I mean it's always good. Came here for a Sunday brunch but it was nice to see that the entire menu was available. I'm kind of sad they no longer have a tofu scramble for brunch, so I ordered from the main menu instead. My drink wasn't warm so they remade it, without any issues. I usually stick to the bowls or salads and I'm never disappointed. Wish they would bring back the ace of kales salad (please!). My go to appetizer is the quinoa onion rings with miso gravy. This was also my first time the the newer Yonge & Eglinton location (south side of Eglinton) and its really charming and nice. Looks like they'll have a nice patio in the summer as well. The menu is berry comprehensive with an array of pizzas, bowls, appetizers, tacos, wraps and burgers. We had the corn bread $4.5 with a side of avocado $2.5, buffalo cauliflower $15 (with crispy buffalo cauliflower, carrot, and celery), spicy sausage pizza $19 (with omato sauce, Cheese+, Beyond sausage, fennel seeds, red onion, Calabrian chili aioli, fresh basil), and bbq burger $19 (with house-made grain burger, bbq sauce, quinoa onion rings, garlic mayo, napa cabbage, banana chilies, tomato, lettuce). We use to love fresh... this was very disappointing. The food has gone way down, and the service wasn't great either. When we were half way finished our meal the staff came by to see how it was... the tomatoes on the salad were way under ripe and the sprouts on our wrap seemed kind of old. The washroom was gross... liquid on the floor. We will definitely not be back here. It's a shame as there aren't very many options for going meatless. read more

Yes, it is vegan. Yes, they have items on the menu like burgers and cornbread and Cobb salads. No, there is no meat. Yes, there are a lot of references to things like tempeh and quinoa. There's even feta which isn't goat cheese. So considering all of that, this wasn't bad. I did not care for the burger which was really dry, although it was better with the chipotle mayo it comes with (which frankly would make anything taste good). The onion rings were quite good and you could see the quinoa in it and could almost feel good about how crisp they were given you were eating so much wholesomeness at the same time! (I told myself). The Cobb salad was quite good overall - I didn't even mind the tempeh. I could have done it with a bit more tomato and a little less vegan feta. If you're into vegan food, go for it. Not your typical beer-battered rings. Was more the crumbly bread crumb type but with quinoa who gave an extra crunch to it. So so good. I could eat eat least 2 servings of these. 5/5. BBQ Burger - The lovely waitress Renee recommended one her faves that included this burger. She also mentioned that instead of the brioche burger she normally subs it with the grilled tortilla. Indoor dining just opened up so we decided to come here for lunch. They have strict mask rules, all the staff wear masks, and the seating is spaced apart. Funnily, our Vegan friend couldn't make it which was the reason to go to Fresh, but for a bunch of non-Vegans we thoroughly enjoyed the food! Nicholas was our server and he was super friendly, and thoughtful. He brought additional utensils so we could more easily share the appetizers. Ordered a Chai bomb which was well spiced and creamy. The hummus platter and avocado toast were nicely presented and tasted very fresh. My husband enjoyed the buffalo wrap. He noted the texture was a little different from chicken but it didn't bother him. He said he'd eat it again and he's usually a picky eater. We were the only ones in the restaurant for a while but they were still fairly busy with takeout orders. We opted for the bundle for 4 people which included 2 appetizers (your choice of onion rings with chipotle dip or dragon fries), 4 entrees (a few to choose from), and 4 desserts (choice of peanut butter brownies or s'mores cookies) for $65. We went with 2 orders of onion rings, a Buddha bowl, all star salad, Buffalo wrap, and a chipotle burger. I ordered in advance through the app and the quoted prep time was about 20 minutes. When I arrived my order was complete and ready. It was nice and hot so I know it wasn't waiting there, so they give accurate estimates. Everything tasted very nice and came as ordered. It's quite a bit of food so it was perfect for us. The onion rings are the star for sure but the dressing that I chose for the salad, the 369 I think, was also delicious! We opted for a healthy dinner option last night and Fresh did the trick! None of us are vegans but we truly enjoyed this restaurant. I especially enjoyed their gluten-free menu and the variety of options available on it. I expected Fresh to be similar to a Freshii or another healthy grab and go alternative, but was pleasantly surprised to see that they had a cute interior for sitting down and enjoying your meal right there. The restaurant is a cross between a cafe and a restaurant, and has a colourful interior that yells "you'll get your greens here". We ordered the sweet potato fries with chipotle mayo and they were to die for! Absolutely