This review is a little crazy because I don't drink or like coffee at all. Why do I come here you ask? Their bubble tea! Oh, I've had literally every flavor bubble tea they have. They have almost the same consistency of a smoothie but a bit creamier. I had to get used to the tapioca pearls but they became addictive after a while. I can recommend all their bubble tea flavors they are all my favorite. So if you in the area I definitely recommend the bubble tea from here. All I can say is that I wish Kenner had more coffeeshops. This place is miserable, but as an out-of-towner I don't have the patience to find a friendly, well equipped (in terms of human capital) coffee shop when I am going for convenience in the immediate vicinity. When I have the option, I will drive 15-20 minutes out of my way to get friendly service. Ultimately, there are two reliably things about French Press. First, it is convenient in terms of its location (at least for my purposes). Second, these folks hate their jobs, their customers, and their product. I'm not sure if they are overworked, underpaid, or if they were simply recruited via an old school ad on Craigslist asking for the most curmudgeonly folks in the city. Super disappointed. I was in town for work and desperately needed a work spot for a few hours. Upon entering, the majority of the tables were piled high with dirty dishes, etc. from customers who had already left. The cleared tables were covered with crumbs and clearly had not been cleaned. About an hour after I had been there, two customers noticed a large roach crawling on the ceiling above the eating area. The employees acknowledged them but did nothing about it. The roach stayed on the ceiling for another two hours, and still the employees did nothing. As I left, I notified the cashier again that there was a roach on the ceiling and it needed to be dealt with before more customers saw. He replied "I'm really not sure what I can do about it so it will just have to stay." This is pitiful and poor customer service. We went here while in La., visiting family. Stuck in traffic, and boy were we happy to find this place! Very clean inside, tasty treats for any time of day, and delish drinks. The southern pecan was quite delish without being too sweet or sugary. Coffee wasn't bitter, and family had tea that was also nice. Overall, clean facility, clean bathrooms, nice lighting / ambiance and has a lot of parking, drive thru, food, and quality coffee. What isn't to like. I really believe that French Press just has the best tasting coffee out of any other coffee place! I love the variety of flavors they offer you. Atmosphere is usually always nice at all the locations especially this one. The only reason this wasnt a 5 star is because i wouldn't suggest them of you ever in a hurry. One day I was visiting my Ex out in Kenner. She told me that she wanted to get a coffee. I really didn't feel like driving way out to Starbucks so I decided to check out this place instead. The service was very friendly and quick. Unlike starbucks these people didn't come off as being uppity and too good for our service. They made our coffee with relative haste also. The coffee was pretty good. I had the southern pecan Iced coffee. I'm not much of a coffee drinker But when I order coffee I get Iced coffee. This coffee was off the chain! INCONSISTENT! That is what I dislike about this place. Sometimes there is garbage on all the tables, sometimes it is immaculate. Sometimes the coffee is good, othertimes it tastes like mud. The breakfast menu is pretty good. The catch is eating there on the day when the food is not greasy, over cooked, or slung on the plate. Nine dollars for a breakfast sandwich, and I expect the toast to line up on the plate not have the bread facing two different directions arranged in a haphazard imitation of abstract art. The whole place has a pretentious feel to it especially considering the actual location. This is the part of town that at night, you can just hear the crackle of distant gunfire and not ignore the ever obvious roar of the low flying airplanes. You actually have to raise your voice when they fly over when you are inside the building. The nearby Taco restaurant ensures you will hear lots of bass thumping out of the speakers of the patrons, and on a bonus day, there will be a traffic stop with a 50% chance of it leading to an arrest. The staff....Characters. you never know if you are going to get at the register, Mr. Hipster , Miss Banana Republic or the Emo one with the real problems. It was okay. The frozen mocha I had was okay. I like a strong coffee flavor to my drinks and it was kind of lacking. We had some bites to eat because we had a gift card and I wanted to use it up. I've been here twice, so this won't be long. After a couple of long driving days, I've felt the sudden urge for coffee. I've been here twice. Once...using the drive through and I thought the experience was memorable enough to stop in again. This time I went inside. There were several people dining. There were quite a number of people on computers, a few patrolmen opting for healthy sandwich choices over donuts. The gal was working the drive through and the counter, so I had to wait a bit. That was okay, it gave me a chance to study the menu. I thought it looked pricey. A large cup of the standard coffee ran me $2 something, but the cup was as large as a vente at starbucks. So now, it's not so pricey. The gal kindly pointed out the fixings area, and I meandered over to flush my coffee with sugar and half and half. Best place to study and eat. I love their frozen coffee there its not overly sweet like most places. The food there is great for a quick bite such as their chicken caesar wrap and chicken press. I love the environment there, nice spacious booth tables for studying and free wifi. I'm surprised that for a place called French Press Coffee House, only one person bothered even mentioning the French Press Coffee. It's kind of a secret (for some reason it's not mentioned on the menu), but the best way to order their coffee is to have it brewed in a press pot. You won't regret it. Don't ruin it with flavors, cream, and sugar, and all that junk. Taste the