I love this place. A few things to note before you visit. To have lunch here, it is a temple so you will need a membership. The ladies at the front desk are super nice so they'll help you with a membership. You can pay for the year or pay per quarter. They only accept cash. The membership is also good because it allows you to take activities like yoga on the weekends. This is a temple so when you go in you do have to be respectful if they are in prayer- they will not let you walk in the area where there is prayer but will let you know once it's over so you can pass. It works by ticket system. So for any dish or drink, you need a ticket. You can buy the tickets with cash before you enter the cafe. I highly recommend the laksa and any of the fruit teas. They even give you toothpicks so you can eat the fruit once you're done with the tea. A tip for the tea: have 3-4cups and ask them to refill with hot water. You can ask for hot water refills as many times as you want so make sure not to drink all of the tea so you can dilute it and savour it. The food here is all vegan and vegetarian (some items have milk). Their laksa with rice noodles is my favourite. There is mock seafood and fish balls in there and is absolutely filling and satisfying

Who would have thought a delicious vegetarian restaurant is located inside a temple? This is a great place for all veggie lovers whether you are religious or not. All items are $7 and you buy these 'tickets' outside in reception and exchange for what you order. The popular items are the vegetarian laksa and the mock beef in noodle soup. Both of these items are spicy but you can ask for less spicy if you wish. Soupy noodles seem to be their specialty but they also have waffles and sandwiches too. Highly recommend drinking their Fresh Fruits tea as well! You can refill but obviously it will dilute in flavour over time. Ask for toothpicks to eat the fruit!

Vegetable Noodle Soup - I wanted laksa the last coupla times and missed it! None left by 1pm. :(

To add to my review, DO NOT skip out on the tea while you're getting something to eat! As I've tried most, if not all, of their noodle dishes, the tea is what keeps me coming back. I've tried: Fruit Tea, Dried Fruit Tea, Tangerine, & today, their Special Oolong. All very good and refillable! All the fruit ones are on the sweeter side while the oolong was very nice and there was enough leaves for 3 refills. Tip: Like others have said, go early if you want to get the Laksa. "Rice Noodle" looks more like a vermicelli to me. It's coconut milk based and it is spicy, so keep that in mind!

Their menu has a page explaining the story of the Lotus Tea House.

It's unfortunate that a membership is required to eat at the restaurant however given the quality of the food and service there, it's definitely not something I mind paying. If you can go a few times a year, I think the membership cost justifies it since the prices are $7 per item. And plus you get to eat in a temple! Their menu is fairly simple and doesn't have a lot of options (there are more tea options than meal dishes). You order meal tickets at the front desk when you first enter and each item on the menu is worth one ticket. We ordered the lemon ginger tea and the vegetarian Laksa noodles. Food didn't take too long to come and our waitress responded very quickly to our requests despite it being busy. The tea was really flavourful and unlike anything I've ever had before. The ginger taste wasn't overwhelming and the lemon honey balanced it out well. There isn't a lot in the little pot but you can ask for free refills of hot water. The Laksa noodle is the best I've had in Canada, the broth was the right amount of sour and spicy and some of the tofu accessories tasted better than meat counterparts I've had before. Initially the portion size looked a little small but at the end, I realized it was just the perfect amount because I left not hungry nor bloated. The other noodle dishes also looked delicious as well and I plan on returning to try the rest of their teas/noodle dishes.

WOW!!! Never though to go to eat at a temple. Its a beautiful Buddhist temple. The architecture of the building is beautiful as it looks and feels like a temple. They have some fascinating things outside before you make your way in. Once you get in there is a huge hall for prayers and on your right you have all vegetarian cafe/restaurant. The Restaurant is reasonably priced. Basically they have a ticket system and I believe its $5 or $7 bucks and with that ticket you can order any one item from the menu. The food is all Vegetarian and very tasty. I had the spicy rice noddle soup and trust me the portion was great and it wasn't just soup. The noddles and vegetables were in their full potential. I got another ticket to get their fruit tea.... and make sure you get it as its to die for. I near head such a fruity tea. The service was great and make sure during office lunch time you get there earlier as it could get busy. All in all its a great place to visit and have a meal.

