I stopped by for brunch after it came up in my search for vegan options. They have a pretty wide menu, but the lighter brunch dishes I was hoping for (like avocado toast) weren't available. I ended up ordering the vegan poutine, which I've been wanting to try for a long time, and it was solid. I also tried their vegan hot chocolate, which was surprisingly good. Came here with a friend to grab some lunch!! I've been on the hunt for some good and substantial vegan food in Toronto so we decided to try this place out. You need to scan a vaccination confirmation QR code, which haven't seen at other restaurants but I appreciate the level of safety that they've incorporated here. Service was incredibly friendly and fast!!! Our food was out within 5-10 minutes of ordering. For drinks, we ordered the gin&tonic and the aperol spritz, both of which were really good but not very strong. Totally fine tho, as it was lunchtime anyways lol. For appetizer, we tried the crispy dumplings and they were phenomenal!!!! The mayo sauce they made to pair with the dumplings was delicious and I couldn't believe that it was all vegan! I also tried the chipotle chicken burger, which was good but a bit on the drier side. I wish the burger itself was more juicy and tender, but it honestly felt really salty and dry. It also wasn't as spicy as the thought it would be. I'd love to come back and try their tacos next time! I really like Fresh for fun vegan meals! I've been to the Front Street and Hurontario locations and was very impressed with the interior. This location on Bloor is quite small and doesn't give the modern / instagram worthy interior like the other locations. The seating felt older and perhaps this is more of a takeout spot than a dine-in. We were seated at quite a small booth for three people. We decided to order items to share. We ordered the buffalo cauliflower and quinoa onion rings because, DUH. We also ordered the nachos, crispy avocado rice and a mushroom pizza. I was a bit disappointed in the mushroom pizza. I understand it has a vegan base and toppings but when it came out it just seemed dull for lack of a better term. The crust was interesting and has some garlic seasoning on it and was crispy which I enjoyed. The pizza overall was tasty but I likely wouldn't order it again. What is was was: 2 handfuls of bagged lettuce, a handful of cuke and a handful of edamame. I could have bought these grocery items for $10 and re-created this salad at home for 3 days. My family and I have ordered a vegetarian meal in Canada Day for years. It's just our "thing," even though we aren't vegetarian. We typically order several items And share it family style. This year, items we got included onion rings (love the quinoa crust and definitely a must have), sweet fries, regular fries, steamed broccoli (actually, it was a modified dragon broccoli) and one of their new pizzas - a Margherita. It was the first time we had their pizza and I have to say that it's one of the best I've had, vegan or not. One thing about their menu: it's a bit old fashioned. Most of their proteins are soy-based and with so many people avoiding soy these days, you'd think there'd be more alternatives. Soy isn't the only plant-based protein. I'd love to see more legumes. Fresh is one of the pioneer of plant based restaurant. I had visited Fresh on multiple occasions. Burgers, tacos, shakes; you name it I had probably tried it before. There are items that are absolutely delicious and items that are average. My favourite items are buffalo cauliflower ($10) with spicy buffalo sauce, creamy ranch dip, hemp seeds and celery sticks and, bliss protein ($8.5) with tart cherry, banana, coconut milk, vegan protein, pitaya and coconut whipped cream. I Love these restaurants for their food and juices. The lineups and crowded seating is a bit annoying so definitely make a reservation. The options are so extensive for good and drinks....which makes me excited as I can eat here so many times without getting bored. Vegan all around and they offer a gf menu so you know what you can eat if you are gf. They have fresh juices and smoothies and also bottled juices too. They only accept the veg card for discount on take out, not dine in!!? I would like to sit, relax and eat, and still get a discount please The pricing is on the expensive side. My son has eaten there 3 times while performing in the fringe festival but can only afford the burger. He would love to have a juice/smoothie too. My friend and I visited Fresh on Bloor over the weekend and had a really good experience. We ordered a cold pressed juice to share and two entrées. We started our meal by ordering the Urban Detox cold pressed juice made with kale, spinach, parsley, romaine, chard, apple, lemon, ginger, and cayenne. It tasted really good and my friend described it as similar to a Caesar because of the kick at the end due to the cayenne peppers. We both really liked this juice. It's the perfect detox juice for people who drink green smoothies regularly or for newbies who don't. My friend doesn't drink green smoothies and he really liked this juice. I ordered the macrobiotic rice bowl and