I won't be returning to Galvin Dental. In fact I was disappointed by Galvin Dental services. It was quite difficult to get through or get a response. When I went in staff told me I might need to start over to complete 3 pages or more of paperwork. When I said No, I wasn't interested in doing that (before staff found my initial paperwork to continue) the dentist said something audible (under his breath) in Tagolog in a derisive tone. There was also rap music playing with inappropriate curse words! The dentist did appear knowledgeable, however it seems your office pushes cosmetic dentistry. My estimates were quite high, whereas the Berkeley "Refresh" dentist I went to yesterday had a much lower estimate including a treatment plan to save teeth your office was going cap & crown. Nice clean facility but the lady in charge is beyond rude! I was told that my son who has braces needs to have his wires removed for a standard cleaning. No problem I coordinated it since his orthodontist is only on Tuesday's and Thursday's and the receptionist knew this. Da Scene: About 2 years ago I ran into an issue when my dentist retired and a new replacement took over. On recommendation I was referred to Galvan Dental and brought my family along with me. Personal referrals have always held more weight for me... trust your bubble, right? Da Work: I have had various work done ranging from cleanings to crown replacement to a root canal and now I'm in the middle of an Invisalign process. Any concerns I had throughout the procedures were addressed quickly; Dr. Galvan has shown care and attention to detail. Da Service: Consistency is my fuzzy friend. From top to bottom the staff have been great w/ me & my family. Front Office are friendly and through with protocols keeping the office safe. Back Office has been accurate with billing and accommodating when my insurance needed additional documentation/paperwork. The clinical staff have been very professional and thoughtful, considering I'm a HUGE BABY and need extra/gentle care... I actually used to need "the gas" just for cleanings, but now, NOT! Really dig my hygienist - just the right amount of scolding when I'm not holding up my end while providing caring careful cleanings. Finally my current Invisalign process is going great and I feel well taken care of... will update when I'm through it. During first appointment x-rays were taken which were never shared with me. I inquired about teeth cleaning and was told it would be done at another appointment by a dental hygienist. Received a treatment plan and looked over it in greater detail at home. I had a few questions. I emailed and phone in my questions with absolutely no response. At that point I decided to find another dentist who would actually respond to patients. I found one and requested that Galvan send me my recent x-rays. It took over 3 weeks to finally receive them after another email, phone call and delivered letter. Not acceptable treatment of a customer. read more

Each time we come here, the staff are friendly and Dr. Galvan always has a nice bedside manner. They don't try to up charge you or do anything out of your comfort zone which I can really appreciate. Went back that Doctor spoke French behind my back, huh(saying good or xxxx?) 3. Dental Office is in a good location with parking although there are several other businesses in the location so the parking lot is full but I'm always able to find a park. The young girl at the front desk has good customer service but the front desk (manager?) is rude and when she hears the dental receptionist needing assistance, she doesn't turn around to assist. Instead she stays faced toward her computer, back turned to you while she's talking. It appears that she lets the receptionist take the heat of explaining costs and benefits. The manager is not friendly nor welcoming. I waited at least a couple of months to find out what my share of cost would be as each time I went to the office, I was told the system was down and they'll send me an email. Never received an email and my last visit with my daughter is when I received a quote about my dental procedure (outrageous) especially if wasn't for sure. For instance, MAY need a root canal but can't determine until the cleaning is done (huh?) In addition, my other daughter scheduled an appointment a couple of months out, when she returned home to go to her appointment, she was told it was cancelled because the doctor was out sick. The dental office tried to schedule another appointment two weeks later but my daughter had to return back to work in another state thus she was unable to be seen by the doctor. While I believe the Dr. Galvan knows what he's doing and is very honest, the front office manager is rude, indecisive, and unpleasant therefore I'll be leaving this provider and going to another with better YELP reviews. While the staff and dentists are very nice and informative, my issue here was the cost. I came here to get a quote and referral for my wisdom teeth removal. My quote came out to $3,600 WITH delta insurance. That's the price someone would pay without insurance. I ended up going to another dentist for a second opinion and now my quote is only $890.31 with insurance. So yeah If you're broke but in need of dental work. Maybe consider somewhere else if you have Delta Dental. read more

