Went for a classic manicure yesterday. Selected only OPI nail polishes as that tends to last for a week or two when I have used it on myself. I was asked to pay prior to receiving services despite seeing other customers do the opposite which felt strange off the bat. It has only been one day since this appointment and 3 of my nails have chipped. I would not say I subjected them to any harsh wear or conditions so I am very unsatisfied with the quality of this appointment. $25 for less than 24 hours of good wear is crazy. read more

Just behind the sweet layer is the owner Jamie who pushes your hand away when she's done with your hand. Makes mean comments to you should you ask for help or a question. Jamie is disrespectful and creates a uncomfortable environment which is stressful and upsetting. Women go to get their nails done to relax and feel good about yourself. It is a shame. read more

Going for a manicure and pedicure should be a relaxing, enjoyable experience! Especially if you are paying upwards of $80.00. Not the case here. I don't know why I keep giving this place a second chance. They couldn't be ruder and make you feel extremely uncomfortable EVEN in front of other customers, who also recognize the rudeness!! Decided to get a pedicure last minute for a wedding. Booked an appointment at 10:45am. Upon arriving we were seated right away and not even asked what we wanted. For starters she was working on me super quick, rubbed my feet with lotion super fast, so fast I was out of my pedicure station by 11:05. I asked for a square nail shape, got round. Never. Got. What. I. Wanted. Can't emphasize that enough. She told me to sit at the drying station and started charging me before my moms pedicure was even done. She charged us 65$ I gave her a 15$ tip and she stood there and asked "you want me to split?" Umm?? You're charging me full amount for a trash service and then asking for more of a tip? Jamie at Sunny Days Nails is terrific! She is always pleasant and does a fantastic job with everything! I recently went in for a no-chip mani (with detailed work on two nails), a pedi, and a eyebrow and lip wax and everything was done with precession!! As always, she exceeded my expectations! I purchased a Groupon for a no chip manicure that expired on October 7. I went to the nail salon on October 5 and when I went to pay with the Groupon the owner Sunny said she closed her account with Groupon and that I will have to pay full price. I explained to her that she may have closed her account however, she should honor the Groupon's that customers purchased. I told her I would pay the amount that I purchased from Groupon and then work with them to get a refund. She was very unprofessional making comments to her staff and telling me she couldn't believe I was so upset, she finally accepted the amount I paid on Groupon. After reading the other reviews on here regarding Groupons not being honored purchase with caution. Very happy Groupon returned the funds no questions asked and said they would follow up to see why Sunny did not honor the Groupon. read more

I get my nails done here every two weeks and I couldn't be happier with Sunny and her staff. Sunny always does a great job on my no chip manicure and my pedicures. My hands are always in water and gloves with my job, and the manicure lasts until the next visit if not longer. She is also very accommodating and patient with my crazy schedule as I sometimes have to change my appointments at the last minute. There is also now an amazing massage chair that she just added to the shop. I was given a free trial, and I think I will be adding this on to my visits in the future! read more

I've had nothing but good experiences at Sunny Days. I mostly get pedi's, but have had a few mani's (including no-chip). I've never had one of those from any other salon, so I can't compare, but I'm happy with it. I love that it doesn't smudge :) The decor is pleasant and there is usually music on, rather than TV, which I appreciate. It's not relaxing to listen to talk shows during my pedi. My husband gave me a gift certificate for a mani/pedi. Sunny Days gave me a hard time about redeeming it. Finally, after a little frustration, the gift certificate was honored. That should have been my first clue not to go back. But go back I did and I was happy about their service until today. Today my sister and I got a pedis. My pedi was just fine but my sister was left with two bleeding toes from her cuticles being cut back too far. Sunny actually thought my sister should pay for this. Good help is hard to find she told us. I was shocked that this was the caliber of service Sunny thinks is ok. After a little back and forth, we paid, left and will never be back. read more

since moving back to the suburbs after spending a decade in the city i have tried many of the local nail salons with terrible experiences. i won't list the names of the salons, but i have gotten my foot cut two different times with that grater thing, sloppy manicures with my cuticles cut to the point of bleeding, and dip powder placed in a chunky blob on top of my nails that chipped off a few days later. i came here after my mom had a great experience and was referred from her friend who has been coming here for years. i wish i would have started here and saved myself the stress! you can tell this place has loyal customers who have been coming consistently and for a long time. the quality service keeps their return customers. they don't overbook, spend a good amount of time on your service and are very pleasant and make sure you have a great experience. looking forward to coming back. my pedicure has just started to chip at the corners over a month after having it done. read more

When our usual place was booked my friend and I decided to try out a new one because we had a gift card. I called to book the appointment for two services and was glad that they had availability on a Saturday with only a 24 hour notice given. When booking the appointments I requested that we be seated together. The pedicures started off without a hitch and I was pleasantly surprised by the 18$ price on their express pedis. The technician was pleasant and the color was applied well but in a way you get what you pay for because my feet still felt rough and not moisturized afterwards. When we went to get our no chip manis the woman sat us separately although out of the 5 mani stations only one was taken. When we said that we wanted to be seated together she said that it's never a guarantee and that most customers don't mind. We mentioned that we minded and that was our request at booking and it's just good business to honor requests like that. The owner, Sunny, decided not to honor the request repeating that she is not doing bad business. I ended up tipping for the pedi but decided not to get the mani in the end. My friend stayed since she had a gift card that in the end they almost didn't honor because it didn't have a date on it. Definitely not a relaxing experience. read more

