When I began treatment, my neck was such a mess I had about 40% range of motion, my shoulders and hips were misaligned, and on bad nights I'd literally have to pick my head up off my pillow using my hands if I was laying on my back. Within a couple weeks of starting treatment, my situation was a night and day improvement, and continues to get better every visit! Let's talk about curves baby, because sometimes we neglect the most important curve in our bodies - the spine. Important because good spinal health prevents back and shoulder pain, which up to 80% of adults experience* along with a ton of other health issues (according to NY Times) I love Dr Marnie because of her wholistic vision. Her practice is about so much more than 'popping backs'. She takes X-rays of all her new patients so you can track progress. She has a rehabilitation center with cervical traction, power plate technology, medicine balls, etc.. and physical therapists who'll walk you through it every time you visit. She offers therapeutic massage and even has a weight loss program if you're looking to drop a few before summer. AND she takes insurance. I originally signed up to do a 24-visit chiro course in parallel with training for a 2-day long bike challenge. I was hoping to have one practice for all of my needs, near home. This practice is on the way home for me, has PT and massage as well as chiro. These visits were a combo of PT exercises and adjustments and they were a good way to learn about this type of body work and be monitored by a specialist while I exercised heavily in preparation for my event. Dr. Marnie insisted upon 36 visits, which I ended up doing, paying for my max of 24 using insurance and remaining 12 out of pocket ($1000+). I wanted to follow the doctor's advice and worked hard there and at home to get best results. X-rays before and after the 36 visits clearly showed improvement to my main concern area - cervical spine and the lack of curve there. I was excited about this course of treatment and originally planned to come back to the office after my insurance rolled around to continue monthly chiro maintenance. I had also gotten a few massages at the same practice, but their therapist wasn't very good and didn't stay long. There was a period with no therapist or the their availability didn't fit my schedule (regular 9-5er). Unfortunately, their massage options didn't improve in the ~6 months I was actively going there despite continuous promises that it would. I even continued checking by email after formally completing my program. After visiting specialists at other practices and learning more about body work on my own time I realized that Fremont S&W PT wasn't very good or thorough. None of my acute pain concerns were addressed through PT at all but I believe I was still charged for the PT components. In conclusion, chiropractic alone wasn't something I was looking for as it it not the sustainable method of body care. So I ended up leaving, and using a combination other massage/PT/chiro that was conveniently located and fit my schedule. It feels like Fremont S&W wants me to come back as I've received several reminders out of the blue, over a year after leaving (random bill also that I don't owe, texts and emails). I didn't really like that method of recruitment so I'm even less likely to come back now. If this is the only place near you and you've never tried chiro/PT - try it! Especially if your insurance covers it. I'm in no way knocking sports/rehab methodologies. I just didn't get what I was looking for at this particular practice. read more

I never actually had a massage or appointment here but I tried to make an appointment with no response whatsoever. I had a Groupon for a massage and assessment here and tried to schedule an appointment with them for two months. Two months of calling with no answer and no return of my message requesting an appointment. It was eerie, almost like they had gone out of business but I knew they hadn't. Maybe it's a good place once you are in and have an appointment but I never found out. I also won't go back based on the fact that they ignored my appointment requests for so long with no explanation. I eventually got a refund from Groupon and told them that the business was not responsive. read more