I stand by my previous review of this place: Don't go here. These people are thieves. Besides what I stated in my previous review, I need to point out that they charged me $100 for an x-ray. They only x-rayed the 2 teeth that were bothering me. Literally every other dentist will do a full mouth x-ray for the same price. I've received flyers in the mail and the other dentists I called for a second opinion all quoted $100 for a full mouth x-ray. To add insult to injury, the x-ray I was sent was purposely covered to just show the 2 teeth that were bothering me. I will repeat: do not go with the GDC plan. It's a scam where they inflate the price and then lower it with the GDC price to think you are getting a good deal. EVERYOTHER dentist quoted me at least several hundred $ less than the GDC price. read more

I came to them seeking to get my wisdom teeth pulled and cleaning. I was recommended to only get my bottom wisdom teeth pulled. After getting them pulled a friend informed that I should've gotten my top and bottom wisdom teeth pulled. At a subsequent follow up appointment Dr. Galvan told me I should've gotten all four pulled. When I asked why he didn't recommend that initially he said that he was focused on the tooth that was in pain. All my teeth were in pain and I expressed that to him initially. Instead now I will have to spend more money and more time off due to Dr. Galvan misdiagnosing my issue and lack of foresight. Or maybe this was on purpose. He could've and should've recommended all four get extracted. When questioned and affirming that I should've gotten all four removed Dr. Galvan then got defensive and loud. Dr. Galvan is basically the ONLY dentist I trust with mine and my family's teeth. I've seen many dentists before and in between visits (considering we live 6hrs away, totally serious). No other dental team has come close : "Chair-side Manner" - Dr. Galvan and his assistants ALL make it surprisingly comfortable and easy-going. I always dread the infamous numbing shots and drilling but I keep finding myself literally staring up at the ceiling wondering "Ok just breathe, the pain will only last a few seconds" and then they ask me "Are you ok?" "Uhh YEAH! You're done and I didn't even feel anything.. AGAIN #Winning!" I was so scared my 5yr old would go crazy and not allow any work to get done but he was good through his entire Baby Root Canal - and all by himself! No hand-holding necessary! Quality of work - Everyone's attention to detail is SOOO very much appreciated. Doc is always super thorough checking and discussing what's seen on x-rays and upfront about what needs to be done so we can decide what we'd like to get done per visit. Assistants are also very knowledgeable and comforting with their honest and yet, understanding anecdotes of what they've seen from other patients. Dental work is no easy-feat nor is it cheap so it helps to get a breakdown of what's needed and a professional opinion on what can wait and what needs to be prioritized. As for the root canals, fillings, crowns, extractions, Invisalign trays ~ ALL are done with that same care/attention to detail AND with quality products! Yayyy white fillings. I have been going here for years and have had a lot of work done, root canals, crowns, fillings etc. the last time I was in was 16 months ago before covid. I had a crown he put in that fell out and he had to re-glue it. They wanted to charge me $80 and I complained as I felt it was faulty work. They let me go and now 16 months later I got an invoice. I haven't been in because I wanted to be vaccinated before going in for my routine work. One of my root canals still has feeling and I mentioned it multiple times as the nerve should have been dead. I have spent many thousands of dollars there and to get a bill for $80 after 16 months with no previous calls or invoices that it was past due is ridiculous! I have been going to Galvan Dental for about 4 or four years. My last visit I got a temporary crown installed & fitted for my permanent crown. This temporary crown was crooked, shape was not right and the next day I felt it was loose and air pockets began to form. I figured the temp. cement must have worn off. It is one of my front teeth so I was always feeling it and the form and shape of the tooth stood out more than my real teeth so it was foreign. It absolutely affected my smile. I was concerned this crown may fall off and hello, its apart of my front grill- no Bueno! They do not even take Saturday appointments but Jenna offered for me to come in Saturday morning to examine. I went in to find out she was off but specifically came in just for me! Jenna, you are magnificent for going beyond your