I ordered a cheeseburger. I had to give it back twice. First it was cold and then it was really salty. Our server was slow and the restaurant is really old and dingy.

I have been to other 5-8 locations, but never to the original. Finally got to check out the OG. The menu seems to be the same across locations, so you definitely get consistency and no real surprises. I had a mushroom swiss burger with onion rings the day I went. Burger was fine, but was slightly disappointed that the onion rings were a little dry, like they were slightly over-fried. Service was fast and friendly. If you're looking for a Minnesota staple Jucy Lucy, you'll also find that here.

On our quest to find the "best juicy Lucy" in the twin cities, we stop at the 5-8 club. We had previously tried Matt's bar and The nook. There is a known friendly rivalry between Matts and this place, so we were excited to try! We left unbelievably disappointed. There is a small parking lot but most of your parking will be free in the surrounding neighborhoods. Walking in, this place had a very "untouched" vibe which made it feel old school and cool! The "host"(if we can even call him that) asked if we wanted a booth or table. We said either was fine and he just pointed to an open booth and then walked away.... Not very friendly at all. We sat down and our waitress came fairly quickly. She was friendly and we ordered 2 burgers to share. We did an original American cheese juicy Lucy and the Gcb. The fries are definitely from the freezer, lacked flavor and just weren't good. The onion rings were also freezer and had a thick crust on them, very little onion. They also came out cool. Like may be they had been sitting for a while? The juicy Lucy was a joke! Where is the cheese! When the server dropped the burgers off, we noticed how she didn't give us a warning about "Molten cheese" like the other 2 places did. Now we know why, because there was basically no cheese! The Gcb had very little flavor. Why call it garlic if there is very little garlic flavor? And the size!? Where is the burger!?! It was so tiny!! When we went to leave, the host looked at us and then turned and walked away. No "thanks for coming" or anything. I am giving this place 2 stars for the decor and the nice waitress. I can officially say Matt's bar is WAY better than this place! Between the poor host and below average food, we will not be back.

The place has a nice old tavern vibe. The classic decor surely brings you back in time for sure. I got the classic Juicy Lucy with Amablu Bleu Cheese and the wife got The Saucy Sally. The Juicy Lucy was crispy with carmelized onions and a hot melted center oozing the Bleu Cheese is definitely unique. I got to try my wife's Saucy Sally, her burger was great, the shredded lettuce, perfectly cooked medium patty, onions, American cheese paired with their secret sauce was amazing. A definite must try. I'm so satisfied the wife and I decided to stop here before we headed off to the airport. A good beer to pair with these burgers would've been a classic IPA. The Foggy Geezer I got was hoppy and definitely too citrusy hazy for the burgers. I can't forget the service, our server was very sweet, quick, informative, and even gave me a 5-8 Club Menu to go.

Stopped here for a drink. The food smelled amazing but we don't eat on this trip. I saw another couples food come out and somewhat regretted not ordering. The don't have a full bar- just beer and a couple seltzers. I think most people come here to eat much more than to drink. The atmosphere is great in my opinion. Laid back, traditional and casual.

First time in Minneapolis and we were told that we had to try the juicy lucy. A burger with the cheese stuffed inside. The 5-8 club was suggested by a few people and it happened to be close to where we were staying so we decided to try this for our first meal in Minneapolis. Looks like a local spot, normal sit down restaurant. Service was great and we felt so anxious with our loud toddler but she made us feel at ease. Decided to go with the juicy lucy roadhouse and the GCB and fried pickles. The fried pickles was a huge portion. They were perfectly fried and the ranch tasted good with it. We looked at our burgers and were ready to feast. We were maybe 2 bites in when our server said our order was mixed up and ended up bringing the correct order. We told her we already touched the burgers and she said she was just going to leave it with us. We had 4 burgers on our table. I had no idea what the other 2 were but at some point, everything started to taste the same. All in all, the food was good. The cheese wasnt overbearing and had the right amount of "ooze" factor when you bit into the burgers. Lots of parking. If you're trying juicy lucy burger for the first time, hit this place up.