Lotus Tea House is located in a temple called Fo Guang Shan Temple. Atmosphere is nice.

Lotus Tea House is located in a temple called Fo Guang Shan Temple. Atmosphere is nice. The menu selection is quite small, but I don't mind. It's a nice place to rest and eat while in the temple. It does however close quite early. I definitely recommend to try the fruit tea!! Sweet and delish. Be sure to have a look around the temple as well!! The main shrine is beautiful and there is a mini museum upstairs. **Every item on the menu is $7 and you are required to buy food tickets before entering the restaurant. Tickets can be bought at one of the front desks near the entrance of the temple.

Popular and the bestest Laksa dish at Lotus Tea House. I'm already craving this.
    Sunny B.

I had the most amazing lunch with their popular Laksa dish and fresh fruit tea. I felt the lunch was prepared with love and served with smile. They played beautiful and calm instrumental music (sort of meditation music found on YouTube) which relaxes you and brings positive thoughts. According to the friendly volunteers at the restaurant (servers, chef etc. all are volunteers) they are the only one that serve fresh fruit tea in Canada. Every dish here is for $7. I still have the taste of delicious vegetarian Laksa in my mouth. I know I will be back here very soon. My only regret-why I didn't come here any sooner. I'll leave you with a beautiful quote found on the menu of this restaurant - "A Kindness Received Is Returned Many Times Over".

Had a healthy and yummy lunch here yesterday. We had laksa, mock beef noodle, sesame cold noodle, toasted sandwich with mushroom and corn, and fruit tea. The fruit was marvelous. It had dried pineapple, grapefruit and apple. Everything is $7 each, and it is worth every penny. Ticket for the food is available at the front desk. Servers are very friendly and they are all volunteers. My hat is off to them

They were quite busy with takeout orders which I took as a good sign. We ordered the Beef Sirloin Noodles level spicy and numb(4/5), Breaded Shrimp (5/5) Seafood Fried Rice (4/5) and Lamb Skewers (4/5). Beef Sirloin Noodles were delicious. The broth itself was not overly salty compared to other places we've been to. I enjoyed the addition of peanuts to this dish for that extra crunchy texture and nutty taste. The noodles were cooked perfectly. They were bouncy and chewy. The beef itself was good. Some were a tad bit chewy. I wish there was more bok choy. We'd also opt for extra spicy and extra numb next time. Breaded Shrimp was enjoyable. You can't go wrong with this dish. It was crispy, and the batter to shrimp ratio was decent. Seafood Fried Rice was good as well. Again, we liked how it wasn't overly salty. We were able to sense the taste of the seafood. I wish they added more scallops since we only got two pieces in the whole dish. Lamb Skewers were satisfying flavour-wise. We really liked the seasoning on them. It was on the chewier side but it was manageable. We'd like to try their other skewer options next time. Overall, such a good spot for affordable and delicious food. I'm glad my family recommended this place. I'd like to point out that a customer was being problematically entitled and rude yet the female server stayed professional. I thought she handled the situation quite calmly which I wanna commend her for. P.S. The restaurant has a sign on their door saying not to bring pets inside. So please read this and try not to bring your pet inside to avoid looking entitled and rude.

It is a nice local spot to get your Chinese food cravings fixed. Their menu seems to be the same for all locations, the only difference being the price, all locations potentially the same other than the downtown location. See their website: https://www.congeequeen.com/menu.php and select your location. It has been a while since we have eaten at the Congee Queen outside of the Toronto (Dundas/Yonge) location, so we were a bit surprised at the price difference (8-10% difference). This location (Heartland Town Center) feels like it has the right price for the menu. With cash, you also get a 10% discount. We were here on a Wednesday for an early dinner around 15:30 - 17:00 and it was about medium full for the main area. People were coming and going at a good pace. For our group of four, we ordered: - B3 Salmon Congee $11 ($12 downtown) - H11 Chicken Salted Fish Fried Rice $18.25 ($19.75 downtown) - K34 Fried Bean Curd with Veggie $19.50 ($21.50 downtown) - K42 Salt and Pepper Squid $16.50 ($18.25 downtown) - K53 Fried Chili Turnip Cakes $13.75 ($15.00 downtown) Service was a bit slow, but not the longest as there were only 2-3 staff taking orders that day for about 15-20 tables. If you signaled for assistance, they will come. Once ordered thought, the food came out in about 5 mins and all the dishes were ready soon after. Tea is refilled on request, just ask. As usual, the fried rice and congee is what they are known for, it was excellent as usual. Depending on the group you go with, YMMV, but for our order combination, this usually works comes out at the same time and everything is hot and tasty. The turnip cakes are the softer type and they even accommodated checking for shrimp. They are usually good about seafood checks. All in all, great experience. With the discount and tips all in, it was less than $100 total at $25 per person. It has been a while since we've eaten out with a group at that price point. Will keep in mind to meetup at any of the non downtown locations in future.