ways! Jenna is the best! She examined & tried to putt the temp. crown off but she it was in there pretty good. She then got it out to reshape and explained to me a lot about our gums and how it was swollen and it's reaction to the tooth. I never hesitate to ask any questions & she always answers them extremely knowledgeable. She even added a polish & I should try to make before & after photos, the TEMP. crown was SO much better looking & fitting. This place is shady on my last appointment for a cleaning they said I had two cavities I needed to get filled. I decided to go to a new dentist and after getting a dental exam they said I did not have any cavities. There is no way to explain that except for shady business practices. When I would go there Galvan would say have certain teach "on watch" if that meant they I was close to getting cavities why not just tell me to pay more attention to those teeth. I did even complain that I felt like some of the drilling I was excessive. When told I had a cavities I did say why doesn't that tooth hurt the reply was if the tooth hurts I need a root canal that not unnecessarily true. One cavity I was told was deep but they would not known if I need a root canal until they started drilling of course after drilling I was told I need a root canal that probably was lie and that's insurance fraud! read more

I agree 100% with Frank. I've been a patient of Dr. Galvan's for almost a year now. I needed some extensive work done, so I did a lot of research to find, primarily, the best price. I came across Dr. Galvan's office and, not only did I get a very fair price, I got, and continue to receive, superb service. "Dr. Philip" is an extremely competent and diligent practitioner who delivers care as if his patients were his family. Leia, his sidekick, is a blast to have around. She's hilarious and tells really good stories. Oh, and she's a good technician/assistant, also. Kristine, the Office Manager, handled my "stuff" expertly. My treatment plan was quite complex and never once did anything get messed up. There was never any confusion - she managed everything "smooth as silk". I feel extremely fortunate that I ran across this group of professional and personable folks. I tell anybody who want to listen how great they are. I have been looking for a good dental office in Vallejo and I am so glad I found Galvan Dental Care. Dr. Galvan takes so great care of his patients and everyone of his staff are very nice and helpful. I had a root canal and crown procedure done recently which I was pretty nervous about, because my other experience at a different dental office was not so good. However, Dr. Galvan made it so seamless and painless throughout both visits that I had noting to worry about. I even fell asleep during the procedure as he worked on my tooth. That's how good he is. The one thing I really appreciate and like about Dr. Galvan is that he is so informative. He takes his time to explain everything so that you can understand what is wrong and what work needs to be done. Another great thing many of us patients can appreciate is that during all procedures Dr. Galvan does he always gives you a warning in the process of it if you will feel a bit of pressure to let you know what to expect and let him know if you are feeling any pain. He and his staff always made sure I was okay and took great care of me when I was in the hands of their care. After my procedures they even called me to check up on me to make sure I was okay. That is a plus for me and shows that they truly care about their patients. I hate going to the dentist. That said... Dr. Galvan finally changed my mind on the world of dentistry. I went in for a deep cleaning yesterday (i know, i know..ouch!)...and was expecting to endure a painful procedure, but instead I almost fell asleep during it. I know, how can you almost fall asleep when you have a drill and two hands in your mouth? Well, Dr. Galvan and his lovely assistant, Leia, did a great job of numbing my mouth up pretty well and making sure I was calm throughout the whole thing. The normal healing process for a deep cleaing can be a bit painful, but just as the procedure, the healing is as painless as it could be. Their ratings & reviews were phenomenal, so I decided to give it a go. I've now been back quite a few times due to the nature of my teeth & necessary procedures. I can say without a doubt that they are by far the most compassionate, professional, and understanding dental group I've ever been to. Professional is a given, due to the nature of their work. But compassion & a family oriented environment goes a lot further in my book when it's concerning my health. On top of all of those wonderful qualities every dentist should have, there's just one last I'd like to mention. As a customer or patient, you are often subject to confusion with medical bills. I don't feel uncomfortable, or as if I'm being neglected when it comes to my bill. The girls break it down for me to where I understand every minor detail.
