The people here seemed so well meaning, but the execution was terrible across the board. Both the waitress and the guy who set us up with a table were absolutely pleasant. Beyond that it was a nightmare. The service was sooooo sloooooow. It took too long for the waitress to come take our food orders after we placed a drink order. People in service should know to pick up the pace when they see small children in a party. However, even if it had been just adults, there is no excuse to keep us waiting for ten minutes. And then the food took absolutely forever, at least half an hour. During the wait, I counted only four parties totaling 14 people in the entire place. It was so frustrating. When the food arrived, half of it was wrong. My daughter ordered a kid's cheeseburger; she received a burger with no cheese. I ordered a grilled chicken salad with caesar dressing on the side; I received a caesar salad with the dressing mixed in. I didn't send it back--no time to wait! The salad was merely lettuce, dressing, and "chicken." The meat was rubbery and stale-tasting. The pretzel bites were horrid; sort of ligh-textured and vaguely sweet, but saturated with oil, they tasted more like toasted chunks of brioche bread than real soft pretzels. The "beer cheese" was mercifully flavorless. My wife's fish sandwich was bland but okay. The french fries were delicious. See, I closed on a positive note. read more

This place has its fans, including, the owner. Upon request from the owner to give them another try, I stopped by again last night for another shot at the burger. I switched things up a bit though, wanting to be sure to give the place an opportunity to put its best food forward. The wife got the previously dry Guinness Burger and I asked the Manager on Duty for a recommendation.....what do you guys do best? His reply, as I'd heard from others, was the Reuben. The Guiness Burger was better. It was more along the lines of a juicy, home-grilled burger. The Guinness BBQ sauce should be allowed to spill from burger to the plate so you can dip the fries. I'd come back on a Wednesday for the Reuben as it appears to be the special at $5.99. That's a good deal. Plenty of people were also noshing on the AYCE crab legs. Not sure on the price, but at least 3 large tables thought they were reasonable. Weather permitted us to choose the outdoor deck, which is a very nice alternative. There is a bar and a half-dozen tables. Service appeared to be very attentive the night we were there. It's difficult to personally attest to the service, given a bit of extra attention. In summary, the Reuben and improved Guinness burger warrant pulling the place up at least a half-star, and the owner's sincere effort to win over his customers is worth a little too. We went on Saturday during St. Baldricks and the service was so bad. I am hoping it's because the race had just started and stuff but our waitress was clueless and our pretzel bites were so greasy we could not eat them. She asked what was wrong with them but didn't offer any way to change them or make it better. :-( My $4 amaretto sours was decent. Good mix. The event itself was really good! Great music, fun atmosphere. Just would have liked more food choices and maybe something to warm up with other than liquor in the tent! read more

Rarely am I ever in Youngstown, but when I am, O'Donald's is a pub that I make a point of visiting. One, because the food is great, and two, because it's situated in a shopping center and it's right across from Walmart. I can be a fat pig at O'Donald's and hop over to Walmart to buy tomorrow's dinner. Convenient as it has an ATM inside. Also, Irish eggrolls? Yessir! The atmosphere is very American-Irish pub-y with their liquors on display and a countdown to St. Paddy's day on the wall. There's televisions at the corners of the bar and throughout the dining area, but it never gets too loud. Noise is the reason I tend to stay away from places like this, but this is under control. Dunno what it's like during the holidays. The servers are always very nice and welcome you as soon as you walk in. They're very knowledgeable about the menu AND they DO honour Yelp check-in coupons. And they wear kilts! How cute is that? On my latest visit, I was a little disheartened with the menu change. The year prior, I had my mind set on bangers and mash and THEY WERE OUT! Ugh. So I treated myself and some coworkers to chicken wings covered in one of the spiciest sauces they've ever tried: the Screaming Banshee. I loved the stuff so much I ordered a cup on the side. It made my eyes water a bit, but that didn't keep me from dipping my fries into it. Coworkers weren't too thrilled about it, but meh. O'Donald's also got rid of my raspberry lambic. Poopoo! Still determined to enjoy myself, I ordered the pierogies and wings with two different heat levels: Tsunami and Shamrock. The Tsunami sauce was the hottest one, so I'm thinking it'll replace Screaming Banshee... Nope. Nowhere near as hot as I would have liked it, but still nice. The Shamrock sauce is a concoction of honey, cinnamon, and green Tabasco. It was surprisingly delicious. Kind of like the salt and vinegar wings at Walmart, but 10000000x better. Lunch was great and I had some leftovers for dinner for under $25 (with a beer or two~). Thanks for the food! read more

Local bar that's a step above being a dive bar. Pretty standard as local bars in the area goes. Music was good, but entirely too loud Saturday night for its smaller size. However, it gets an extra point for fantastic wings and ample parking. And they don't seem to water down the drinks, so no points taken off there. Not sure if I should give it a point or take one away for their lighting though. It's dim and gives it a good vibe for picking up women, but the women were so-so at best so you'll need to pay attention with the low lights. Great place for cougars to meet guys though! Employee courtesy was hit or miss. The bartenders could use a kick in the pants regarding manners, but the server we had was nice and friendly. Had to make a mad dash to Youngstown Ohio for a down situation. Got it up quickly and another customer was satisfied. I was running on empty and needed to get some grub. This place was open and kitchen was till 2:30 am! Plus they have BEER, after a long day resolving problems BEER is always good. They have a good selection on draft and a nice selection of bottles. Enough to meet my needs. Had the Cajun wings, they were delicious! Also had the Guinness burger, thought I would try something different as I am Usually a blue or everything burger fan. This was very tasty and yes the burger reached and exceeded the bun. This is a must for me! Yvonne the gal behind the bar was very helpful and treated me like a local. There's a cool game machine by the door where you try to maneuver the claw to pick up a lobster which they will cook for you. An outdoor patio for those that want to have a smoke with their drinks. Coming here was the most fun I have had since moving to Austintown. Still trying to try places out but I will definitely be returning to O'Donald's. Do you enjoy Irish settings?? This is where you want to be! I arrived here for st Patrick's day, they had a bag pipe band and river dancers, green beer and into the night entertainment until 1 am. So much fun!!! We went back a few days later in the daytime to try their food and it's Irish to the bones. I love it and can't wait to return. read more