really liked it. It's full of good for your nutrients like sauerkraut and other ingredients that are really good for gut health. In addition to all of these amazing nutrients, it tasted really delicious. I choose the Thai peanut sauce as a dressing and really enjoyed my dish. My friend ordered the All Star bowl and he said it was good but he preferred the falafel bowl, which is his go-to dish. All over this location is really great. VEGAN OPTIONS - Yes. The entire establishment is vegan. I have been going to Fresh for YEARS!!! I remember when they started off as a juice bar inside Le Chateau on Queen St. They've since grown and expanded to various locations, but the food and the juice is still just as delicious and consistent all these years later. Over the years, I've frequented all of their locations, but this one and the one on Spadina are my faves. I've tried almost everything on the menu at some point, and the highlights are definitely the poutine, the bowls, and the crispy tofu cubes. I always order a side of cubes no matter WHAT else I'm eating that day. They are spectacular, and worthy of a 5 star review all on their own. Today I got the Buddha bowl with soba noodles and swapped the regular tofu cubes for crispy ones. Everything was delicious, as per usual. This chain is always consistent on the food quality and flavours. Service and portion sizes may vary, though. I do feel like the portions have shrunk over the years. I also feel like the serving staff doesn't always properly support the hard work being exerted by the excellent kitchen staff. Overall though, Fresh has been a long time favourite, and with the closure of Vegetarian Haven, it is now my top spot in the city for a full vegan menu. read more

Ordered the quinoa onion rings with miso gravy (as I always do) and when they came out I noticed the gravy was really thick and solid, like a gross gluey paste. It was not edible. I looked around for our server but she wasn't around. I ate the onion rings alone. When she did come back to bring the mains I told her about the inedible gravy. She offered some mushroom gravy instead but I said it's too late as I've eaten the onion rings already. This seemed to really put her off and she abruptly and rudely just walked away. Bill time comes and of course that nasty glue sludge gravy is on the bill. Unacceptable. All I did was tip less to cover the cost of the gravy, but still, terrible customer service. This isn't the first time something like this has happened. I messaged the restaurant about the terrible service and they didn't reply. Now that there are so many other good veg places in Toronto, Fresh has to step up. I wont be returning. read more

I am a big fan of Fresh but especially during the pandemic this location has been great. I have ordered both pick up and delivery, both of which have been ready way sooner than expected. In fact, I had ordered delivery and purposefully scheduled it after a meeting but it arrived about 20 min early. The driver was so sweet to wait to hear from me. Everything I've ordered (soup, bowls, burgers, apps, etc) is always delicious, comforting and well, fresh. I am especially a fan of the soup when feeling a bit under the weather, feels like a giant hug! And I always always order the quinoa onion rings. They are so crisp and flavorful plus they go well with just about any sauce (which are also so good). Can you tell I just really love the food here. It's also great for the spouse and I when we can't decide if we are in the mood for healthy or junk food for the night. We can both order what sounds good and enjoy the fact it's all plant-based! Tried goddess bowl and it's absolutely awesome! High carb with lots of (chilli?) oil on my brown rice and intense flavours. So filling after finishing my large bowl. I'd recommend ordering a large bowl, because any smaller size will just leave me craving for more. Sweet potato fries with aioli sauce is good, but not crispy. If you prefer with non-crispy fries, then go right ahead! The front desk hostess is so friendly on the phone when I called in to inquire my missing card holder. I hate how vegetarian spots gets a bad rep... you know the ones that have tough dry tofu served by hipsters who don't care about you or your experience. Not that Fresh on Bloor is flavourless or actively tries to be that way but the service here is definitely is on the 'don't care about you' part. The space here is much bigger than the Spadina spot with less crowding. BUT If you're seated by the walls, it's possible to be seating on another table's lap... and that's not an exaggeration. Similar to the Spadina spot, there was a HUGE wait on a Sunday lunch time. Sad thing is that they could have easily reduced it by actually paying attention to the tables. So many times we could have easily ordered in the first 10 minutes but we didnt get anyone's attention until 25 minutes later. We could have left 10 minutes earlier as well... but trying to flag someone done to get our cheques... good luck. Buffalo Cauliflower - A great starter as it's crunchy with a bit of heat and vinegar to keep it interesting. I found this version