I went for a routine cleaning today and had a new cleaning tech and a new doctor. I was told the business has been sold. I left without being looked at by the doctor. Overall, this was a very bad experience for me. I have anxiety about the dentist. Dr Cervantes was always gentle and aware and helped me better my dental hygiene. Today, however, the cleaning started, and I don't think the tech had even read my chart. After the cleaning, which was painful and I did not get a flossing or the normal medicine, I met a new doctor. If I would have known what I was walking into for this apptmtn, I could have mentally prepared myself. However, to walk into this unprepared with anxiety, was horrible. I went to my car afterwards and cried. I will not be going back. Ithink Bianca is still there and she is excellent with anxiety, but I felt so embarrassed and somewhat taken advantage of that I will be getting a new dentist. read more

I have been a patient here since I moved to Vallejo in 2019. Overall, my experiences have been very positive, but this time not so much. First, and of course most importantly, everyone that works here is professional, competent and likeable. And the costs are reasonable. That's huge. But I am wondering if their practice is now too large to accommodate my needs. Patients are strongly encouraged to book their regular cleanings 6 months in advance. That is routine, and I have never had a problem with my prior dentist changing an appointment and getting a reasonable new appointment time. When I had to reschedule an appointment for a cleaning scheduled for November 8,'22 I was given a new appointment for April 20, '23 - nearly 6 months in the future. There is a cancellation list, but I wasn't called until late February and ended up getting seen today ( I did get a call offering me February 17 but my husband had an urgent dental need so I gave it to him). Four months does seems to me like an excessive wait for a cleaning. When I arrived today for the rescheduled appointment at 8, the doors were locked. I did get in at 8:10 or so and the office was frigid. Never took off my coat and wished I had worn mittens and brought a blanket. The person doing my cleaning told me that when another hygienist arrived they would measure my gum pockets to see if my gum line had receded anymore (standard procedure). That never happened. I didn't mention it as at that point I just wanted to get back in my car and blast on the heater. It felt rushed like there was another patient ready for my chair. I sure hope they add another hygienist so I don't have to find another dental practice. read more

I just had my first visit here today and so happy I found a great dentist in Vallejo! Took me years to find but Yelp did not let me down at all with this one. From the moment I stepped in the office until I left everyone was super nice and friendly! I'm not good with names but the assistant that took my x-rays was very nice and concerned about the discomfort of the piece you have to put in your mouth while they take pics. She offered to allow me to take a break at times between the different positions she needed to place the mouthpiece. And the dentist that did my cleaning was super nice and had the most gentle technique I've ever experienced with a dentist! This was the best experience I've ever had at a dentist office! Just had a tooth extracted today by Dr Cervantes and I must say it was as close to painless as I possibly could have expected and I'm very grateful for that. I mean I couldn't feel the needle at all, the man is good, just a minimal amount of pain, practically nothing. The staff were friendly and pleasant and the Bill was lower than quoted and I thought very reasonable. I expected more pain in my mouth and my wallet. I understand Dr Cervantes and his wife are both Army Reserve officers. I was a 12bravo grunt (peacetime) myself so I hope to have a little conversation about that when I go back for cleaning next month. read more

***If you have fear and anxiety related to dental care, you must come to visit Drs. Cervantes and Prado.*** I have had debilating fear for years. I have suffered health problems due to infections related to poor dental care including dangerously high blood pressure. My first appointment was less than a week ago. I was in so much pain. Since then I have seen both Dr. Cervantes and Dr. Prado, had two extractions, deep cleaning and a filling and am no longer in pain - AND NEVER WAS IN PAIN DURING THE PROCEDURES!! Both dentists are attentive and responsive to patients during procedures and will give additional care if you are in discomfort. All experiences are different. However, I am someone who had a nightmare experience last year. A dentist who basically said suggested procedural pain was unavoidable with teeth in the condition of mine. I can say with Dr. Cervantes and Dr. Prado, I have experienced no judgment, tons of compassion and a team of folks who are creative problem solvers. They understand the system and how to meet your needs within those bounds. Today, I feel 100% better. No soreness or pain. My blood pressure is dramatically lower!! I have more work to do, but their back office team is helping me be manuever through my insurance while the Drs. advise of procdure in order of the negative impact on my health. I have seen patients from all cultural backgrounds come in and get the qualifed, empathetic care every person deserves. Which may sound like a given, but that has not been my experience. I came to this office after seeing a review from Tracy here in Yelp who described her experience and made it sound like this whole team goes above and beyond. I know now that is an understatement. Everyone here is so nice! They are VERY gentle and tell you step by step what they are going to do right before they do it. They have conversations with you to distract you from what's going on, cause we all know no one likes going to the dentist! I've only been in twice and they already memorized my name. I WOULD HAVE GIVEN THE DOCTOR FIVE STARS, BUT HIS STAFF REDUCES IT TO THREE STARS. I first met Dr. Cervantes at Hercules Dental in Hercules, CA., where he was practicing a few days a week in addition to his Vallejo office He is a very kind and gentle individual and a dentist that takes the time to explain concerns as well as offers treatment options. Dr. Cervantes left Hercules Dental and now maintains his practice in Vallejo. I called his Vallejo office and made an appointment. After rethinking the appointment, I called the Vallejo office and spoke to his staff with my concern as to whether or not my x-rays and chart were needed from Hercules Dental. I was told by the staff if I could get it they would like to have it. I also left 3 messages for Dr. Cervantes to return my call regarding a concern I wanted to discuss prior to my appointment. I never received a return call. I was told by the staff that he just didn't have time to call me. I have been meet with nothing but rudeness by his staff in Vallejo. I requested that my 2 insurance companies be called to check coverage. I was informed that the first insurance would not cover my exam since I had meet the requirements for the year and that I would have to pay cash for the appointment. When I asked if the staff had called the second insurance, the response was hostile and I was informed that I had indicated that I wanted to use up the first insurance. Does this woman have the ability to think outside the box? Common sense, which she apparently doesn't have, would kick in and a call would be made to the second insurance company. Instead of offering solution for a patient and working in that patient's best interest, Dr. Cervantes' staff just doesn't cut it. He's an outstanding dentist with a very poor performing staff who just happen to have a darn job. Sadly, I will not continue my relationship with Dr. Cervantes because of his staff. I don't want to have to deal with idiots on the front line to get to the dentist. read more