So the bartender was super nice, funny, and cool, but there weren't any Irish food options on the menu... they have a Reuben and fish and chips (which is European not solely Irish). They also were playing country music at an Irish pub. The look of the place is very Irish but if you're looking for Irish food this is not the place. Poor service. Had to ask many times for things I ordered and drinks were never refilled when asked. The bartender was the only one working out front working the bar, taking orders and moving food. This was the first time being there and most likely won't be back. read more

Had lunch there on a Monday. Had a corned beef sandwich, but the meat had a taste that suggested it may have been several days old. I had a similar sandwich there several weeks ago and it was very good. I should have sent the sandwich back with the waitress, but I was with someone and did not want to embarrass anyone. We were anxious to try something different it was really disappointing! The Poutine wasn't good fries overcooked on outside yet undercooked on inside. Fries soggy, but not from the gravy. Corned beef hash tasted like jerky had been put through a paper shredder. It was long stringy dry and chewy. Rye toast burnt and black on bottom. Chicken from chicken and waffles was best of any of the food although the mac and cheese didn't have any cheese tasted like macaroni drowned in syrup the waffle cone was stale and tasteless. The fried egg was best part of corn beef and hash. There was half eaten chicken wing under our table. When complained to manager had bidding war over how much would be taken off bill most he could take off was 38% claimed we ate most of food even though plates were sent back with most of food remaining on plates. Manager told us hoped would return not likely would ever eat there again not to mention flies and knats all up on our food and drinks and the music sucked. read more

What a disaster this place is. We attempted to have dinner here last night and finally decided to simply leave. Here's the chronology 1. 7:05 pm. arrived 2. 7:10 pm. Sat down. There is a hostess stand, which we lingered around for about 5 minutes while any staff who saw us chose to ignore us. We decided to seat ourselves. 3. 7:20 pm. Ordered Drinks. Waitress finally arrives at our table and takes our drink order. She asked if we needed menus and we told her yes. 4. 7:40 pm. A full 20 minutes pass and our server never returns. No drinks no menus. We decide to leave so, I find our server occupied with joking around with some people at the bar. I asked her to cancel our drink order, she just shrugged and said OK. I'm actually kind of glad it worked out this way, The place smelled heavily of rancid grease, and occasionally a tiny fruit fly would float by. It's too bad that whoever owns or runs this restaurant has let it slip to this level of service. There are just too many other great restaurants in the area for me to worry about ever going back to O'Donalds. read more

This used to be the place to be and I am torn on my review. I no longer live in little Youngstown, Ohio so the perk is definitely that the beer is under $2 for a bottle. The service was a bit atrocious. I finihsed a beer and pushed it to the edge of the counter and this did not promt the bartender to break away from his phone to perhaps deliver another. It was a Thursday night so it was pretty empty, I feel there should have been no reason for this. Next, the music. In my hour or two there they played the same Zac Brown Band song two times, Jay Z (99 problems), and two different 90's boy bands. Eclectic isn't the word I am looking for here...none of it seemed to fit and it was just all over the board. I also ordered food there and have to say it was pretty good for bar food but that is all they offer really. I wouldn't even give it one star if I could!!! The bathrooms were absolutely horrendous!! I've been here in the past and have had a decent experience but this time just topped it all. The ac was leaking...which we understand happens, but instead of mopping up the water the bartender just laughed it off. I went to the women's restroom and there was wet toilet paper ALL over the floor of the stalls. One stall had no toilet paper at all. This is a great Pub to have great drinks and tasty food! The best drink and food specials in town. The atmosphere is friendly and fun, never a doll moment. The bartenders are some of the best in town and you hardly ever wait for a drink. The servers are very knowledgeable and speedy, and might i add well groomed. This Pub has a great atmosphere! The food is very good especially the wings and the fish! If you become a regular customer the bartenders are quite nice and make the experience more fun! I don't normally write reviews unless something way out of the norm. My family and I heading into this place before heading to see a movie at around 5:30PM on a Saturday. we wanted to try something other than BWW. When we walked in we weren't receipted by a staff member and we could see a few staff members at the opposite end of the bar. We then waved and asked if we should seat ourselves. We didn't get much of a response so we walked over to the booths were we found a few other patrons in their own booths. We sat ourselves and after several minutes without seeing anyone coming over I decided to stand and look around for a staff member. Ironically, the guy in the booth behind me was doing the exact same thing. After a little while from then a waitress walked by and the guy behind me asked her for help. She responded in an angry tone, "I'm the only waitress and have a several tables so you need to wait your turn!" My family then got up and began to walk out. I looked over at the bar area and i could see a few staff members standing together and not working. I will not return to this place again. read more
