This is such a great place in Cornelius! Loved the cozy vibe of a small restaurant. The menu is perfect size with all the familiar rolls listed. The service is extremely quick and efficient. All food we ordered was extremely fresh much alike the name of the restaurant! The chicken karaage was juicy and very tender, spicy edamame was great, the tuna melt roll was great and baby baked lobster was amazing. The lobster on top was delicious and crispy which made me doubt if it was fried but the flavours were bursting out of the whole thing! Would definitely go back to try other rolls. read more

My husband and I tried this place during our first date night in a long time and we are so glad we went here. The sushi bar is intimate and small, with just a few tables against the wall and the sushi bar at the front. I think it's a husband and wife who were working together tonight by themselves cooking, bussing and sitting everyone down, and despite that the service was fast and friendly. We got the spicy tonkotsu and the regular combination sushi rolls which comes with soup and side salad. The sushi was fresh and made to order. The ramen was not as spicy as we thought it would be, but my husband did appreciate the broth for how delicious it was. He said he did wish it was a thicker noodle but nonetheless it was good. Man, this place has been going down hill consistency wise. Inconsistent cuts on fish, roll where one piece is tiny and the next is too big for your mouth. Today's cucumber roll didn't even have seaweed all the way around it. Rice today seemed almost stale, a super weird texture. The one thing that is always good and always safe is their spicy ramen! Went out for an early Saturday lunch and decided to try a new-to-me Sushi bar. They have a selection of nigiri (fish on rice) and rolls, as well as a selection of bowls to choose from. I decided to order three nigiri (Salmon, tuna, etc) and a "Blackened Tuna" roll. The sushi quality was "okay", but unfortunately it was pre-sliced in the display case. Flavor was very "meh", not the greatest quality. Sushi should always be cut immediately before serving, not the "morning of" otherwise it just dries out and gets tasteless. Flavors were...yeah just muted. The fish basically had no flavor. In the roll, everything I tasted was the veggies and the sauce and cream-cheese, but the fish itself was pretty flavorless. Rice was "okay". This is a very basic order-at-the-counter "take-out style" sushi bar with counter-workers. These are not "sushi chefs" nor is their sushi particularly tasty. I'd say it compares to deli case sushi at your local supermarket. Meh. read more

The food was great. Just like any other quality seafood it's priced than takeout but worth it. It's is incredibly clean and neat and has a cute and bright atmosphere. The server was so kind and helpful, changing things up for my toddler to make it easier for her without us asking. (I.e plastic fork, small water cup with straw) she was very prompt and reminded us of the dishes as she brought them out. Visiting from Hawaii, tried this new place while in the area visiting my son in college, fish was not as fresh as we're accustomed to but good for the area. Restaurant and restrooms are clean. Service was friendly and quick especially since we were the only the second set of customers mid-day, on Wednesday at 1:30pm. The miso soup was good. The black-&-ahi appetizer was served cold as though they previously charred it then put it in the refrigerator to serve it to whomever ordered it. The ahi tower had too much mayonnaise unidentified squishy/mashed fish particles, the best part about it was the rice. The spicy ahi cucumber rolls and Spicy Shrimp Roll were good and could have been better if avocado was added. My husband liked the Gyoza appetizer. Overall I rated this place as a B, my husband rated it a C-/D. read more

I'm not going to say that I'm a sushi snob, but I kinda am... I've had both good and bad sushi here in the US and in Japan and have been looking for a sushi place close to home for a while. We had seen the "Coming Soon" banner for some time but it wasn't until my wife spotted a brief review on NextDoor that I found out Fresh Sushi had opened. We resolved to stop at our earliest opportunity and are we glad we did! We went in for for their lunch hour 11 AM - 3 PM) and got the lunch special (two regular or tempura rolls and a soda) for $15 and the pickled cucumber salad (sunomono). Out of the approximately two dozen choices, my wife and I chose a California Roll and a Hillsboro Roll. Everything was great! The salad was fresh and the sushi rolls were fantastic! I especially liked the Hillsboro roll (tempura fried tuna, albacore, escolar and avocado). The friendly guys behind the sushi bar confided that they change their frying oil every other day, so there isn't any of that stale, overheated oil taste to their food, certainly a big plus... In short, we'll be going back! Great place!!! read more

Definitely a place I'll be returning to! The restaurant does provide a mix of Korean and Japanese dishes on the menu to try which I like, as someone who cannot have seafood. The inside is cute, clean and the staff greets you with a smile! I ordered the chicken karaage which was nice and succulent (also fully cooked!). I was a little concerned about the batter I saw on it at first but one juicy bite cut by crunches of the batter were enough to sell me immediately. Only opinion of the chicken is that maybe if those same complete pieces were cooled then fried again before going out, they'd develop and even crunchier outside. The chicken bowl came next which was not my favorite thing initially, just because of how purely sweet it was. I didn't taste a hint of soy sauce or salt somehow for chicken teriyaki? I placed a to-go order yesterday. We got an eel roll and a spicy shrimp roll, two miso soups, cucumber salad and gyoza. Neither of us ate our rolls because they were packed on top of the soup which essentially steamed them. Warm, soggy sushi is not appetizing for me. The soup was ok, had a few bites. The cucumbers were pretty good. The gyoza was good. We might try it again but not any time soon. read more

This place just changed management and boy what a difference it made. The menu is filled with great fresh sushi favorites at reasonable prices. The sushi isn't just a rice bomb with a little filling, but is stuffed with the good stuff. Try the Hawaiian! It's amazing and refreshing on a hot day. They have Bento boxes which are in short supply out in this area. While I haven't tried them myself, if the sushi is any indication of its quality I would highly recommend a try. My biggest pet peeve of a such place is not having low sodium soy sauce. This place has it on every table, no need to ask for it.. Wow... New Management with a New Sushi chef and a New menu. New Head Sushi Chef is amazing. I heard his teacher was Hotel's Head chef and has been a Head Sushi Chef for over 20 years. The freshest and most delicious sushi ever! They even have Korean Fried Chicken with various delicious sauces. The price is reasonable and the waitress spoke fluent Spanish which was amazing. Very disappointed now. We have been going there since it opened and always very happy with the food. It is now under new management and no where close to being as good as before. California rolls have sweet crab (???) mix instead of crab or imitation crab The other rolls we had were not as good either.
