When I first came here, the waitress said everything on the menu was good. I was highly dubious, but she was mostly right. A lot of items on the menu are homemade, starting with the complimentary chips. Don't fill up on those though, because the portion size of the entrees are pretty generous. This adorable little store front has won mine and my Fiancés heart. We absolutely love frescos! We've visited more than a dozen times and it has something for everyone on the menu. I find myself always getting the Carne Asada and absolutely loving the fresh ingredients. Even the salsa and chips taste homemade (which I'm pretty sure they are) Definitely try the Hibiscus Tea- delicious and just a little sweet. Frescos is definitely one of the best Mexican joints around the area. The owner is super sweet too, he's so nice and the art he's brought back from Mexico and Spain is really, really interesting. I crave the Chimi Changas! There was a fabulous Mexican restaurant in NYC years ago and I have finally found its equivalent...right here in Chester NJ. The Guacamole is chunky, fresh and refreshing. the sauces are all fresh and a great variety of flavors. The main dishes have all been amazing. Flavorful and not too much or not too little food. The FLAN, oh my, the FLAN! Definitely have the flan, solid - type not the watery kind... REAL old fashioned deliciousness! It was a little cozy and there was a bit of a line.. Normally that's good.. But the staff was careless and left a few tables unoccupied which cases a bit clutter. Once seated, I didn't get a nice greet.. But felt very uncomfortable about the waiter who shows us he really didn't want to help us.. The remainder of the staff was foreign and didn't speak English.. I had a difficult time asking for "hot sauce." I enjoyed the food it was very good! Credits to the chef in the back! And anyone that's going to visit.. Amazing spot you'd also miss driving by on main st. In Chester, it's the only Mexican restaurant my boyfriend and I can agree on coming to and we are never ever disappointed!! It's nice to sit outside but the inside is beautiful as well. The owner is so personable and easy talk to, wait staff is super attentive, and the coffee infused cheesecake is out of this world! Stopped in last week for dinner with my family. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food. Its a small place which i'm sure on friday or saturday night may make it hard to get a table, but we got there early on a saturday late afternoon/evening and had no issue. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. We had the choice of dining outside or inside and we started outside at the request of my son, but quickly moved inside because he got cold. All the food came out quickly and was very tasty. The portions were large. It's a byob which is great! If you want a great desert try the tres leche's makes it even better. Make sure you get desert the tres leche's cake was delicious it was the best I have ever had. Definately recommend stopping in there if your in the area you wont be dissapointed. read more

Authentic Tijuana-style restaurant. It's crowded and noisy and wonderful - very much what I have been told my people in a position to know is what you find in Tijuana. The guacamole is perhaps the best I have ever had, and the rest of the menu doesn't fall far short of that lofty goal. The flavors aren't so strong that you need the fire company to help you digest, but they are rich and satisfying. "Fresco" means fresh, and the food is that in spades. In warm months you can eat outside (al fresco anyone?) and in winter the food gives you hope for warmth again. I recommend this place highly. read more

My family and I travel an hour to eat the delicious Caldo tlalpeño soup. Everything I've eaten here has been delicious and we've tried most of the menu over the years. This is definitely authentic Mexican food, which is a rarity in suburban New Jersey. By authentic, I mean this isn't tex-mex, salsa and chili type Mexican food. Everything is homemade, traditionally prepared, and made with fresh ingredients. The decor of the place is modern, bright, and very artistic with some cool paintings on the wall. Why the mediocre rating? I didn't find the food to be all that exciting, and I like authentic Mexican. The tamales were bland and dry, the enchiladas tough to chew and uninteresting. Appetizers were good, as were the corn chips and the desserts. The hibiscus iced tea is tasty as well. Overall, the taste of the food doesn't live up to its expectations. I was kind of disappointed.