They've been so helpful over the last couple years with helping me figure out how to spread my insurance out to pay for all these of these ridiculously expensive procedures. They are always very friendly and they laugh at my stupid nervous jokes. The dentists themselves are pretty nice if a bit clinical, but I expect that from most dental and medical professionals. They communicate the situations effectively and answer all the questions I have. I really hate going to the dentist a lot, but I appreciate this place making the process less daunting and nerve wracking. read more

He and Dr. Prado are very kind and helpful with my children dental needs. My daughter and son get very nervous at their Dental appointment but both Dr. Cervantes and Dr. Prado handle the situation remarkable. Plus not too long ago my nephew had an accident and lost a couple of his front teeth. I was involved in a serious car accident years ago, that caused a lot of different, serious dental problems. I have seen numerous dentists over the years, only to have my dental health continue to slip further into decline. Of the many dentists I've previous seen, (none of whom were able to actually sit down with me, & outline a complete course of treatment, that would address my multiple dental issues), within a relatively short time period, until I met with Dr Cervantes. He took a few days to look over & weigh all of options available, for the many different, complex issues involved, & find the best, most cost-effective approach possible, for fixing all my ongoing dental problems, rather than trying to fix each of the issues in an ongoing, "piecemeal" manner, which, over the years, has wasted much time, work, & money, in addition to causing many more additional problems. The staff was friendly the place was clean but dentists work isn't about the building. They numbed me good I hardly felt the needle (excellent start), they tried to make me comfortable with sliding something between my top & bottom teeth so my jaw wouldn't close (very appreciative) considering they were doing a few fillings so it was taking a while. I kept feeling them kinda drill away which I thought was normal... Now the bad part: They were filling the drilled parts of my teeth & must have used too much filling or didn't properly clean all the drilled parts of my teeth because they were letting it dry & it felt rough like drying cement all around the teeth they worked on. They asked me to bite down on a plastic strip, which I did a few times, & they kept grinding away well they grinded so much that the only part of my top teeth (where they did the work) that touches the bottom teeth when chewing is closest to my lips. So 3 of my top teeth feel like this \ (not as slanted as that but you get the picture) opposed to my bottom teeth being flat on their tops to chew on & they kept asking me if it feels right. Well me being numb I couldn't feel it so I had no idea what to say. So they never felt the same since & I figure a dentist should know how to drill/refill & reshape your tooth so your bite feels closest to original as possible not ask me over & over if they should drill more because they can't tell if they did it right. read more

My two boys have been going to Dr. Cervantes and Dr. Prado's practice for that last two years. My boys hate the dentist. Actually I should say my kids USE TO hate the dentist, because these two doctors were truly game-changers. Before finding them, I trudged from dentist to dentist trying to find someone who could handle two very fearful and scared boys who at times couldn't even be coaxed to open their mouths. I saw many flustered and annoyed dentists who recommended I either find a pediatric dentist or have these kids strapped down and put down before any cleaning visit. I was a desperate and frustrated mom. Based on reviews here, I took a chance on Cervantes and Prado. They were nothing but accommodating and kind and gentle with my two boys (who were 6 and 8 years old during their first visits). My kids went into the back (alone) while I waited in front. I waited anxiously, knowing I would be called back to help soothe or convince one of my boys to cooperate. I've never been to the back. My boys walk out happily with clean teeth. They've even been back for fillings and x-rays (unheard of for my boys in the past). One of them still has a hard time, but the most the dentist has recommended is laughing gas to ease the anxiety. Dr. Prado also briefs me on the health of my boys' teeth and gums and we discuss goals for the upcoming visits. The front desk is AWESOME too. So kind and helpful. I never feel like they are pulling the wool over my eyes or up selling me for some obscure procedure. They are upfront and clear about all payments and procedures and are always willing to work with my coverage. So glad to have found this practice. read more

I started going to Dr. Cervantes in February. I had to have two teeth removed and a partial put in. They worked with me on every aspect of the procedure. I have a small mouth and they made the experience bearable whereas another dentist jammed a lg block in my mouth. My jaw hurt for days.
