Quinoa Onion Rings
Yoland E.

I have tried a bunch of different drink and food items at Fresh over the years, and my favourites have to be the quinoa onion rings and their hot chocolate. Be sure to get their quinoa onion rings during happy hour since they will be a bit cheaper!

Came here with a friend to grab some lunch!! I've been on the hunt for some good and substantial vegan food in Toronto so we decided to try this place out. You need to scan a vaccination confirmation QR code, which haven't seen at other restaurants but I appreciate the level of safety that they've incorporated here. Service was incredibly friendly and fast!!! Our food was out within 5-10 minutes of ordering. For drinks, we ordered the gin&tonic and the aperol spritz, both of which were really good but not very strong. Totally fine tho, as it was lunchtime anyways lol. For appetizer, we tried the crispy dumplings and they were phenomenal!!!! The mayo sauce they made to pair with the dumplings was delicious and I couldn't believe that it was all vegan! I also tried the chipotle chicken burger, which was good but a bit on the drier side. I wish the burger itself was more juicy and tender, but it honestly felt really salty and dry. It also wasn't as spicy as the thought it would be. I'd love to come back and try their tacos next time! The bowls also sounded interesting but a bit overpriced for something that could easily be assembled at home.

Came by for a mid afternoon pick me up and was very impressed. The juices and smoothies were fantastic, and the happy hour special is actually a steal. The hello gorgeous smoothie was a little underwhelming, but what do I expect for something with 20 different maca flax collagen supplements. The atmosphere was super cute and the service was fast. Overall, would return

I really like Fresh for fun vegan meals! I've been to the Front Street and Hurontario locations and was very impressed with the interior. This location on Bloor is quite small and doesn't give the modern / instagram worthy interior like the other locations. The seating felt older and perhaps this is more of a takeout spot than a dine-in. We were seated at quite a small booth for three people. We decided to order items to share. We ordered the buffalo cauliflower and quinoa onion rings because, DUH. We also ordered the nachos, crispy avocado rice and a mushroom pizza. I was a bit disappointed in the mushroom pizza. I understand it has a vegan base and toppings but when it came out it just seemed dull for lack of a better term. The crust was interesting and has some garlic seasoning on it and was crispy which I enjoyed. The pizza overall was tasty but I likely wouldn't order it again. I really enjoyed the other items we chose and the staff were so friendly and helpful. I ordered an americano and it was lovely.

Got this juice/smoothie from this place but it turns out having a rubber parts in it. I have no words to describe how I feel right now.

Got this drink from this place but it has a rubber thing in the drink. ( the green one). Not sure what is it but will never come back again. Just disappointing.

two plates of salad and a sandwich

Customer Service: The food took forever to come. Typically, drinks are asked a few minutes after being seated, but we had to ask after waiting so long. The water didn't even arrive until 20 minutes in. Staff took a while to take our order, then we had to wait even longer to get our meals. I understand that it was busy, but I expected a better level of accommodation. Aside from this, they were friendly and helpful Food: I ordered the tiger fresh bowl (grilled napa cabbage & power greens, crispy tofu cubes, chili oil, red pepper, cashews, sesame seeds, scallions, and dressing). I really enjoyed this vegetarian meal. It was very refreshing and tasty, but definitely something that could've been made at home

The "Eat Your Greens" salad with wilty microgreens. Where's my salad topper? Much smaller than expected.
Christine M.

I was disappointed with my take out order of "Eat Your Greens" salad. I was dreaming of Elaine's "big salad" from Seinfeld. I expected a deep/rounded take-out container that felt like a meal salad. It wasn't. The square dish was the size of a small plate and was so shallow. From the menu, the salad seemed to promise a lot. What is was was: 2 handfuls of bagged lettuce, a handful of cuke and a handful of edamame. I could have bought these grocery items for $10 and re-created this salad at home for 3 days. I didn't get any "salad topper." I got one small shred of napa cabbage. The tiny pile of microgreens, parsley, cilantro was wilted and unappetizing. Also, I added avocado for $2.50 and didn't get it! The base salad cost $15. I will take my future salad cravings elsewhere.

Cauliflower tacos
Pamela R.

I ordered the cauliflower tacos and they were amazing considering I'm a meat lover. The service was really impeccable oh, the staff members are really on point and the place wasn't crowded for a sunday brunch. I definitely will come back here to try out different dishes as there are a wide range of variety available to the public.

Margherita

My family and I have ordered a vegetarian meal in Canada Day for years. It's just our "thing," even though we aren't vegetarian. We typically order several items And share it family style. This year, items we got included onion rings (love the quinoa crust and definitely a must have), sweet fries, regular fries, steamed broccoli (actually, it was a modified dragon broccoli) and one of their new pizzas - a Margherita. It was the first time we had their pizza and I have to say that it's one of the best I've had, vegan or not. One thing about their menu: it's a bit old fashioned. Most of their proteins are soy-based and with so many people avoiding soy these days, you'd think there'd be more alternatives. Soy isn't the only plant-based protein. I'd love to see more legumes. A bean burger or falafels would be nice.

