I completely agree with what JR said in his review about Abigail and Marvin being "very honest and great people". I'm from out of town and my vehicle broke down in Mojave on a Saturday evening. Abigail was very responsive to my messages for help on Sunday and then again as soon as Freeway opened Monday morning. (It was 95 F heat and I had a dog to care for so we decided to stay in a motel.) She was very proactive about finding the part I needed and setting an appointment for the work. While stranded at a Mojave gas station and motel I asked people about local auto mechanics. Several people recommended Freeway and said that's where local people take their work. I have a lot of trust in them. The world needs more people like Abigail and Marvin. read more

My car broke down on the way home from Las Vegas. I ended up getting my car towed to the small town of Mojave. The mechanic did a test on my car and was able to figure out the issue within seconds. On our way to Death Valley in our RV we started to hear a strange bearing type noise coming from under the hood. Marvin and company quickly diagnosed the problem as a bad air conditioning compressor. They secured the part from Lancaster (26 miles away) and had us on our way in three and a half hours. Very courteous and friendly staff. Highly recommended! BTW, we had first stopped at Desert Truck. My family and I were on our way to the Rivernook Campground for Labor Day weekend. We stopped at AM/PM and noticed our truck was shaking and the check engine light was blinking. I yelped an auto repair shop and this one was less than 1/4 mile away, with good reviews. We drove over and they helped us out right away. I didn't catch the man's name, but he diagnosed the problem immediately and was so friendly and knowledgeable. Unfortunately they didn't have the part on site. We figured we were going to have to get a hotel and wait until the next day but he actually had someone drive a total of 80 miles to bring us the part we needed and had us out of there in an hour and a half!! Alternator failed as we were driving through Mojave on the way back from Mammoth to Pasadena. It was late on a Friday, but they got the parts within an hour, finished the work even though they had to stay after closing, charged a very reasonable price. You can stay at Denny's nearby while you wait -- with little kids this is key. Very helpful and kind! read more

Great place to get your Smog done and its conveniently located down the Street from the DMV in Lincoln Heights. Stopped by after a trip to the DMV, got my smog done really quickly even though I was the second person as he had someone to Test before me. Good price and I was out in less than 45min including the wait for the vehicle ahead of me, 7-11 right around the corner and park across the street helped kill time fast. Before I knew it I was back up the block at the DMV getting my tags! Yeaaahhh! Great smog shop and fast service. My girlfriends and I were passing throughout and after doing some hiking at Mt Whitney. My friend's check engine light came on and black exhaust was coming out of her tailpipe so we figured we ought to get her truck checked out before continuing our drive home. This shop had excellent reviews on Yelp so we felt confident that they wouldn't take advantage of five women travelers. It turns out that my friend legitimately had to have significant work done to make her truck drivable. They ordered the parts, did the work and had is back on the road within four hours. It seems to be a family run business and the wife was helping the husband beneath the hood of the truck. Their son came to get us at the hotel across the street when the truck was ready. I would highly recommend this shop for any work you need done wether you are local or needing an emergency repair. They are trustworthy and honest. read more

Lost the steering at Kramer Junction in our Suburban, which was towing our trailer. AAA wanted to send us to Barstow, but since that was in the wrong direction the tow driver suggested this place. They were also excellent, but I don't remember their name. They towed the trailer to a RV Park down the street and then dropped the car off at Freeway. They immediately diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, gave me a quote, and told me the car would be ready the next day. The part arrived later than anticipated, but the car was ready anyway and we were able to make our destination. The price was fair, the people were very friendly, and the service was superb. While driving on my way to a camping trip up north my power steering pump went out. I picked one up nearby at the part store and Abigail here was super helpful to get my truck in immediately and John Mechanic did a wonderful job swapping out the power steering pump and getting my truck on the road in less than 2 1/2 hours. I never give 5 star reviews but in this case, I am making an exception. Just as it was meant to be, our Eurovan camper broke down almost in front of this business, Marvin the mechanic took on the diagnoses immediately and found out the water pump needed to be replaced. His wife Abigail ordered the water pump right away for the next morning delivery. The water pump arrived in the morning promptly and we were on the road by 1pm. Above everything, they were kind and caring people who wanted to help and get us back on the road. They made a possible nightmare (1 camper van, trailer with motorcycle and two little dogs in 100 degree temperature) in the middle of desert to a memory of kind people. What happens when it's 97 degrees and your car breaks down in Mojave, CA? It's not like there are many choices and the first concern is that you're about to get gouged. Not the case here. I can not recommend this business and the family that runs it enough. My Trooper broke down on my way home from boarding in Mammoth. I limped it to Freeway Smog. The owner was extremely helpful helping me diagnose it. Then the wife and kids came and i hung with them and their pit while we tried everything to get my truck running. Alas, i had done too much damage so he stayed 3 hours after close to let my ride from LA show up (wife even made me hot chocolate!) and let me keep the truck there a few days till i can return to tow it. I highly recommend this automotive business. I was having battery trouble with my motorcycle, while out on a ride. Pretty much stranded, I pulled into this business. Explained what the problem was, and I asked if they could help me. They didn't bat an eye, helped me remove the seat to access the battery. I went to this place because they were registered with the DMV to do CAP ( Consumer assistance Program) repairs. They told me they would have my car for the day, so I took an Uber home and then they called me up later on and told me they couldn't do the repair because there was too much paper work involved and they didn't want to mess with it, so I had to take an Uber back there, to get my car. So that was $21.00 in Uber fees I accrued, and when I asked him about reimbursing me for them he said "oh you just need to get over that" It was just a total burn. You try to give these people your business and there's just no accountability. Obviously he knew it was his fault I wasted my money and he couldn't even man up to it. read more
