My event's dress code changed, since my order didn't ship and I still had another week to make changes to the color of my tux, etc, Arthur was going to guarantee a full refund, the manager overheard and said they cannot honor the full refund - with no reason for not honoring Arthur's guarantee for me. He was going to do it for a good review, but didn't know how to do it, so when he asked the manager she said they won't honor it - he said he would do it if she wasn't there but now "she'll be on the lookout for it" ... would've probably came back but that left a bad taste in my mouth! As a groomsman for a friend's wedding, we had tux rentals at Friar's and this was the closest one. The process was straughtforward where we go in for initial fitting then go back for final fitting closer to your event date, and then return within 24 hours after your event. Arthur did my initial fitting and I was between sizes. He made a good recommendation to go for the larger size as I would be in the shirt all day, instead of the smaller more fitted/fashionable size. I really hate leaving negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share my experience to help others avoid the same issues. Here are highlights of the issues we experienced: 1) Despite being told all the suits were all ready for pickup, only two of the suits were ready when we arrived. 2) Wrong color pocket squares were given, and it took multiple trips to correct them. 3) One suit was marked as "already picked up", but was later found in the back after a lot of confusion. 4) Missing pants for one suit, and they initially asked us to drive to Anaheim to pick them up. 5) The father of the groom's suit was the wrong size so he had to wear his own suit on our wedding day, (6) and my groom's pocket square was still the wrong color on the wedding day. In the end, we had several mix-ups, major inconvenience, and unnecessary stress. When we returned the suits, my groom, father, and I all agreed that we would never return to Friar Tux. The Lakewood location kept blaming the warehouse for the issues, but I believe the staff should have been more diligent in double-checking the orders BEFORE we arrived to pick anything up. My advice: TRIPLE CHECK EVERYTHING before taking anything home. It doesn't matter if the workers get annoyed at you for that, and they will definitely try to speed you though this process. It'll save you stress and headaches. read more

I had a perfect fitting from Arthur. I had him take a 2nd look at my sizes after being fitted and he saw right away that the sizes were off and redid my measurements. My 7 year old son needed a suit for a wedding that he was a ring bearer in. I wanted a fitted suit for him and initially went with an Amazon shop, bought a 50 dollar suit that ended up being too big - twice! So I had to downsize and even at size 6 it was too big. I went to a tailor which quoted me $236. I loved their honesty but decided to go with Friar Tux for a rental which was around $200 for everything (slacks, dress shirt, cuff links, vest, bow tie and blazer jacket - ALL PERSONALLY FITTED) - shoes not included. I went to this location a week before the wedding. Went in and scanned the QR code, which is at the door, to check in. Probably only waited about 5-10 minutes each time. First visit: got measured, discussed prices and paid for the rental. The wedding was on a Friday. I was able to do a fit check the Wednesday prior and normally would have taken it home however, everything was shorter or tighter. ***ALWAYS TRY THE RENTAL before leaving. We got measured again and was told to come back the next day (Thursday). We did and everything fit perfectly - no adjustments needed to me made. Friday - everyone kept commenting on how great my son looked in his suit. Saturday - brought it all back at 4pm (they close earlier on the weekends). It was an easy drop off - scanned QR code, was then told to hang it on a clothing rack next to the registers and they would email me the receipt - done in 3 minutes. Small plaza - limited parking. I would arrive an hour before closing on the weekdays and they were always busy (probably due to it being prom season). All workers were helpful, kind and patient. Also received tux and accessories clean and pressed - ready to wear. read more

I've had issues at their Torrance location but never at this place.....until now. They shouldn't be surprised to see this review. So I came in to rent a Tux for my wedding. Got fitted and everything was fine. Went to my pick up day and everything was good except my pants needed to get hemmed a little more so they said come back tomorrow any time and it should be ready. I show up the next day (2 days before my wedding) and my Jacket is missing. Amongst all the confusion with staff I was told the girl who sized me up had me try on a suit that was already on loan. So when it came time to pick everything up I was told that the Jacket I tried on is discontinued and they don't have it anymore. I was also told they may be able to find me one by Saturday by 1pm (my wedding day). My wedding was not in town nor would I ever want to run the risk of waiting on a jacket hours before my wedding. So after everything I was given a simple "sorry" by staff with no solution. The best part is I asked for a refund and I was told No because I paid to get fitted (for a Tux that doesn't exist). Luckily I called corporate who was shocked they refused to give me a refund and issued it back to me. They actually had to call the location to confirm my story. I had to run out to Downtown LA the day before my wedding and find something last minute. This was by far the Worst experience I've ever had getting a suit for my own wedding of all things. These places simply don't care. I will never go here ever again and I'm happy I've already convinced 3 couples during my wedding who wanted to use Friar to go elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and avoid the stress and go somewhere else or buy suits in LA. read more

My overall experience was not 5 stars, but one person was insanely awesome to work with that boosted the entire experience. Rayne, you are so amazing. She was patient, professional, and so kind. She took a tense group and made us all relax and have fun. She was so thorough and detailed with every person and made sure we all had the dedicated time we needed and everything was organized and picked down to the details. She helped the groom, two child wedding party members, and a groomsman. Everything went great and we were so pleased with our experience. The smiles and laughs were priceless. However, when she wasn't there...we had some interactions were other people seemed confused by child sizing, were less patient, and more frustrated. They were professional, but it wasn't as fun. Some suits came in the wrong size (Rayne fixed) and on the day of, a few pocket squares were missing. We were able to get a refund for that, so I'm grateful. If Rayne wasn't there, I'd give a solid 3.8. It was fine. Could we have gone anywhere else? Probably. Did it work with the price point and the service? Yeah. Was Rayne absolutely priceless and I'd go back and do it all over again at this location if she was there? One million percent. I'm sorta bummed I won't see her again. I'll rather drive way farther than go here. - Got my pick up date wrong so I had to come back - Wouldn't let me adjust my suit on my final fitting, - 2 people helped me separately and told me different things and got rude with me when I tried to clarify - Gave unadjustable perfect fit pants on a RENTAL that comes in standard sizing, so you can't wear a belt. - Returned my suit on time and texted me saying my suit going to be late/overdue. Like what lol Each time they said oh someone else messed up or something was wrong with the system. Unprofessional, take some accountability, you guys all work at the same place. Otherwise it makes you look like big fat liars (probably true based on the other reviews).
