If you don't know already, Kupfert and Kim is the conventional trendy plant-based food stop offering allergen free menu items. I had a coupon so I ordered what I know is good, K&K Paleo bowl and tried something new, the cauliflower bowl for takeout. Staff told me the cauliflower was the bestseller, but I personally wouldn't order it again. The sauce was a bit too rich without enough oomph, and the pomegranate seeds, while they lend a bougie aesthetic, don't add much to the taste. Personally what made me feel better about it was adding some sriracha and apple cider vinegar, but maybe my taste buds are weird... you decide. The Paleo bowl on the other hand, was awesome. Should have gotten two of those instead. Just a nice mix of tangy pickled veggies and 2 sauces that go super well together--rich earthy and tangy. The sunflower seed balls are also epic, lots of umami. If you want flavourful, K&K Paleo is it, and I don't even care for it as a diet trend.

The pork and chive dumplings are a standout, bursting with flavor and topped with a savory soy dipping sauce. While the menu is simple, the quality of the food more than makes up for it. The atmosphere is no-frills, but don't let that fool you--the dumplings are definitely the star here. The service is quick and efficient, perfect for grabbing a bite in between exploring the bustling streets of Alexandra Park. It doesn't feel super safe as it's in a rough area but no one bothered us when we were there. Service was okay, nothing good or bad here to add.

P4 Pad Gra Prow - The best dish! We chose mild spicy, which wasn't spicy at all. We chose beef and extra shrimp. P7 Coconut Sorbet - Coconut milk ice cream, not bad, a little too sweet, and had a little bit of coconut meat. Mango Sticky Rice - The mango sticky rice was average, nothing particularly delicious. P8 Thai Iced Tea - A little sweet and a little too sweet. Do not take reservations for small groups. Ordered Spring Rolls, Pad See Ew, and Pad Thai. All dishes were really good. Spring rolls had more mushroom taste, but lightly fried. Pad See Ew had great flavor, not too oily or salty, and had great quality of beef. Chicken pad Thai had balances sweet, sour, and savory notes. Portions were generous, but expect to pay over $25 per plate. Mango Sticky rice good not great, since mango was super ripe to add sweetness. Plenty of coconut "sauce" to flavor the rice. Three sangrias may have been consumed before happy hour wrapped up. No regrets. Tragedy struck when I discovered my beloved Cobb salad has been removed from the menu. I pivoted to the katsu chicken salad, which was fine but couldn't fill the Cobb-shaped hole in my heart. My mom, however, was thrilled with her Mediterranean salad. The ambiance was lively as always, and our server was friendly and helpful with solid recommendations. The food was good, the vibe was great, and we made it to our show on time. I'll be back, but I'm still mourning that Cobb salad.

It says a lot when the nicest place that I could find in the area was a Joey's. Anyway, I sat at the bar and had a calming beverage and ordered their fish tacos. The bartender was very welcoming. All the ingredients in the dish were good, but somehow the salad and the tacos did not taste that great... the ratios were all off, a bit too much gloop and really unharmonious. A shame, because they had everything to make this a good dish! But, it's a Joey's, so my expectations are low. The place was an oasis of calm compared to the cacophony of Yonge & Dundas Square outside, so they're still getting 4 stars out of me!

This continues the 2025 alphabet series, C is for Cafe Landwer. On Tuesday, 6/3/25, we went to St. Lawrence Market; see my B is for Buster Sea Cove. Seems like we happened to go alphabetical for lunch/brunch as the next day Wed., 6/4/25. This place had good reviews. So, we got on TTC to Osgoode station and was a very close walk. It said established in 1919, so we thought it's a good sign it's been in business over a century; although not this location specifically. Their history in the 20th century was that they started in Berlin, Germany in 1919, but they were a Jewish family who ended up immgrating to Israel in 1933, opening their store there, and expanded locations throughout Israel. Their history in Toronto & North America (including some in the US) is much more recent since opening in 2017. Unfortunately, my closest is New York City; none in Maryland or DC area. This location is in busy downtown Toronto. We sat outside on their big patio area as the weather was warm and could enjoy the view of the buildings, people, cars, etc. Server was friendly answering our questions. I ended up getting an egg benedict with salmon in a croissant. It was creative and delicious take on egg benedict. The only issue was it was messy to eat in the croissant, but I didn't care as it was so delicious. My girlfriend got a Belgian waffle with blueberries, whipped cream, etc. It was unique and very good & sweet too as I tried a bite. Overall, this was a 5-star experience with great food, service, & atmosphere.
