I have been looking for a nail place that does nail art since moving to Indy and I stumbled across the French Pharmacie scrolling through Instagram and Katie did not disappoint. The salon is beautiful inside and for nails you are upstairs in a cute area that has 2 pedi chairs and a nail station. The pedi stations are individual tubs so if you are someone like me who worried about sanitation these are ideal! Katie took her time getting my nails ready for gel which is key for a lasting gel mani. She also worked with me on what I wanted and let me try on a couple gel colors so I could decide what I wanted. I had an outdoor wedding coming up and wanted to have a blowout so that they could hopefully tame my hair from this humidity! I had called on Tuesday and was easily able to set up an appt for that Saturday. They texted me day of seeing if I could come in 30 min earlier for my appt and thankfully my scheduled allowed. I was happy to have snagged the last parking space in that lot, because then otherwise I would have had to pay for my parking. Had a lovely experience here on Saturday morning with Amanda! I booked an aroma touch massage and Amanda took the time to explain all her steps, how the essential oils worked together, and worked with me to create the experience I wanted. And man, did she deliver. I had mentioned to her that I loved scalp massage, so she worked that in to the massage and my hair loved it. I left feeling super zen and smelling AMAZING thanks to all the essential oils. The salon itself was super cute, tucked away in Broad Ripple on a quiet side street. I also loved all the greenery and patio decor they had outside. If it had been a little warmer, I would've sat and enjoyed the massage after glow outside in the sun! Trust me, I've been to quite a few, but Danny is the master. Nestled in the heart of Broad Ripple, French Pharmace, is modern meets elegance. All the friendly smiling faces, make you feel right at home. The hair wash is also a really critical part of the overall hair experience, and this place has some of the most gentle hands to hold my head. There were times that I forgot I was getting my nails done because I was so relaxed and she was so gentle and thorough. The price is right: $55 for a mani/pedi that lasts. Now, let's talk hair/make-up next: I entrusted my wedding day 'do with the French Pharmacie team. We had some scheduling glitches (aka I called to confirm my hair trial and was told that they forgot), but they eventually got worked out thanks to Kate the make-up artist / front desk coordinator's efforts. My hair trial & make-up trial were free -- and thank goodness because my hair fell before I left the driveway. On the wedding day, our up-do's held up (for the most part), but a few more pins or hairspray would have been beneficial. And finally, let's talk decor: The decor is drool-worthy. It is simple, serene and modern. I want to move in, to be quite honest. ;) Its gorgeous! The Spa at French Pharmacie is the ideal place for a group of gals or gents to prepare for a special event. The Pharmacie's jewelry is stunning, too. Don't be surprised to find $1,000-plus pricetags on richly colored rings with single stones. Big and small chain link necklaces make a different fashion statement, and look very Chanel. Housewares are eclectic but always elegant. You'll find bistro-inspired plates and cups, but also artsy miniature mounted skulls that look like they came from jackalopes. A spa was recently added. I had Heather, one of the owners, cut my hair yesterday. I used to wait to get my haircut when I go back home in South Korea for long breaks(I'm studying abroad), where I believe have awesome hair stylists who understand asian hair way better (obviously). And I am the pickest person in the world and hated most of hair experience here in the US (indy, chicago, LA) But after havig self styling frustrations of several weeks since I haven't had a haircut for forever, and my hair was getting really puffy and ugly trapezoid shape at the end, I decided to give a try here. My professor has been a loyal customer over 10 yrs here, and no wonder, Heather was GREAT. Understood my hair and my needs without a hassle. She was like, I got this ;) and oh my, she totally did. Though I am student and it cost little more than what I normally pay, It worth EVERY penny. As soon as I got my haircut, I ran straight to the front and booked my next appointment with her for haircut& color & highlight and they gave me a good deal for getting them all at one appointment. The only quality this place has is the ambiance. It is a very cute and comfortable space however, the quality of the service is sub-par. This is the third time I have experienced their manicures, and each time I am disappointed. Why I go back, you ask? Because it's a really cute place and I am in denial that they continue to suck. $20 is steep for a shitty manicure and it doesn't matter how cool the place is. Plus, my manicure was less than 20 minutes. And the hand massage was done with someone with really dry hands. ewwy. My sister had her hair done and it fell out 1 hour after she had it done for $168! If I could give 10 stars I would! I moved to Indy in January and had serious anxiety about finding a new stylist. French Pharmacie was a blessing - from graciously and effortlessly handling my high maintenance, special needs hair and rare allergy to a common chemical to the wickedly amazing color and cut - Adrianna is a hair goddess not to mention a genuinely good person. I'm now moving (again) to LA, but plan to keep coming back to see Adrianna as much as I can. The reception team is always welcoming, nice and pours wine with a heavy hand (even at 1:00 on a Tuesday when it's been that kind of week...already!). Love that this is a small business and the only GREEN certified salon in Indy (meaning they recycle almost everything they use). I like the name, a lot, and the ambiance. They've made clever use of their space, using curtains to divide the upstairs into three cabana-like rooms. I went for a facial. I've been blessed with good skin but everybody's skin takes a beating during the Indiana winter. I wanted to give mine a little TLC. The facial was just ok. When I left my face was still a bit inflamed from the extractions and it took a half an hour for it to look normal again. (This has not been my experience at other salons) My experience would also have been better with a lighter push on the products. It started as soon as I lay down on the table and ended with my facialist walking me to the product shelf to point out $150 worth of products she recommended I buy. Next time someone asks me "Are you open to changing products?" I will say a clear no instead of a polite yes, unless they have really amazing skin. read more

