Veggie Paradise specialises in Veg take-out (call ahead), Frozen/Dried meals and ingredients. I write "Veg" 'cause it may be even Vegan, as opposed to just Vegetarian. They also do custom vegan/vegetarian cakes/pastries. This place is run by 2 sisters and their workers. As soon as Sandra heard that I wanted something to eat, she prepped me with an Asian meal - as opposed to their other meals that are more popular amongst gwai-lo. Meal comprised of a soup (looked like Tom Yum, but not sweet/spicy), a separate plate with Rice, Bok Choy (chopped with garlic), & a portion of fermented Mustard Greens with Green Peas (this was medium spicy). The meal was tasty, yet rather homey as it wasn't overly salted. I really felt like I was eating at an aunt's house! This place is located in a rather industrial, catering to Vegans/Vegetarians (or people who just enjoy the occasional veg meal), so just call ahead if you want to order something! The sisters will even offer you a sample if it's available. :)

Everything is made in house and nothing is deep fried and no refined sugar used.....so no guilt happy eating. They have an extensive dessert display and I had the peach crumble bar which was yummy! I shared the cauliflower wings with spicy sauce and arancini with cashew "blue" cheeze. Both were tasty and satisfying. I wanted the potato soup with coconut bacon but found it slightly bland and it just tasted like coconut chunks in the soup vs "bacon" flavour(likely seasoning dissolved off in the soup). I had the warrior "taco" which was basically a lettuce wrap. It was very tasty but difficult to eat snd messy. The sun dried tomato flavour was so good. I love lettuce wraps but need to find a clever way of eating it more neatly. Hubby and friend had the chickpea burger with baked sweet potato and regular fries. We all left satisfied and happy

My favourite vegan/vegetarian restaurant so far…read more I appreciate that they use real ingredients and abstain from refined sugars... I ordered the: 1. Falafel bowl: The tzatziki sauce tasted exactly like tzatziki sauce using yogurt etc. The falafels are baked and not deep fried. Con for me was the price - $16 is steep. 2. Pumpkin cheezcake: Absolute must get. I prefer this to regular cheesecake - sweetened with maple syrup. The crust is made from dates and maybe something else. The coconut whip cream is a nice substitute for the regular whip cream. GET THIS. 3. Oat cranberry walnut cookie: Get this - end of story 4. Double chocolate sweet potatoe cookie: This was a bit odd; It was not as satisfying as the oat cranberry walnut cookie. However, I still devoured it. Service: The ladies behind the counter were very helpful, and patient with me. The kitchen seemed a bit slow, given the restaurant was only 20% full. If I'm in Hamilton, I will definitely visit again.

I tried their soy chicken drum sticks, kim chi, dumplings, siu mai, and radish cake. My absolute favourite and would recommend is the radish cake!! It is so good. The kim chi was off-putting and was drenched in whatever sauce. The dumplings are also really good as well. I like the layout and aesthetics of the restaurant. One thing to note also was that the employees just seemed miserable. I understand we came an hour before closing but they just seemed miserable and sort of ticked off that we were coming an hour before closing.

Ok, so I rarely write reviews. I find them a bit of a waste of time, and I'm firmly against writing…read moreone if you dislike the restaurant. Hence why we're here. Well, at first I was a bit on the fence about ordering cause of the vegetarian/vegan menu, I like my meat, love meat, got to have my protein dammit! But wow! was I ever surprised and happy about following my gut and choosing to go there. You see, I'm from Vancouver, and if you know a bit about my hometown is that you know we have a very large asian population. Heck, I'd even go as far as saying it's my second language, (my first language is English and my parents are Chilean...never spoken a word of it) but I've been around it so much somehow, I feel I could get by given the chance. So, by examining the pictures from the online menu, I thought to myself; If the food is anything remotely like the pictures, it looks exactly like my fav spot in Vancouver - Congee Noodle King- also a must try if you're in east Vancouver. Just trust my absent Asian ancestry ok?! I ordered the N65. Fried Noodles with Steamed and Stir-Fried Bean Curd, and as a request asked them to make it spicy to which they happily and kindly obliged. This dish was packed with flavour. Oh em gee! Loaded with fresh crunchy veggies, the noodles were spot on: thin, velvety and a lot of them. Makes for some healthy slurps! Oh, did I mention the meat? No, I didn't, because it didn't have any, and I have never not missed something so much. The crispy fried bean curds tasted like deep fried spare ribs. My pupils dilated a bit. And that's ok cause I went into a food coma, got to heaven and wrote a review about the very first Asian restaurant I try in Toronto and I'm already planning to go back. If you give this place less than 5 stars you don't know food, Asian food or how to speak it so go on and chew on some meat! Thank you for the wonderful and friendly service as well. I shall return. How do you say that in Mandarin? Cheers! - Patricio

