Found a piece of plastic in my beans. I'm disappointed because the last time I went to La Rienda I had a good experience but haven't been back in years and now will not be back. Also the steak tacos were incredibly salty and barely edible.

Was really craving Mexican food, the chips were good so I asked for Queso... was brought and charged $11 for a solid block of cheese and butter...lost our appetite quick and didn't even want to order full meals. The drinks and deserts were good tho. A little pricey too

Picked this spot on a whim on our way home to Hunterdon County, and we are so happy we did! Everything was so fresh and delicious and you could tell it was homemade. The Steak a la Mexicana was spicy and flavorful with tender steak, the Carne Adobada was chargrilled and delicious, and my seven year old was raving about the kids quesadilla. We also really enjoyed the guacamole and queso fundido appetizers. Do not miss the homemade salsas and hot sauces! And of course- a margarita!

Decent Mexican but nothing good enough to make me want to come back. We visited after completing a nearby hike and service was great but food was average. They also didn't honor the Yelp check in discount.

I came here with a group of friends around 4 p.m. and parking was already pretty limited, so I can imagine that it's much worse during peak dining hours. We sat on the outdoor patio area, which was pretty and quaint. I thought our waitress was sweet and attentive. Even though the prices are reasonable, I wasn't impressed with the food at La Rienda. I ordered the bistec encebollado and tried some of my friend's entree, the churrasco. I wasn't expecting the bistec encebollado to be cut up because when I've ordered previously at other Spanish restaurants, I was served a whole piece of steak. Despite looking a little different than expected, it tasted pretty on par. I found the dish flavorful but extremely salty. I have similar thoughts about the churrasco, but found it to be overcooked as well. The rice and beans that came with it to be average. I also found the guacamole we ordered for the table to be average. Because I'm not from the area, I don't really see myself coming back here. Nothing about my experience here really stood out to me, but this isn't to say that the food is bad. I've just had better closer to home.

We found this place on Yelp after a horseback riding trip. The place was empty Bc it was pretty early in the day. The food was fresh, nice drinks, great atmosphere and the workers were very nice. The owner came over and spoke to us about his family and their background. If I'm ever in the area I will definitely return.

Shrimp with wine, lemon, & a hint of Cajun spice- yummy!

Great food. Nice staff. It's loud, but charming. Bathroom needs attention. We've ordered in and it's well done.

Opened just 7 days and they've got it together! The food was so good we felt homesick for CR again. We ordered the Cena Tipica Hondureña (traditional meal). The steak was obviously marinated because the flavors of that, plus the chargrilling effect, was delicious! Especially loved those creamy refried beans they're famous for in Central America. Also ordered 2 pupusas (a favorite). We're taking home an order of churros and a piece of Tres Leches. I confess the biggest surprise was how fast the service was. As they're so new, I really expected very slow service but we did not wait more than 5 minutes! I must say that the ambiance is very much for take-out but we decided to eat in and it did not take away from the flavor. HIGHLY recommend this place if you want very authentic Central American cuisine.

And with a slight addition of some of their Authentic Hot Sauces I was definitely in my happy place. A home-made beef empanada would accompany that. The empanada was good (albeit a bit light on the filling), the yellow rice and beans were great, and the Pernil was phenomenal. For starters, the chicken is flavorful, fresh and always on point. The rice and beans as well, but french fries are always a miss - stale and floppy - but the chicharron makes up for it! The only downside here: if you don't speak Spanish, you're screwed with both placing the order and picking up primarily due to it being a family owned establishment in a heavily populated Latin/Hispanic community. I've tried calling in a handful of times and have been put on hold for a while or hung up on after a few tries. It's pretty tough to have a conversation with them primarily due to the loud background noise and distant tone picked up by their touch less headsets the employees wear. It can get a bit frustrating if you're not able to speak moderate Spanish, but the alternative is just order Uber Eats or DoorDash, honestly lol it's still so worth it though!

The stuffed Sole was well sized and filled properly with shrimp, scallops and more. Highly recommend and it was cooked perfectly. Well, let's get started: We sat down. Water and menus came, a drink order was put in, and before we knew it, bread, olives, and a salad (all unordered, all appreciated) appeared. The bread was warm (as God intended) and the salad nicely done up, already with an Italian dressing. The olives were spicy and yummy! Ok - not ordered, but I wasn't going to argue! We ordered a seafood paella - holy moly! It was like a 14" in diameter deep dish when it came out! Tasty, lots of mussels, shrimps, scallops, even a bit of lobster..... wow. I ordered chicken picatta - expecting thin strips of chicken in a nice sauce on top of pasta....damn. I got two flat, pressed chicken breasts on pasta. Can anyone say too big by half??? Wow. Couldn't finish it. And here's where the "food being thrown to us" came in- we got a side of green beans AND a side of seasoned rice AND a side of homemade potato chips (that needed salt but still). Damn. After declining dessert, they STILL brought us 6 little churros with a dark chocolate dipping sauce. WOW. Call me totally amazed. The pricing wasn't outrageous, and the food was absolutely BOUNTIFUL and yummy! The ambiance was amazing- old school in a classy way. And the service was absolutely ON POINT. Can't speak highly enough of this place! Nicely located in Ironbound and close to Newark Penn - will I come again? Yes. But I'll need room at the hotel for the leftovers! Yummy.
