Morning Sunshine and Chia Seed Pudding Cup (granola 1 fruit & drizzle)
    Amanda W.

Wonderful experience at Fresh Coast! I stopped by before a meeting in the region for a healthy (juice and chia seed pudding). I loved my morning sunshine juice with beets! And my chia seeds had the perfect consistency as if they were already soaked the night prior. Also, the attendant there was friendly. I stayed for 30 mins and she gave me the WiFi password. Overall great experience and would absolutely go again.

Fresh Coast is the type of eatery I would like in my workplace - that's the vibe it gives. Cool, chill yet professional staff that wants to feed you healthy, yummy food. I love the Crab salad, the Crispy Onions, the Black Quinoa, the Ginger. Toppings and combos are endless! I love to overflow - but be mindful it can get pricey. The Nutella toast is a guilty free finish to the bowl. Do not go here looking for ambience - again, think workplace lunch :-)

Nice poke bowl place in Newark! I wish the spicy tuna was better tho. The lady that helped us was really sweet and took time to explain each bowl

    Maui Wowie Salmon
    Phoebe L.

I got a biggie Maui Wowie for takeout, and for the price, I thought it was decent. It looks like the difference between the small and the biggie is just the amount of rice you get, but it looked like the toppings didn't change. I'm not sure that I would necessarily call this poke since the fish was unseasoned, but the sriracha aioli added some nice flavoring! I liked the mango and vegetables, and everything was very fresh. I didn't like that the rice was packed in so tightly because it was difficult to mix, and the soy sauce seasoning the rice was all condensed at the bottom. Once I got closer to the end of the bowl, it tasted much better when I could mix it all together and the rice had more flavor. If I ordered again, I would definitely get the small because I couldn't even finish the rice in the big bowl, and I'd just be paying less for the same amount of fish.

REVIEW UPDATE: My star rating hasn't changed from my last review, but that was written in 2017. I've been going to Fresh Coast since back when it was known as Ono Grinds. Recently, we've been ordering pickup from Fresh Coast, so I wanted to recommend them again if in downtown Newark. You can order through the Yelp/Grubhub app, which is what I do. These are our repeat orders of recent: - Build Your Own Biggie Poke Bowl (tofu for all 3 proteins, brown rice, cucumber, white onion, edamame, scallions, sesame seeds, radish, sweet sesame) - Maui Wowie Biggie Bowl (light sauce, spicy salmon tartar, kani crab salad, spicy tuna (minced), over white rice) - Paid Vacation (Immune Booster) - coconut milk based shake smoothie - Acai Berry Buzz (Antioxidant Rich) - berry goodness with just the right amount of tartness Above are the bowls that we order with our customizations. You have the choice to add or remove whatever toppings/fixings for your bowls, salads, etc. I never have had an issue ordering using the app, and haven't been disappointed so far. So recommend Fresh Coast and the Yelp/Grubhub app.

Chia Pudding with Pineapples and PB drizzle.

During my visit to Fresh Coast, I experience good customer service; aside from employees being friendly, an employee helps me find a nice filling Vegan snack, Chia Pudding, which I find super filling and tasty especially with pineapple bits and peanut butter drizzle. The atmosphere is chill. The establishment takes different forms of payment.

Beware when ordering takeout before they close. Check your food, even though it's a hassle. Ive previously ordered from here before but they dropped the ball this time.

Small poke bowl. Krab Salad and Ahi Tuna. Draped in Sriracha and Hawaiian Sauce. Great.

I'm not much into Sushi. I like my fish cooked most times and just did not think this would be for me. I was craving something different. Checked the reviews out and thought I'd give this a shot. Well, I gave it two shots back to back lol Yes, it was that type of good!! I ordered through Uber Eats for delivery and was surprised at all my available options. Lots of toppings and proteins to choose from. Some options cooked, others raw which is great for me because I only eat Ahi Tuna raw because it tastes like pastrami to me. Go figure. *Shoulder Shrug* My first bowl was a Biggie Bowl with cooked shrimp, Krab Kani salad and Ahi tuna. Purple cabbage, Ginger, Jalepeño, Tempura flakes, scallion, white rice, onion and pineapple. Sriracha aioli and Sweet sesame sauce was an excellent sauce duo of sweet and heat. Had a Lemonade with muddled strawberries and mango that was delicious as well. The biggie bowl is huge and vetter suited for large appetites. The next day, I wanted more! So I ordered a small poke bowl and opted to add avacado and switch up the sauce with Hawaiian and sriracha aoili which wasn't quite as much of a powerhouse as it was when I mixed sriracha aoili and sweet sesame sauce. The small bowl suits me better and is just as good and less waste.

Kale Bowl no granola (cacao nibs)
    Laura C.

