This place is legit! We randomly found them on the yelp map and decided to try it out! So glad we did. We had the large garlic seafood boil and it didn't disappoint. The crab, shrimp, sausage, eggs, potato, and corn were all perfectly prepared and seasoned! We only had a little to take home but the leftovers didn't last long the second we pulled in the driveway. Wife and I went to this eatery for the first time today. Very please with our meals. We actually tried to go and eat in, two weeks ago. But it was a Sunday, and they do a buffet on Sundays. We couldn't get near the place. So we called in an order today, and my wife picked it up on her way home from work. My wife had the dark meat chicken dinner. She doesn't do seafood. As her sides she had a double order of hush puppies, and regular fries. She doesn't each Cole slaw either. Not sure what is wrong with her. I had the 3 piece seafood dinner, with fish, scallops, and deviled crab. My sides were hush puppies, Cole slaw, and fries. The food was excellent. Plentiful and lots of flavor. My wife said her chicken was the best she has had, since we moved here 6 years ago. My seafood meal was really good also. The filet of fish was cooked perfectly. And they gave me plenty of scallops, and a large deviled crab. The sides were good and tasted fresh made. As did everything on our plates. The meals reminded us of the great church dinners we loved when we lived in Md. You can tell, the people who prepared the meals, cares about what they are doing. The lady who took my phone order, and waited on my wife, very pleasant. She was welcoming and proud of their business. That means a lot. Why not 5 stars? Well the place is difficult to find. And is truly just a fresh fish market, where they serve good meals. If we hadn't heard such good things about their food previously, we would not have stopped there. But very glad we did. The seafood part was cooked perfectly. I got the shrimp and flounder with rice. The rice was not cooked very well..had a lot of hard pieces in it. Get the fries instead of the rice. My Papa got a small seafood platter to go. He got shrimp, perch or spot fish, and oysters with fries. The hush puppies were amazing so was the coleslaw. I normally don't eat coleslaw but I would definitely get it again. It is to go only except on Sunday. I have heard great reviews from neighbors about their buffet. The freshwater fish company is a little restaurant that I went to today with some co-workers just outside Conway, SC. This is one of those hole-in-the-wall joints that you're driving down the road and you see it you think why would I stop there. Luckily for me the people I was with knew about it already and that's why we went there. It's not only a fresh fish market but it is also a wonderful restaurant run by a lovely older couple who have the best selection of fresh fish crab among other items. I decided to go for the buffet lunch which included items like fresh tilapia fresh smelt fresh Fried Chicken all kinds of side dishes rice beans coleslaw. I paid $6.99 for an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet. Now keep in mind it is all fried food so it's not good for you but hey it was amazingly prepared so I loved it. After seeing the delicious looking pics on FB I decided to try out the crab leg boil. And it was delicious!! I ordered at 3 by phone and they told me they would not be ready for an hour. When I got there I waited maybe 25 more min. If you want quick this is not the place for you. But if you want GOOD seafood this IS the place to go. There is a small kitchen and this is REAL COOKED like mama cooks food so there is a wait but I didn't care. There was 6 of us waiting on orders and they can only cook so fast! Was it worth the wait??? YES!! Everything was perfect and Hot! I got old bay seasoning and garlic. The restrauant is nothing fancy and you will miss it if you are not looking but the people working there were super friendly and the man behind these great crab leg boils even remembered I had asked a few questions on FB!! If the wait bothers you call ahead and order. I ate every bite! It was good I may go back tomorrow for more!! read more

