I decided to try out Fresh Thyme market for one reason: Boars Head products. I heard they sold them and then i looked on its website and it confirmed it as well. I love sandwiches and when I used to live in South Florida, I would frequent a super marker called Publix which sold Boars Head products. My local deli is good but Boars Head, at least the memory of it, felt to be just better. So I drove up to Fresh Thyme in late may hoping for some sandwich goodness. I entered and made a bee-line right to the deli. Yes! Huzzah! It actually had Boar's Head products. Poor deli lady had a large order to cut. I got provolone cheese, havarti cheese, pepperoni, genoa salami, different types of hams and turkey. I, though, was very disappointed it did not carry the jerk turkey which i truly adore. It said it did on the website but it was wrong. I was explained by the deli lady, they are a smaller store so they do not carry all the boars head products a larger one would. Also disappointing the deli has no prepared foods except some rotisserie chicken. Still I had my boars head stuff and with some nice pumpernickel bread, I had it for lunch everyday for over a week. You read right... every day! Store had a lot of other great products, so i made my weekly grocery purchase here. More pricey than I am now used to but well worth it. Love this place! This is a great addition to Fort Wayne grocery selection. It has a wide selection of organic items as well as normal items. The best deals are really the food items that are on sale in the weekly ad. Overall this is a great store, but the downsides are often the long checkout lines and some higher prices for regular items that are not on sale. Some of the best deal are 7.99 per lb of shrimps. Kids also get a piece of fruit free that they can munch on while in the store read more

I'm completely enamored with Fresh Thyme. There are a multitude of reasons why, the top being the fresh produce with such amazing prices. I generally do my shopping on Thursdays when they combine 2 adds, the one expiring and the new one. They run both ad prices concurrently that day. I find that the offer the absolute best deals on summer fruit, outside of, well an actual farmers market. The fruit/produce always looks amazing to the naked eye and the presentation is impeccable in my view. I like knowing I'm providing my family quality fruits and vegetables at an economic price. The store is always clean and clear of clutter. The staff is both knowledgable and personable. Everyone, no matter the area of expertise, is willing to either address your question or help you find the answer. They offer a large selection of organic products food and otherwise. I really like Fresh Thyme market. The fresh squeezed orange juice is pricey but brings back memories of when you squeezed actual oranges at home. Produce is very good meat is ok but there are several niche products that it is fun to explore. Overpriced fruits and veggies. Out of several things when I went, everything was old, bruised. Got some limes that literally tasted like cut grass, mangoes were flavorless and gross, almost every apple they had was bruised, wrinkled or soft, had no cilantro ( really?), tomatillos we're god awful. I find some of these reviews a bit odd, as I've had nothing but positive experiences at Fresh Thyme. Aside from their stellar produce, the prices are incredible for the quality you get (usually cheaper than Wal Mart and lasts 2-3 times as long). The staff have all been friendly and courteous to my two kids and I who visit at least twice a week, even going so far as to ask how my kids are when they aren't with me. My daughter was even given a free bouquet of flowers on one occasion. They even have a nice International aisle with items you'd normally only find in a couple of the Asian markets around town. I'm here once a week to pick up a quick meal option for class. Soups and salad bar section is always clean looking and fresh. I've picked up a terrible habit lately of also grabbing their sugar cookies, I dont even like sugar cookies, but now I'm addicted to them. Fresh Thyme Farmers Market has become a regular trip for me every two weeks. I have not been super happy with the produce section at my frequented Kroger, so I decided to zip up the road to Fresh Thyme. I was instantly impressed. Their bakery section looks extra fresh and their fresh vibe is shown with tons of glass space with fresh meats. The first thing that caught my eye was how much cheaper they were selling their chicken than other places. I was skeptical at first but all that went away when it tasted phenomenal! Produce wise they had a bigger, fresher selection that the Kroger I shop at. Some was priced higher but you could tell it was better quality. I recommend checking their ad to see what is on sale that week before going. For the most part I have only been buying up produce, chicken, and salmon. Maybe throwing in a few organic snacks. It is definitely pricey in the dry foods/freezer area than other groceries so I wouldn't recommend doing all your shopping here. They do offer a wide variety of brands that you won't see at other groceries and a HUGE selection of supplements and vitamins. NOTE: every time I have gone they are sold out of edamame. Which is a bummer because it means a trip somewhere else. read more