This bright an airy branch of Fresh at the N.E. corner of Bloor and Spadina, has adjusted its table spacing following the pandemic so that the safe health protocol distancing is in place. The food is delicious as the pictured Fresh Goddess Bowl of steamed baby bok choy, swiss chard, kale & broccoli, house-made taberu rayu, grilled tofu steaks, pickled ginger, sunflower nori gomashio, tahini sauce, served on brown basmati rice served in 2 sizes depending on your hunger.

Joyce L.

Fresh is one of the pioneer of plant based restaurant. I had visited Fresh on multiple occasions. Burgers, tacos, shakes; you name it I had probably tried it before. There are items that are absolutely delicious and items that are average. My favourite items are buffalo cauliflower ($10) with spicy buffalo sauce, creamy ranch dip, hemp seeds and celery sticks and, bliss protein ($8.5) with tart cherry, banana, coconut milk, vegan protein, pitaya and coconut whipped cream. Both are equally addictive! It's soul food at its best, especially if you are looking for something indulgent with a sprinkle of healthy vegetable.

I feel that the price point is actually very reasonable given the portions and quality of ingredients. A disclaimer that I've only tried their noodle dishes and not the sushi (I do like my seafood haha), but these are fantastic - rich in flavour without being overwhelmed with salt and sugar (the typical fallbacks for vegan food). Highly recommend the truffle fried rice and the Singapore noodles! The fact that the food seems to be relatively healthy (at least psychologically...) is of course a plus as well. The interior is fairly upscale, the dim lighting and elegant decor contributing to a muted but lovely ambiance. I do love a place that allows you to have a conversation at normal volumes! Service is always excellent without fail, the staff is helpful but not overbearing. A must for anyone who's vegan, vegan-curious, or simply searching for some great food in beautiful surroundings!

It said established in 1919, so we thought it's a good sign it's been in business over a century; although not this location specifically. Their history in the 20th century was that they started in Berlin, Germany in 1919, but they were a Jewish family who ended up immgrating to Israel in 1933, opening their store there, and expanded locations throughout Israel. Their history in Toronto & North America (including some in the US) is much more recent since opening in 2017. Unfortunately, my closest is New York City; none in Maryland or DC area. This location is in busy downtown Toronto. We sat outside on their big patio area as the weather was warm and could enjoy the view of the buildings, people, cars, etc. Server was friendly answering our questions. I ended up getting an egg benedict with salmon in a croissant. It was creative and delicious take on egg benedict. The only issue was it was messy to eat in the croissant, but I didn't care as it was so delicious. My girlfriend got a Belgian waffle with blueberries, whipped cream, etc. It was unique and very good & sweet too as I tried a bite. Overall, this was a 5-star experience with great food, service, & atmosphere.

We sat for a while and no one took attention (we were outside and they were busy but no excuse for them -- they should do better). We had folks come in and out and were somewhat nonchalant and not attentive. Food: This was the great part of the experience. - Berries and Granola with Greek Yogurt: My brother in law got this an he devoured it and said it was great. - Farmers Breakfast: My wife got this and she LOVED it. She went back to get their Halwah Latte (which she said was just OK) - Egg white Omlette Skillet: I customized my food and it was good -- for reference I've had better only because the cheese was feta and it was unclear that this was the only option as I don't love feta. Also I'm pretty sure while I asked for egg whites there was normal egg (i.e., eggs). If you order egg white make sure the server hears you. They screwed this up for me. This is why I'm giving it three stars -- I could have made a stink but didn't think it was necessary to do so. All in all -- I'd recommend this spot to folks but don't go there thinking the service will be great.

We ordered medium spicy for the papaya salad and it only had a slight kick. I wished the salad portion was more as it was gone pretty quickly. It comes with shrimp chips, pork rinds, and 2 small bundles of rice noodles. The dried shrimp in the salad was very chewy though, which made it a bit less enjoyable. I ended up picking them all out. We ordered spicy for the pad gra prow but it wasn't spicy at all. I think you can ask for the Thai chilis/ Thai chili fish sauce thing on the side but we decided we were fine with no spicy. Unfortunately the crispy pork was not crispy at all and was also very chewy. Overall it was still delicious! The Khao soi mightve honestly been the least favorite, but it was still good. It is on the sweeter side. The egg noodles were cooked al dente and had a nice chew. Sometimes when I get Khao soi it ends up being too heavy or creamy, but the curry for this one was thinner and easy to eat. The shrimp was the best part - super fresh and bouncy. In the end I thought the portions and quality were good. The service was also super nice, and it was impressive to see our waitress cover so many tables. The restrooms were also clean.

You get to experience a range of flavors and techniques, though the dishes lean more toward tasting portions than filling plates. We left a bit hungry, and the pricing felt high for the amount of food. The best way to think of it is as investing in edible art--beautiful, expressive, and memorable, though not necessarily hearty.