Christmas in March!…read more My best friend and I were supposed to meet up before Christmas. We both got busy, especially with my being stateside for the holidays. When I returned, she was away. We were both free in mid-March to exchange Christmas gifts and catch up. She lives in Peterborough. We tend to meet partway. I suggested this Veggie Planet in Ajax. She was game. We both had never been to any Veggie Planet location. I had no problem finding a parking spot in this plaza. I backed into a spot a few doors down from this eatery. I waited for my friend to arrive. Once she did, we walked in. Being our first time, we went with a pizza. I asked an extremely helpful woman behind the counter what size would be good for us. She recommended a medium pizza. We got the following items: - Medium Indian masala pizza - Onion rings - Kawa nuggets - Masala soda (sweet with a hint of saltiness) - Diet Pepsi My friend wanted onion rings. I originally wanted to get the kawa (soy) drumsticks. The female staffer recommended the nuggets instead. Interesting. I went with her suggestion. For the masala soda, she said that I could get it either sweet or salty. I asked if I could get a bit of each. So, my drink ended up being sweet with a hint of saltiness. I paid with a credit card. The transaction was smooth. She said that she'd bring the food and drinks over. Nice! We grabbed a table and chatted. Our drinks came out first. I loved my masala soda. It was slightly sweet. It did have a bit of saltiness to it. The masala was perfect with the fizzy soda. I just wish that this drink were offered in a larger size. I ended up getting a cold Diet Pepsi an hour later. It was perfect. Our medium Indian masala pizza came next. By default, it had tomatoes, onions, and green bell peppers. My friend is vegan. We made sure that we got vegan cheese. The pizza was yummy. The cheese melted nicely. However, with this vegan cheese, you will never get a stretchy cheese pull. In hindsight, this pizza would have been even better with protein. Kawa would have worked nicely. Luckily, we had kava nuggets. They were delicious. They were crispy and yummy. You couldn't tell that they were soy. The dipping sauce was yummy. I liked the onion rings. They were so crispy. They were enjoyable to eat. We spent at least a couple of hours here. I provided feedback on how fabulous the food was and how helpful the woman was when I bought my Diet Pepsi. She smiled and seemed happy. There is a washroom that's a single stall at the back of this eatery. It's the type where you press a button to lock the door and another button to unlock it. A light outside the washroom lets the world know that it's either vacant (green) or occupied (red). My friend used it first and said that it was clean. I used it afterwards. A customer tried opening the door twice while I was using the washroom. I actually said something the second time and she stopped tugging at the door handle as if her life depending on it. When I was done, I locked eyes with the woman who was clueless about the lights. Other than weird washroom woman, we had a great time here. I still want to try the drumsticks and get the masala soda again. So good! (139)

We picked up some vegan chole, vegan eggplant, samosa, and vegan parathas, and tandoori rotis. The Chole and eggplant curries were very disappointing. Especially Chole - it tasted as it was made a novice and not a chef. Chole is such a Punjabi dish, that one is rarely disappointed. The eggplant curry was equally disappointing. It didn't taste as it came from a Punjabi restaurant. The spice level and even seasonings were completely off. The samosas were OK and so was the tandoori rotis. The Aloo Parathas again disappointing. Wondering how can one go wrong in making Parathas? Potatoes stuffed in between two bigger tawa rotis. That's how it tasted. We are not sure we are going back to this location ever again.