I love fresh thyme. It's my go to store for seafood meat and veggies. The best prices in town for great products. They are located off Coldwater with a large private parking lot. It's usually easy to access but with the construction going on right now it's a tad tricky. They are always clean inside the store. It's so well maintained that everything seems to sparkle as you walk in giving you a great shopping atmosphere. Staff is super super friendly. Except for today and I'll explain later. They always have stocked shelves. Staff is constantly replenishing because this store gets busy. With that tho it's still a breeze to get in and out fairly quickly. They have samples all the time. THey have a fresh olive bar, salad bar with hot soups and a deli bar. Want a quick lunch, they sell fresh made sushi, pizzas and subs made to order and then they have a small dinning room to sit and enjoy it at. They even have a few outside tables if you'd rather enjoy that scenery. And most of all make sure to stop by their bulk items isle and replenish your trail mix or granola mix and Even satisfy your sweet tooth. Their prices are phenomenal. And thursdays is double ad Thursday's and usually the busiest day. Tonight though was the first time since they've opened that I had the worst experience there. I wanted to get some fresh bread and I waited while the staff members had her head buried into her phone with her fingers tapping feverishly on the screen. I made a few noises so she knew that I was there and she didn't care to look up. So I gave up and headed to the meat counter where I received the normal friendly service with a smile. This woman was great and I wished I was able to see her name tag because she was so friendly and accommodating. I gather the rest of my items and head to the check out where Jahred was the cashier. Right away I noticed his gum chewing with bubble popping and snapping going on the entire time he helped me. I went to swipe my card and the machine wasn't working. He was frustrated with me when my card wouldn't scan. It kept saying remove card remove card and beeping st me. He kept saying "its been doing that all night. You need to insert my your card !" Um.... I have been it's not working. I was getting frustrated because I was doing what he told me but it wasn't accepting my card or doing anything but beeping and saying remove card. Finally I told him he must have to do something on his end and when he finally did I was so ready to get out of there just to stop hearing his cow chewing maneuvers on that piece of gum. Next time I go which will be later this week I will be sure to avoid Jahreds lane and go to the cashiers I've seen since the day they opened. This is a must stop grocery store!! read more

Well, I went to Fresh Thyme for the first time last week. They have a wide variety of natural and organic items. I was quite impressed with their variety of bulk items, too. If I bought in bulk, it would be a regular destination for me. I understand the appeal for those who buy all organic produce. Personally, I can't afford it, although I always buy fresh produce and fish. I'm not a frozen/processed food consumer. So, for my money Meijer is a smarter choice. I was really excited about Fresh Thyme when it opened here because I was thinking it would be like Whole Foods, which I had when I lived in South Florida. For the most part, Fresh Thyme is like a Whole Foods, but it's more like a step or two up from the nicer Krogers here. Yes, there's a great selection of organic foods, health foods, organic / natural beauty items, etc., but it's lacking in a few areas that Whole Foods had. For example, their prepared foods section - where you can get a pre-made sandwich - the options for what you can put on the sandwich are very limited. Not to mention, you have sandwiches or pizza; that's it. Everything else like the salads or soups are prepackaged; I had hoped they would have like a huge selection of made-to-order items like stir-fry, etc. There's a lot of the items in the dry / canned section that they sell the exact same thing of at the nicer Kroger, but for a little bit more. So that's disappointing too. And I thought that section would be much bigger than it is. Great selection of produce, with equally great prices on produce! Even organic produce is very affordable here. Meats are reasonably priced as well, and sales are a-plenty. The carnivores in my house are always happy with the selection at Fresh Thyme. Prices are about average with other stores in the area in regards to boxed/canned/bagged foods. Some items (specifically gluten free pastas) are cheaper than other Health Food Stores, but still double the cost of Gluten Free options found at Aldi. Store is always stocked, and staff is kind enough to check the back for items that may be gone from shelves. Rain checks are available as well at checkout, if you ask for them. Staff is easily approachable and helpful, and great with my little shoppers. ;) Love this store, and shop here often! read more

I was in the Fort Wayne Coldwater Road store today and wasn't pleased with the service. I first asked the young lady in health aids if she had anyCitrical. She said she had never heard of it and I said I was surprised. She then went into a tangent about 2000 products in her department and she couldn't know them all. It wasn't what she said but her demeanor that I didn't like. She didn't offer to help me. Then I ask about the collagen peptide that was on sale. All I could remember was peptides, but instead of getting the add, she seemed annoyed that I wasn't making myself clear. I told her they were 2 for 1 and she figured it out. Another lady asked for help and she rushed her to the same isle and walked away, they lady was roaming around and couldn't find what she needed. Both times the worker rushed back to talk to another worker. The lady that helped me at checkout was a bit short as I didn't hear what she said and asked again and popped off a bit. I love your store and have never had any problems before. I ended up apologizing and it didn't feel good. I hadn't done anything wrong. I'm hoping this was an isolated incident or a full moon! Nothing really special here. Store was clean, and the employees friendly, but many of the items are the exact same ones you can get at a store like Meijer, just more expensive. Meat counter was nowhere near as nice, nor the selection near as large, as Fresh Market. Produce selection was nice, but surprisingly basic. No beer or wine. Seems like the type of store that should be in a residential neighborhood, not in a high traffic shopping area by Glenbrook Mall. Probably wont be back. read more

