Lunch mid- week at this pub that we've visited before. It's a simple setting: a bar populated by regulars who make Frenchman's their home away from home, a few TVs, and a scratch off booth that does a pretty brisk business. This is NOT a dark joint. It's bright and tables/floors are clean. Restrooms are ancient but painted while providing standing room for one person only. Try to "go" before you go to Frenchman's. Burgers are the backbone of the reasonably priced menu and periodic special offers are a popular choice. I had a Dill Burger (see photo)...fried, sliced, dill pickles and a dill sauce over what appeared to be a hand- formed burger. The server never asked about pink/no pink etc. and ours came out "no pink." The standard is a side of chips...house made would be a great difference. Service is just OK...the bartender was fairly busy with the regulars at the bar and never stopped by until we were ready to leave. Same with the tables around us. If you're looking for a new spot to hide out for lunch offered at a good price, Frenchman's might work for you. Enjoy it. read more

Classic dive bar in Richfield. The place is crowded with locals virtually all the time. And why not, great food and cheap beer, it's a good combination. They have a good menu with sandwiches, chicken wings and other pub food. Lots of happy hour appetizers too. Their burgers are great. They have about eight different versions and a burger of the month. I had the cheeseburger which was delicious. Beer on tap is unbelievably cheap and you can get pitchers. GROSSLY OVER CHARGED. It's great to have a locally owned and reasonably priced place ... Or I thought. Been going here randomly for 10+ years. Always had a decent to great experience. But last night... that all changed: the three of us met roughly at 4:00. We had 4 beers and 3 drinks when the server/bartender came over and said a shift change was taking place. We said lets close and start over. Cool $29 tab paid. We asked the next server/bartender for another round. I had the cocktail, this one was a lot weaker than the previous. So, I went up to the bar and asked for a double. There was a fire in the ashtray outside that they needed to care of so she said she'd bring it over. 5-7 minutes later - delivered. No big deal. But this one tasted just as weak, but being cautious, I times my beverages with one of the beer drinkers. Beer drinker got his second with this server at the same time as the the first double delivery. We hadn't each seen other in awhile and were having a great time together, and each had another couple after. (third guy is over 70 and had a total of four total.....) Anyhow, we finished up and asked for the tab. My time to pay- I looked at the time and thought $44.xx seemed light. But put up $100 bill. Server picked it up and swung through dropping off $1 in change. Obviously puzzled, I flagged her down and said I think there's confusion- I gave you a hundred? She snapped back your tab was $99. We all stopped and said what? She just walked by. I was too disgusted after that, and was just going to leave. But my friend said, "that's not right-Im going to go talk to her." He came back and said, "All she said is that's what I poured", and walked on by. No discussion willing to be had. We did not drink 3 times as much. Actually, one drink less than double is what was had. (IF I drank as much as she claimed I couldn't stand up.) I guess it's not that great to have a locally owner/run joint. read more

I was here with a large party and the service was excellent. I ordered a veggie burger and the server made sure if I was vegan or not. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The ambience was pretty much a bar. If you just wanted water to drink, they had a carafe where you served yourself. The perfect neighborhood bar to hangout with friends and grab a burger. I visited on a Friday evening and it was about as busy as your would expect a local bar to be. There is only about 6-7 bar seats to belly up to but I was able to snag one. Aside from that you will find a dozen or so table to sit at. The bartender was super friendly and made time to chat and joke around while still being on top of taking food and drink orders. According to the menu, they have been famous for their burgers since 1933 so I ordered a burger. The California double, added bacon and ghost pepper cheese. This burger was AMAZING. Two huge patties cooked to a perfect medium stacked high with fresh lettuce and tomato. Honesty one of the better bar burgers I've ever had. I absolutely loved my experience and ended up hanging out a little later then expected because of the great staff and patrons. read more

TOTAL working neighborhood dive bar, spotty table service and a fun, surely staff. STIFF drinks. Cold tap beer with a good selection. Pull tabs. Gotta love it! Burgers are absolutely fantastic. Fresh meat, hand pattied, great bakery fresh buns (from a local bakery). Fries are included with a basket and are always perfection. This may be a dive bar but they keep that fryer grease perfect. You cannot go wrong getting a burger basket. Other menu items are mostly Sysco quality, so stick to the burgers. Order with raw or cooked onions if that's your thing. Try their rotating 'burger of the month' if you want something different. Tip your servers and they will remember you next time. Don't tip them and they'll remember you next time, but that might not be a good thing. read more

