We started with the tostones; they were good but not as crispy as I hoped. When I called them they said they had to wait for the delivery person to get back to find out how long it would take to bring the rest of the food. The rice & milkshake was delicious but the chicken was drier than cardboard. I asked for salsa & they don't have any!!! All they have is Tabasco Sauce. I had a very tasty cappuccino after dinner. The restaurant Manager locked eyes with me a half a dozen times & never said hello or acknowledged me!!! RUDE! Or if he's just shy then he's in the wrong business!!! Either way it's dead wrong! The waitresses, thank God made up for the Manager by being very very nice!!! You need to know up front that many waitresses here do not speak 1 word of English so ordering could be a bit challenging.
