Fresh Fit Foods is a great local food company that has paired up with World Health Club locations around the city, with their main location being at the Glenora WHC on 142 Street & 107 Ave. They focus on fresh foods that enhance a healthy & active lifestyle. Basically they want to take the fuss out of eating well. Here's what it says on some of their marketing materials: Who we are: - Your grocery shopper - we pick the freshest (never frozen!) and healthiest ingredients for our meals. - Your meal planner - each dish is perfectly proportioned to give you the right amount of nutrients. - Your nutrition coach - we'll guide you through every step of the way! - Your personal chef - our Executive Chef gives you high quality, delicious, and nutritious meals. They also offer a 21 day challenge which is like having a personal chef for 21 days. (Price ranges between $649 - $699) Fresh Fit Foods offers a pretty extensive menu, covering everything from Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and snacks in between. I had the privilege of trying a few of the health items offered after a Yelp Fit event yesterday. - Thai Peanut Chicken Salad: includes pieces of seasoned chicken, romaine, edamame, red pepper, carrot & onion in a Thai peanut dressing. In my opinion, this salad lacked depth of flavor, perhaps from not enough dressing provided to dress the entire salad as well as the chicken which could use more punch. The peanut dressing was mild so much so that I barely tasted the peanuts. The ingredients were fresh though which I appreciated and I know the portions were right on. I should also mention that I found the pieces of raw onion to be overpowering and harsh, so I just picked them out. - Chicken Salad Wrap: filled with a light mayo-based chicken salad combined with dried cranberries and a hint of tarragon. This wrap wasn't bad - I could see myself coming back for this one. It came with a side of apple slices which makes for a nice balanced healthy meal. - Oat Bake: a mini-loaf made with fruit, almond and oats. Looks appealing although I have yet to try as I was going to eat it later when I got home from work. They offer a huge variety of items, I'd be interested in returning to try more. I personally had to add hot sauce and salt to a few of the entrees but when you don't have time to make something from scratch, it's a great alternative to fast food. What a wonderful concept!! Fresh for foods can replace your meal prep days like that!! The only thing is it costs a little bit more than doing it yourself, but that's to be expected. The prices aren't too bad and you know you're fuelling your body with healthy foods!! In addition to being able to come and choose your meals, you can pre order ahead of time and pick it up at any world health gyms I believe. The taste of these pre-made meals are pretty good as well! Unlike other healthy meal preps, fresh fit foods actually tastes just as good as a home made meal! It's so easy and so healthy! Plus they've got plans for you to follow of you wanted to! Fresh Fit Foods is a business based on a really great concept- fresh healthy foods packaged into portion controlled meals. I was able to try out several of their dishes as part of the Yelp Fit Club, and I was impressed by the quality of the foods. I had the medium sized steak salad ($9.99), which is part of the dinner menu. The veggies were fresh and crisp, the steak was nicely seasoned and the dressing was very flavorful. The serving size was decent. It would have been nice to have a bit more steak, but yes I know, that would detract from the healthy, weight loss aspect of the dish ;) For breakfast the next morning, I tried the oat bake ($7.99). It had great flavour, and I otherwise would not have thought of it as a diet food (you know sometimes diet foods have that "diet taste" to them!). Later in the day I had the protein snack ($4.99), which contained celery sticks, baby tomatoes, two small pieces of chicken, half a hard-boiled egg and some hummus; although the food was fresh, this was probably my least favourite of the three dishes I tried as I wasn't the biggest fan of the taste of the hummus. I would be interested in trying out several more of their dishes, and picking some up from time to time when I feel like take out but I still want something healthy. Fresh Fit Foods does offer a 21 day plan (breakfast, lunch, dinner and 2 snacks), on which you could lose up to 15 pounds; the price for this $649 for small portion sizes and $699 for medium sized portions. It is a bit pricey, but if it fits into your budget, it would be a great option to try if you are interested in a health eating/weight loss regimen. read more

I'm very disappointed with the 21 Day challenge. The consultant I ordered from at the Glenora location left SO much information out. I was disappointed that I kept getting the same things over and over to the point where I was getting very sick of eating the same food. I was not informed that you were able to change what you were getting online (how would I when I didn't get an email saying you could log on to change meals) This isn't to say that the food wasn't good but overall the lack of knowledge I was given was extremely disappointing for how costly this is! Really to bad as I was hoping to have a great experience to recommend to friends and family! read more