I didn't really care for this place. I mean if you live in Fort Wayne, and this and the Health Shoppe is all you have, then I guess you love it. However, I did like the Health Shoppe better. This reminded me so much of Sprouts. It is trying to be a health food store, but I don't know what it is, it lacks substance or heart or something? I think what it is, is I would prefer a bigger organic fresh and frozen vegetable section. They had some, but it mostly seemed non-organic. I really preferred the Health Shoppe in Fort Wayne over Fresh Thyme even though it was smaller. It seemed more authentic and genuine and despite being tiny, I loved their selection. read more

The store was ok. There are a lot of items in the store that should not be called "natural" or "local". They are pushing the definitions of those terms with the use of preservatives, nitrites, food color and "local" from Minnesota! When I asked if the salad bar was organic the employee acted like she didn't want to tell me or like it was confusing some how. She ended up saying "some of it is but I don't know what part is". So the answer is no...not organic. We have better local options that have been here for years. read more

This is one of my very favorite stores. The employees are always very friendly and there's quite a good variety packed into this store. The produce, which is a very large part of my shopping, always looks so good. The prices are quite good, as well. The store isn't huge, which is great for those of us who have a disability. I detest going into the very big super-stores. The only downside for me is that while it is within walking distance of my home, (I don't have a car), there is no safe way to get across Coliseum Blvd if you're a pedestrian. This means I can only shop at this store if I can find a ride with someone who happens to be going there. I'd shop at this store every week if I could get there on foot without taking my life in my hands. read more

Based on price alone, Fresh Thyme is not a place I shop on a regular basis. However, they usually have good prices on produce and other good sales. The only problem I've had is that they keep discontinuing or consistently not stocking items that I used to go specifically to Fresh Thyme for (garlic cheese curds and their fresh cheddar muffins, for example). I take 2 buses to get to Fresh Thyme. Yeah, it's that good. They have a wonderful selection of excellent quality, fresh produce, and their meats and seafood are outstanding. Great deals, too. If you download their app, you can get their weekly ad and deals right on your phone. Their weekly ad comes on Wednesday and is good through the following Thursday. Every Wednesday is "double ad savings day", so you get deals on items for last week and coming week, too. Occasionally, they even have a deal for $5 off a $25 or $30 purchase. They have fresh almond/peanut butter, vinegar, oils, honey, etc., and a wide selection of bulk items, as well. I can get spices and grocery items at Fresh Thyme that I can't find anywhere else in Fort Wayne. The store is always clean, and the service is excellent. The employees are very helpful. I went when it was first opened a couple times. It was packed you could barely get through the isles and lines were long. I guess that's to be expected but annoying. Parking was awful and it's almost dangerous walking out the front door. There is no sidewalk leading to the parking lot on the north side of the building. Nothing really special about it. We avoided going here for the first few weeks, due to the way people tend to mob a new store. When we eventually went there we found it to be very clean, bright, fully stocked and constantly in the process of being restocked. We now shop there at least once per week and in that time I've only found one product out of stock - and they may have been about to restock it. I've found that half the staff are great. Happy, friendly and easily approached. The other half seem....well....not so approachable, let's leave it at that. The produce is good, some a tad over priced but they also have great specials too. The bread is fresh baked and very good, it really doesn't keep well at all however, but tastes great on the day. The only thing I've tried several times and just don't like is the sausages. They have several styles, all made in store I believe, and some very interesting combinations too. However, the fat ratio just isn't right. No matter how you cook them they end up rather dry. Which is a shame as I cook with sausages a lot. The bulk bins are fantastic, great range. The oils, coffee, salad bar and sushi station are really good too. I like the options at the store and everything is reasonably priced for organic foods. I wasn't impressed with the staff. We stopped in after a dinner in town so it was around 8:50pm that we came in. As we walked in a lady was vaccuming, no hello as we came in? After waiting at the deli isle we were told the deli had closed at 9, even though we where there a little before 9, why could we not be helped? Why where there no deli hours posted? Upon finishing our shopping it seamed that ever where we turned we where imposing on staff restocking shelves. One guy flung a cart right in front of me, no excuse me or nothing. I was looking in an isle of fridges another worker cut walked right in front of me and started moving around all the bottles. I could have walked out spending a lot more, but seemed like all the workers cared about was closing and hour early. read more