Was there on Sun 12-14-25 Haven't been there in 10 years. It was definitely cleaned up and cute! Fun with the festive lights! Met 2 of my friends for lunch. The waitress who is tall, skinny with long brown hair had an attitude with us from the start? Orders were placed, I ordered a pizza and a water, she looked at me with a strong attitude against my water... lol. Pizza came out, crust was done, cheese was melted but the inside was lukewarm... especially the mushrooms. I didn't say anything because I was going to take most of it home anyway and re heat in air fryer.... I went up to bar and asked for Parmesan cheese and red peppers.... She finally brought it after 20 min..... my friends asked for a refill on their soda and had to ask again and finally she brought it. Ok ~ so this is when it gets weirder! She brings us the tab and of course it was all on one. We asked her to separate to individual checks. She gets mad! No we don't do that here! Well we didn't know that, usually the waitress/waiter asks if we're on separate tabs? She tells us it's written all over the place!! We looked all over the place! Then saw it on one side of the napkin holder????? Then she comes back to our table... ok I'll separate this tab today but if you ever come back again, this will never happen again. Hmmmm That's an interesting comment to paying friendly customers! My friends each tipped $3.00 and just wanted to leave, I didn't even tip, she was so rude and pizza wasn't done, poor service, I drew a line through the tip line..... just paid for the pizza. lol I get my statement and SHE added $5.00 on my card!!! The food was fantastic. But I tried to call and place an order over the phone to pick up as I was working a double at work and there was no coverage for me to come in. The woman who answered the phone and said the " system was too busy" to do that right now. That meant I had to leave my coworker at work alone to go in person. When I arrived, there were only about 10 cars in the parking lot and the place wasn't even half full. I placed my order that would've taken her 30 seconds to receive over the phone paid for it and said I'd be back in 10 minutes. The gentleman who was cooking the food, brought the food out and handed it to me and was very pleasant. The woman however, seemed to have an attitude the whole time. I have been coming to Frenchman's since I was a baby .. literally.. I have pictures of me in my car seat on the table ha that being said I may be biased . I want to start out with saying , I have read a lot of reviews and the main issue is SERVICE , I understand this , but this is a small "hole" in the wall bar and they do their best . Usually only two people working. I always grab a menu right when I walk in, they are located on the wall by the mens bathroom . PRO tip walk up to the bar and order , it makes everyone's life easier ... and frankly isn't hard ... Now to the food . I crave Frenchman's weekly and I usually make weekly happen . The FRIES are my favorite almost anywhere, make them even better by asking for them extra crispy . I have had almost everything on the menu. My go to is the ghost pepper burger add onions and mushrooms . The burgers are just classic and never disappoint, you can't go wrong with any of them . They started a new burger of the month, and that's what I had last week . It had chihuahua cheese , hatch chili jam and grilled jalapeño . Lots of heat here , but soooo much flavor . I will be sad I can't get it again , but looking forward to the next BOTM The battered mushrooms are to die for. The cowboy balls (sweet corn , bacon , jalapeño and cream cheese in a light battered ball ) also better extra crispy , but seriously so yummy . Another perk of Frenchman's is cheap drinks and overall their prices are low and the food is GREAT . I always get a pitcher of Coors light and I am a happy camper . My friend bought us each two beers and I noticed one of the beers she brought back to the table was NA. My suggestion is to pay attention to your order. This place used to be a wonderful hidden gem dive bar then around 2017 it started to get popular with the hipster crowd and since then it slowly has gone downhill. Back in 2017 they had three pool tables, good food, packed every night, and fun place to hang out. As time went on they went from three pool tables to two, to one, and now zero pool tables. I'll never understand the businesses thinking since the pool tables stayed busy and people would come to play pool then spend money on booze and their delicious burgers and the tables were busy all night. So now in 2023 they have zero pool tables, the hipster crowd has diminished, some long time bartenders have left, regulars that came to play pool don't visit anymore, and they are on the decline. Sad since I really used to like this place but now drive past it and won't be back (unless they get pool tables again). Seriously, what kind of dive bar doesn't have a pool table? read more

Went there on Jan 1, 2023 to watch the Vikings v Packers game My friend went to the bathroom and was harassed upon coming out by a group seated near the bathroom because "he took too long". This group was ushering derogatory and homophobic comments at him. We tried to be cordial and diffuse the situation by walking back to our table. The manager then came up to us and asked us what had happened. We explained the situation and he said "It might be best for you all to leave". Food was also awful. We asked for a side of buffalo sauce and the server said "I only give out one each, because I have to handmade every buffalo sauce" lol If you're looking for a place with nice people, good food and good environment. I've been going to Frenchman's since I was a little kid and I don't think a thing has changed since. The food is all good, though 95% of it is fried. For appetizers, the deep fried mushrooms and cheese curds are fab favorites. For your meal, it's all about the burgers. Fries are fresh and crispy. We had a group of 4 and spent $41. An app, 7 drinks, and 4 meals. WOW. Totally divey and a very local/regular crowd, but perfect spot for a laid back burger night. read more

I've had a very strange experience with Frenchman's in the past few months. Two nights ago, I was "banished" from the establishment. I was overcharged last week $20 and came in to complain about it and was told by the bartender that she would message management (management is Christine Blank and her daughter-in-law is Trish who manages the day-to-day). I returned 2 days ago and was told that I had to figure out the overbilling on my own and was no longer welcome there. That sucked but then I turn and a patron said "I got a text about you today!" and he proceeded to threaten to throw me out. I thought he was joking (I've been there 100 times over the past 9 years) but he grabbed me by the shirt and if I hadn't marched out, I was pretty confident I was going to lose my front teeth. This is insane. This establishment is run by a bunch of idiots. I'll be telling this story over and over and over again because not only was it not fair or right - but I almost got beat up over it. WHO would have texted a patron (whom I'd never met) to threaten me bodily harm? Crazy. I assume banishment should take place if a patron is drunk and verbally or physically abusive, but I can assure you, that hasn't happened and I don't overindulge. I complained one time too many when they basically stole from me and here I am today complaining. Not only this but on more than one occasion, they have let a minority bartender go over their groundless management style. Currently, there are only a bunch of white employees. Scotty didn't want to accept my money because I had a card. His 50 cent service fee meant more than treating his customers, my coworker paid before and then it was my turn we had to many cards. I guess a dollar for the 100$ we paid I couldn't pay my own. He was more worried about the 50 cents for the card then his customers wishes.
