I placed a DoorDash pickup order for dinner at home and showed up on time. I went straight to the cashier and let them know I was there for a pickup. There was barely any acknowledgment. I stood there waiting while two bags sat on the counter. I assumed neither was mine since someone else came in and picked one up. About ten minutes later, after continuing to be ignored, I showed my app to someone else and they finally checked the bags and handed me my order. The lack of customer service was hard to ignore. For a good ten minutes, no one seemed to care that I was standing there waiting for a takeout order. One person was focused on their phone while the others were chatting and standing around. The food itself was good. The pernil was tasty and the portions were generous. However, I specifically requested black beans and instead ended up with a plate of rice, which was disappointing and showed a lack of attention to the order. They had a great lunch special where you pick a meat and rice (yellow or white) and it comes with 2 sides for $10.95. For my appetizer, I ordered a beef empanada and chicken empanada to try. They were both really good. We didn't know what cassava was so the waitress brought us some to try. It was amazing. I plan on going back for more. My meal was tasty except I didn't like the sweet plantains. They were on the hard side and not sweet. I had no room for dessert so we just got the check. Went in early around 10:30am and most of the food wasn't out yet. She never asked us if we were staying or going and wanted to be seated but we sat ourselves after we got out takeout food. I asked if they have yellow rice yet, she said no. So I placed my order and she told me if I wanted a second meat they would charge me. I was fine with that, but then she sliced 6 pieces of Chicharrón and placed in on top on my stew beef entree with plantains and bland over cooked white rice. I paid an additional $7 for undercooked pork. It was crispy on the outside but uncooked. My friend ordered the stew chicken which had so many bones as well had the skin on which is lazy cooking. The was barley any potatoes or carrots or celery just sauce thrown on top. As we sat and ate, everyone else that came in she greeted as the had a seat and a menu brought over to them. As I ate my food, 5 minutes in she brings out the yellow rice. I just shook my head, maybe her response could have been it you wait 5 minutes it will be out. I won't be cooking back. Bland undercooked food, place is dark and outdated, but most importantly the staff was very unfriendly and ignores you. Maybe they should open at 11am to give themselves time to have everything setup and cooked correctly instead of rushing. 1 star because the plantains were good. Ordered shrimp mofongo take out. The shrimp was tender and juicy, the mofongo was good, the scampi sauce was bitter. Probably from too much garlic/burnt garlic. I was very disappointed. Upon walking In you aren't greeted to and after 10 minutes waiting someone mentioned an order placed. I was ok waiting because I wanted to see how attentive they were to customers. It was a fail.