Pros: 1) The bulk section is pretty great for Fort Wayne. Lots of grains, nuts, and even bulk candies. Usually well-stocked, and pretty clean. 2) The employees are nice. I've had really great help from people in the bulk and produce area, at check-out, and also behind the seafood counter. Once, three times in the same trip, I wanted to know something that wasn't specified on the signage, and all three times (in bulk, produce, and seafood) the staff went to find out and came back with friendly answers, not seeming annoyed or rushed at all. It really impressed me, and I appreciated their efforts. Cons: 1) The location. It's okay, except for how the parking lot is ridiculous to enter and exit. You have to plan your whole trip around which street and direction to pull in and out. That's a little thing, but it begins and ends the whole experience. 2) The ready-made breads in the bakery area are underwhelming. The baguettes for example look lovely on the outside, but lack in texture and taste. I'd rather pay a little more and get decent bread than have to plan a second stop at the nearby Panera to get something less dry and tasteless. 3) The name says "Farmers Market" but there's not a very local feel. Overall, not bad! But could be better. read more

This store is horrible. I wish that I liked it since I buy the sorts of products sold there all the time (at better priced more friendly places). My reasons for hating Fresh Thyme so very much is two-fold. First reason is their prices; they are terrible. It is more the kind of prices you might expect from a local small business health food store simply because such stores don't have the buying power that a big chain store would have. But this is a big chain store so such high prices are inexcusable. They obviously simply come down to one thing, pure greed. This store chain tried to promote itself as being a place to buy affordable health food and natural products, which they are not considering how dreadful their prices are. There is plenty of local sources for some of the same products, much much cheaper. My second reason for hating Fresh Thyme is the experience every time I go in there. I am not able to browse the store in peace. I am being constantly pestered by people who work there, trying to, "help me", in a very high pressure annoying kind of way. What is worse about this is there is a lot of people who seem to work there, so many that it seems like every few minutes one of them is pestering you to try to, "help you". It becomes an experience where just spending any time in that store makes me feel angry. Why should I want to shop in a store that leaves me feeling like that. A third reason the local Fresh Thyme here sucks is their parking lot is dangerously too small and tight for how many cars park there. When I did park there I felt scared for my car. After that I parked across the street at the mall and walked over from there, which worked much better. But since then I realized going to Fresh Thyme at all is pointless since it is such a bad place to shop. Their only advantage is that for Fort Wayne they do have more selection of the sorts of stuff they carry. But if you are willing to settle for less selection, but still reasonable selection of the same kinds of items, there is other sources for about 40% less money locally, and you won't end up feeling annoyed by the high pressure sales tactics that Fresh Thyme seems to employ. read more

I really enjoy shopping at Fresh Thyme. I always shop on Thursday to take advantage of 2 weeks of deals. The staff is friendly, helpful and nonintrusive. Great deals on produce! They make their pork and chicken sausage in-house. We have had both and they are delicious. I bought the chicken parmesan sausage from the meat department, got some roasted garlic and sun-dried tomatoes from the olive bar, added it to spaghetti sauce and BAM, DELICIOUSNESS! They have a huge selection of essential oils, vitamins and supplements. Great selection of wines and beer, local and international. Their parking lot isn't huge, but I haven't ever had a problem parking or feeling safe walking in the parking lot. I have never been there on a Saturday, that might be another story. I would give them 5 stars, but I recently had an issue that left a bad taste in my mouth. I was leaving their building in my vehicle (a Nissan Pathfinder) and heading towards the Coliseum on Coliseum Blvd. I had literally just started to turn right when I hit a HUGE HUGE HUGE pothole. I am not sure how I managed to not see it, but my kid literally flew up into the air (yes, he was in his booster and strapped in, thank goodness!!). We laughed at first because it was so comical, and now that I know it is there I pay close attention & there is always someone else hitting that darn thing; keep in mind I was in my Pathfinder... I can't imagine hitting it in a car!!! The next day, I had an issue with my tire that hit the hole. There was a very slow leak happening and of course, I immediately thought about the incident. I went into the store to talk about it with a manager. I admitted that I was not sure who's responsibility it was to fix that stupid thing (mind you, this was a month or so ago and it is still not fixed). I explained how bad the hole is. They took my number and I was told I would be contacted by the building manager or something. Well, surprise surprise, I was never contacted by anyone. I ended up taking my car in to get the tire fixed (thank goodness it was under warranty). I just would have appreciated a call from someone, even if the pothole isn't their responsibility. Someone needs to fix it!!! I still shop here, because they have lots of healthy options for my kids who have to be GF and cannot have artificial food dye. But I shop there based on that alone. Their cashiers are usually not very friendly (with he exception of one or two), but at least the store is clean and there are lots of options. I did just discover Earth Fare, which I may be at more now, however their employees are cranky too. read more