coffee, not the amendments. I've only ever ordered through the drive-thru, so can't comment on the inside service and atmosphere. I was at a nearby hotel and was looking for quick and tasty takeout to bring back to the room. Tasty = yes. Quick... not-so-much. Iced coffee was strong (yum), though a tad expensive at $3.50 for about 12 oz. Bagel sandwiches were pretty good but also a little pricy at $4 for bagel thin, egg, bacon, cheese. It took more than 15 minutes to make the sandwiches due to electrical problems they were having in the kitchen. Hip and Trendy Coffee spot locally known for their Southern Pecan Coffee!! Nice coffee selection with drive thru or walk in. The spot is a little far from the city and would probably give PJ's some competition if they were located within new orleans. Booths are super comfortable to work in and offer a sort of seclusion to help you get work done. **However, come prepared.. bring blankets, sweatshirts, ear muffs whatever you need to prevent from freezing in the booth area. Free Wi-Fi. The food is ok, at best. Not a big fan of finding those cold, clear slimy things in my turkey (sorry to be graphic yelpers!). They have daily soup specials which seem to be a little bit on the pricey side, but you can't have it all. Coffees not my thing so I'm not sure how that is here,I always get hot tea. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Parking can sometimes be a hassle so prepare to park across the street in the taco bell/rite aid parking lot. I frequent this location quite a bit, as I come in from New Orleans to work in Esplanade Mall (it is on the way, the route I take). I am not a huge coffee drinker, so I usually get mochas and chai lattes. Occasionally, I order bagels and breakfast sandwiches here when I don't have time to eat at home before work. There are several workers here who work lots of hours (or I guess the ones I always frequent during) that are very friendly, and kind. They are always upbeat, which I appreciate. 3/4 of the last times I've ordered a bagel it was forgotten, and I had to drive back or park after getting out of the drive through only to wait in line inside again. All 4 times they put strawberry cream cheese instead of the regular I always say. I've only had one wrong drink-hot chai requested, chai latte given, but that's an easy mistake (and I like the lattes anyway). They are usually busy, and are a little slow getting to you. There have been times I've been forced to leave the line because of almost being late to work, but, that said with their level of customers and made to order offers, I can understand the wait. The only thing that gets a little frustrating is they don't always great you, and sometimes you can spend a good 5 minutes waiting at the counter with no acknowledgement. All in all its a good place to visit though. I like my regular ladies a lot! *edit for clarity-the bagel deal was a "have a nice day!" Always waiting for THEIR conclusion of the interaction. The worst customer service I've experienced in a long time Order a sandwich and iced tea. Pay cashier says nothing. I walk away and sit down. Wait approx 20 minutes and nothing. Go up to counter and ask? In an unprofessional way, woman opens styrofoam box and looks inside. Here it is.....I then ask about the iced tea. Know nothing about it. What size? Fills the cup and slides it across counter. Again nothing. Some real problem with the customer facing staff. But sandwich was excellent. Nice place, but service very rude. I came to ask for coffee & bagel with cream cheese ,but the you lady behind the register said " no cream cheese you want just the bagel ". For me it's fine if there is no cream cheese, but you don't have to be rude with Custmer. As I headed out of state Friday morning (approx. 11:10), I visited the Kenner location of this establishment. My brother and I ordered using the drive through service (1 latte, 1 frappuccino type drink, 2 breakfast sandwiches). The cashier was utterly rude and I found quite disrespectful. She asked "is that all" after, seemingly, every two words spoken to her by my brother as he placed our order. We drove to the window to make payment and receive our order, at which time my brother asked whether bottled water was also sold. He also asked for the price. Grant it, if we had seen water listed on the menu we would have known this information. However, we were rushed to finish placing our order and that detail was overlooked. There were two young ladies working in the store who carried on a conversation among themselves about us, the costumers! The one to take our order did not come to the window, a young man greeted us (who was very kind and professional). As he spoke, bits of the conversation between the young ladies was overheard by me, such as "they didn't see the price on the sign?" I hate to believe this is the type of business being operated on Williams Blvd., an operation that is disrespectful to its costumers. I asked to speak with a manager at that time, but was told that there was no manager working at that time. I then asked for a business card and the name of the manager. At that time, one of the young ladies (after handing me the card and giving a name) quickly closed and locked the window (which had not been closed or definitely lock the entire time). Perhaps then she realized I overheard their remarks and saw their smirking faces. We have returned to New Orleans today after a very busy weekend. However, I could not go another day without informing this company of those unprofessional and disrespectful staff members. I certainly hope this is not the normal costumer service offered. Went to French Press to study around 10AM. I wouldn't suggest coming here to study early on in the day cause there's a lot going on, but I'm sure it's different during the afternoon. Had a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant on my visit here it was pretty good. Cinnamon Bun here was straight, cheese danish was straight. I'd return for a quick pick me up of coffee, and breakfast only thing deterring me from studying here is that it's kind of small, and it can get pretty stuffy depending on the volume the kitchen is cranking out. read more
