I had originally applied for a pre-approval with Stanford Federal Credit Union because they have a relationship with my employer. Even though the rates between the two were identical, we ended up going with Tuan and Providential Mortgage, and here's why: 1. Our realtor mentioned that Providential Mortgage is well known in the area and can make a difference in a competitive market. 2. From the first point of contact, Tuan proved why he has the good reputation he does. He was quick to respond, straightforward, and trustworthy. 3. We were constantly updated throughout our loan process. I never once had to follow-up. 4. He obtained a fully underwritten pre-approval for us and when he found out that we had submitted an offer, he personally called the listing agent to explain how qualified we were as buyers (the truth). 5. He was on top of it throughout the process. 6. There was no excessive back and forth with the documents that were requested during our loan process. Just to give you an idea of how quickly this process went, our offer was accepted on July 14th and we closed escrow on August 1st. We received or keys on August 2nd. Decided to check the rates at Providential Mortgage, which my relative uses. Fast response, quickly clarified my issues, very very good rates, and signing moved quick. Emailed them October 1. Everything was finalized by October 20. Highly recommended! I was having trouble refinancing with Rocket Mortgage (my mortgage broker) because I'm recently self-employed and do not have 2 years history of business income. Rocket said I can find a cosigner, which I eventually did but then someone else would tell me one thing different from another Rocket employee. The main person at Rocket supposedly helping me was slow at responding and at some point eventually stopped replying. Most annoying part is they don't seem to take notes about my case.
