So I tried this place today for the first time and I am impressed and thrilled that I went here. I called morning of to make an appointment and I showed up early and got seated right away. I had Julie. She's perfect. She's nice. HER HANDS ARE SO SOFT. the place practices hygiene with their tools. Very good hygiene may I add. Not a pleasant experience! I go to salons all over the nation because of work travel, and this is at about the bottom of my list. The massage was even painful, let alone the foot scrub. The tech used her fingernail instead of a tool or q-tip to get the extra polish off my shin from the over-painting, and she dug into my skin. The shoulder massage at the drying station lasted about 60 seconds - would have been better off without it. Can not fathom how this place has 4 stars. read more

I've been to French 4U a handful of times, and it's generally a mixed bag. Sometimes, I have a fantastic experience and a great manicure. Others, like my last visit, leave something to be desired. I called ahead last week for a no chip manicure and a pedicure, knowing to block out at least an hour and a half to 2 hours, because that's what I'm used to when getting both a mani/pedi. Most people would love to not spend that much time at a salon, and I'm definitely one of them, but not at the expense of a rush job. I was in and out in an hour flat, for both the mani and pedi, and they were not done at the same time. Both were extremely rushed. The technician barely touched the cuticles on my toes, even though it had been months since my last pedicure. The foot/leg rub was non-existent. The woman who was seated in the chair next to mine when I walked in was still getting her service when I was all finished, and I didn't see that she was getting the fancy up-charge paraffin... just a regular pedi like me. Her tech was just taking much more care and time. The no-chip was equally rushed, and not so great of a job. She cut one of my cuticles until it bled, and several other cuticles are now peeling because she did a poor job. The paint job is also sub-par, I left with clear top-coat all over my cuticles which I didn't notice until I got home. I can already tell that the polish isn't going to last 2 weeks. She also complained my nails were too short for a french manicure. I actually think they're the perfect length. They're grown enough to have a proper french, but not super long (don't like that.) As others have commented, the hand massage was non existent. I think my tech was new, because I'd never seen her there before, and the woman who greeted me (a senior tech, or maybe owner or manager?) was awkwardly watching over her the entire manicure. For $70, the service was definitely not worth the price. French 4U is close to my house and they have a really large no-chip color selection, including the color-changing ones, so maybe I'll try again, but with a different tech. read more

I work in the same plaza, so coming here would have been convenient. I went here once a while ago for fills and a pedicure. Not bad, but more expensive than most places I've visited. I did, however, receive a punch card. I decided to give it another shot... Me: "hi!" Her: "hiiii how can I help you?" Me: "fills, please." Her: "oh noooo. Not today! Sorry!" What?! It was empty! They don't charge for no chip removal and they are very thorough with their pre manicure cleanup! They have a huge selection of colors and even palettes that show you what the colors will look like on your nail which is very useful. I ended up going with a blueish color with some silver sparkle on the fourth finger. They give you a massage at the end! Everything cost me only $35, which is a deal. I come to this place every 2 weeks. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the last 3 times I have gotten a no chip manicure, I have gotten bad SUNBURN around my cuticles and tips of my fingers around the nail from the UV llight that hardens the no chip gel.. Then the skin peels and cuticles get bad. (not to mention it hurts) - IF THEY WOULD JUST PUT SPF SUNBLOCK ON THE CUSTOMER'S HANDS BEFORE PUTTING THEM UNDER THE UV LIGHT- THIS WOULD ELIMIATE THAT ISSUE- We may think that because it is only one minute under the light( 3 separate times, base coat-light, color-light-clear top coat-light) it is not a big deal, but the light is so much closer to our skin than it would be if we were lying in a tanning bed... and even the slightest exposure can cause skin damage- so why not Be On The Safe Side and use the SPF??I think it is an easy solution they could be the first to do it and show they really care about their customers The salon itself is always clean and the ladies are very friendly. They take their time and do a really nice job. My Nails always look perfect. I did notice though that they use the same cuticle trimmer from customer to customer without sterilizing it first. It is metal so maybe could be sprayed down before each use. Same with the foot scraper- no cleaning in between.. They give you an awesome neck massage after each manicure which sets them apart I think. While I do love this place - as it is one of the best I have been to- I wish they (and a lot of other nail spas) would pay more attention to sanitation to prevent infection and disease- and be sure to sterilize tools after every single use. That AND PUT SPF 15 OR 30 Sun Block ON CUSTOMER'S HANDS BEFORE PUTTING THEM UNDER THE UV LIGHT FOR NO CHIP MANICURE- THAT WOULD SOLVE THE SUN BURN / PROBLEM. read more

Better than your average nail salon! I have been coming here on my lunch breaks at work for over two years, but it has recently come under new management and is now even nicer. They replaced all the nail stations to have granite countertops and really comfortable chairs, and the pedicure thrones are all new and very high-end. The nail technicians are extremely professional and polite, and will actually converse WITH you instead of gossip about you to their coworkers in their native language. Also, my technician took a little longer with my mani, but she was extremely meticulous and gave me one of the best manis I've had in a long time. Another nice perk is that they give you a shoulder massage while your nails are finishing up under the dryer :) For $15, the manicure is a good deal combined with great customer service! read more

