What a great little find! We were walking around looking for someplace to eat and found Frenchie. I'm glad we did! We were greeted by two friendly staff. We didn't have a reservation but they were able to seat us by a window in the back...the view wasn't great if you looked into the restaurant's messy yard. But we were glad to get seated. And the little room we were in was cozy. The service was attentive without getting on our nerves. The server had a great sense of humor and was knowledgeable about the menu. We each got the French Onion Soup. It was by far the best I've ever had! It wasn't salty. It had lots of cheese and the broth was rich and flavorful. I'd actually go back just for the soup! We shared the arugula salad. I forgot to take a picture but it was great. The salad was large so sharing was easy. It was interesting: arugula, blueberries, roasted peaches, pomegranate and feta. I really enjoyed it. I love Prosecco but was disappointed. The bottle must have been opened for a while because the wine wasn't quite bubbly enough. But it wasn't flat so no reason to send it back. Went here on a Tuesday night for a Galentine's dinner and it was so sweet! It was not busy (we went on a week night), our waiter was attentive and service was well timed. My sisters started with the tuna tartare which they said was great and a good portion. One sister had the half chicken which she said was superb, especially the mashed potatoes. My other sister had a salad with halibut which she enjoyed. I had the vegan bowl which was phenomenal -- wonderfully spiced, depth of flavor, such a treat to have a vegan dish that is thoughtfully put together! My sisters finished with the Nutella mousse, delightful presentation. I had a latte that was divine as well! This would be a great date night spot but was perfect for a girls dinner. Frenchie is a great spot for brunch. They have a good cocktail and wine menu all the time but the I think for a full meal brunch is the best time to come. The variety was great in terms of both sweet and savory options. The parfait is huge and the sides were substantial as well. I got the salmon tartare and for a pretty standard dish it had a really unique and delicious twist adding both capers and strawberry to a generous serving of salmon. It was delicious. The restaurant is very cute and cozy. Just keep in mind that means it's a little cramped; not ideal if you are looking for privacy or quiet. OK this place is a tragedy. Simply the worst place I've eaten in Boston in a decade, and I'm a foodie, home chef, and food enthusiast. Their French onion soup is broth, a slice of a baguette, and two deli slices (yep) of domestic Swiss cheese. The worst I ever had. There are literally 5 small strands of onion in it. Tasteless crap. The lamb chops are essentially uncooked fat, and the sauce features an unusual amount of sugar, and minced garlic from a jar. The croquettes were dense and lacking as well. You're better off grabbing a jar of Pringles a 7-11. That's all. It really sucks. D- read more

I was able to snag a Saturday brunch reservation here - and I highly recommend getting a reservation in advance if you plan on coming here on a weekend because it gets packed! This little restaurant is in the South End, in a great location easily accessible by public transit. I loved the vibe and aesthetics of this place, especially the greenhouse dining area (which unfortunately we didn't get to sit in). We sat near the front of the restaurant, and even inside the restaurant it was packed FULL! Each table is positioned right next to each other, which made it feel very loud and overwhelming at times. If you're looking for something peaceful and quiet, I'd recommend visiting at a different time. After much deliberation, I ordered their Ham White Truffle Croque Monsieur with an egg on top. The food was incredible and cooked to perfection. The sandwich was perfectly crispy, gooey, sweet, and savory all in one. The fries were also exactly how I like them! The host was kind enough to grant our request to sit in the green house patio, which is absolutely gorgeous and romantic. The wait staff was attentive and quickly took our orders. We ordered the charcuterie board for an appetizer and the salmon as a shared entree. For dessert we ordered the olive oil cake. Wow. The appetizer was packed with quality cold cuts, cheese, and spreads. The salmon was cooked to perfection and finished with brown rice and veggies. Finally got this one off the bucket list! I was so happy to find out there's an attached greenhouse in the back to dine in! I came here for the "afternoon tea" and decided to try the pan-seared foie gras with brussel sprouts. The brioche beneath the foie gras was fluffy and flavorful. In addition, the sourness of berries completely cover the greasy flavor of the liver. Lovely! It was just a pity that the potion was a little bit cute considering the price. Stopped in for brunch with reservation for 12:15 pm on New Year's Day with no wait even though the place was pretty busy. We were able to park a couple of blocks away without too much trouble. The coffee was very good, on the dark roast side which I really enjoy. The sugar comes in a tin that looks neat but may not be sanitary? The ambiance is pretty cool and french-ish looking. The waitress was friendly and