Not much to look at from the road, We actually passed it because of its unassuming facade. The interior was just as unattractive, it felt like an urban community center kitchen with mismatch chairs, non-descript tables, and tables that were covered with an assortment of mismatched table cloths. The next thing we noticed was the odor of fish. There was an ice tub/counter with the days' catch that was full of ice and fresh fish, but the prep counter was filthy and probably the source of the unappetizing smells. There was also a quarter filled aquarium on the service counter that was full of algae and probably had some live fish in there, but couldn't see any. The person behind the counter was sullen and not very friendly or welcoming, but the price was very reasonable for a seafood restaurant. It's not billing up to a high rating at this point due to the above conditions thus far. We were on a road trip and we were trying to get an affordable yet tasty meal on the run, big miss here. It took nearly 45 minutes from the time of ordering to delivery and we were the only customers. Food finally arrived and we took it to go. I ordered crab cakes dinner with sweet potato fries and coleslaw, it also came with 4 hush puppies. The crab cakes were tasty, tender, full of crab meat and quite savory. The hush puppies were hot and fluffy, but that ends the positive observations of this combination. The sweet potato fries were wet and soggy and lacked any real attention to flavor. The coleslaw was overly sweet when it really did not need to be with copious amounts of dressing and raisins. This may be a regional preference, but not one that I would want again. My wife ordered the fried scallops with rice and the scallops were seasoned very well, but a bit over cooked and were a little chewy. The rice was also over cooked but seasoned well. Same coleslaw issue. Overall impression was that given a choice to eat here again, the negatives far outweighed the positives. Poor and unwelcoming service, shabby exterior and interior, uninviting ambiance, and food that could have been fast and fabulous was merely slow and less than average. It took quite some time but that was expected and worth the wait. The first sensation was that everything was piping hot. Cole slaw was superb with raisins. Fries were outstanding. Great food in this little out of the way place. The food was fresh and hand made. Kids had cheeseburgers and ate every bite! Hand patted meat. Fish was fresh and hand battered, Cole slaw was great with raisins that added just the righr amount of sweetness, crab cakes that wasn't bread. We had the opportunity to meet the owner and chef. Me and my family stopped by this restaurant heading to the beach and it was AMAZING. I live in New Orleans and my expectations are always very high when it comes to seafood. Well, the owner greeted us and he accommodated us even though he was transitioning to dinner. He cooked for us and the food was incredible. He even gave us complimentary seafood items because we had to wait a bit for our food to come out. It was worth the wait! His whole family was very kind and attentive. Fried seafood (I had flounder; my boyfriend had oysters), sweet potato fries, coleslaw with raisins, hush puppies. I don't know if they also grill the fish instead of fry it; they didn't ask us how we wanted it. :) You order your food at the kitchen window and seat yourself, pour your own drink (which we thought was just fine/relaxed; just be aware). Our two meals were about $20, which we thought was a great deal. Plenty of fish on our plates. You can also buy uncooked seafood by the pound to take home and cook. Fish and prices looked good. I gave it only four stars instead of five because when we walked in, we just stood there for several minutes by the front counter without being greeted by any of the three or four people working there (they were not at all busy; there was a two-top about to leave and one woman waiting for a to-go order). Finally, one woman walked back into the kitchen, came to the window and nicely, with a smile, hollered at us: "Y'all want to order some food?" So we walked over to her and did just that. After we started eating, that same woman, from the kitchen window, asked us if we were all right. I don't want or expect to be smothered by servers, but I would have appreciated a "Hi! Welcome! Aside from the buffet they have other things you can order, like cheese burgers, chicken tenders, porkchop sandwiches, catfish nuggets, and more. The best hushpuppies I have ever tasted! Searched Yelp for seafood reviews near Conway for a Sunday afternoon (230 pm). Exterior of the place says "drive on by" but parking lot full so we u-turned and took the chance. Restaurant was filled with Sunday church diners enjoying an extensive buffet for $8.99 (I think). We wanted fish so walked to kitchen prep counter & were told "whatever we want." Our fried flounder & shrimp were hot & delicious. Plastic forks, paper towels & decor from run-down-ago except for flat screen showing CNN. Staff kept us updated on food cooking as buffet was hopping & refills constant. But the building, unused fish counter & general down graded appearance may put some people off. We watched one couple walk in, glance at buffet & walk out. But food was good, staff friendly (although cashiet could work a little harder at greeting & informing patrons as they arrive). It was clear this is a place for locals...but we enjoyed our lunch. read more
