I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this veterinary clinic. I brought my elderly dog in for his scheduled vaccines, including an oral vaccine that needed to be administered into his mouth. The injection was completed without issue because I assisted in muzzling my dog. However, when it came time for the oral vaccine, the staff unexpectedly instructed me to administer it myself. I explained that my dog is elderly, does not tolerate medications well, and would likely bite me or a family member if we attempted to force medication into his mouth. My understanding is that part of the reason pet owners bring their animals to a veterinary clinic and pay for professional services is to receive assistance with procedures that cannot be safely performed at home. What made this experience particularly upsetting was the response from the female senior veterinary technician. Instead of discussing the situation professionally and calmly, she raised her voice and repeatedly emphasized that she would not allow her staff to be bitten because my dog was "aggressive." While I fully understand the importance of staff safety, there was no reason for the conversation to become confrontational or disrespectful. In contrast, the younger veterinary technicians were kind, patient, and professional throughout the visit. One staff member in particular, Kymberly, went above and beyond to help. Thanks to her calm guidance and willingness to assist, we were eventually able to administer the vaccine. Kymberly has helped my elderly dog on multiple occasions over the years, and her compassion and professionalism are the reason I would give this clinic any positive rating at all. What is most frustrating is that we have been clients of this clinic for years, and this same vaccine has been successfully administered by clinic staff many times in the past. The inconsistency in care and the dismissive attitude we encountered during this visit were shocking. Kymberly deserves 5 stars for her excellent service, patience, and compassion. Unfortunately, my interaction with the other veterinary technician (senior female veterinary technician) was so negative that it has made me seriously question whether I want to continue bringing my pets to this clinic. I hope management takes this feedback seriously. Pet owners deserve to be treated with respect, and veterinary staff should communicate with empathy and professionalism, especially when working with elderly pets and concerned owners. read more

And I love that Dr Doel, personally after every procedure and test that we do to give me a personal update. He also does a great job of explaining what his concerns are but is also very realistic about complications and outcomes. They spent a lot of time, not just checking her and giving her her shot, but asking a lot of questions to get to know the environment, she will be raised in, and offering suggestions on how to make sure she gets proper training, love, and care. OK, let me start with the positives. The Staff was affable and I was able to get an appointment on relatively short notice because my regular vet was out of town. (After going I now understand why it was easy to get in) I brought in my 10 week old kitten for a wellness exam. Typical wellness exams are basic a cost around $100ish. The vet I saw was pushy and seemed in a hurry. The staff then gave me an estimated bill for $920. It was INSANE. They are clearly one of those vets who pushes unnecessary testing on unsuspecting customers. I left immediately. Please don't walk, run from this vet hospital. My cat, my baby, Moxie has been sick for almost 6 months with Calicivirus. We've been to multiple vets, talked to so many consultants, and have had many tests and medications. Nothing has felt thorough or successful. Not until we went to FVVH. I actually found them by calling random vets to see if I can get Moxie seen ASAP. Becky answered my call and she met my concerns with empathy, experience, and went above and beyond helping us get Moxie seen by the amazing DVM Deol. To be fully transparent, my husband and I were expecting the worse. We went into this appointment thinking it would be just like the last, in and out. But we literally cried because it was the exact opposite. The staff here cares about these little furry lives. It's not a cash grab. It's personal and intentional. We even got a follow up call a few days later to check on how Moxie is doing!!! We couldn't recommend FVVH enough. Avoid this place at all costs! I brought in my 9 week old puppies for an exam. I wasn't allowed inside because they are truly the only business I know that apparently requires masks to even walk inside (guy who set my appt did not tell me this) Then the red flags really start... Vet then comes back outside, asking where I got my puppies from... I simply said out of state, then he says "Oh yea I know about these breeders... Well how much did you pay for them?"... Uhm, that is irrelevant to why I am here and pretty unprofessional to even ask someone that. He then tells me one pup has an ear infection. I was really confused because she has not once shown signs of one (never scratching her ears, seems happy as can be)... The bill I then got was over $400 for all these antibiotics, mite scans, etc. I knew something wasn't right so I left without their "treatment" plan and was able to get into Sky Canyon Animal Hospital just down Winchester. Guess what? SHE DOESN'T HAVE AN EAR INFECTION. The vet simply looked into her ear and could tell there is no redness or infection. She has very mild yeast bacteria causing some wax buildup and Sky Canyon Vet sent me home with ear cleanser that only cost $20! And I was actually allowed in the exam room as well. Now as I look at French Valley Vet reviews, it looks as though 15 days ago another person had almost the same thing happen to them too. It is truly disgusting that a business would not only want to rip people off for hundreds of dollars for something a puppy DOESN'T HAVE... but to also be okay morally to pump a puppy with different antibiotics for absolutely no reason. I've shared my story on social media and I have already had 2 friends say a very similar situation happened to them as well and they've since gone to other vets. If you want an honest vet who cares about your fur babies, please go elsewhere!!! read more