I was really hesitant to see a chiropractor. I've been experiencing tension and pain in my neck and upper back for YEARS now but never did much about it besides a few massage sessions. The relief were always temporary. With the push of a friend, I went to meet Dr. Marnie and the rest of the staff. The very first appointment was really educational. Dr. Marnie spent a lot of time explaining what it is that she does in addition to giving me a mini anatomy & physiology lesson. We went over my concerns and before I left, we took some X-rays. Second session: We reviewed my X-rays and I was blown away to see what was going on with my spine. There were a few points of deviation... and they were located exactly where I've been hurting for years. I met Anna next and she taught me how to use the equipments that they have in clinic to help loosen up the muscles before being adjusted. The first one is designed to help loosen up the neck muscles. I honestly didn't feel much of anything (but it's probably because we were starting out easy). Then we hopped onto the wobble chair. As silly as it looked -- this chair did help stretch out the muscles around my hip area. Lastly: the Power Plate. 6 minutes of intense vibration (which apparently forces the muscles to contract). After 4 minutes of it, I literally felt my eyeballs start to shake as well. It was...quite an interesting experience. The adjustment: I was REALLY nervous going into this part. I've seen enough kung fu movies and hear enough horror stories to know that something could go wrong (i.e. death, paralysis, etc) . To put me at ease, Dr. Marnie explained to me exactly how much force she is putting on my spine and reassured me that the "cracking sound" is just from the nitrogen bubbles in between the joints going into the synovial fluid. She was also really gentle. Before doing anything, she explained exactly what I needed to do and what she will be doing. It turned out to be a really relaxing experience. The aftermath: The tension was temporary gone but did come back the next day. This was completely expected. In order to fully eliminate or alleviate this pain (which has been present since 2005) -- it would take a lot of commitment (in my case, 3-4 adjustments per week) before I can see any improvement. Dr. Marnie called me the day after just to make sure I was doing well. She really does care a lot for her patients. Why it didn't get the 5 stars: When I was given the schedule for the adjusting hours...I saw that none of the time worked out for me. I work in Kent until 5:30pm. Allison later told me that there is a sister clinic right above them that have later hours (until 8pm I believe). Their online website didn't tell me much about this "sister clinic" so at the moment, it's still a complete mystery to me. Besides that, everything else was great. I went here for a long time and eventually stopped going for 2 reasons. First, I didn't like that I couldn't see a regular doctor. The rooms are open and you are adjusted by whichever doctor is available first. This would have been fine if I had equal experiences with both doctors, but I got much more relief from one's adjustments over the other and was frustrated that I couldn't see the better doctor every time. What pushed me over the edge, however, was the receptionist. I don't know what was going on with her, but I kept getting calls from her telling me that I had missed appointments, even though I had very clearly told her several times that I didn't have time to come in and to cancel all my appointments. This was obviously much too difficult for her to understand and she continued to call me for weeks -- WEEKS -- saying that I missed my appointment. It was the same girl every time. Then my boyfriend needed a chiropractor so I recommended Fremont, thinking that they might have changed their receptionist or doctors and he might have better luck. He didn't. On his first appointment he had a coupon for a free exam, including tests and x-rays. The x-ray machine was broken and they didn't call to tell him, so he had to come back twice to finish up the consultation appointment. Then they tried to charge him for the second appointment, when they were only finishing up what they couldn't do the first time, which was supposed to be free! He also stopped going because the receptionist was annoying (different annoying receptionist) and hasn't been back for months. Well, he just received a bill in the mail for $70 without a word of explanation as to what the charges were for -- or even what DATE they were from -- even though he paid his co-pay every time he visited the office. Oh, and the new receptionist can't pronounce the word massage. read more

My first interaction with Fremont Chiropractic was on the phone. The receptionist wanted to schedule a consultation first, but I told her that I had to get in that day. You see, I couldn't sit or stand or doing anything other than lay down on my left side. Seems that the tension in my back was holding my spine together and after the massage I had the night before, the tension was gone. Couldn't ignore my back problems anymore. She squeezed me in that day and we got started on my treatment. They really work with you and your insurance company so it's really affordable. They promised that I would see drastic improvement after 6 months and I did. Really. I slowed down my visits and when I was in a car accident I ramped them up again. I started my experience with Fremont Spine & Wellness because of the Groupon they offered for an assessment and massage. I had previously seen a chiropractor a few years before for headache/neck-pain, which had since returned. So in early February (2011) I made an appointment and went in. After a very clear and straightforward assessment and conversation, I felt it would be a good investment in my health to come back. The office was flexible in payment options, especially considering I was a student with limited insurance. And the massage was fantastic. I have gone back once since then to treat myself. Going in 3 times a week for about 20 to 30 minutes apiece, I was at first adjusted by both Dr. Mike and Dr. Brett. The open-room format allows them to have a good flow of patients, and I was never waiting more than a few minutes. You are given a routine of pre- and post-adjustment stretches.There is a private back room as well. Gradually I began to notice a decrease in my headaches (initially happening up to 4 or 5 times a week). Eventually I was adjusted primarily by Dr. Brett. Both are very engaging and considerate people. By the middle of May, I was regularly headache free. It has now been almost two months without the specific splitting headaches I was having. I was rescheduled down to twice a week, then once the primary period was through, I've now been scheduled down to twice a month. Overall, it has been a very healthy and positive place for me. The only trouble I've had is with difficulty communicating with the office electronically. Their office email addresses changed, but apparently were not on the website. After asking at the front desk, the email I sent was found, but it would have been nice to receive (even an automated) reply confirming they'd received my email about requesting previous records. read more

