Popped in for a late morning weekday coffee with sister-in-law. One other person in line in front of us. Quiet and not busy. Staff was talking amongst themselves. SIL asked for an espresso drink: what was the strongest/closest they had to four shots of espresso? Counter staff wasn't totally sure; she explained some options, but the response was the Americano with cream and an extra shot. I had a latte. Still lots of staff talking. Drinks were produced, but we both were disappointed. I could drink her espresso, which I usually cannot, and my latte was just meh. The whole experience left us just wishing we had gone back to the coffee house we had visited a couple of times during her visit and not spent our money here. read more

I always come here knowing that I can get a really good breakfast croissant sandwich, and it's fresh, unlike Starbucks. A lot of hardworking people here and I think the owner of this chain could show some more love to the store and there employees. Maybe updating things and giving some raises. They deserve it. The teenagers there today (Jan 26, 2025) were extremely rude - not just as teenagers but as human beings. They were impatient, raised their voice when asking which type of drink we wanted when we were still making the decision (and no one else was in line). This happened on 2 separate occasions - I went in first, and then my friends came by. They were also chatting poorly about their coworkers quite loudly. Wow!! This cute little place is outstanding!! The two young ladies who helped me place my order on Sep. 30th were fantastic!! The croissant with egg and cheese was fabulous!!! Today was my first time trying French Press & I must say I've been missing out!! I ordered the bacon, egg, & cheese croissant sandwich & a White chocolate La Freeze! Arghhhhhhh. Quick stop for breakfast/brunch & while I'm glad this place was open & not crowded; I should've just waited at the other place & dealt with the crowd. The right: -the western omelette sandwich with a side of salsa, proved to be just right for my appetite. I was even able to save the other half for a later meal -the price was fair, two sandwiches & 2 drinks, 20 bucks The not so right: -parking is scarce for this location; located on the corner of Severn & 18th street, this little lot is able to accommodate about 16-18 cars & then the lot is full. Which means you have to use the drive-thru or TRY to park elsewhere, good luck on NOT being towed The oh so wrong: -attitude of the pink-haired drink preparer; she was very slow, not methodical, but slow as though she was tired or sleepy. I wasn't starving, so this wasn't an irritation, but more of an observation -the customer service... So the bubble teas are milk based & while I didnt realize it the first time, I have since realized the err of my ways. I asked the drinks to be remade without milk but with water, to which another cafe worker said 'it wasn't our error, but yours and blah, blah, we can't remake the drinks'. Every time I come to either the david drive or Williams location it is a joke and half. I can be only one in line and it still takes 10 minutes for simply one iced coffee. I've had many horrible experiences with this place. Most recently I had to say my order three times asking for just a little bit of milk. The person on drive thru repeated back my order and said "and a whole lot of milk," which was so rude. (This was david drive) On airline, they pour half the cup with milk and a splash of coffee even when I say a little bit. It's just horrible service and an extremely long wait time for no reason!! My work is very close so I really want to love this place and keep giving it a try but for being a coffee house, they never have hot coffee! I've just given up and know at this point that if I order in the drive thru, I'm going to wait at least 10 minutes, deal with either ride or very incompetent service and receive luke warm coffee! One car in front of me pulled off in the drive through after waiting 20 minutes. The employee came to the window and asked me if I ordered something they I didn't. Then I was asked to pull up and wait for no more than 5 minutes, which of course wasn't true. IT TOOK 30 MINUTES for this transaction to get one drink at what started at 2:00 in the afternoon. I try my best not to knock a place too terribly, but damn, this place needs a checkup. First and foremost, we were not greeted with super friendly service. That's just a rough start for me after working in the service industry for so long and receiving amazing service at other places of this kind. Secondly, and possibly worst: no coldbrew on the menu at this point in the coffee biz is a no-no. I ordered tomato basil soup and a small chicken ceasar and I could barely eat it. Soup was cold (and tasted like it was from La Madeleine, which is across the street) and the chicken on the salad was so obviously warmed up in a package in the microwave it made me sad. My mom said her chicken salad was mayo-heavy and very blah; the coffee was as bland as the service. Third...the bathroom. Did someone throw up in there before me and just clean up as best as possible? Or has it been this bad for a while? Roll was out and a fresh one was laying haphazardly on the table in front of the toilet. Just not a good scene. This business wins the Most Insane Drive Thru Award. I realize that coffee shops likely increase their business tenfold by having a drive thru. I realize this was likely not built specifically to be a coffee shop. Even knowing these things, I think the drive thru is ridiculous. It starts inoccuous enough when you order, but once you have, look out. The turn is so sharp that I was freaking out that I would damage my car. I have received awards for driving and I was still freaking out. I can't even imagine someone in a giant SUV attempting this without side swiping a pole. Had I known I would have parked and gotten soaking wet in the rain to avoid the stress. The drive thru is pretty easy to avoid by walking in so what about the actual items I purchased? My plain iced coffee was good. It was on par with other chain coffee shops. We also ordered cake pops because my children needed to be bribed. The problem with the pops was that they had a hard icing on the exterior that had a strong chemical odor to it. It was off putting that we ended up throwing them away. I was early for a book club meeting out in the metrys and stopped in for a cuppa and hopefully a slice of king cake. The hot teas is mighty leaf brand. And it was fine. Y'know a basic cup of tea. The king cake by the slice was from one of the Randazzo's...I'm not sure which one. But here's my pet peeve, if you're going to serve king cake by the slice make sure all slices are near the same width. Don't make me ask for the healthier slice when you try to give a scrawny one and they're both the same price. LOVE this place!! French Press is my favorite place to study because of the atmosphere: the booths are sooo comfortable, the decor is gives a homey yet modern touch, and there are outlets EVERYWHERE! I don't know about you, but having outlets everywhere indicates a coffee shop is a clear winner. It's also a good place for meetings, hang outs, etc. The coffee itself is also delish! I've tried the king cake and red velvet flavored coffee and it was MMMM-HMMM good! And THEN I tried their food! Also great! The crawfish etouffee was to-die-for! OMG talk about addicting! Then there's the chicken press wrap. It wasn't as flavorful as I wanted it to be, but at least it was healthy? There were a bunch of dishes to choose from that sounded good, so I'll make sure to try something else next time. They also offer a good variety of desserts and pastries; I'm sad to say that I won't be able to try them any time soon since I gave it up for dessert :( But on the bright side, I look forward to coming here often from now on! :) read more

Pasion fruit bubble tea is good, coffee is strong! chicken salad is really good. Frozen drinks are a rip off, its always half foamy ice. The corn and crab soup had a can taste. They have the smallest drive thru ever, so dont attempt if you have a SUV. But I like going because its locally owned and they pride themselves on buying their coffee locally too. read more

I was looking for a new coffee shop option besides tStarbucks, so I stopped here one morning looking for my espresso fix. I ordered the Varamel Iced Latte in that middle size, I think they call it moyen. It was wayyyy too sweet and I don't think it had any espresso in it at all. It doesn't even look like it has any espresso, just caramel and milk. I didn't even drink it; It was beginning to make my stomach hurt. Definitely won't come back. A waste of $5.