delicious. The chipotle mayo was thick and packed with flavour. I'd highly recommend this option as a starter. Next, we tried the supergreen Caesar with crispy tofu cubes, the Buddha bowl and the powerhouse bowl. The supergreen Caesar was definitely the winner. The mixed greens, avocado, edamame, scallions, cucumber, sun-dried tomato, and sunflower nori complimented each other well to make this salad feel light but tasty. The tahini Caesar dressing was out of this world and totally unexpected. I asked for extra dressing because I found it was a bit too light for my tasting. Side note: the crispy tofu cubes were amazing! I'm not a huge fan of tofu but they were an enjoyable protein alternative that I will certainly have again in the future. The powerhouse bowl and Buddha bowl were both filling and flavourful, but we did not love the tofu steaks. They were lacking in taste and underwhelming. We will opt for the crispy tofu cubes in both of those bowls in the future. If you're a vegan, if you're gluten-free, or if you're just health conscious- this is the spot! read more

This is my review for their takeout service and not their dine in which seems infinitely better looking at the reviews. I don't know what happens at this restaurant but every time I've ordered, it's a bit of an ordeal. There's always a super long wait - there are always a gaggle of people at the front who seem upset and are trying to pick up orders; and I'm often somehow missing dressing each time as well. That being said, I do love their food. They do buffalo cauliflower like no other place I've ever been to, which is why I continue to order . I also really do love their super green Caesar salad as well - the sun dried tomatoes and tempeh bacon on it just make it heavenly. Guess I should just plan to dine-in instead. read more

I got the kale Caesar which chik'n (Which I never had before but it ACTUALLY tastes like chicken). my husband got the burrito which was filled with tons of flavor and textures. it was an amazing few bites I had. my sister got the power green bowl which she loved but wished she got the smaller size (As the larger size is HUGE and doesn't sit well for later). we also got a bunch of smoothies and kombucha which were all divine. the only thing abut this place is that the service is very slow, so don't come unless you don't have 2 hours to spare. read more

A great place for vegan dinner. It seems like a take-out place from the outside but when you walk in, it's actually quite huge with a lot of tables. I was initially impressed by their delightful servers, and more impressed with their food. As most vegan places are, price might be a little high compared to other restaurants that serve similar menus, but as someone who constantly looks for a good vegan/vegetarian place, this place will now be one of my favorite places to go around this area. I especially recommend their flatbread. I kept praising this flatbread while I was eating. The burger was also good, but I couldn't finish it because it got too salty towards the last bite. I always start my vegan restaurant reviews the same, "I'm not vegan, but..." I'm not vegan, but I don't mind the odd excursion into the cuisine. It can be hit or miss for me. I really enjoyed everything I tried. Four of us ordered pizzas, nachos, smoothies, teas and bowls that completely covered the table. We couldn't have fit another water glass on the table. The potion sizes are incredible. If you're going to try more than one thing, you'll be taking some home. They also have happy hour specials which are perfect for sampling. Loved the allegedly "mini" nachos that could have served as an app for the whole table. Lots of different flavors. Moved on to the sausage pizza. Excellent work. Very friendly service. I will say that this area is an utter and complete nightmare for anyone driviing in. It's so bad that I will warn you upfront in the first paragraph. Park far and walk... just dont even try driving in this area. Yes there's a green P nearby but good luck manoeuvring to it That being said, I will say that this is one of the best Fresh locations. More modern, open, cleaner, well maintained, and a nice patio to boot. This is a good spot for any vegetarians to take in a good craft beer, smoothie, and indulge in some good foods. It is NOT exclusively healthy where everything is 'raw' or some other eye rolling category. They're well known for their onion rings (one of the best in the city) and their battered cauliflower has a nice heat kick and taste. As for the service, far better than any of the older spots. There are plenty of servers and they're definitely not blase or bored here. They're moving, taking order, removing plates... all the good stuff you'd find in a normal restaurant. Buffalo Cauliflower - Yes it's vegetarian but you don't need to be turning your nose up on a great dish that has crunch, heat, and an indulgence of the fryer. It has that usual vinegary heat that you'd expect out of buffalo wings. The cauliflower is a nice substitute. 