I had a bowl from here the other day. I originally wanted the spirulina bowl. I got the kale one instead which was very good depite it not being what I ordered. I work at a hospital so I was grateful that they delivered it at no cost. That's why I gave them five stars and for a delicious bowl overall. I have a gluten allergy so I wish they would of had gluten-free granola because online it said it did but not on here so I was a bit confused about that part. Although I do respect the fact that they didn't just add regular granola but just left it as is with the fruit and all of the yummy goodness it comes with. Which talking about yummy goodness the cacao nibs and coconut was my granola . Amazing chocococo flavor in my mouth. Just writing about it makes me want another. By the way they are very affordable. I will be ordering from here soon again, I can't wait. Anyhow I hope everyone is staying safe and social distancing. Sending good vibes too all my yelpers out there.

Hubby and I came here with our newborn after attending a friend's son's first birthday party in the area. We were starving and wanted to grab a bite before heading back home. When we stopped in, it was pretty empty, probably because it was later in the day and cold as all heck outside. The staff was nice and I like the beachy vibe of the decor. The communal tables gives a social atmosphere to dining in. We ordered a bowl to share and a couple of bevvies. Everything was to go and we just ate in the car, where we parked in the lot next door. The food is definitely fresh but I felt like like the poké bowl was a bit bland. It may have been because of the items I added in but most every poké bowl I've ever had was bursting with flavor. Their lemonade was nice. We shared one and save one for home. While it's not likely that we would visit again just because of where it's located, if we ever did find ourselves in the area again, I probably wouldn't mind stopping in and trying another bowl.

Fresh Coast is my go to place for lunch when I'm in the office. At this point they need a loyalty program because this is my third bowl in two weeks. I picked up a small build your own poke bowl and it for me it was huge! I had leftovers for dinner that day. The spicy salmon tartar is my favorite and the fish and toppings are always fresh!

4.5 Love this place so much! One of my favorite things is their tofu. No other poké place does it like they do and it tastes absolutely amazing. I've got several times and enjoyed it always. Haven't tried the açaí bowls or coffee yet though. Poké bowl pictured is: Salmon & chicken bowl. Really recommend this place as it's one of my favorites!

    Dried out "oven roasted salmon"
    S G.

I ordered the Super Juice fresh juice....they literally used fresh ingredients and it tasted amazing. The service was great as well. I also ordered the Caesar Pleaser without cheese and added salmon and jalapeño. It would've been perfect had it not been for two of the reasons I post below. Cons: 1) the "oven roasted" salmon was unchewable (half of it)...it has that microwave reheated dried out look and it was super hard 2) the Caesar dressing was entirely stretched out...it was like pouring water on my salad 3) the utensil provided was not in any plastic or biodegradable wrapping...just out in the dusty elements by the cashier...so definitely wash before using.

u can see all the toppings right here. I got a bowl with lettuce rice and a browning spicy tuna

If you're not a student or employed around the area where do you park? Street parking seemed so scarce.

Hi! Thank you for asking this question- we suggest parking on Washington or Halsey street. There’s plenty of parking there especially weekends!

Is this open already? If not, when does it open I am excited?

Thanks for your excitement! We're not open just yet! We've been participating in several markets across New York & New Jersey as well as catering but will be open next month (July) at our Newark location. Follow us on social media @OnoGrindsPoke for…

I come across this "Health Food Herb Center" touting "meatless deli" to which I respond with a dash to the door. Upon walking in to this mysteriously [almost] meatless grocer/deli, I am in awe of their grocery options. Frozen mock meats (yes, an entire Thanksgiving faux turkey!), herbs/spices, cookies, teas, pastas, all sorts of incredible things! Then I get back to the deli counter, I was a little confused at first because there was some standard Boars Head fair. BUT ALAS, up in the top left corner, large deli-style loaves (I don't think that's what they're called but I'm going with it) or turkey, corned beef and salami. I opted for the salami, the lovely lady behind the counter let my try it first and my mouth erupted with salty, smokey flavor close enough to meet that I was beyond satisfied but not too close that I was hesitant. She LOADED my wrap with salami, carrots, onion, beets (shredded, she promised I wouldn't be able to taste them and she was not wrong), cabbage, vegenaise, oregano and cayenne pepper. There are very few things within the vegan spectrum that I salivate over, this was within the top 10. I grab a handful - okay 9 - of the various cookies and am on my way back to the office. Unwrapping this masterpiece had me as giddy as Jim Gaffigan when he eats bacon, there is some hardcore food envy from my non-vegan desk neighbors. The wrap was full of fresh, vibrant flavors, I could not be more thankful that this gem exists. These guys will make me look forward to coming to this office every single time now.

I couldn't tell if this was some guy trying to take my phone and run for it, or if he was trying to hack into my shopping cards with an RFID reader (yes, thieves do that), or if he was an ICE officer trying to profile me while being undercover or what. It was so obvious. He passed me like around a dozen times while I'm trying to figure out what to get, mind my business and shop around. After confronting him directly to try and see why he was following me, he decided to get snarky. Couldn't even answer me when I asked him if he was a security officer or what. Had it been someone with less patience, he probably would have gotten punched in the teeth (seriously, some people are crazy like that).
