The branch manager Marilyn Reyes is unfriendly and rude. A couple of personal bankers there are inefficient and unhelpful. Though some of the tellers are very friendly. Thankfully, the branch manager's attitude has not percolated down to the tellers. I live a few minutes away from this bank. I thought this could be a small, local, friendly bank where I could deposit enough money and bank comfortably. But on the contrary, I have pulled my money out and avoid it like plague. I gave the check to my colleague. This year I take over this organization again and I clean out the old files and found the old check that has not cashed. I have been banking with Fremont Bank for over 20 years. My grandmother banked with them for 40 plus years and my parents started banking with them in 1986. A couple of years ago my mother pulled her accounts from them and advised me to do the same. I didn't listen. I have 2 accounts with them and 4 members of my household (that I referred) bank with them as well. We are all going to be leaving this bank. They are VERY rude. They say they are going to call you back and don't and they charge unnecessary fees. In all the years I have been banking with them these past few months have been so horrible because the customer service at this branch is so terrible. We've banked with Fremont Bank for approx. 15 years and have multiple accounts of several types. Something has changed in the last several months; they seem to have hired absent-minded morons and not even tried to train them. I can no longer trust them to perform minor tasks that were formerly automated and trouble-free. Example: They've double-paid several monthly bills that were on automatic pay. Fortunately, that didn't cause any overdrafts but for many people it would have. Now I see that they're charging us service charges that are normally only charged on small accounts. E-mailing them about this proves that they didn't even look at the balances on our accounts before they started charging those service charges. I'll be investigating the credit unions near us now because Fremont Bank is no longer trustworthy on even the most menial tasks. read more

DO NOT use Fremont Bank for a mortgage refi. Fremont Bank does not know how to process a mortgage loan. I am an existing customer, and started the application process online to refi for a lower rate. They took my uncompleted application, ran a credit report , then sent me disclosure documents of a rate higher than the published rate, without a phone call from anyone. I ignored the disclosure, then two weeks later the rate went down, and I got a courtesy call. I went ahead and started the 90 day rate lock and application process since they had already created an inquiry on my credit. They ordered an appraisal on day 60 of the 90 day rate lock, after giving me final payment and closing cost disclosures. I have just been informed all approval documents have expired while waiting for the appraisal, and I have to submit new documentation for reapproval. read more

Meaning you have to look into a camera that records your picture, then they buzz you in. Fremont banks seem to take care of their customers for sure. Everyone is really nice when you walk in. They offer you water, coffee, mints, and floss cards. I switched to Fremont Bank about a couple of years ago. I haven't really had any problems since. I just closed on my loan last week and was thrilled with the service and rates I received from Fremont Bank! I NEEDED my loan to close within 30 days, otherwise, I would have been subjected to a fine by my builder for each day I was late. They completed everything right on time, and probably could have done it sooner if my builder didn't make them hold off for a few days. Much thanks to Jason for making this happen. I was vacillating between going with Fremont Bank or another lender for weeks and what won me over was Jason(my loan officer)'s response rate. Opened a heloc with this branch a couple of years ago with no problems. Decided to refi and closing the heloc was required. I was told I would not be charged an early closing fee if I reopened the heloc after the refi closed. I went to reopen the day after the refi closed and they still charged me the early closing fee $500. Gave me some runaround and some people to call but nothing ever happened. The first thing that attracted me to Fremont Bank was their radio ads. They never have legal disclaimers at the end delivered so fast that you can't possibly understand what they're saying. I'm always distrustful of companies that do that. Over the years, I have noticed that even though they are a local bank, their mortgage interest rates are competitive with the big boys. When I called to inquire about a loan, I was connected to Jason Gallagher. I couldn't be happier with the way he handled our loan process. In fact, after doing the initial loan on our first investment property, I went ahead and refinanced our primary mortgage at Jason's suggestion, which has positioned us very comfortably financially. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is because there were a few minor bumps from the loan processing department involving requests for info, etc., but whenever an unnecessary request came up, I contacted Jason and he handled it for me in a matter of minutes. Jason definitely deserves a 5-star rating! My initial reason for pursuing a loan through Fremont Bank was that I wasn't suspicious of what they were trying to hide because of a lightning-speed legal disclaimer, and I was not disappointed. Delete any solicitation email and ignore any solicitation phone call regarding a refinance you get from Fremont Bank. Believe me, you don't want to do a loan with them. This is coming from their current customer. Why? Let me tell you. I got a call from one of their reps back in January in which he told me that he would like to offer me a lower rate than what I currently had. I said okay. He asked some financial information from me, which I provided. Then I get a call from another rep a few days later and he asked me to give him the amount of $490 to lock in the rate as everything looked good based on my credit history and information I had provided, which I provided. Thereafter started a barrage of emails and disclosure documents needing signatures and asking for all sorts of documents such as bank statements, pay stubs, leases, tax documents etc. This went on for another month or so. So, close to end of February, I am getting a bit impatient and started inquiring about what was going on. Eventually, I get an email telling me that my loan had been denied and at first I am not given any particular reason, but, when I pressed a little bit harder, I am told that my debt to income ratio was not meeting the guidelines. I am surprised to hear that. When I asked how come this was not determined when I provided all the information initially to the rep before locking in the rate, I was not given a clear cut response. When I asked for the refund of the money I had already provided, I was declined and reason being that the underwriting had denied the loan and hence the deposit could not be refunded, which sounded like a complete hogwash to me. It is very clear to me that Fremont bank is running a scam which involves soliciting loan customers, getting them to deposit money to lock in the rate and then when the underwriting denies the loan based on their stringent guidelines, the bank still pockets the money. The bank does not even care about its current customers like me. I have stellar credit history and should be easily able to get the loan except all these banks are following very stringent guidelines that make no sense, like a debt to income ratio of 45-50%. That's a total nonsense. With that kind of ratio, why would I need a loan? Also, how come their reps don't check the customer's ratio against all the guidelines before getting them to commit? So, people, if you want to avoid all the hassle I have had and want to safeguard your money, please don't do business with this bank. I don't know if and when I would get my money back, but I hope that enough people read my comments go to other better banks and hopefully I can recoup my cost by denying this bank business worth perhaps lot more than what they got from me and then maybe this bank will learn how to deal fairly with customers or maybe not. read more

If I could give a negative star I would. We have had our home loan through this bank for years and although the rates have been ok the customer service department and processing of a loan is awful. I do not recommend this bank to friends or family ever I tell them to try any other bank but this one. I have been disappointed by the excuses, lack of organization and the fact that they cannot get your payment statement out to you on time. Payment is due on the 1st of the month and they show up on the 3rd or 4th, they tell you it could be the mail, then they tell you that the statements go out on the 20th but last month they went out late at their end. That has happened continually, so evidently they don't go out on the 20th!! It's continual excuses!!! Who runs this bank, if you can't get a straight answer from customer service after 5 phone calls then they need to retrain their people. What a disappoint this bank has been. Cannot recommend them look elsewhere save yourself the years of excuses. read more