4/5 Green Goddess bowl - So their substitutions are a bit weird. You're allowed to substitute but only for more ingredients that are part of the bowl even if you want to sub in for something cheaper. So I got this thinking it'd be good without the noodle and more vegetables but instead it was missing a lot of the bowl. I guess they were using noodle as a complete filler. The sauce wasn't doing it for a lot of just steamed greens. The tempeh was not a good thing. Maybe if I didn't sub it would have been better. 3.5/5 For vegetarian food, I find this to be really flavourful, enjoyable, and low of the judgement. I've been to Fresh before (the one on Front) and while I really enjoyed the food, I wasn't particularly blown away by the ambiance. This Fresh was a different experience for sure. It has a classy vibe to it with dim lighting and cute decor that is a cross between a cafe and a nice restaurant. In terms of food, I've had a sampling of the burgers, wraps, salads, and soups from Fresh. The burgers are almost always guaranteed hits. They have great toppings and the patty is also really good. For me personally, I really like Fresh's salads. The 3-6-9 dressing is so delicious and for anyone that likes the sweet and savoury combination, you'll definitely like that. In terms of prices, you'd think vegan food would be a little cheaper than regular food because there's no meat but it's pretty much on par. That being said, I don't mind paying this amount for a nice ambiance and fresh, healthy, food. Although the texture is nothing like a chicken wing, if you closed your eyes it tasted just like a buffalo chicken wing. The sauce is not overly spicy, just a little bite towards the end. I can't say enough positive things about this place. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor (weather permitting) seating. Immediately upon walking in, you're greeted and seated. The menu is front and back. Simple and easy to follow. This is a vegan place, so eating here is easy for a vegan like me. The food was AMAZING. except the tofu scramble. My friend and I didn't like it. It had a weird texture and seasoning. But everything else was on point. The buffalo tofu wrap was just spicy enough and absolutely tasty. The burger was so complex and had great toppings on it. The fries were perfectly salty. We got chipotle mayo and dipped the fries in them. SO GOOD. The brunch food was also amazing. We got blueberry pancakes and they were delicious. The baked beans on the full breakfast plate were unique. I would have never thought to put those together but very well done. We came here for dinner over the weekend and had a really good experience. The restaurant was packed; the employees did a great job at getting everyone seated and serving guests in a really timely manner. They also take reservations in case you want to book ahead. We ordered the dragon sweet potato fries to share and they tasted really good. They use a miso gravy that tastes cheesy and delicious. As someone who is gluten and lactose intolerant, it is rare to enjoy something this cheesy and delicious at a restaurant. They even have a gluten allergy menu that makes it really easy to order something gluten free if you are celiac or suffer from gluten intolerance. We both ordered salads and were really happy with the portion size. I ordered the monster protein salad and it tasted delicious! It was loaded with tempeh, chickpeas, tofu, avocado, cranberries, adzuki, beans, red cabbage, grape tomatoes, and hulled watermelon seeds. My friend ordered a Thai inspired salad, which had an amazing Thai dressing. It tasted amazing and I'll have to choose the Thai dressing in the future. Sweet, savory, a slight tang and ironically, a mild cheesy taste. As cheesy as it sounds, it tasted very Fresh. Despite not including notes of meatiness, it was very pleasant. The Mushroom Onion Burger was enjoyable, if not, lovable. The vegan patty itself was slightly bland. It had the flavor of a falafel and crumbled like a beef patty. What made this burger enjoyable was the medley of it's condiments. Fresh aromatics and vegetables livened up this dish. The ingredients meddled into perfect harmony. By definition, vegan stands for VEgetables, Grains, Alternatives and Nuts (i think). I was skeptical on how desserts are made without eggs. These desserts tasted great. No issues with moisture. It definitely fooled me as vegan. Overall, my experience was beyond my expectations. If you want to indulge in an experience, Fresh is where it's at. #EatFresh. --- Will I ever convert to veganism? So I tried Fresh for the very first time yesterday via Uber Eats and ordered 2 of their appetizers and a salad for a late lunch. I've heard they're good and was excited to see how well a vegan place fares for their salads and dishes; I mean after all they DO specialize in vegan salads... basically anything that doesn't involve animals or their by-products. Right? Right. The delivery was right on time for the 30 minutes..so far so good. I opened the bag and immediately started some mental notes regarding the salad. Based on colours of the ingredients as well the presentation and the