I came in here with some friends on a Sunday, after a home Vikings game and it was pretty packed. We were somehow able to snag a seat pretty quickly and promptly order our burgers. I ordered the Steakhouse burger and have no regrets. Now, I've never had Matt's but I was pretty happy with my burger. My friends assured me that the cheese could be meltier, (I agree) and that Matt's cheese was molten lava hot, but the overall taste was 5/5. Burgers are so incredibly personal. We all have that perfect burger dragon we're chasing and can never find. But other than the cheese could have been one degree warmer, I have no real complaint. The fries were good too.

Seated immediately 4pm on a Friday. Great service. Friendly waitress. I had to get the golden deep fried mushrooms to start. These Button mushrooms were perfectly deep fried. Super hot so wait 5 mins before you eat them. The Roadhouse Lucy had bacon, BBQ sauce and an onion ring. This Lucy was oozing with cheese. Patties are sealed and cooked to perfection. Ahhhmazing. The restaurant was hopping and almost full by 5:30. The food is outstanding, hot and fresh and that Blue cheese dressing is my weakness. Small but cozy and they had a nice size bar area with high top tables.

Visited 1/29/26. If at 5-8's, you gotta get the juice lucy. Super busy but my mom and I got a walk up table within 5-10 minutes. Good beer selection with decent prices. Juicy Lucy= top notch, but I will say that you should forego the onion ring upgrade and stick with the fries instead because onion rings were more of a letdown. In general though, love 5-8. Specifically this location always hits the spot

Ok, first of all, this spot had a beautiful, serene old school vibe with tons of pictures of pop culture icons scattered along the walls... including, naturally, an homage to the hometown Minnesota Vikings. The staff was super welcoming and gladly answered all of my questions regarding the different "Juicy Lucy" offerings. Naturally, I went with the PB&J Juicy Lucy, but also had to try the Buffalo Chicken offering. One I had regular fries with and the other delicious sweet potato fries. The burgers were FANTASTIC. I haven't been this happy eating a burger in a long time. BOTH of them satiated two very unique cravings I had and I sincerely hope I can come back again!

We never have juicy Lucy before. It is either going to Matt's bar or here, but it is very kids friendly here. Here I come with my 3 children. The burger is ridiculously juicy, the cheese came up like lava. Juicy Lucy lives up the name, which makes the burger so juicy. I devoured it, lol. Quick service, no wait, kids friendly and fantastic food. How famous are they? I saw cars from Texas, Utah, Oklahoma and Wisconsin. Highly recommended. Ambience: 4/5 Food: 5/5 Price: 5/5 Service: 5/5

Classic Juicy Lucy with bacon and a side of carrots. Untouched JoJos in the background sadly.

In the battle for the claim on the "Original Juicy Lucy", I figured why not try my first one at one of the more popular joints laying claim. Entering the restaurant, it just looked like classic Minnesota in there. Quaint log cabin feel with MN sports paraphernalia in every wall, I felt warmed up even on a summer day. Service was a challenge. While it was crowded, our server stopped to take our order once and that was it, no refills or check-ins. I'm a patient person, but when it is that popular of a place, seems like they should be more prepared. For an app I ordered another MN classic, Jojos, basically potato wedges covered in cheese, bacon, green onions, and sour cream. Unfortunately it took about 40 minutes to come out, and just barely before the burgers, so I would have just cancelled it. The Juicy Lucy was good, with that oozing center I was excited for. However the burger patty was a bit dry and under seasoned surprisingly. I originally ordered carrots rather than fries to offset the carby expected JoJos, but I couldn't get ahold of the waiter to get something to dip them in. They went largely uneaten as well. Overall, I can see the hype, and would definitely have an ooey gooey Juicy Lucy again, but I might try one of the other spots in the burger battle next time.

