Food was way too expensive for its price 49 bucks for a tiny steak outsized by the salad and fries next to it Now it was good, all the food was good, just not impressive and the price certainly hurt Taste 8/10 Price 2/10 Service was great, weird no ice in my water in a hot as hell summer day... No complimentary bread or chips or anything really, just lukewarm tap water Service 8/10 Overall experience shattered by the abysmal price, but if money doesn't matter than it was fine nothing that blew me away but definitely Above average taste, I personally cannot stomach such a cost

Reasonably priced seafood, modern ambiance, and overall a great meal! We came here with a reservation for two on a weeknight, but honestly, the place wasn't busy so I assume we easily could've walked in. The menu is simple and to the point with a variety of dishes. We got the bread which was fantastic, the mussels, and I got a lobster roll which was very solid. I loved the flavor of all the dishes and the portions were a bit small, but overall reasonable. Overall, solid dinner and I would be happy to return to try their other dishes. Thanks, Dovetail!

Yellowfin Tuna Tartare. Sorry - I took a bite already.

I came to this restaurant for a quick lunch. Located in Charlestown, the place was surprisingly empty despite a warm, cozy, colonial decor. The setting is dark, with exposed brick, wooden beams which gives the impression of a place to get a craft beer from 1786. Perhaps the weather impacted street traffic and customers - it was ZERO degrees. Nevertheless, I was choosing small dishes. The menu is spectacular in that it is perfectly divided in small plates, shareable, sides and entrees. Sometimes menus have a lot of choices and it's hard to focus. I need to eat healthily so I zeroed in on the La Super Frenchy salad, which was $15 and the Lentil soup. I wanted the La Super Frenchy salad but wanted to add a protein. I was told I could add chicken but they would charge me the price of an entree, the Chicken Milanese, which was $34. Even though I was being treated, it didn't seem reasonable to pay $19 for a grilled chicken, so I changed my order to the Tuna Tartare, which was $20. My friend ordered the salad and I had some. The tuna tartare was lemony, had a nice serving of avocado hidden underneath and the sesame seed and jalapeños gave it a smoky, crunchy texture. It was delicious and it made me wonder how I could replicate this dish at home. The salad had healthy ingredients that added to the flavor of the dressing and all the ingredients made me feel like I was having a much larger meal. The small plates sizes were appropriate for the pricing and I felt satisfied with the two dishes. If I was in this area again, I would definitely return here and try an entree. I am positive it would be delicious and satisfying.

We recently visited Dovetail in Charlestown, and it exceeded expectations! The cavatelli pasta was particularly delicious . Each dish felt crafted with care: sauces balanced, ingredients fresh, textures spot on. If you love handmade pasta, this is a destination -- comfort food elevated, not overdone. For dessert we had the affogato and chocolate chunk cookies which were delicious and the perfect pair. Service, ambiance, food: all worked in harmony. Whether you want somewhere casual to unwind, or a place that still offers excellent food and a thoughtful touch, Dovetail delivers. Highly recommend -- especially if you're looking for that mix of comfort + sophistication.

Fantastic. Great outdoor seating. Pleasant and accommodating staff and the food was fabulous. Delicious Mimosa and my meal of Summer Veggie Caponata was sublime.

A Charlestown Navy Yard restaurant & shop, Dovetail delivers a casual, industrial-style venue with a raw bar, a brunch menu, handmade pasta and prime cut steaks. A wonderful hidden gem & an absolute must try in the Charlestown area. Perfect for a casual date night followed by walks near the navy yard. From the exquisite food, to the lovely ambiance, and the great service, Dovetail has it all together. And now.... The food Raw Oysters Daily selection served with lemon, mignonette Yellowfin Tuna Crudo Absolutely amazing. Fresh & delicious tuna served with watermelon aguachile, chili crisp, fresnos, cilantro served over a warm tostada Prime Grade Steak Frites A beautiful 8oz prime sirloin served with house-made fries, chimichurri & a watercress salad

What a hidden gem!! Honestly loved everything about this place from the small but delicious menu, the friendly service and the amazing food - the breakfast burrito was a special when we went and tasted super fresh and high quality ingredients. The ambiance was super cool, with vibey music and the brick wall creating a perfect atmosphere for a winter morning.

Went with a large party for dinner and they were very responsive in helping us confirm our reservation, which needed to be done over email instead of OpenTable. The ambiance was very cozy yet spacious, with warm-toned wooden tables and chairs and soft lighting. However, service was extremely slow. After delivering our first orders for drinks and small plates, our waitress did not come back for our entree orders until we flagged her down. The same happened when we asked for the check. The food itself came out in a timely manner, but the portion size on my scallop dish was disproportionately small for the price. At $40, the dish only had 3 scallops, so I left dinner hungry. My other dining companions had better experiences with the lobster roll and pasta dishes, so I would suggest getting those instead. Ambiance 5/5 Service 3/5 Food taste and execution 4/5 Portion size 1/5 Overall 3/5

Lobster roll was a 10/10, house chips were a great paring. Chicken Parm sandwich was also delicious and Dovetail has great homemade fries.

Found this little spot after visiting the USS Constitution, and it did not disappoint. Food and service were great. We sat outside but the inside was nice and clean too. The location allows for a more intimate setting away from the busy streets. Great cocktails and every Friday our waiter said they do some version of a chicken sandwich.

Dovetail is just the best!!! Favorite neighborhood gem. It's so cozy and has the best menu.

Really can't say anything bad about this place. Great selection of wines, quality service, cozy and modern ambiance. Everything was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The apps were more creative than the main courses - so I'll be happy to focus on those when I come back.

Came here for a work dinner with a large party (over 20 people). Even considering this, service was great! Drinks and food were brought out very quickly and all requests were attended to. We had a set menu of 3 main dishes, which were good but but did not impress. The cacio e Pepe bigoli was very Al dente (maybe on purpose, could be personal preference) and not very cheesy, the halibut was better but the vegetables lacked salt, and the plates had differing amounts of mushrooms/potatoes. The half chicken dish was the best of the three. However, I personally I loved the muhammara and foccacia appetizers! Nevertheless I would come back to try their other dishes!

If you're in the Boston area, I would consider it a sin NOT to try Bricco's Salumeria. Not joking when I say that my favorite bite experienced during my entire trip to Massachusetts, came from one of the focaccia sandwiches I ordered from Bricco's. I have already made it a point in my mind to hit this spot in the North End of Boston any and EVERY-time I find myself in the Boston area. It truly is an Italian staple and a Boston Classic! The bakery is cash only and sells a variety of breads: baguettes, ciabatta, sourdough, & olive bread. In addition to the sfogliatelle, they sell muffins, croissants, and focaccia and muffins. The sfogliatelle was pretty good, the pastry was crispy and flaky and the lemon ricotta filling was very rich and creamy. I would've loved to have a couple loaves of the bread, but there was no way I was going to be able to bring it home as I was already maxed out with my carry ons!