I have had bad experiences with chiropractors in the past who don't listen to me or validate what I am experiencing in my body, but not here. Dr. Marnie is caring, compassionate, knowledgeable and kind. She listens to me and changes her protocol based on my feedback. I have sent my own cherished clients here (I am a bodyworker with a very busy practice working with people in pain and am super selective about my referral network). Everyone has come back raving. I am especially happy that Dr. Marnie does regular assessments to see how you've progressed and actually changes or reduces your weekly visits based on her findings. Dr. Mike and Dr. Brett have saved my life! I found them via my insurance one night after waking up and feeling back pain so bad that I thought I was going to die! I went in and was very sceptical, even after my first appointment. I walked away with the feeling I was possibly being scammed outta my money by some sort of fake doctor. I went in for my FREE massage with Suzanne who really worked on my problem areas. After going in a couple of times we realized how much they were helping me, then my insurance changed and they said my rates were gonna go up, we went over all my options and found a way to make it work! They are so helpful and kind and just wanna see me not be in pain! If I could I would see Suzanne once a week on top of my chiro appointments but money is tight, but I HIGHLY reccommend everyone here! They have made me able to walk and function again, I limped in to their office and could barely walk or stand and now after a few weeks and alot of help from them, I am nearly pain free and able to move :) read more

I want to start off my saying I don't usually go to chiropractors. A good friend of mine told me about Fremont Spine & Wellness because he met Marnie at a business group they both attended. My friend and I started a discussion and our conversation went back and forth about how I didn't really understand chiro care and he challenged me with the old, "how do you know it doesn't work if you've never really tried it" response. It occurred to me he had a point so in order to prove myself right, I decided to go in for an appointment. I met with Marnie and she took my x-rays and then we discussed the issues she noticed. As she pointed to the x-rays and explained what each issue meant to me from a pain and physical standpoint, it was as if someone had given her my very own notes about the chronic condition I have. I was totally intrigued so when she explained her care plan with me, I decided I would give it a try; after all, she was pretty spot-on with her assessment. As the treatment began, I was still a bit skeptical but I have to admit that after the first couple of weeks, I was literally standing taller and felt a stride in my step. That was enough for me to keep going a bit longer. In addition to my adjustments, Marnie had suggested I consider a regiment of daily at-home therapy using a denneroll. So after seeing the results of the first couple of weeks, I took Marnie's advice and began using the denneroll, which works to return a curvature to the neck (cervical spine). I used my denneroll faithfully for the duration of my treatment, which included spinal adjustments a few times a week. At this point, I have completed my treatments and am now working on simple maintenance and go in whenever I feel it's necessary. I want to thank Marnie (Dr. Hansen) for taking the curvature of my neck from 20-degrees to 41-degrees! (Those numbers may not sound like much but I promise you, on an X-ray, they show a significant change). In addition, the chronic pain I used to suffer along my mid back is gone. There are still times when my mid back gets aggravated which is why I have chosen to keep up with my maintenance plan. Bottom line: Chiropractic therapy DOES WORK. There are notable results from her handiwork and our leg lunge with same arm overhead stretching at home. Marj is standing much straighter from her lumbar. First off, I have to say that Dr. Marnie Hansen, and Team are wonderful. At first I was a little reluctant to see a chiropractor, because I did not know what to expect. After suffering for the past two years with debilitating migraines and back pain, I decided enough was enough. To ease some of the stress of finding a chiropractor, I did a little research online for specialists in the Seattle area, and decided to give this place a shot. Before scheduling my first appointment, I visited their website. At the time it was outdated, but is now fully updated with information related to their (new/current) doctors and staff. The website also has some helpful information about what types of insurance providers they accept (which seems to be the majority of them). It may be worthwhile to add that FSW underwent an extreme overhaul on their staff over the past year or so... When scheduling my first appointment, I was told I would be seeing Dr. Marnie for a consultation and x-rays. The first visit was purely educational -- which I did not mind. She went into depth about what they look for in a healthy spine, and the different methods they use to rehabilitate a spine in distress. After the consultation and x-ray, I was told to come back in the next week to go over their findings. At my second appointment Dr. Marnie went over my findings. The x-rays (clearly) showed some minor cervical neck displacement and misalignment through my mid-lower back, which explained the frequent migraines. I trusted Dr. Marnie and her medical expertise -- 100%. She is very knowledgeable at what she does. After reviewing my results, she gave me her opinion and several options that worked for me, and my wallet. She was not pushy, or rude, in fact, she