As part of Yelp Fit Club, we got to sample full size portions of various Fresh Fit Foods offerings. They are a meal preparation service concentrating on foods with heart healthy fats, low glycemic carbs, high antioxidants, lean proteins and fresh ingredients. They are targeted towards weight loss, but they are healthy foods in general, and great for any health conscious person. You can order online and pick up at 10 locations in the city! Their 21 day challenge package works out to around $30+ a day for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Breakfast is $4.25-$9.99 depending on portion size and choice, Lunch is $7.99-9.99, and dinner is $7.99-9.99. Snacks are $4.99. I tried the medium portion of the steak salad (dinner), oat bake (breakfast) and chicken salad wrap (lunch). I was impressed overall. The ingredients - especially the steak and chicken - were fresh, juicy and not overcooked, and the flavours were tasty. The medium portion size I found was a good dinner size for me (I'm a tiny woman) for a regular meal... I think anyone else would not find it filling without supplementing the meals with snacks, esp since most of the options are low carbs. But I guess it's a weight loss plan for a reason. The oat bake was a bit bland and not worth $6.99 to me. The chicken salad wrap was really tasty and flavourful though! They did not skimp on the chicken either! I did not eat the snack, but would be less keen on paying $5 for a small veggie platter. I think the lunches and dinners are the best value and highest quality of the bunch. I'd rather have the Fresh Fit Foods prepackaged salad than one I bought at a grocery store for slightly less $ (and not as high quality). This type of salad if served at somewhere like Earl's would be at least in the mid teens. I think this would make a great healthy eating option for someone who is short on time and has a little extra money. There are quite a few of the menu options that sound tasty and I would consider trying in the future - cilantro lime turkey rice bowl, ranch land chili and baked yams, and Thai Peanut Chicken Salad to name a few. I got a free Thai Chicken Salad from Fresh Fit Foods as a part of the Yelp Fit event. Since it was free, I'm not sure how much it was and have no sense of the value. That said, it was definitely good! The chicken quality was great (I get so picky about meat quality in pre-packaged things) and the veggies really went together well. I felt like it was definitely I would get myself if I was in a hurry and didn't have time to prepare my own dinner. I also really loved that they included calorie information right on the top of the package as well as a nutritional label so you knew exactly what you were eating. read more

The store is filled with healthy food choices. Friendly staff . Come here for yummy snacks for your new fit lifestyle. Or join the weight loss program: 21 day challenge sound like a great start too! I tried the medium portion of the chicken 'greek' salad for dinner, very filling and tasty too, for breakfast I tried the oat bake which was the healthy kind but a little lack of flavor. My shift rotation often leads me to eat quite poorly so a friend of mine suggested I try Fresh Fit Foods for their ready to go meals. I'm by no means an expert on nutrition, luckily the girl working there (pretty sure her name was Lizzy) was kind enough to help me out, she took the time to educate me on what foods would be best to maintain my energy level throughout the work day without crashing (turns out eating lots of carbs during the day hasn't been the best of choices). The service I received was very friendly and non-judgemental (which I really appreciated). Definitely gained a new customer! Also, the Glow Wrap that was recommended was fantastic, without a doubt better then anything I could get at subway. read more

I have sort of a love/hate relationship with Fresh Fit foods. I love them because I absolutely love the concept of being able to purchase healthy meals on the go and they make my life so much easier because they cut my meal prep in half. With that being said they do have some amazing items (the muffins, turkey cobb salad, and egg salad are my faves) but they also have lots of items I do not enjoy. I also has signed up for the 21 day challenge and they don't let you customize your orders at all (I found their breakfasts too spicy for me as they use some kind of cumin spice on everything). Also a few time there were items missing from my order and they did replace the items in the next order but it sucked cause I did not have those items for the days I was supposed too. Also sometimes the food quality is there and sometimes it is a little off. Overall great concept though and I would like to see more of these types of companies in yeg read more

I have been trying more and more of their pre made meals over the past few weeks. I feel there portions are a little larger than what I need. However for the price and convenience, I will continue to go back as these actually taste well. The only one so far I didn't like was the few I tried with turkey, only because the turkey seems really dry. Rest have been amazing. read more
