What an Unexpected Pleasure!!! Marvelous food, freshly made and served with a smile. My husband and daughter and I went for dinner. Had attentive service and very good food. Started off with the guacamole ( chunky style). I had a veggie burrito , so large I couldn't finish it. My daughter devoured her steak tacos so I guess they were good haha. Husband also couldn't finish his chicken burrito. I've never liked beans and both had beans I devoured them. Make sure you get the guacamole. It's homemade, creamy, and delicious. The foam and tres leches were good. Fresco Review My wife and I have been to this quaint little slice of heaven quite a few time. We've never been disappointed. The food is beyond authentic as it rivals even the food I've had in my travels to Mexico. I had appetizer special called Shrimp and Chorizo Huarache which is a Mexican street food. It's on a masa corn tart and the flavor was out of this world. It had the perfect amount of spice and absolutely delicious. My wife had the the crab and shrimp ceviche which was also the best she'd ever had. Then I had the entree special called Smoked Pork Chili Relleno. It's smoked corn in a roasted poblano pepper. I was told this was smoked in banana leaf and accompanied by sweet fried plantains. This was by far the most amazing Mexican dish I'd ever had. This combined with a beautiful presentation makes this an unforgettable experience. My compliments to to Chef Marco and co-owner Carlos for once again taking it up a notch. Of course my wife and I had to stop next door to Random Acts of Fresco Boutique where we can't seem to ever leave empty handed. We'll be back soon, perhaps even tomorrow. Dave read more

This is hands down our favorite Mexican restaurant. The food is delicious and authentic, while our usual servers are absolutely delightful to see (especially Maria)! We love this so much, it has become a once a week stop for since we moved to to the next town over. I highly recommend anyone in the mood for some Mexican to stop by Frescos! read more

So after reading online reviews and scoping out a place near Mendham for authentic Mexican food for some cousins visiting from Bergen County we decided to try Fresco. In the afternoon we had stopped by to scope it out (very cute) and the wait staff said they don't take reservations but the wait would not be more than 15 minutes max. So we got there around 6PM and the place was packed - we sat in a little space in the back by the one bathroom which only had 2 chairs. But true to what we had been told we were seated within 10 minutes. The waiter had difficulty understanding English and my cousin who is partially paralyzed asked for her skirt steak to be cut up for her and her husband asked for his to be prepared medium rare. We did not order appetizers - I had the combination plate Tampiquena with skirt steak, chicken enchilida and pork Tamale, comes with rice and beans - well after waiting about 20 minutes - my cousin's steak arrived uncut and the waiter said that the cook staff could not take the time to cut it for her so I had to do it on a tightly packed in table which shook until the waiter brought something to place under one of the uneven legs - my rice was cold so I sent my plate back as did one of my cousins - the other' steak came out well-done not medium, the food overall lacked flavor and most Mexican restaurants provide generous portions which was not the case here. They pack way too many tables into a small space and you feel like you know the other diners by the time you leave since there is no way you can have a private conversation without at least two tables hearing and participating. I will say my husband had a vegetarian frajita dish which he loved. I was looking forward to having the fried ice cream touted on this site but they did not have it on this occasion - so overall a big disappointment for me, however since my husband loved his meal we will probably give it another try and hope for a better experience read more

First, to be fair, we have not revisited the place in about a year so things may have improved. We first had lunch at Fresco in the Summer and sat outside on the tiny porch area. The food was delivered on paper plates which started to dissolve thanks to the liquidity of the food. Salsa came in small plastic containers and overall the presentation at Taco Bell is better. The food was bland though the salsa helped. I'd like to see the place get a clue but I think this will fall on deaf ears since they appear to be doing business in spite of the lack luster experience. Location can be the only thing a place like Fresco needs to thrive. read more

Very good Mexican food! We have dined here many times and I swear it keeps getting better and better. This weekend I had the BEST quesadilla I have ever had! It was a special this week and I really hope they add it to the menu! It was a Cajun roasted vegetable quesadilla. It was so delicious. Their guacamole is outstanding as well. Very fresh with large chunks of avocado. Watch out for the Camarones a la Diabla (shrimp with hot sauce)! It's extremely spicy, but if you like it that way, go for it! The burritos are huge and tasty and the specials are always on point! read more

I'm half Central American so I know authentic Mexican cooking. I walked in, looked at other's plates, took a quick glance at the menu and walked right out! Years later my mom and I were talking about local eateries and this place came up in conversation and she said she had the same experience. Stopped in for lunch last week on the way to Long Valley. Haven't been here in over a year, and will never return!! The "roasted vegetable burrito" from the special menu was bland, featured leftover veggies and canned peas!!! Husband ordered pork tacos and received the sorriest looking things ever! Four tiny, old looking pieces of pork, on undercooked corn tortillas. He said the pork was "chewy and dry". The homemade tortilla chips tasted stale and the pico de gallo was old as hell!! The tomatoes and onions were dried out. Very very disappointed. If you know what good, authentic, and fresh Mexican food tastes like, avoid this place!!! read more

The Mexican food here is fine. Not the best ever, not bad either. Definitely the best that I have found in the Chester area. The chicken nachos are great and they have great really crispy complimentary chips with a good variety of salsas. I had a special soup it was just ok ... other menu options that I ordered were good but the only thing that I had that was excellent was the chips and the chicken nachos that contained the chips. Atmosphere is casual and nice with some cool/funky artwork in really bright colors. Staff was friendly and attentive. read more

I had a bad day, wanted some Fajitas. I was a party of 1. i went early on a Friday night (5:30). There were 4 tables of 2 open , but they told me parties of 1 can only sit in the corner (queue dirty dancing). The chips were homemade, needed salt and it wasn't on the table probably due to covid. The salsa was watery and tasteless but their pico de gallo was awesome. They serve both free of charge. I ordered mix chicken and steak fajitas. Rice had peas and carrots in it snd wasn't hot. Very small pieces is steak and chicken, it doesn't come on a typical fajita plate snd there was no sizzle. They don't serve w quac, cheese and sour cream. I asked for side of cheese and the waitress was annoyed. Their homemade tortillas for the fajitas were great, the onions were also nicely cooked. Overall service was good. i did wait a bit for my drink and no one offered me a refill. Place is adorable, they had heating lamps for outside. This was my first time dining there and i think it will be my last - which is unfortunate bc i love a good fajita! read more

Lunch here is a weekly staple for me and my co-workers. The Cajun Chicken Quesidella is awesome. The guacamole is fresh and fantastic. Went here for lunch on a weekend. Cool little spot in chester. The inside is homey. I ordered a quesadilla which came out pretty greasy. The waiter was also a bit off. He asked us how we were, we said good you? His reply that he was doing about as good as could be expected struck me as odd. Anyway, we were having lunch after not seeing our lunchmates in a while and found it hard to have a conversation over the constant blender/grinder/or whatever it is that is running all the time. I've dined in at fresco Mexican several times and had a pleasant dining experience. However, my take out experience today was sub bar. The quesadilla was not only extremely soggy but it came with no side condiments (sour cream, salsa) which I was really surprised about. The burrito was fine, but the lettuce and tomato they sprinkled on the side was a joke. Why even add the three tomato pieces and tiny amount of shredded lettuce? The two dishes were $24.50 but the quality felt like I had paid $10 for it. read more

The butternut squash soup was great and had the only real flavor of my whole meal but the taco salad was bland and the tortilla bowl was stale. The food was fresh - it just lacked a kick.