was very understanding and sensitive to my decision. Now, almost 7 months later, I have not had one migraine, or any severe back pain. Before you are ready to commit, their staff looks into what type of insurance you have (how many visits you have/calendar year or how much you will pay out of pocket/visit). The staff at FSW are very personable, and sit down with you to make sure you understand the information, or if you have any questions. Be advised that if your insurance allows a certain amount of visits/calendar year, keep track of this yourself! The only downfall to FSW is that they do not keep an accurate record for you. Several years ago I went to a chiropractor and the experience was less than ideal. I was a bit hesitant to try again. After a injury in a cyclocross race I first went to Kinetic Sports Massage a sister clinic to Fremont Spine & Wellness. I had hoped I could have the injury "worked out." The massages helped but I wasn't quite right. After meeting with Dr. Marnie I felt she had a clear path to getting to the root of my issues. We started pretty aggressively (3x per week) and have gradually tapered off to 1x per week. During the treatments I'm been able to confidently get back on the back and more importantly start mountain biking again without discomfort. Overall I feel much more "solid" in my core and because I've been able to get back to being active, I've lost about 10lbs as a side benefit. The whole staff is very friendly and encouraging. I was advised to come 3 times a week for a period of 3 months. Having now completed this period I could not be more impressed. I am stronger, more flexible and that's all thanks to Dr Hansen. I have never been to a chiropractor before even though I have had back issues for 12 years. I've done physical therapy, surgery, drugs, acupuncture, massage, exercise...you name it! Over the past year I did something to my back and even with all the PT etc it never fully felt like I was "whole". The pain would subside but the top and bottom halves of my body felt disconnected and I could tell that I was leaning forward and unable to stand erect. Even without nerve pain I could tell that my muscles were being overused and stressed out. Then about three weeks ago something went horribly wrong and I found myself getting progressively worse to the point where I found myself unable to walk when I got out of bed and I would end up in child's pose on the floor crying waiting for the four advil I took to give me enough relief to stand up. This went on for a few days before I finally broke down and went to Dr. Mike. I recently started a new job and my insurance doesn't kick in until Dec. 1st so that's why I waited so long to be seen! Here's the lowdown on my experience with Dr. Mike... 1. He's incredibly compassionate. Due to pain and lack of sleep I lost my sh*t in his office and started to sob. He was very gracious, positive, and made me feel like what I was going through was valid and treatable. He also hooked me up same day with his doctor so I could get some better pain meds so I could sleep and improve my daily functioning while he worked on me. 2. I see Dr. Mike 3 times a week at present. He always asks me how the days between sessions were, what I noticed, what's changed, how I'm feeling etc. He listens to the answers and gives me sound advice on what I should and shouldn't be doing at home which right now is very little except for icing and heating. 3. After a mere week and a half - two weeks with him I have more relief than I did after a month and a half with a physical therapist. I'm straighter than I've been in a year. The pain is almost completely gone. I already notice more mobility and flexibility in my spine (the x-rays initially showed no curvature and some discs bulging as well as bone spurs). I'm not "healed" yet but I highly recommend Dr. Mike! I was scared to see a chiropractor because I thought it was all popping and cracking. Dr. Mike uses very gentle techniques that do not cause any pain or discomfort and I feel better almost immediately after seeing him while also noticing improvements between visits. Dr. Marnie and her staff are amazing! I just finished a 3 month process to help lower back pain and scoliosis. We did X-rays before we started and after 3 months. Improvement everywhere! I feel better, am way more flexible but the proof was in comparing the X-rays. It was amazing to see that my skeletal structure had improved! Dr. Marnie is super thorough, and explains every step of the process in terms I could understand. I couldn't recommend Dr.Marnie and her office more! I had a number of issues with this clinic. 1. I didn't like the style of treatment at this facility - namely the open chiropractic treatments and the physical therapy machines. 2. In addition to this, the advice I was given at this clinic directly contradicted medical advice I received. I am pregnant and was told by the reception person and the chiropractor that certain physical therapy machines are fine to use. However, after speaking with both my ob and family Dr. I was told that this was incorrect. 3. In addition to both of these things, I was billed for xrays I never received. When I contacted the clinic, I received an e-mail indicating that the charges were reversed/not billed, but when I followed up with my insurer this was not the case. Interestingly, if you scroll through the reviews, I am not the only person who encountered this issue. The staff might be very nice and welcoming, but overall I found this place unprofessional and for the reasons above I will not return. read more

Dr. B is a pain management magician . . . and don't be intimidated by the Fremont address, I have ALWAYS found parking within a block!

