After a long day of enjoying the Sail Boston event, and touring the Charleston Navy yard we went in search of a friendly and tasty restaurant. And in the tranquil setting of the park.. we found this precious gem. We don't have a reservation, but still we're taken to a table and we checked the menu. I had the yellowfin tuna tartare. The toasted and spiced chickpeas gave a pleasant contrast to the creamy and fresh tartare, and the toasted pita bread was and wonderful platform for each bite. Then the lobster roll came. The fresh brioche, generous tail, knuckle and claw meat, and a bright Maine mixture served by friendly and observant staff. The food was tasty, the staff was friendly and paid true attention to make sure of any allergen was not in my meal. Also with dining inside or outside in a lively quiet setting you can't go wrong! Came for lunch but experienced slow service, an incorrect order, and sold out beer options. Prices seem expensive ($48 for a sandwich, chowder and a beer). This is the place to get a reservation when you come to see the Tall Ships in the Charlestown Navy Yard this summer! Had the tuna tartare, halibut, and guest had the chicken Milanese. The tuna came with tostada (tortilla), which was delicious ( may want to pair this with an entree, if you have an appetite). The halibut was moist, not overcooked, served on a cauliflower purée. Friend's Chicken Milanese was so-so, as the bread was burned and hard to bite into. Dessert was the cookie plate, with three warmed chocolate chip cookies sprinkled with sea salt on top. Save room! Reasonably priced seafood, modern ambiance, and overall a great meal! We came here with a reservation for two on a weeknight, but honestly, the place wasn't busy so I assume we easily could've walked in. The menu is simple and to the point with a variety of dishes. We got the bread which was fantastic, the mussels, and I got a lobster roll which was very solid. I loved the flavor of all the dishes and the portions were a bit small, but overall reasonable. We had a delicious dinner here the other night! Booking a reservation was easy - done via opentable online. For those that know the area, this restaurant is located where the old Navy Yard Bistro used to be. While we went over the winter, we couldn't enjoy the outdoor patio but from the looks of it, it seemed really cute -- a big area outside with lights. Definitely will be back in the spring/summer to check it out! The food, drinks and service were top notch. Especially the drinks... my friend and I opted for a spicy cocktail (I think the name was Dirty Dove) and it was beyond delicious. Our waiter was really friendly, enthusiastic and well versed in the menu/offerings -- he gave us a lot of great recommendations. We also enjoyed a few apps, entrees and dessert. I came to this restaurant for a quick lunch. Located in Charlestown, the place was surprisingly empty despite a warm, cozy, colonial decor. The setting is dark, with exposed brick, wooden beams which gives the impression of a place to get a craft beer from 1786. Perhaps the weather impacted street traffic and customers - it was ZERO degrees. Nevertheless, I was choosing small dishes. The menu is spectacular in that it is perfectly divided in small plates, shareable, sides and entrees. Sometimes menus have a lot of choices and it's hard to focus. I need to eat healthily so I zeroed in on the La Super Frenchy salad, which was $15 and the Lentil soup. I wanted the La Super Frenchy salad but wanted to add a protein. I was told I could add chicken but they would charge me the price of an entree, the Chicken Milanese, which was $34. Even though I was being treated, it didn't seem reasonable to pay $19 for a grilled chicken, so I changed my order to the Tuna Tartare, which was $20. My friend ordered the salad and I had some. The tuna tartare was lemony, had a nice serving of avocado hidden underneath and the sesame seed and jalapeños gave it a smoky, crunchy texture. It was delicious and it made me wonder how I could replicate this dish at home. The salad had healthy ingredients that added to the flavor of the dressing and all the ingredients made me feel like I was having a much larger meal. The small plates sizes were appropriate for the pricing and I felt satisfied with the two dishes. If I was in this area again, I would definitely return here and try an entree. I don't think this is where bank robbers from Charlestown go after a big score. Then again maybe they do... It's a little pricey. But not ridiculous. Everything's expensive now. Pasta dishes ranged from $24 to $42, though the expensive ones had lobster. I tried a couple of appetizers including the focaccia bread which was excellent, had a few beers, tried the very strong Dean's beans coffee, and the chocolate chip cookies. Went with a large party for dinner and they were very responsive in helping us confirm our reservation, which needed to be done over email instead of OpenTable. The ambiance was very cozy yet spacious, with warm-toned wooden tables and chairs and soft lighting. However, service was extremely slow. After delivering our first orders for drinks and small plates, our waitress did not come back for our entree orders until we flagged her down. The same happened when we asked for the check. The food itself came out in a timely manner, but the portion size on my scallop dish was disproportionately small for the price. At $40, the dish only had 3 scallops, so I left dinner hungry. We had a set menu of 3 main dishes, which were good but but did not impress. The cacio e Pepe bigoli was very Al dente (maybe on purpose, could be personal preference) and not very cheesy, the halibut was better but the vegetables lacked salt, and the plates had differing amounts of mushrooms/potatoes. The focaccia was dry, like it was left in the oven too long while reheating. We ordered the cacio e pepe, the duck special and snapper. Both the snapper and duck were very good. The Cacio e Pepe was an appetizer portion and needed more sauce as it was dry. This was not a total fail but I've had much better. I really like this spot. The food is delicious and the ambiance is great. They have a nice wine selection and the prices are reasonable. We found on street parking quite close by. For a nice treat you can stroll around near the USS Constitution after dinner. I would give it 5 stars for sure except for one slightly odd thing. . No desserts and no after dinner coffees. A couple of friends and I literally just stumbled on this place while looking for somewhere to eat close to the USS Constitution. They have a lovely outdoor seating area. We came in around 1130 on a Saturday morning during brunch and were seated immediately. Our server was an absolute gem, very attentive and kind. The arugula salad was fresh, plentiful, perfectly dressed, and delicious. My friend had a bagel side with chive cream cheese -- everything was incredibly fresh. Perfection in every plate. The shop is great for picking up food for dinner (meatballs and bolognaise are favorites) and snacks (whipped cheese dips, olives and homemade chips are top for us). I also love that there is a well-curated selection of wine and beer. I've ordered platters (cheese, charcuterie and all the sides) for events and they are wonderful and well thought out. The restaurant is cozy and beautiful. The food is delish and the service is even better. The staff will answer every question and they always have good ideas and honest opinions.
