I was in town for training and had lunch here several days. Nice little sub shop/deli on a quaint Main Street. Staff was friendly and created their masterpieces quickly. Had subs 2 of the days and the bread was very fresh and they were packed with meat. No scales used here. Final day I decided to try the roast beef Sloppy Joe. Not what most people think of a Sloppy Joe (see pic). It was a great double decker sandwich with coleslaw and Russian dressing along with a few other items and a ton of roast beef(ok maybe slight exaggeration. Came here after a trip to Alstede Farm with the kiddos to pick strawberries. Wanted a couple of sandwiches for the drive back to the city, and thought I'd support a local small business. Walking in felt like I went back in time to 1995 (not price-wise). The menu has standard deli sandwich classics. Only one option for vegetarians. Got an Italian and the veggie option. Both were pretty standard, tasted like what I'd make at home. Next time we're around the area I'll likely stop at Jersey Mike's. Better sandwich options, and similar price point. read more

ordered a salad with grilled chicken. The lettuce was shredded lettuce used on a sandwich 4 cherry tomatoes and 15 slices of cucumber and a plastic package of Kens dressing. I was expecting leafy greens, maybe better tomatoes and a crouton or two maybe a bit of feta. This is not a salad. On the website it shows a beautiful leafy green salad. I was very disappointed. For what the charge is I could have gone to shoprite bought a bag of shredded lettuce, a container of cherry tomatoes and 1 cucumber and a bottle of dressing and paid 1/4 of what we paid. Our family loves having our parties catered from Sub Pub. They do such a great job with the 6 ft. Subs and platters. We love the sloppy Joe's too. They use quality cold cuts and give generous portions of meat an every sandwich. Highly recommend giving them a try for lunch or to cater your parties. The owner is so great. Sometimes, you just want a really good sandwich. The Man and I have been to Sub Pub a handful of times now, and have made it our go-to place to get sandwiches. In a nondescript building at the western end of the downtown area in Chester, it's a spot that you could easily overlook. It shares a building with a monument company that looks more like a two family house than a commercial space - but that is the charm of Chester's business district. Parking at Sub Pub is... well, it's not great. They have a few spaces in their lot and sometimes spaces along the street will be open, but be prepared to do a little walking if you stop by during one of the many events going on downtown or right at meal time. One of the first things you notice when you walk into Sub Pub is the refrigerator case to the left of the door. Do not ignore this. Inside, they have salads and sides to accompany your sandwich. The potato salad is a personal favorite of mine, but they have other offerings as well. Once you enter, you must proceed to the back of the store to place your order. The menu has lots of option, but we usually go for one of the fancy ones they have on the back of the menu. The Man likes getting the Mendham (corned beef, roast beef, Swiss, lettuce, tomato, and Russian dressing) while I like to mix my proteins with the Long Valley (turkey, roast beef, Swiss, lettuce, tomato, and Russian dressing). If neither of those sound appetizing to you, they have dozens of other options to choose from. At this point, you're probably looking at the prices on the menu with a bit of confusion as to why the prices are as high as they are. It's simple. The sandwiches are big (a full size sub is enough to feed 2, possibly 3) and the ingredients are fresh. In this hustle-bustle world, everyone wants their stuff fast. Sub Pub isn't slow, but they take the time to slice the cold cuts when you order. Sure, pre-cutting could shave a few minutes off each order, but it would also mean the meat would dry out. It's worth the extra 2 minutes to have it done right. When you order, you'll have the option of eating at one of the little tables they have at the front of the store or taking your gargantuan sandwich with you. If you're anything like me, eating something of this nature in public is a dangerous proposition. It will get messy. Just grab some cold salads, some chips, and take your order to go. That way, when you realize your appetite is no match for your meal, you won't have to admit defeat to the rest of the world. I get it. Everyone has their own "favorite" sandwich joint. Some people just look for cheap and easy. They aren't going to enjoy Sub Pub. Those that look for quality and good ROI are going to find themselves eating these delicious sandwiches. read more

This place is delicious, very fresh, and friendly. Some people mentioned pricing, I don't find it excessive at all. A full sub is 16", not 12", meaning a half sub is 8", not the customary 6". They only use the best bread and premium deli slices, I think the price is quite fair. The location is a huge improvement from their last! read more

I came here and asked for two subs w everything on it just to come home to a sub with nothing on it. She def charged me for it tho. I now have to finish making my subs before serving them to my family. This isn't the first time it happens. So I guess even if you ask for everything you're going to have to specify exactly what you mean by that. read more

Great local sub shop. Fresh bread, freshly sliced meat and your choice of toppings and condiments. It can be hit or miss with whole wheat sub rolls, but it will not stop me from visiting! There is a small parking lot on the side of the building and a couple of spots in front of the building. I haven't eaten in, but there are a couple of tables inside and two outside for the summer months. Orders are usually ready in 10 minutes and they have never been wrong, even with my picky order! There is fresh homemade pasta and macaroni salad in the fridge upon entering and a good selection of chips to choose from. They have specials every day (except for Monday, they are closed). The specials are always delicious, and they have the best honey mustard I've ever had. The employees are also very friendly! A must go! read more

If you we looking for a no frills standard sub shop look no further. The menu has allegedly not changed since the 70s and it shows with limited choice of a meat on bread with cheese no maybe some veg. I've no issues with them doing the proverbial sub sandwich well (which they absolutely do) just not something my tastebuds get excited about. Good quality, good quantity, decent price so fills big appetites. I instead go to Chester bagel down Main Street for flavor and more exotic choices (cash only). read more

OMG... if you've had sandwiches at Subway or Blimpie or even Jimmy Johns - nothing compares to the sandwiches at this little shop in Chester.