I'm a bit nervous. Dr. M is super awesome and informative. She knows her stuff and I'm impressed with her abilities to read an x-ray and adjust. She is friendly and warm to talk with. I've seen 6 chiro's over my life and she has been the best. I think she did a fantastic job with my assessment. The one star is for the following: 1) violation of HEPA - when you sign-in, you see all the patients first and last names. Adjustments and therapy are done in front of everyone so everything is out in the open, conversations included. 2) billing scare - apparently standing on a vibrating platform for 6 minutes is going to cost you $100. You aren't told in advance that there is a difference in what is chiropractic care and what is physical therapy. This is key for insurance billing and what you pay. 3) the melding of multi-system care - as #2 states you are sent here and there and are encouraged for more, but they are all different specialists and bill differently. This is not clear. Are you seeing the chiropractor? The Physical Therapist? The Yoga Instructor? or the Massage Therapist? 4) failure to identify treatment - I was told today how many times to show up in a week and how many months "recovery" would take. I was never told what the treatment was or entails, who I'll be seeing, what they'll be doing. You get some one on one time with Dr M, but then after hand off, that is it. This is also an issue in that there seems to be a system that, regardless of patient's needs, the patient is dropped into and not informed as to what the system is, how it works, and what the patient is getting out of it. 5) follow through - you talk to one person, they tell you what they will do, then nothing when they send you to the next person. They are setup such that you see every specialist there, then charge you for it. After 15 minutes with one, they send you to the next. When you talk to a specialist about your health care, they talk about recovery (without details) and that they will do something, but then once you're passed on to the next, all their words are forgotten. So, no two specialists know what you are there for, what was done and what your treatment should be. 6) again, follow through - today I was told I would need new x-rays, but they were so busy to hand me off to someone else so the 2nd person could bill me, that the first person who was going to take x-rays for my diagnosis didn't take them. 7) I don't seem to matter - this is the 3rd chiropractor I've been to who just didn't give a poop about my personal care as they were too busy to see to other patients. BUT I was certainly billed for the time. :( So, after reading what I've written, I've discovered I'm really unhappy here and am going to call and cancel all my future appointments. read more

I finally decided to see a chiropractor after years of fighting poor posture and chronic back pain that was getting worse due to my desk job. I met Dr. Marnie at Vertical World, where she was giving free mini-assessments and she was instantly able to point out where my problem areas were without me even telling her anything in depth. I went in to Fremont Spine and Wellness a few months later using one of the consult cards she had given out that night, and had x-rays and a whole assessment done. She explained to me the different levels of care that were available to address my back and spine issues, and suggested ways to work with my very limited budget (I do not have insurance). Ultimately it was up to me to decide how frequently I wanted to visit the office and I felt no pressure from the staff to choose a certain routine - I feel that I have only received honest, friendly and sincere care from Dr. Marnie, Anna and the rest of the staff with every visit. I was also given a lot of at-home stretches and exercises to work on in my own time to reinforce the work that was done to correct my spine during adjustments. Initially I was a bit freaked out about the adjustments, but Dr. Marnie was very gentle and made sure I was used to the process before working on deeper corrections over time. I always felt like I was in good hands. Anna also offered me a lot of tips and listened intently to any concerns I had while we did strengthening exercises before/after the adjustment sessions. I recommend this team to anyone even remotely interested in seeing if chiropractic care could be helpful to their injuries or health conditions. Remember, your spine is not just something holding up your back, it houses your nerves which are the lifeline of your body's functions -- getting adjusted can help with so many issues we don't normally think of as connected to this kind of care. The only thing that made this care difficult for me was the cost, but that is due to my lack of insurance - I think that for anyone with an insurance plan, the rates would be very manageable. read more

Dr. Marnie & the team at Fremont Spine & Wellness are the BEST. The office is clean, their staff is attentive, and I'm always in and out of there feeling a million times better. After being a gymnast & dancer growing up and now working a desk job all day and being a runner, my back, neck, and hips were becoming more and more frequently sore. I am not someone who likes seeing doctors of any kind but I work in Fremont and had heard great things about Dr. Marnie so I decided to give her a shot. She is so great - she's really gentle and explains things really well. I was nervous for a few weeks during my adjustments and she was really patient and made me feel a lot more comfortable. I would recommend Dr. Marnie to anyone who needs a chiropractor. read more

This office has new owners!! I've been seeing Dr Clark and Dr Walton for the last 2 years for my chronic headaches and lower back pain and highly recommended them to anyone searching to not only decrease (or in my case eliminate) their pain, but to also take a look at their overall health and well-being. Both of the Doctors are passionate, personable, knowledgeable and truly want the best for their patients. I've had to put in some work outside of the office in terms of stretching and strengthening on my own via their suggestions, but it's been so worth it! Dr. Clark is also Webster certified, which facilitates optimal pelvic alignment and nerve system function for pregnant women - I've recommended her to all of my prego friends and family. I would highly recommend them & am so happy to see them thriving at their new location in Fremont! read more
