I was with Fremont bank for eight years nothing but trouble I took a check in for $27,000 from State Farm insurance. They wanted to put a seven day hold on it. I took the check back and they called security Jim Gilmore had a security and closed my account. He told me I had 10 days. It's froze my account and left me with no money. I went into the bank to get my money after it was transferred into my account. Had words with Debra, the bank manager. She came from behind the counter, gave me a blackeye and broke my finger. I called the police. I had a Fremont credit card in the past two days. I've had nothing but problems. I have paid it on time every single month with no problems with no warning they closed it as of March 31 and when we opened it again on April 6, I called Fremont bank to find out what happened I received a call from Jim Gilmore again today from his car, yelling and screaming at me and being totally disrespectful he said he called the Brentwood Police Department, which he did not but I called the Oakley PD, and I wrote a letter to the chairman of the board and canceled my card They're great as long as you don't cause them any problems or complain. If you do, they will make your life a living hell. read more

Had this bank to use as a joint rent payment account and they charge for everything. There's like an $18 service fee monthly if you don't have direct deposit, a fee to transfer funds to an external institution, a $30 just to cancel a check.. I've primarily banked with NFCU for 11 years and have never been charged for any of these things. Additionally, toward the end of our lease, our landlords mailbox was full and he didn't get our check in time so we wrote him a new one to avoid any issues, as he's always been difficult in the past. I didn't want to pay $30 to cancel the check so my husband moved all of our money out of this acct in the meantime and Fremont bank closed our acct... someone from Fremont Bank left me a few voicemails afterwards but according to my app, my acct was closed and I didn't want to re-open so I never called back. Do not recommend even just based on all the random fees. read more

Great Branch! The best thing about Fremont Bank (especially the Brentwood Branch) is that there is never a wait. Long lines are never an issue. You can get your deposits, withdrawals, and bill pays done fast. Another thing that stands out to me is that the level of customer service being offered at this location. Not only are they super professional and efficient, but the people here are personable. They take their time in helping you with what you need, instead of rushing to get you out of their window (like wells or bank of america).. The bankers here are always so sweet. Even if you're only coming in for a quick deposit, they never fail to offer me some kind of coffee or water. All in all, I love this place. This update is long and overdue . This branch has really stepped up their customer service since my last review, believe me I wanted to give up and switch to a different bank before. I was being honest about how slow they were in my last review years ago. However a lot has changed, there are actually great people who works there now. Every timeI go there , there are at least 3 tellers open and I am greeted with a warm welcome. The lady in front to the right of the door (sorry I forgot her name) is just great! So frustrating! My parents love Fremont bank so I refi'd 5 years ago understanding that there's no additional cost to refi again. Well there's no cost physically- but the emotional and stress cost is high. I refi'd in 2012 and then just now, 2014. Each time I get put through the ringer. TONs of paperwork, notary, appraisal work. And each time there are random additional requests- Employment Verification numbers, etc. It's hours of my time. I wouldn't mind if it was all at once, but the requests come in little pieces weeks apart for a couple months. So the loan takes 2-3 months to close. The service level is not good- I feel like they don't value their customers and they don't have a good understanding of what is needed upfront. I got several run-arounds, and ended up overpaying $2400, then underpaying $63.51, then overpaying $709.94. Cost wise- it's probably okay to go with Fremont Bank. Just be prepared for the headaches. I keep telling myself I'll switch banks... if I'm going to refi again, I think I will. UPDATE - the bank reached out to me to improve their services. Terrible customer service and I really didn't like how I was treated in this branch. John Lewis and Deborah Willis made me feel like a liar when I told them that I called Fremont Bank over the phone and I was told I can deposit a check with my name on it and someone else's name into my account just as long the check doesn't say "AND" in it. They didn't believe me and insisted that I need to add the other person's name into my account. Deborah and John Lewis didn't even call anyone from their internal team to verify. I can understand their view regarding the situation, but at the very least they should have called their internal customer service and asked, rather than arguing with me and being rude about it. I even heard Deborah say "I don't even know who you talked to, but I don't think so." So I made a complaint over the phone and Patty was really nice to go over the complaint with me and investigated the situation. She called me back and she confirmed that my story was true; someone did tell me the correct information. My advice to Lewis and Deborah is that they should not automatically assume that their client is not telling the truth, but do their diligent to listen and investigate. I been with this bank for almost 10 years and this is the only branch that I felt disrespected. read more

Disappointed that this place is closed 5 pm on a Friday when the rest of Fremont Bank in the Bay Area is closed 6 pm. Most folks work outside of Brentwood and getting to the bank on a Friday at 5 pm is almost impossible. Consider keeping your branch open till 6 pm on Fridays!!! read more

We closed escrow on our ranch property in April of this year. Cathalene Hefner was recommended to our agent as a specialist with these types of properties. I had originally came into our purchase with my own out of area lender, however once I spoke with Cathalene I felt very comfortable and she provide much needed advice. Once we were in escrow, I reached out to her again to move forward with her as our lender since she was educated in the area we were purchasing in. She gathered all my information and got her team working on our file. Boy did they do an amazing job! From start to finish, Cathalene and her team were proactive, informative and professional. Cathalene's processor, Gregory, worked with us hand in hand to gather conditions and would provide full updates as conditions were accepted. First, I normally do not bother to post reviews, but I felt compelled do so due to the exemplary service I experienced! In doing a Refi with Fremont Bank, I needed to open a checking account to get a better rate. So I went to the Brentwood branch to set up a checking account, Scott was extremely courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. He walked me through the process efficiently and explained all my options clearly. They even had a promo for $100 cash back for processing one bill pay ($50 min) through the new account as well as a $250 cash back for having my new mortgage automatically paid vis this new account. I did set up for both, but even w/o the $350 account credits coming, I was pleasantly surprised at the friendly efficient service Scott at the Brentwood branch showed me (and my wife when we returned a week later to add her to the account). I have been a long-time Fremont Bank customer and just finished my 3rd no-cost refinance. The mortgage rate dropped by another half percent for a 15-year loan, and is now at 2.875%, a savings of $60 per month. I don't know of anyone offering a lower interest rate than that. I was surprised to see that several reviewers were very dissatisfied with their experience. I guess it depends on where you bank, and many other factors, but my experience was quite positive and I received periodic updates from them. One does have to put up some money to initiate the loan process ($695 for my application and rate lock fees), but once the refi went through, it was redeposited right back to my checking account. Some issues that could slow down the process are unexplained deposits to your bank account, less than solid credit history, and probably other things. Be prepared to explain large deposits to your account, other than your paycheck. In my case, I had some babysitting income. However, that was shown on my income taxes as self-employment, so it was not an issue. Also, my husband gives me household income every week, so I had to show proof that it was being debited from his bank account. It is true that I had to resubmit a couple of items, but this is probably due to the fact that you are dealing with 3 or 4 different people throughout the loan process. Remember to hold on to all your originals in case you have to resubmit something. These are things you have to deal with, but if you have nothing to hide, it shouldn't be a problem! ; ) I have recommended Fremont Bank to my friends and I hope their experience will be similar to mine, and not those who had a bad experience. read more

Fremont bank, this branch in particular has to be the best bank I've been with ( and I've been with a lot) the people are friendly, the know me by name, and they take care of me. I even don't mind driving out of the way to go there. The banker that always helps me, I believe her name is Jamiy, has to be the brightest crayon in the box. Always quick, professional, and personable. I'll be banking here for a long while, the branch kinda reminds me of the show "Cheers" (where everybody knows your name).