amounts given. First order: Quinoa Onion Rings Very well done and I would expect that coming out of a deep fryer (and in general). They were massive, cooked just right and had a super crunch. So far they def have me solded on the crunch factor :). It was seasoned very well and the onion inside big, plump and juicy. Second order: Dragon Broccoli. It had about 12 pieces of cut steamed broccoli that was lightly tossed in miso gravy ( I don't know what this is or how it was made) but it was weird.. chunky thick sauce sat on the bottom of the tray with steamed broccoli on top.. whereas other parts of the tray had runny watery miso gravy. In the centre was generous plop of hot banana peppers... the dish striked me as really strange.. didn't make sense of the flavors combined.. the colouring was off (green broccoli with a salmon coloured sauce and yellow banana peppers in the centre. Nothing was mixed in together. Flavours were OK 6(yeahh just OK) but the questions had me feeling "otherwise" for this appetizer. Third order: Big Salad. It showcased on Uber Eats as a large and colourful basic salad. Well it pretty much was however when I opened the lid .. there wasn't THAT much. It still had every ingredient, I still I felt as though a grade 4 could have prepared the salad. Nothing was tossed properly and so we had to make way as is. I also felt a little disappointed after looking at the food. Like really we spent $35 CAD give or take. And the only thing that fared well was the quinoa onion rings:) I didnt get to try their detox mixes. In my experience, the service has always been welcoming, kind and and competent until today at the Eglinton location. I deducted 3 stars for unfathomable poor service. The host was indifferent. The meal was excellent, although it was served without the sauce! The server did not return after serving the meal, until it was time to pay. I tried to flag down another server but was ignored. Tip options are like 18%, 20%, 22% or other. For goodwill, I tipped unearned 15%. I slightly regret not asking the server how much % tip they felt they had earned, and how much they feel should be deducted for their indifference and inattentiveness. read more

Hit and miss at this location, but it's still a go to spot which is why I gave it 4/5 stars. I've tried a lot of items on the menu but find sometimes it's over sauced or inconsistent? Pretty ok. It's packed in there and while I enjoyed it, just wasn't 100% my thing. I felt my menu item was misleading. I ordered squash tacos and they came with big pieces of fried squash. I don't want fried, nor was it indicated that it was going to be. So I was very disappointed as I assumed that as a vegetarian place I would be getting healthy options but then it came as squash basically soaked in oil. Not happy about that. The lunch service took quite long. I would hope that a spot near many offices would figure out how to get people in and out in an hour but that wasn't the case. So one of our colleagues ended up having to leave early. When he asked the server to box up his plate, she told him, "it's already on the plate about to come out" and seemed frazzled about having to box it up. I mean it's not complicated, just bring the meal back to the kitchen and put in a box. She immediately brought the check too, meanwhile my other colleague and I weren't leaving and would have felt like we could order juice, drink or even dessert if we wanted to. Let me start by saying I used to love Fresh. I have been going to Fresh for years, and have been to 3 of the Toronto locations on multiple occasions. This week I went to Yonge/Eg and was very disappointed in the new menu. They have jacked up the prices, which seems like they have been doing routinely lately, and reduced the quality. Overall, in a city filled with Vegetarian options it is making me reconsider where I spend my money. I used to get a combination of two things, together they would have been $22, which is pricey for the size but good. Based on the new prices it would now be $26.50. They are not offering more of either, just much higher prices. A 20% hike in prices seems steep for the quality. It is tasting more like a chain each time. More concerned with bottom line than quality or taste. I ordered a drink, and while they have a huge selection of fresh juices and smoothies, the ginger they were using came already juiced. Why are they not doing it themselves to ensure freshness? for $5 a drink, I think it should be fresh ingredients, not prepackages (we asked, but still bought it since I wanted some ginger). read more