good about the water refills and okay with the coffee refills. I had a standard breakfast of two eggs over easy with ham toast and potatoes. The star of the meal was the potatoes, they were hot and crispy- just wish there was more of them. The toast was okay and the eggs were good. Other folks in my group had the duck con fit hash with poached egg- very good. Someone else had pretty much a grilled cheese with ham which they enjoyed, and someone else had eggs Benedict with a croissant. Everyone was happy with their meals. Unfortunately, they ran out of the buns for the burgers, so we had to get it with brioche bread which wasn't very good. But both the patties were excellent. I visited for brunch, and was delighted with the experience! If you've ever wanted to feel like a cast member from Gossip Girl, come to Frenchie. You'll love it. Frenchie serves brunch to hungry Bostonians every Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM to 3 PM. I HIGHLY recommend booking a brunch reservation through OpenTable, because as I mentioned before, the restaurant is pretty small, and if you don't make a reservation, you'll probably have to wait. And do you really want to watch other people chowing down on Nutella crepes while you wait off in a corner? Didn't think so. Try to sit out in the Greenhouse Room, which is surrounded by glass and overlooks a few brick building facades and a small garden. I got the Smoked Salmon Toast, which arrived chilled and crisp, topped with incredibly fresh tasting salmon, creamy creme fraiche spread, and pickled shallots, which gave the dish a nice bite and kept it from feeling too heavy. I also got a side of poached eggs, which were perfectly prepared. You rarely see restaurants nowadays offering poached eggs for brunch, and it was wonderful to get them at Frenchie. They carry my favorite tea brand, Harney and Sons, here, and I was very happy to have a personal teapot full of hot French Earl Grey tea to sip on while I ate. It was a very civilized brunch, and a fun experience overall! However, if you want to brunch like Blair Waldorf, you have to be prepared to pay Blair Waldorf prices. The Smoked Salmon Toast, while very delicious, was a small portion for the $12 price tag, and the poached eggs had to be ordered a la carte. I've sworn off writing on Yelp because yelp decided to remove (they say I violated something which I didn't and there's no recourse with them) my status (if that's such a thing) of Elite. At first, I loved Frenchie Wine Bistro and then I hated it and will never return but for others, I am leaving a 5 star review because it was kinda worth the 5 stars. New Year's Eve dinner for 3, bottle of Vueve Cliquot which was warm so it needed 10 minutes to chill, no big deal. Our waiter, Frank, was awesome. He came back with it, tried to open it but it bubbled, still warm. A little while later we started to enjoy our Champagne. The prix fixe menu was perfect, great choices and the three of us at the table all chose different items for all the courses. Very nice and well thought out. Love the food. Where did they go wrong? ? The add on percentage for the kitchen staff. I don't care if it's 3% or a straight fee, it's not my choice, like ordering the food on the menu is, like ordering a bottle of champagne is, like the percentage I tip the waiter (which is always generous) but it's not my choice. It just appears on the bill. Welcome to 2023 here's a surcharge, a tax an involuntary option for you in the new year! Yes, I am pretty sure I could have spoken to a manger on the holiday night of New Years Eve and had it removed. I am sure it's something people do and maybe they remove it but I've decided , much like hotels that charge a nightly resort fee, that I will not return. No matter how great the food was, the service or the warm bottle of champagne I just can't do it. There's plenty of other epic places to dine and stay. I can't find it even mentioned on their website which I've perused extensively. Totally loved my experience there! Small place from the outside, but come on in and be surprise by the setting inside! Staff very friendly. Met the manager, Elaine who was super nice! Our server Xena was great! We thought the food would have taken some time to come out but surprise surprise, in less than 10 minutes we were eating! The food was AMAZING!!! I came here around 430pm on a weekday with a friend and was looking forward to grabbing an early dinner before heading home to my little one--turns out they don't serve hot food until 5pm! Good to know, however, there was some confusion between their staff whether they served entrees or not (the menu is separated into cold, hot and entree) and we weren't informed until we sat down and ordered a glass of wine already. Otherwise, we may have gone elsewhere to get a real dinner. Ended up eating a dinner of basically tartare (not really complaining though). Not a huge deal but would have appreciated a heads up before ordering. The food itself was tasty small bites, that complimented their wine nicely. Atmosphere aside, the food itself was pretty good and the prices were reasonable for the location in the city. Our server was super sweet (making recommendations, taking photos for us, and checking in on us but not making us feel too rushed) so I would say the service is a 5/5 for us!