This location is on the small side and the seating is quite limited. That said, whenever we come here Sunday afternoons, we never have trouble getting tables during walk-ins. The staff is always attentive and we never have to wait for much long for the food to come. They always ask you if you want water or tea. Usually also get a bowl of seaweed soup with your order (per person) though this time around we didn't get any. We ordered a lot for dinner. For appetizers, we ordered the braised pork pan-fried buns, which were amazing. The bun was really fluffy, and the filling was flavourful and just the right amount of juicy. We also had chive pork dumplings. These were also good, though I admit I prefer the pan-fried ones. In particular, our dumplings came out kind of gummy. We had some scallion pancakes which were nice and crispy, and very flavourful. Then, some dried beancurd sticks that were just the right amount of spiciness. Do keep in mind the beancurd sticks are cold (it surprised me the first time I had it). Finally, we had some honey garlic chicken wings. They fry their chicken wings really well, and they don't overdo the sauce which is great. We did have trouble fitting all of this on the table since we ordered so much. We managed, but just keep this in mind if you like to order a lot of appetizers. We each ordered a main. My boyfriend had the lemongrass chicken with egg on rice, which he enjoyed. I also enjoyed my Taiwanese braised pork. My pork dish was amazing and they cooked the egg really well. I was missing my time in Taiwan so I ordered the Taiwanese Braised Pork and Egg on rice. We also ordered Pumpkin Pie with Red Bean Filling, stir-fried rice noodles with bean sprouts, Juicy Chinese Pork Burger, and their Juicy Cheese Beef Burger. Everything was quite good especially the Chinese Pork Burger. The outer shell was so crispy and the pork meat was so juicy and was seasoned just right. The Taiwanese Braised Pork rice was good but definitely not as good as in Taiwan lol. Also, if coming here, you have to try their signature pan fried buns. That is what they are known for. We didn't order it this time because we've had it a bunch of times already. Overall, this restaurant always hits. It's not the most amazing food but like the name suggest, It is very home style comfort food.

I've lived in Toronto, Durham, Peel and I can definitely say its been the hardest to find goood late night greasy Chinese food here in the Port Credit end of Mississauga. I'm still on the hunt! Customer service here was great. I called asked a few questions, than went in and grabbed a menu and went back to my car. Called over the phone and ordered she didn't know it was me and asked if i knew where they were located which was nice. So My order was General tao chicken ( we usually get chilli chicken but don't like it dry, prefer the sauced up spicy, so this is the equivalent at some places), chicken balls, chicken fried rice, and chicken wings. The total was about 40$, which is fair and the portions were alot less to what I was used to. The general tao chicken was not even a little bit spicy, even though she said it was so that was disappointing. On top of that the breaded part of the chicken was extremely soggy and the plate was full of soggy over cooked veggies underneath. the chicken wings were fried and greasy tasted great and well seasoned. Just not like what I'd usually get from a Chinese take out place as it just looked different the way it was breaded and fried. The rice was in a really small container w under cooked pieced of chicken that was very slimy and white and the rice was very bland. I had to overkill w soy sauce and bit of red sauce. Lastly the chicken balls of course 80% balls 20% chicken but tasted fine, just nothing special. I mean it was cheap and last minute but i definitely feel like i would not have ordered here if i had known cheap or not. They have alot to improve on or mayb they are better at making other items listed in reviews from others. Not sure how they have 5 stars. but hey to each their own right!
