It's kind of funny to me that I had a couple of job interviews in the area and then decided to grab lunch at a supermarket that doesn't exactly scream discounts. I need a job to support my love for organic avocados and croissants! Before I got my current job, I was looking for work. I had interviews that spanned a couple of months. I drove down to Yorkville both times and parked in a lot. I went to each interview. Afterwards, I was hungry and hit this Whole Foods. The salad bar had my name all over it. There was also tiramisu and I got a box for my rectangular slab. I then went to pay for everything. For some reason, I didn't dine there. I ate in my car instead, which has been my usual thing for years. I remember how happy I was that the interview was over and I could indulge in fresh mixed greens, some salad dressing that had the best citrusy flavours, crispy cucumber slices, cherry tomatoes, and sweet corn kernels. I also remember stuffing by face with the best tiramisu. The mascarpone was heavenly with the lady fingers, cocoa, and more. I was so happy. I should have bought an entire tray of it just for me. I returned after my second interview and had an egg salad sandwich. Simple. Yummy. Perfect. The bread was seedy. It was so good. It hit the spot. I haven't been back here since I landed my current job. It may be a good thing. I still love Whole Foods. Markham has been graced with its own and I frequent it often. Coincidentally, I was there this evening. I'm glad that this store is still alive and kicking. It'll always have fond memories of post-interviews and yummy eats. (462)

The products are not intuitively arranged together and it as difficult to find certain things. However, the store was clean and as with most Whole Foods locations, there was a lot to choose from. I forgot how much I used to enjoy shopping at WF. Check out was easy and the cashier was friendly enough. I went there twice during my visit to Toronto because I fell in love with DJ&A dried mushroom snacks.

She looked and didn't seem to understand or was unable to reply then proceeded to talk to another woman who was stocking the shelves. It was in no relation to my request. She then walked away without acknowledging the question or saying she'd check. At the prices they charge I expect a modicum of polite service.

This particular location is in the suburbs and there is a small lot for parking. I decided to visit for their Mildred's Temple Kitchen pancake mix -- luckily I found it thanks to a worker. While I was shopping, I was excited to see that they had the famous cream top milk. There are so many premade foods, and cool products from companies I've never seen before. This grocery store chain reminds me of Village Grocer and Farm Boy. There are four cashier tills and they help bag your items. I'd come back to Summerhill Market to purchase some things exclusively, but I wouldn't make this my go to grocer as it's quite expensive.

The guy that works in the produce department on Sundays is very nice and always willing to help. Tip: Check your receipts before leaving the store. I've been overcharged for multiple items a few times. Luckily I noticed the mistakes while in the store.

The meat counter is stocked with yummy tasting meat just ready to be cooked. Everyone behind the counter is extremely nice and that includes the Deli as well. The number waiting can be a bit of a disaster but mainly because people don't listen. The bakery is always busy and I've seen they have a little area to pick up some quick eats (pizza, chicken parm etc..) The aisles are pretty easy to navigate and they do have products you most likely won't find anywhere else. I've found mainly on the European side of things. The cashiers have always been friendly and enjoy a little chit chat depending how busy it is.

Plus, call me different, but I don't want food that's been subject to weeks of music that doesn't suit; I suspect it can subtly change the food's makeup to affect you psychically. With my umbrella protecting me from the rain, I headed inside the store to shop. This store has a Starbucks. There used to be a standalone Starbucks store nearby that I liked. It shuttered for good. It's good to know that if I need one, I can come here. I needed celery. The celery looked sad here. It looked abused and bruised. Poor celery. It was slim pickings, but I got some. There were some other items that were in better shape. Mushrooms were great. The hydrangeas looked healthy blooming away. The dairy-free beverage section made me happy. This store has a Joe Fresh section. I like browsing to figure out what styles are cool. The downside to Joe Fresh clothing is that articles that I have purchased in the past don't last long. I find that the quality isn't great. This place has portabella jerky. It isn't cheap, but it's nice seeing meatless alternatives. I was also happy with the Russell Stover candy varieties. I love this brand so much. I headed to the checkout and had a nice woman assist me. I paid with a debit card. I scanned my PC Optimum barcode from my phone. All went well. I bought beer so I had to go through the checkout line with cashier, a bit slow as it was 9pm, less cashiers. I also bought the veggie sticks snack for $2, on sale. Enough selections for what I need at the time which the beer could have been in a fridge though.