Mind you before I write this please note that I decided to wait to write this 2 weeks or so to make sure I wanted to write this. Worst and most degrading experience from any spa/business/human interaction. I've never felt as humiliated as I had before ever entering this place. It was my first and last time. I came in for a full leg/bikini waxing. With respect to the lady, I made sure I had showered myself however that should be standard prior to any kind of close encounters with someone especially a professional setting like the doctors for example. I spoke with a woman prior to coming to double check availability. The lady asked if I was hairy and I said nothing above abnormal. Just dark. Once I came in, I was greeted and sat down to wait. Before the lady came by she seemed pretty happy, then saw me and shifted moods pretty quick. I am heavily tattooed but clean and very polite. I took her attitude with a grain a salt figured I could change her by continuing with manners and respect for her space and what was easier for her. She checked my legs, and with disgust she cringed and said I was "very hairy" and "...almost too hairy". No way. Maybe compared to a hairless cat. She sighed and groaned the entire time, no joke. Out loud and clear. Grunts and fumbling and getting frustrated. Wax was getting everywhere. Still I kept calm. We are all human and have bad days. Right? Wrong. I was her bad day. She went to go on to the bikini and with the worst tone of voice that would destroy all self esteem she looked and stared and said... "Do I really have to do this? I will if you want me to........" "Uh, yeah.... I guess" :-/ she goes on and makes the worst possible faces. I asked her to please stop... And she's like "oh haha you know what I mean.. I mean no fun." Told her she made me very uncomfortable. She stopped and said "please check and make sure all is alright" "ma'am... My leg is covered in wax and my whole thighs have hair...." She splotched it with some paper and said "done". I forced my pants on. Went to pay. I paid purposely in credit. She stood waiting for me to sign with a tip. I didn't give her sh*#. I am an incredible tipper even at sub par service. $40.00 was lost from her pocket. I hope she reads this. I know what it's like in the service industry. I work it every day I am a tattoo artist. Never in my life have I dealt with such crap... Even considering my appearance. I don't get mad or bothered when people get quiet when I walk by. But I do when I get degraded and treated like dirt. Shame. Oh, and my hair grew back 3-4 days later. I have full hair now. This was for my wedding. I never treat myself. read more

She said we should read them well and asked me to use it for myself and have my mom pay full price. Not a chance I would ever return after such awful customer service. Maybe I just have high standards, but I expect a $30 no chip manicure to last more than 30 hours or so. Completely dissapointed. The girl who did my pedicure took so long to paint my nails that my legs were cramping from sitting there so long. She also really liked to yank my ankles and feet around. Super fun. The polish was chunky on my nails when she was done and was all over my cuticles. The girl who did my manicure did not soak my hands or trim my cuticles. She slapped paint on and barely filed my nails. No lotion no moisturizing. At the end she slapped my arms for 20 seconds or so...I guess that was supposed to be my massage? I really just have nothing good to say. Go to nail bliss in Des Plaines instead. read more

This nail shop does the basic polish but that is about it. They do not have any technicians who can do even the simplest nail art and charges an arm and a leg for any extras. I just bought a Groupon to get a mani pedi. When I called to make an appointment, the lady that answered the phone was very rude and accused me of not showing up to an appointment before - which has never happened. I had called earlier in the year to switch an appointment I made, so maybe they never updated something on their end. I did in fact get my nails done there, so there was never a time when I didn't show up. Anyway, she proceeded to tell me she has no time to squeeze me in for a mani pedi during the days I was asking for - she said Groupon oversold the deal and they cannot accommodate everyone. Poor business planning in my opinion, and terrible customer service. Groupon has already refunded me. There are plenty of nail salons in Mundelein, so I will never be going back here again. She actually told me to return it, that she had the same a deal as groupon for new customers. I told her no. She told me twice I should do that. I planned to be there at 11:oo she called me asking were I was. I was late by 10 min due to construction. And there was no one in there. Then she started to ask me if I got a extra percent off the Groupon. Which I did, then she told me she should of charged more for the groupon. The she said she did not even need the groupon. That she has plenty of customers. That she did groupon because her friends daughter works at groupon. She yelled at me saying I know you have the groupon you told me 3 times. I had not said anything at that point. I said Groupon is a way of getting new people in. She went on and on about how I live to far. Well Sunny did you ever think I work close by? She ranted about how she doesnt get good customers from Groupon. She was so unprofessional. When she told me she had to charge a extra $5 for taking off the no chip, I said it wasnt on the groupon. She stop doing my nails and said will that be a problem. I just let it go. She was a nightmare. Even doing my nails, she why do you have to twist my hand? Even the hot towel. It was still hot. I did not tip you. Because its clear it was all about the money and you were upset about the Groupon and took it out on me. You spoke so rude me.