It's pretty easy to be a vegan in LA and NYC - my two main cities - but traveling can be tough and Toronto is not as vegan-friendly as my usual stomping grounds so when this Fresh opened it made my life easier since I'm usually in Toronto once a month. Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays they do brunch and that menu is 5 stars where I'd give dinner 4. I'm rounding up to support vegan restaurants so more will open. (That said, they have honey and optional cheese on the menu which is not vegan (boo hiss) but at least they very clearly state which items those are.*) The scrambled "eggs" are some of the best vegan eggs I've ever had and I eat a lot of these. I put their hot sauce** on them to add a little kick and while it is spicy there's also something sickly sweet about the homemade hot sauce that makes it less awesome than it could be. (Work on that one, team. You can do better.) I generally get the Ace of Kales (yummy kale salad with nuts, green onions, avocado and tempeh bacon) and a side of scramble for brunch. Sometimes I switch it up and get the Superfood Salad and a side of cole slaw or I'll go for the Pancake Breakfast which is two pancakes (blueberry is my fave) & scrambled tofu with grilled vegan sausage. It's not a light meal but you are truly embracing the idea of "brunch" with this one. It's breakfast and lunch. Though technically it's all breakfast items. You're stuffed until dinner. Other notables are: -Quinoa onion rings with chipotle "mayo": decent portion (read: enough to make gluttonous me happy, probably too much for a normal person so maybe split them) -Chipotle Bacon Burger (comes with tempeh bacon and jicama) or BBQ Burger (bbq sauce, quinoa onion rings (see above), garlic mayo, napa cabbage, banana chilies, lettuce & tomato) - Bowls. All are good but my fave is the Buddha Bowl (marinated tofu cubes, tomato, cucumber, bean sprouts, & chopped peanuts tossed in Thai peanut sauce) They have an entire side of the menu devoted to beverages with an extensive selection of juices (excellent but not cheap) (the fresh apple juice is thick and delicious and tastes as though you are literally putting a straw into an apple -- yum, and with fewer broken straws), smoothies, shots, shakes and hot drinks/elixirs (My thing to do when I don't feel well is take one of the immunity shots in hot water or drink the "Ginger Fireball" which is listed under Hot Drinks. When I'm visiting Toronto in the winter, I need these and they are a Godsend. They've also started selling cold pressed juices at the front of the restaurant to keep up with everyone else. Also their coffee is decent (Americano). It's made to order and served with almond milk and it's pretty, pretty good. There is a paid parking lot a tiny bit south on the side street, accessible from either side. All you have to do is cross at the light and you're smack dab in front of the joint. Notes to the restaurant: * Vegan cheese has come a long way, baby. Some of the nut cheeses we have in LA (Kite Hill, Vromage and obviously Daiya) prove that you don't need ANY dairy in your "cheese." And nobody "needs" honey. Agave is fine. Stevia is better. You should look into becoming 100% vegan. ** Something is off with the hot sauce. Seriously. It's THISCLOSE to being great. Whatever you are putting in it as a sweetner needs to gtfo. ;) ***Most importantly, thanks for existing. read more

I couldn't be less of a vegetarian if I tried and yet I consider Fresh one of my favorite restaurants. Three words: Quinoa Onion Rings. So we walked into the joint at around 8:00 on a Wednesday and the place was hopping. (I suppose this explains why the service was disappointingly slow; we ran out of water about halfway through our respective meals but weren't given more until the cheque arrived.) Anyway, given that this is Fresh, we just had to start with the aforementioned Quinoa Onion Rings. Honestly, I think these might just be my favorite onion rings in the city. In fact, I'm hard-pressed to remember any onion rings I've ever eaten that I've enjoyed more. Crispy and enormous, this is what an onion ring should be. We ordered them with a side of the Thai Peanut Sauce, although you really can't go wrong with any of Fresh's sauces. (Curry Mayo is probably still my all-time favorite.) The one thing I did discover about Fresh a while ago is that if you're going to order a hamburger, order it as a wrap. They use an enormous whole wheat bun that's more distracting than anything else, whereas you can really taste each and every ingredient when you go with the wrap. So the monthly special was the Banquet Burger (almond and grain burger with grilled tempeh bacon, fresh "cheese" sauce, garlic mayo, dill pickles, alfalfa, lettuce, tomato, and red onion), which I had to try just out of curiosity. And indeed, it did taste remarkably like a typical banquet burger. It was maybe a little dryer than I would've liked, but that was okay because we still had some Thai Peanut Sauce left and I dipped the wrap in that. read more

I ordered a takeout rice bowl today and it was the exact opposite of FRESH. There were large chunks of rock solid brown rice and it tasted like it was leftover from yesterday's lunch. The roasted veggies were also disgusting and tsated lIke they were preared hours in advance. I am disappointed as I usually have good experiences ordering takeout and the food is alwas delicious. I ordered through the Maegan app and arrived to pick up my order at 1:08pm as indicated by the app as the time my order would be ready. I will NOT be spending my hard earned money here ever again.