Went to the pharmacie for the first time last night for a much needed pedicure. I haven't had one for a year (I've just done my own), and in preparation for a beach vacation and being pregnant I decided to treat myself to a pedicure. I arrived and found the decor really beautiful, and staff was really friendly. I was taken upstairs to the body work/nail area, and picked my color. The chair was really comfortable, with plenty of new magazines for my reading pleasure. My technician was super nice (I can't remember her name, I'm a terrible person), and wasn't overly chatty, just the right amount. I was able to chat a bit, and read the latest trash rags (people magazine) for my pop culture updates. The experience was great, and I will be going back for sure, probably sooner than a year from now! read more

The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful from the beginning, and I was very impressed with their prompt responses. They even stayed open later than business hours to make our day special. My fiancé was very pleased with her massage and loved her facial. It was the best facial she's ever received! They also did a great mani/pedi and hair and make-up. We were very happy with everything. Let me start by saying how adorable this salon is. Tucked away off Broad Ripple's busy main street it has a very inviting atmosphere. I received a gift certificate and decided to use it for a gel mani. First time for this type of mani and first time here! Upstairs is very relaxing and the service was great. I love the upstairs area for Spa treatments! I booked a Mani-Pedi before my vacation/SIL's wedding. The upstairs addition is quite relaxing. Plus my gel manicure lasted my evite vacation through El Salvador and Florida! With as much beach and pool time add I logged, that's an accomplishment. Not only have I had soda treatments here, I've also had a color, bang trims and eyebrow waxes and well. All services have always been great. My last service was a color with Adrianna, I got my ombre redone and it turned out fabulous. She did a great job, was super personable and I still love my hair. The new owners have done a great job of really creating an atmosphere that is refreshing, beautiful and fun. I could have stayed all day!!! My hair looks outstanding. The best color I've ever had. I arrived at the salon during a training class and I was so impressed with the level of professionalism, and engagement, a very intelligent group of stylists. I've been seeing Amanda for a monthly massage for the past 3 to 4 years, and she is wonderful! Not only is she knowledgeable and skilled, she takes the time to listen to what problem areas I'm having (and manages to find some I didn't even know I had!). My posture and back flexibility have improved significantly since seeing her, and I get far fewer migraines resulting from tension headaches. Cost-wise, I would say it's about average for what you would expect to pay for a good massage in the area ($80 plus tip). It is so well worth it when I think about some of the horrible, cheaper massages I've received when I was trying to save a buck (one got my hair caught in the table, another rubbed my scalp until my hair felt like sandpaper shearing my skin off...). In other words, Amanda is awesome and worth more than what she currently charges :) I should add that I've never been to the salon part of the business, so I don't have anything to add there. The front desk staff are always very nice, friendly, and welcoming. read more