a bit more heavily breaded and more oilier than the Spadina one. It's close to the Spadina version but I would say the Bloor one was just not as good. Still a solid app and would probably order it from another spot. 3.5/5 All star salad - I tried a new one and I think the falafel salad is definitely the better tasting one. I'm not saying this one was lacklustre but I felt half the bowl was just plain quinoa which is good from a protein perspective. But from a taste perspective, I would have liked more sweet potato or tomatoes... something! I felt the original dressing was probably too light in flavour as well. I hit the vegetable with a bit of the hot sauce and it perked up the vegetables. Another thing, it is a generous bowl... I can easily make 2 meals out of it and it also costs $16 before tax and tip. Affordable for a single meal? Possibly not. 3.5/5 Black Bean Burrito - A Mexican take on their wraps, this one was filled with black bean, avocado, cilantro, sprouts, tomato, lettuce, onions, cucumber, and Mexican hot sauce. It also has a gooey sauce which they call 'fresh cheese'. Overall, this was a big portion. Definitely meal size and the burrito easily was 4 inches across. From a price perspective, it was a decent value.. you could make it 2 smaller meals if you wanted. As for flavour and texture, the addition of the hot sauce made it more than just a salad in a wrap. I felt this was a lot of soft mushier parts... I would have appreciated a good crunch to shake it up. 3.5/5 Swoosh power shakes - This is one expensive shake.. $8.50 for a medium. When it arrived to the table, it was more generous than I anticipated and with the ingredients of Peanut butter, dark cocoa, maple syrup, banana, cinnamon, and almond milk, I was anticipating a really thick shake. It definitely was and it was potently sweet as well. You can really taste the chalkiness of the dark cocoa and it almost felt like it had a big scoop of protein powder. The cinnamon and banana added to the sweetness of the maple syrup. Overall, not bad... $8.50 though? not sure. 3.5/5 I think the service unfortunately made the whole experience less than stellar. The staff pretty much avoided acknowledging you even if you did grab their eye contact several times. I'm not sure how this place keeps super packed with that and the slow service PLUS it's not cheap. I recently went to Fresh on Bloor for dinner and had a very pleasant experience. I typically go to the Spadina location but I've not had the best service there. So I'm going to start this off right away by saying that I'm not a vegetarian, have never been a vegetarian, and am actually quite fond of meat. However, we had some vegetarian visitors come to town, so we decided to hit up Fresh. It's a pretty small space, and is usually jam packed when I walk past. The menu is filled with a wide array of salads, wraps, and bowls of veggies over rice or noodles. My dinner here definitely forced me to become one with my inner carnivore, and come to the realization that I really don't care for things like jicama, quinoa or alfalfa. I ended up ordering the dosas from the appetizer menu. The dosas tasted more like vegetarian enchiladas than dosas. The crepe tasted exactly like a corn tortilla, and it was stuffed with a chickpea filling. Unfortunately the entire ensemble was pretty bland, so I ended up slathering it with hot sauce. Portions are huge - the salads could easily feed two, and the burgers are large and come with heaps of sweet potato fries. The corn bread looked really good - dense, grilled slabs of cornmeal. The vegan chipotle mayo tasted way more like yogurt than anything mayo or chipotle, but it's definitely interesting to try. They have a selection of wines and beers, as well as a large selection of smoothies. They have desserts too, but they are on the pricey side. The staff here all have very whimsical mustaches gelled and curled to fashionable heights, and were very calm and polite despite having to handle such a crowded restaurant. read more

I've been here a few times and like their food. Their customer service on the other hand is very bad. My two friends and I were told the wait would be around 15 minutes if not less, but we waited for 40 minutes until we got a seat. We ordered right away but it took another 25 minutes for the food to come. Now here's what I've tried: 1. Bread, olives and dukkah: 7/10. This was actually very tasty at first, but after the first few bites I couldn't have anymore. It's just too salty! I'd recommend getting this if you're in a big group of people where you won't have to go past a few bites. 2. Sweet potato with chipotle mayo sauce: 9/10. I love this so much. Especially because it's healthier than from other restaurants yet it tastes pretty much the same if not better 3. Macro greens with tahini sauce: 7/10. This was extremely healthy. The sauce and practically whole dish were green. I just wish the taste was a bit better 4. Energy bowl with brown rice: 7.5/10. I had the burger with grilled tempeh bacon, fresh 'cheese' sauce, garlic mayo, dill pickle, alfalfa sprouts, lettuce, tomato & red onion. Deeeliiiicioooooous!!!!!!
