We've been enjoying The Lazy Oyster since the COVID lockdown days. These guys were amazing at getting delicious fresh oysters to you wherever in Miami! We also had them at Smorgasburg and this weekend was our 2nd time at The Lazy Oyster's Gramps Getaway location. I love this location, it's a great place to sit and enjoy the fresh oysters, the Lobster rolls (the hot brown butter is our fave) and crab dip. We called the business's phone, and the guy on the phone was one of the nicest people I've spoken to. He came to look for our car and told us where to park. We were greeted by Alex, who is very knowledgeable about oysters and incredibly friendly. He took the time to explain their unique approach - a focus on catering and supply rather than a traditional cafe setting. We were able to purchase oysters, which were promptly cleaned and opened for us and packed with ice for freshness. The experience was so delightful that we couldn't resist pairing our oysters with a bottle of Prosecco for a truly indulgent treat. Also, Alex was so kind to us that he shared his merch -- The Lazy Oyster T-shirt. I happily wear it back in NY and give directions to The Lazy Oyster in Miami! So, just so you get an idea, it's a storage with oysters, and they are not a cafe or anything like that. They focus on catering and supply. I visited the Lazy Oyster at Smorgasbord night market and was so impressed by the delicious flavors as well as the genuine conversation that I had with the owner. I was drawn to the booth because they had a bar-ish area to sit at while you eat, instead of taking it away like most of the other stalls. It was interesting to watch because as you sit there, they shuck the oysters in front of you- which I had never seen before! The owner was so kind and explained the shucking process to me, as well as general facts about oysters when I asked. He explained to me the difference between west coast and east coast, and what they both taste like. He was super kind and clearly passionate about his craft. I've had the lobster roll here twice now. It's truly delicious. It is full of soft meaty lobster meat with huge chunks of claw meat. They use browned butter which really gives it a nice extra level of flavor. They are very nice here and helpful. Even though they're in the middle of Smorgasburg, they really thought out their setup. They deliver in the Miami area, but check with them to see if they are making your shellfish dreams appear at your doorstep. I ordered a dozen of the British Colombia oysters at Cebadas during a pop-up menu. Their oysters are top notch quality and arrive with spectacular marinara and horseradish condiments, as well as an interesting vinegar for those who prefer acidity. I would have paid $40 happily for these dozen oysters, but I was given a menu by Lazy Oyster (per the manager at Cebadas) which proclaimed one dozen oysters for $24. I paid $40 in the end and they refused recourse for falsely advertising half-price on their printed menus. Overall, I feel cheated and scammed. I will never partake in this fraudulent scheme again.
