Our photographer Chris Gray (PBP shooter,) and Frederick Films utilized this beautiful venue for our family photo session. The venue is very beautiful, and clean. I really appreciate the natural and variety of lighting hues the venue offers. The windows have rustic wooden framing and slightly stained glass windows allowing for a perfect backdrop. As you enter the building it is filled with information about local performing artists which was nice to see it's a place that supports local artists share their craft. If you're seeking a venue for a small-mid size crowd (when it's safe to do so,) Fremont Abbey could be a great location.

Looooove seeing concerts here as well as The Moth and comedy. Most shows have seating and start early too which is amazing now days compared to the rowdy clubs and constant "phone in face" syndrome of larger concerts. Great acoustics, really good variety of diverse music acts (not just folk!) and usually there's a bar with a bunch of good options. The bar sales even go to support local charities, but the Abbey itself is a nonprofit! amazing Fremont Abbey is also known for hosting big name artists and touring acts playing small shows like Damien Jurado, Joseph, Grace Love, Birds of Chicago, Doug from Built to Spill, Bob Odenkirk comedy, etc. definitely check out The Round on 2nd Tuesdays or The Moth storytelling event on 1st Thursdays... those are neighbor favorites.

We had our Wedding here in December, and of all the venues we visited, the Abbey was truly the best. From the start, it was great to know the venue was not profit driven. There were hardly any add ons, and the rates and terms were very reasonable. The space has just enough character to be interesting, but blank-slate enough to add your own style. The staff was easy to work with, and I'd certainly recommend it!

The museum itself is very modern--clean lines, open spaces, and thoughtfully designed throughout. There's a good mix of Nordic artwork and exhibits, and even just walking around the space feels intentional and well curated. The highlight for us was the performance. The candlelight setup created a really warm, immersive atmosphere, and hearing familiar Beatles music in that setting gave it a completely different feel. It's one of those experiences that's hard to fully capture in photos, but definitely stands out in person. Between the architecture, the exhibits, and the events they host, it's more than just a typical museum visit. Would absolutely recommend checking it out, especially if you can catch a performance like this.

The staff was very courteous and helpful. When you enter the dome is really cool, you can lay down or sit on chairs. We laid down but by the thirty minute mark your body starts to ache a little. Also the show was not directly overhead rather slightly forward facing (most of the time) so you should think about bringing a pillow! Right when the show started the lasers were pretty sub par, but by the middle they added more lasers from different directions and smoke which really elevated the visuals to the next step. The music started off wayyy too loud, my ears adjusted over time but afterwards it was hard to hear ppl next to me. There's really no need for it to be that loud when we're so close to the speakers and we're not competing with audience cheers. Was a fun hour spent! But I think there is much more room for improvement.

My daughter is interested in the Japanese culture. The classes they offer range from young child to youth to adult and each age level has its own skill levels so that a teenager just learning Japanese is not put in class with a 5 year old starting Japanese Language Class. Not only does the JCCCW offer Japanese Language Class, they have a lending library and a museum of Japanese culture. In addition, they host many activities related to Japanese culture and participate in the Cherry Blossom and Japanese Cultural Festival held in the spring at the Seattle Center. Unfortunately, the people who run the JCCCW seem to live in their own world and do not always use technology to a beneficial result. They also consider, well whatever it is they consider, and fail to consider their students or their students' families in their decisions, when they choose to announce things, and how they choose to communicate. This is a drawback. Frankly, they seem very technological inept and are not helpful or reasonable under the anonymity of using the internet, even when they sign their name. However, when working with them in person or on the phone, they tend to be very nice and helpful. Worth a visit to learn more about Japanese history, and worth the classes if you wish to learn the Japanese language.

We're not talking about massive corporate bucks or sponsors here. While much of Seattle seems to be sponsored, The Unity Museum is an individual initiative that opened up in 2012 and continues to grow even through the challenges of surviving through the pandemic. The Unity Museum offers physical and virtual tours. They are primarily interested in folks who are fully vaccinated as Seattle slowly opens up, though they will admit non-vaccinated folks with masks. Dr. Amy Colbert is the curator of the museum and Zabine Van Ness is its Executive Director. It is a non-profit guided by a well educated, informed board of directors. The museum is a subsidiary of United Hearts Networking Institute. I was fascinated by this place - I love small indie museums, though this museum is not wheelchair friendly - 1) It's upstairs in an older building and 2) The layout packs in quite a bit and there are definitely spots where even the best wheelchair user would struggle. Ultimately, for those in wheelchairs I recommend a virtual tour or arranging for an exhibit. The Unity Museum uplifts humanity by celebrating the history of human progress toward unity, social justice, and global peace. They offer rotating exhibits, presentations, and public discourse on local and global topics relevant to its themes. They also do offer outreach exhibits and presentations for the community. They have limited in-person hours, however, if you're in Seattle it's worth going out of the way to check out and support. The Unity Museum is on the bus route within the University District and it's super close to a couple hotels (including the one I stayed at, Graduate). It's also adjacent to University of Washington.
