Decided to stop by and try this place out and was definitely not disappointed. It's small and cozy on the inside, it gives the vibe of a coffee shop/cafe and their staff were also super friendly. On to the food. We tried the shrimp n' grits and the salmon n' grits. Unfortunately my mom is allergic to seafood and clearly none of us read the menu properly but it wasn't anything a lil Benadryl couldn't fix. The shrimp, which are real gulf shrimp, and if they aren't then they could've fooled me. They were so good, cooked perfectly. The grits were creamy and the sauce was so flavorful. I still order "The Blossom" for my daughter's namesake and that rose and lavender is the perfect combo in a latte-- floral but so balanced, I hope they never take it off their menu. Looking for caffeine!? This is your spot. Located in Gentilly right across from the Fair Grounds. I've gone here a couple of times. Once for just a drink on a real sleepy morning, and another when I was both hungry and sleepy. lol I'm a bit caffeine sensitive so I may not be the best person to tell you about that but my drinks on both occasions had me wired! lol The Midoriya, which is matcha, oat milk, honey, and cinnamon was really good, as I am a matcha girl. Could've been a tad sweeter but I probably didn't need all that sugar anyway. My second visit, I got the Sad Boy Chai, that has chai, oat milk, espresso, lavender, and cinnamon. While I love chai, I hate coffee, so that espresso ruined this drink for me. I didn't think the taste of it would be so strong. I mean, I drank it because I spent my money. But it was like drinking beer, you know how it's nasty but you just keep drinking until you trick yourself into thinking you like it. like that LOL. I just won't get that one again. I do want to try all the others, though. As for food, I wanted something I thought would be quick, so I ordered a little bacon egg and cheese sandwich. It was fresh, the eggs were nice and fluffy, bacon, perfection. My only gripe would be how long it took. All food orders go out to the food truck and can take up to an hour. Will I be back? Yes! Absolutely! but unless I can order my food ahead, I'll probably only get a drink. Check this place out for yourself, and if you have time definitely get some of their bites. Loved it! It's been on our list for a while, and we finally made it. It's a cozy cafe with breakfast items served from a food truck. The ladies working were very friendly, making sure to call guests by their name and greeting everyone who came in. Food and drinks were good. The Sad Boy Chai is the best chai I've had in a long time -- I'll definitely be back for it! We tried both the hot and cold versions, and the hint of lavender was a nice touch. This is a good cafe to get work done, cozy, quiet, with Incredible service. Not even their service can compare to the coffee they offer. After getting our coffees we sat at a table outside and took our first sip and I actually went back inside tot elk the employees how delicious it was and to find out what beans they used. They typically brew Counter Culture beans, but were out of stock and were brewing Hey Cafe's Monte Vista blend! One of the best coffees I've had in a long time! This spot is so cool. From the actual building to the bright interior and delicious java, it just embodies a New Orleans coffee experience. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable of their menu. Such a cute and quaint black-owned coffee shop in the Gentilly/Fair Grounds area! The staff is always super nice and helpful, and the coffee is good and very reasonable. I got a medium iced coffee with a shot of espresso that they refer to as the "Jedi" (because they were out of cold brew but, this hit the spot!) with almond milk and caramel syrup..all for $4. There are 2 booths and a couple bar stools along the window so, not much seating but usually during the day, you can snag a seat. This place is super cute and cozy, and across from the race track to boot! I got to try the ginger lime rooibos tea for a Yelp Elite Perk, and I bought a mulled apple cider to take to my boyfriend. The ginger lime tea (I found out later that rooibos is a type of red tea) was so fragrant and packs a punch of flavor. I loved it and highly recommend it! However, I have to take one star away for the mulled apple cider. It was sufficiently spiced, but the apple cider itself was super diluted, like apple juice mixed with water. Calling it cider is an offense to New Englanders like me. I had to take another star away for their employees being careless with masks. Some of the batistas had their noses exposed while working or pulled down their masks to yell out customer names for orders right over the beverages. With the variant strains being more contagious than the initial strain, we should be more careful than ever. I took the drinks home and microwaved them to be safe. read more

Located right across from the fairgrounds this establishment does not have parking however there is an abundance of street parking. Greeted upon entering staff very sweet and helpful! Yes I am a fan along with everyone else and for the reasons everyone else stated, but y'all still gonna get this review. Ya heard. I love love love when businesses fill an actual need. From the mouths of the folks in the neighborhood a coffee shop in this location was a need. Also, it feels a need for me too as more folks are working from home it is nice to have a meeting place to offer that doesnt require them to come downtown. If there was one word to describe Park Island it would be thoughtful. From the reusable or recyclable to go cups, to the sourcing of the coffee, to the creative and regularly refreshed coffee concoctions they have really been thoughtful. The customer service, chef's kiss. They always remind me to get my points. I've noticed true regulars have the orders remembered. Also, although during mornings it just one person working drinks and orders, lines are pretty decently taken care of. If you are going to use this as a meeting space or work space do know that it can get full during obvious peak times. Also though the seating is sufficient it isnt the amount of say a Backatown or Coffee Science. I've always been able to get seating between 8am and 8:30am. But I have looked around at 9am and 9:30 and found just one indoor space left. So, now that you have all my hot tips, go, get your life at Park Island Brew. read more