Danny is simply the best. Better than all the rest. Better than anyone. Anyone I've ever met. Okay. Maybe not Anyone/Everyone. But he is the best when it comes to making my dull, fine locks spring full of life and texture. For years I was told, "Abbey, your hair won't do a swoop bang." I've left salons in the past, only to pull out the scissors upon arriving home, eventually pouring a drink after attempting to 'fix' what went wrong. Never with Danny! I always leave pleased and feeling pampered. The environment of French Phramacie is calm and perfectly decorated. The products they carry are also fantastic. I used my second (and last) Groupon coupon at French Pharmacie today for a facial with a different esthetician than I had the first time. This one was better, but still no WOW factor. She DID do an amazing thing to my brows (which of course cost me more), but I just don't see this place being my 'go to' place for monthly facials. Mindy, the esthetician, really knows what she is doing and has been in the skincare business for several years, but when I agreed to the extra brow work, it didn't extend out my facial...so in effect, the 15 minutes spent on my brows came off the time of my facial. I always get my hair done by Valerie, and have been for about 10 years. I think her cousin, Phil, owns the salon part of French Pharmacie. I should note that by this point in time, I'm biased toward Valerie. I love her. The things she can do to my hair, oy vey. It's insane. I like to get it cut in such a way that it looks like I did something with it even if I did nothing, and she's all about it and always knows how. I've had colors from blond, blue, black, purple, and fuschia, and she has implemented, mended, and improved my hair each time. The ambiance of the shop is great. Everyone is personable and warm. The layout is of a sort of open format with some curtains to divide areas. Everything is white and pristine and has a sort of chic mod hipster vibe to it, but not in a way that could seem overbearing. Sometimes Phil's dog, Eliot, is hanging about the shop. Eliot is an immaculately groomed poodle that seems to float about the shop as if she owns the place. Everything about French Pharmacie is love. And, since it's right in the middle of Broad Ripple, when you're done you can go have lunch or some other thing. read more

I never review places, but I liked this place way too much not to. I was recommended by a former co-worker. She told me to book with Adrianna, and I loved her! Although my hair is not particularly hard to deal with, I am very nervous about letting people cut and style it. Adrianna was so sweet, she gave me suggestions and told me what she thought would look best. I am also one of the most awkward people alive, and Adrianna did not push me into conversation. I felt very relaxed and at ease with her. I mentioned that I was getting married next year and trying to grow my hair out as long as possible, and Adrianna gave me some great tips. She mentioned she does the hair and make up for brides, as well as bridesmaids. I didn't feel like she pushed me into booking my bridal party right away. At the end of the appointment, I got their pricing information, which was cheaper than other salons. The salon itself is so cute and elegant, I've never been to a place like French Pharmacie before. I will definitely be going back to Adrianna for more cuts and I'm likely going to book my wedding day hair and make up there, as well. I also got a gel manicure a few days before my haircut. The atmosphere was great, there's an upstairs area for the spa/massages/facials. Katie gave me my manicure, she was very sweet and I felt very calm and relaxed. It wasn't the best gel manicure I've ever had, when I left I noticed nail polish on my skin and the application of polish around my cuticles was a little messed up, but everyone has their off days. It's on the pricey side ($35, I'm used to paying about $28-$30), but if you like being pampered and having the attention on you, French Pharmacie is a great option. I live in the Fishers area, and it's a little far for me because I like to get gel manicures on a bi-weekly basis, but I might try to schedule my hair appointments with nail appointments as well. read more

I feel like a bit of a plebeian at the French Pharmacie. You know, before the storming of the Bastille. In other words, this place is fancy. Like, drink a glass of red wine while you wait and contemplate your tax bracket vis a vis the other patrons. Wonder how you could possibly master the poise of the well-mannered and -coiffed standard poodle that oversees the salon like the maitre d' of a five-star hotel. This type of atmosphere might normally send my into paroxysms of social anxiety, but my girl Teddi does such an excellent job on my locks that it's totally worth it. I can go for months without looking like I need a haircut, which is both impressive and cost-effective. read more