We were told can't come to MN and not try a Juicy Lucy. Juicy Lucy is a cheese stuffed burger. Now I'm from Buffalo and we have those and some good ones! So of course I had to try. We door dashed our last night, food came quick and was still hot with great packaging. The burger was good, not great, but it was tasty. Definitely on the high end of a craft burger. The onions rings we sooo good! Crunchy and seasoned. We also grabbed a corn dog and the fried cheese curds. They have this dipping sauce, poppas, OMG this sauce is absolutely amazing. It was like a mix between BBQ and Hot sauce, I dipped everything we ordered with it! I'd buy that sauce by the gallons!

The inside is beautiful and made for a really nice dining experience. We started with the Eichten's cheese curds, and they were excellent. They were soft on the inside, some had a great cheese pull, and the spicy dipping sauce paired really well with them. I ordered the Flat Iron Frites. The steak was seasoned well, cooked nicely, and didn't have much fat, which I appreciated. The fries were crispy and came with house-made ketchup. I usually don't even like ketchup, but this one was actually really good. My partner ordered the deviled eggs as his appetizer, and he enjoyed them so much he finished them in no time. For dessert, we had the Strawberry Shortcake Crème Brûlée, and it was fantastic. I've never had crème brûlée like that before. It was a unique twist on a classic dessert and ended the meal perfectly. The only small downside was that the complimentary water tasted clean and fresh. But it was warm instead of cold. Overall, the food, atmosphere, and service made for a great experience, and I'd happily return. Glad i was able to cross this one off of my list.

This place does get busy so definitely keep that in mind. Luckily I made reservations ahead of time so we had a table waiting for us, otherwise we would have been put on a waiting list since it's a small space. They put us in a corner booth which was nice and spacious enough for 4 people so I'd definitely recommend asking for a booth verse a table if you're planning to come with a larger group. The servers are all very friendly and helpful. I appreciated their attentiveness and sharing what they like best, especially for what's in season based on the time of year. The menu has quite a bit of variety too which is sometimes unexpected when you come to a pub-style location. For appetizers we got Onion Ring and Fried Pickles. They were both really good and served with dipping sauces. Definitely both shareable items so if you're in a group they'd be great options! My entree I chose the Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon served with lemon soy marinade, creamy cucumbers, and jasmine rice -- it was SO good!! I loved the creaminess of the cucumbers especially with the rice and than the lemon soy marinade was just a unique touch to the salmon. Toned the flavors down without overpowering acidity. And the salmon was so dreamy, a beautiful pink color that you just knew it wasn't a farm raised salmon. Plus the portion was very generous!! I'd definitely recommend the Alaskan Sockeye Salmon to anyone interested in visiting here. #eatwildsavewild The only negatives (which are more so just knowledge bombs for you): * Restaurant is VERY loud. It's hard to hear because it is one small room that everyone plus the bar is in. I wished I would have took a picture to show what I mean. Just know that if it's an intimate setting you're looking for this is not the place. So be prepared to talk loudly over the loudness and ask "excuse me?" or "repeat that" many times throughout your visit because you're not going to hear everything. * Timed eating. Because this place is a hit with limited seating, once you get a table and complete your meal/payment you'll kindly be asked to leave so that they can clean up and open the table to next in line. Totally get that and am not put off by this at all, but I could see how it could catch some folks off guard especially if you are out for a meal with folks you may not see frequently-- so just keep that in mind. This is not the place to sit and talk post meal. * Parking is limited. Be prepared to walk a few blocks as the road parking in front of the business is pretty limited especially with the other stores and restaurants in the area. Regardless of those few bullets I highly recommend folks visit George & The Dragon. It's a really cool spot and the food was great! Plus theirs a malt shop right next door that looks yummy too, so definitely worth visiting and getting malts after for dessert.

The house was actually a well decorated maze, so it was a puzzle trying to figure out where to go. The actors cannot touch you, but there was a good amount of jump scares. We ended up taking 20-25 minutes to go through the maze. There were also a couple photo opportunities inside.