Unless you have an absolute emergency avoid this place at all costs. They'll try to prescribe as many medications as they can to get your bill extremely high. I have been here 3 times and the bill was always over $500 for minor things. I went this past Tuesday and I said I would never return again. I brought my dog in because he was having irritation with his ears. After the exam the Dr said he didn't see any major concerns other than some redness and irritation yet he tried to prescribe about 4 antibiotic injections, 2 or 3 pills to take home and about 3 topical treatments. The cost was over $1,200. What?! If he didn't know what was wrong why prescribe so many medications? I told them no thank you, paid the exam fee and took my dog to VCA. It turned out to be a yeast infection in one of his ears. VCA did his exam, tested the wax in his ears, treated the infection and prescribed a topical cream for at home. The cost was less than $200. Again do not go to French Valley Vet unless you're desperate or have money to blow. The 2 stars are only for their timeliness and availability to get you a quick appointment. read more

He had his surgery yesterday and a check up this morning. I'm forever grateful they got him successfully through surgery. He's on Life long meds now but I still have more time with my best friend. The staff here are really kind and attentive. They were very accommodating, to give my dog & I, a next-day appointment. They took good care of my pup. The only critique is that they are pricey. I have a newborn and my dog had a really bad UTI. I needed to care for my fur baby, so for peace of mind and convenience,I paid it. Again, I really liked my experience at this vet. I took my dog to this place and talked with the Vet. My dog has an eye issue and we gave him over the counter medicine to help him, but now we think it's an eye infection. The vet wants to charge $600+ to treat the dog. Exams, shots, visits, a few other items. They wanted to sedate him also. I did see another person who posted a detailed invoice and man, where they right. This place is a total SCAM. All I need is for the doctor to prescribe antibiotics if he has an infection. there are parts of this practice that i am so thankful for and other parts that i think could be improved. for the parts that i love and that falls on their care and recommendations; they are incredible. we have brought multiple dogs there in different health states/ages/phases and i feel like their care recommendations are always presented as a range and they are always willing to have honest conversations about what's truly necessary and what is extra. i've never felt guilted into making a decision that was beyond my financial comfort level or made to feel like i wasn't a good owner for not doing every recommendation. for the parts that make it a four star review; the first is the cost of their maintenance care. i unfortunately have to take my dog in fairly regularly for anal gland expression and nail trimming. at our previous vet, it was $30 for each visit. if i can remember correctly, it is over twice that here. i will continue to take my dog in i just wish it was less. i don't know how much other grooming/care items are but to me, something that takes maybe 10-15 minutes, that seems steep. the other item is purely aesthetic. it just feels/looks older and not updated. i know this is something i am aware of anywhere i go so it doesn't hold a ton of weight for me since it doesn't impact the care provided to my pets. it is just something i've noticed. overall, kind and caring staff, a doctor that is compassionate and provides thorough recommendations but is reasonable. read more

I have been coming to Dr. Rusty's for the past 27 years for all my pet needs. Dr. Rusty saved the life of my Rhodesian Ridgeback when in the middle of the night she started having severe problems breathing and was given emergency care right there and then. Forward to last month, my Wolfhound X, got bit by a snake and because I waited too long to bring him in for treatment, he was already in a pretty critical state. Roger spent the night and received excellent car. Once more, one of my dogs was saved by Dr. Rusty. You cannot test incontinence from urine. I told him that directly and he still wanted to charge me extra money that was not necessary. I feel like a checkbook not a patience. Beware, he will upcharge you at every turn he can. He tried to charge me $410 and I went to Butterfield Veterinarian and they only charged me 200. That's crazy right!?! read more
