Small farmer's market with just the right amount of vendors. You will find fruits, veggies, meats, cakes, jams, jellies, soaps and a few more trinkets for your tummy or body to enjoy. Down near the Annapolis harbor you can take in the visuals of the boats that are docked or sailing, people watching, the multitude of restaurants or shops. Or you can stop by this quaint little farmer's market just before you do all the the other things. Although small, this farmer's market has a small town appeal with just a few vendors, but I found them attentive, personable and and plain old nice. From Belle's Acres soap, balms, salves, and body washes to Karen Kay's table of cakes and other sweet treats with no sugar, calories, just LOVE as she tells it. Glory Hallelujah! FreshFarm has come to Annapolis! The folks who brought you the Dupont Circle FreshFarm market, along with several others, has opened a new location at the Annapolis harbor. We ran down this morning for the inaugural launch and they did not disappoint. Criteria for vendors at a Freshfarm Market include, that you must be located within the Chesapeake bay region and you may only sell what you have either grown or made yourself. With that said, there is a definite slant towards sustainable and organic product of high quality. Today's offerings included: Quail Creek Bakery, Cherry Glen Goat Cheese Co, Flower vendors, Springfield Lamb, Local produce featuring early tomatoes, mini cucumbers, herbs, sweet cherries, asparagus, strawberries and much more. We also scooped up a delicious homemade gazpacho and mushroom empanadas for later. Local favorite, Chef Jim Wilder of the Wild Orchid Cafe was on hand for food demonstrations. We watched as he prowled the market for his ingredients but were unable to stay. There is plenty of room for expansion and we have hopes that as the season progresses, even more vendors will join in. We swung by here on Sunday hoping to pick up some of the goodness that Patrick H spoke of in his review. We were underwhelmed but came away with enough to be sort-of satisfied. A great variety of vegetables were available, which was nice. Being a farmer's market, you're at the mercy of what's in season -- so at this point in the summer, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, beans, and potatos were ruling the roost. We also picked up some good kielbasa (frozen, but naturally raised & local). Oh yeah, and these Korean musk melons were really good. But unfortunately there just weren't a lot of vendors around. You basically had one meat provider, three veggie stands, a bread person, a cookie person, and a couple of people selling jewelry. I was really hoping to pick up some local cheese, seafood, or maybe some cool 'street food'. No such luck. I think to really judge we need to go back a couple of times and see what changes. One of the vendors said the Saturday market over at the Riva Road location has more vendors, so we'll probably try that too. read more

So yes it is small, and the selection is limited, but thank god there is something downtown!!!! I just wish they would do this on St. John's campus and make it an event if you will. We are starved in this town for culture and at least this provides the bare minimum. The vendors are friendly, the organizers are great! The lack of the 4th star is due to them being so small - let's push for progress!!! read more

Nice market but it was very small, therefore not the best selection. I guess if you are local the location must be a blessing so that is a plus. The quality of products offered was excellent, especially Zeke's coffee and Belle's Acres lotions and lineaments. I will come back again when in Annapolis, just wish there were more vendors. read more

I visit this farmers market every few months, continuing to hope that it change to be worth the time. Once again, it turned out not be. The selection is very limited. One vendor for each of bread, meat, and cheese. Three for vegetables, and few misc. stands. I made the mistake of not asking carefully before buying, and it turned out to be expensive. No prices were posted at the bread vendor, but I was expecting the usual $4-$6 range so I went ahead and asked for a loaf of olive bread and handed over the money. The loaf was $8 -- I probably wouldn't have bought it if the prices were listed. Oh well, perhaps it will be great bread. No, it was stale. Not just a slightly dry crust from sitting out for a few hours, it was obviously at least a day old and probably several days old. The texture changed little as I sampled it over the next few days. My other expensive purchase was goat cheese. The sign listed the varieties and prices. It also said 5oz rounds. I must not have been for all of the varieties, because when I got home I found that the $5 round I had bought weighted just slightly under 2 ounces with the wrapper off, making it over $40/lb. Yes, it's a tasty, interesting cheese, but it's not that special. My vegetable purchases were more successful, but the selection was understandably limited by being so early in the season. The lettuce was the clear winner, having obviously been freshly picked. Bottom line: with its very limited selection, this doesn't substitute for a trip to other markets, and with the high prices you leave it to the tourists that it is obviously targeting. read more

My husband and I stopped by this market and we were very disappointed in the number of venders here. There were two vegetable stands, one fruit stand, and a bread stand. The remaining few stands there had random products....tomato juice, crab dip, etc. The prices at the vegetable stands weren't all that cheaper than at the grocery store; however, the vegetables did look better. We ended up buying some crab dip that tasted amazing. read more