Very disappointed. I have been here 4 times. I had one good manicure and then 2 bad ones and a bad pedicure. Polish started coming off of my toes the next day. But what really ticked me off was during my last visit, I had my 9 year old daughter will me. While getting my pedicure, I asked if my daughter could get a manicure. There was no one waiting in the salon. After some discussion in another language, I was told "no". I said that I would pay full price - not a kiddy price. An Asian women with short blond hair said "no". I asked why and she shrugged her shoulders at me like she didn't understand. So, 20 minutes later while I am sitting and waiting for my nails to dry, another woman walks in with her daughter. They are both seated and get pedicures. I had to explain to my daughter why the other girl could get her nails done but she couldn't. If the salon was packed, I might understand. Maybe. But this was totally unacceptable behavior. I love this place for so many reasons! I can always get an appointment when I need one and they usually run on time so the waiting is minimal if at all. They are friendly greeting you by your name, such a great touch, you feel like you belong there. The color selection is second to none-so many to choose from and all the latest additions to the top brands, OPI, Essie. The place is clean, as are ALL their instruments and foot bath stations-which is a must. They have a punch card which entitles you to a free manicure when full. While I am very picky with how people do my nails, I got just a basic manicure and I have to say French 4U went above and beyond to do an outstanding job! I have very short nails and they were able to accommodate that no problem. They give one short hand massage and two mini neck and shoulder massages as well as use hot towels on your hands and a wonderful smelling hand scrub for just the standard price of $15. As far as the polish went, they were very precise and careful with a high level of professionalism. French 4U also has a very clean, zen, and modern. interior. Never have I ever paid $40 for an acrylic fill. I am not going back to this place ever again. Nothing special about it at all. The lady at the end told meI had an infected nail so she had to remove one nail and fix it. Being a licensed cosmetologist, I know that legally, she should have told me to get my finger looked at if there was an infection. (It wasn't even an infection, just my outgrown fake nail falling off). They obviously don't know what they are doing and the so called infected nail she fixed broke off an hour later because she couldn't bother to put a tip on it. Just an overlay. Then when I called to speak to the owner, he couldn't even talk to me he gave the phone to the woman who did my nails and she went on and on trying to convince me why they are priced so high. Did not like this place. Manicure was extremely rushed even though they were not busy at all. (why do a hand massage if it is only 5 seconds per hand?) Also the technicians were very obviously talking about me in a different language. I am bilingual too and I have no problem with hearing another language in my presence, but come on you could at least try to be less obvious. There was someone's socks and shoes just lying by the drying station , and no one was getting or had gotten a pedicure , just one other manicure customer in the salon besides me. I was in Lincolnshire visiting my grandma and didn't want to sit in traffic on the way back to the city so I just cruised around the neighborhood until I found a nail salon. This place looked like any other so I decided it would be ok. It was seriously so much better! It was fairly busy and I wanted a mani/pedi but only had to wait a few minutes and as soon as I dunked my feet into the water, I realized I forgot to pick a color. But I told my nail technician, Jenny, that I wanted a light pink and she picked the perfect shade. Then, during my manicure, she rubbed my hands and arms for almost 5 minutes and even rubbed my shoulders and put a hot wet towel on the back of my neck. It felt amazing. I have never been to a place that did that. All in all, I would definitely make the trip back again. It was absolutely well worth it. Everyone was genuniely sweet and Jenny was great. I go to this location often for no chip manicures, pedicures and polish changes! The staff is always extremely friendly and accommodating. They have matching colors (no chip/regular) which is nice if you want your mani-pedi to match. They offer several lines of nail polishes and the techs are good with designs, etc. What I enjoy most about this location is that my no chips always last 3 weeks. I type everyday, do dishes, etc and 3 weeks is longer than any other place I have been to. They also get me in an out in an hour max for both services. The prices are fair if not cheap. I had a $14 manicure, and the nail technician Yuka gave me a massage on my arms and hands and also a fantastic shoulder and neck rub. My manis were carefully applied and I moved to the dryer table. I love love love the people here. Usually it is not so busy, so walk-ins are welcome, though sometimes there is a wait. The staff are friendly to you and each other, making it a fun environment. They know me by name now and always ask about my mom. They are reasonably priced and do a really good job. Julie is the sweetest girl out there and her girls do excellent, perfectionist work (as long as you're nice and they have time). I even had an old punch card (they upgraded to a new one with 10 stamps instead of 7) and they honored it before giving me a new one. I go here all the time, every time. Their no-chips/gels are in displays that allow you to see the actual color. Some you can hold up to your nail, and some are in a little book. So many brands and colors, including the limited edition ones! They also do waxing--my eyebrows always come out excellent. The Price may be little expansive than other salons, but trust me, its worth it. Starting from their manicures, pedicures, waxing, nail polishes, services, and specially the massages, it is THE best. Even though its kind of expansive, whenever you do a manicure or pedicure (or anything) they give you like a massage with like a hot towel, and it feels VERY nice.
